EXCLUSIVE: One of the lawyers who successfully defended New York City subway hero Daniel Penny is calling out what he terms the "dysfunctional homicidal policies of the radical left," arguing that progressive criminal justice policies that keep violent, mentally ill repeat offenders on the streets lead to preventable tragedies like the recent Charlotte train stabbing in North Carolina."These are homicidal policies," said Thomas Kenniff, a partner at Raiser Kenniff & Lonstein. Video shows she collapsed to the ground and bled out in front of at least a half-dozen bystanders in an unprovoked stabbing. One example that was highlighted was Willie Horton, who murdered a boy in a robbery, stabbing him 19 times. Despite a life sentence, Horton received 10 weekend passes from prison. Horton fled, kidnapped a young couple, stabbing the man and repeatedly raped his girlfriend. The ad concluded: "Weekend prison passes Dukakis on crime."Some say the ad, which also featured a chilling photo of Horton, changed the course of criminal justice in America, leading to more than a decade of tough on crime policies.Bill Keller, editor-in-chief of The Marshall Project, a group dedicated to criminal justice reform, said the ad "taught Democrats that this was an issue where they had to be more Catholic than the Pope; tougher than tough."CROCKETT ARGUES A PERSON COMMITTING A CRIME 'DOESN'T MAKE THEM A CRIMINAL'Six years later, President Bill Clinton followed through by signing the 1994 Crime Bill, which called for nearly $10 billion to build more prisons and add 100,000 police officers. They argue that after a spike during the post-COVID years, crime is down, but voters arent buying it. A recent AP poll shows two-thirds of Americans think crime is a major problem. A Pennsylvania woman has been charged after police discovered the remains of her four infants in the closet and attic of a home she had been evicted from last month.Jessica Marie Mauthe, 39,was arrested after her former landlord called police to the home she had lived in outside Ford City, about 40 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.The landlord, Brent Flanigan, told WTAE-TV that he had law enforcement evict Mauthe for nonpayment on Aug. 14.After he began cleaning the home, he came across a trash bag in a closet that had a foul odor and something wrapped in towels that was decomposing, according to the arrest affidavit issued Thursday.KENTUCKY COLLEGE ATHLETE ACCUSED OF HIDING DEAD BABY IN CLOSET WAS SERIAL BULLY, FORMER CLASSMATE SAYSInvestigators searched the home and found the bodies of three other infants in the attic in tote bags, wrapped in towels and inside plastic bags, police said."Shocked. The U.S. Secret Service said Tuesday that it "dismantled a network of electronic devices located throughout the New York tristate area that were used to conduct multiple telecommunications-related threats directed towards senior U.S. government officials."The devices were concentrated within 35 miles of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City, it added."This protective intelligence investigation led to the discovery of more than 300 co-located SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards across multiple sites," the Secret Service said in a statement. "In addition to carrying out anonymous telephonic threats, these devices could be used to conduct a wide range of telecommunications attacks. This includes disabling cell phone towers, enabling denial of services attacks and facilitating anonymous, encrypted communication between potential threat actors and criminal enterprises.""While forensic examination of these devices is ongoing, early analysis indicates cellular communications between nation-state threat actors and individuals that are known to federal law enforcement," it also said.The Department of Homeland Securitys Homeland Security Investigations, the Department of Justice, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the New York Police Department and other state and local law enforcement partners are assisting with the investigation."The potential for disruption to our countrys telecommunications posed by this network of devices cannot be overstated," U.S. Secret Service Director Sean Curran said. "The U.S. Secret Services protective mission is all about prevention, and this investigation makes it clear to potential bad actors that imminent threats to our protectees will be immediately investigated, tracked down and dismantled."The Secret Service also said: "Given the timing, location and potential for significant disruption to New York telecommunications posed by these devices, the agency moved quickly to disrupt this network."This is a developing story. A lightning strike has been ruled the preliminary cause of death for the two hunters found dead in Colorado.Conejos County Coroner Richard Martin has given his findings to multiple media outlets. He says Andrew Porter and Ian Stasko's "[k]ind of death is just instant.""Its like youre alive, and now youre not," Martin told The Colorado Sun. "Just that quick.
