Disneys Jimmy Kimmel benching prompts celebration, but also caution, from conservatives
ABC's decision topull "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"off the air this week prompted celebration from some conservatives while others expressed caution about free speech and government overreach.Disney on Wednesday sidelined Jimmy Kimmel "indefinitely" on the heels of controversial comments the late-night host made about the assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk. The move came as Disney faced mounting pressure from ABC affiliate stations around the country, as well as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).Some have accused the network of caving to theTrump administrationand waving the white flag in the battle over free speech. Others, however, believe Kimmel had it coming."Cancel culture? No. Consequence culture," OutKick's Riley Gaines wrote on X.DISNEY SAYS JIMMY KIMMEL'S SHOW WILL BE PREEMPTED INDEFINITELY FOLLOWING CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION COMMENTSOn Monday, Kimmel accused conservatives of reaching "new lows" in trying to pin a left-wing ideology on 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson, even though prosecutors reaffirmed those ties in Tuesdays indictment."We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it," Kimmel said.Podcaster Stephen L. Miller believes that Kimmel "spread a false and verifiable lie and the network and Disney rightfully freaked out about it," while The Free Press Eli Lake feels there are a pair of issues playing out.Lake wrote, "Lets separate two things. Jimmy Kimmel is an unfunny mediocrity and his take on Charlie Kirk was tasteless, stupid and factually vacant. At the same time the chairman of the FCC should not be programming late night television. Thats a violation of the First Amendment."Lake is among many who believe the government should stay away from such matters."I think Jimmy Kimmel is an enormous jerk whom ABC should have yanked off the air of their own will. But Brendan Carr has made that impossible. This doesn't end anywhere good," National Review's Jeffrey Blehar wrote.FCC CHAIR LEVELS THREAT AGAINST ABC, DISNEY AFTER KIMMEL SUGGESTED CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSIN WAS MAGA"What Jimmy Kimmel said was gross, irresponsible and false. A sane company should absolutely punish a host for abusing their platform in that way. The government should stay out of it and has no role in policing such speech," popular X account AG Hamilton wrote.CNNs S.E. Cupp, a fierce critic of President Donald Trump, wrote that the Trump administration "is systematically killing free speech, and these capitulating media companies are acting as willing accomplices," but not everyone agrees with her view.Conservative pundit Michele Tafoya noted, "A legal mind reminded me that free speech means the govt cant punish you for things you say, but an employer can hold you accountable. Kimmel isnt going to prison."Attorney and podcaster Eric Matheny wrote that "Kimmel getting fired is not the greatest attack on free speech weve ever seen" because "Kirk being murdered on national TV by a radicalized leftist who didnt like the things Charlie said is the greatest attack on free speech weve ever seen.""About once or twice a year, I have to explain free speech like Im talking to a kindergarten class. If Jimmy Kimmel got arrested and prosecuted for what he said on his show, thats a free speech violation. If his employer decides to take him off the air? Thats not," Matheny wrote.ABC REPORTER CALLS ALLEGED CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSIN'S TEXT MESSAGES TO TRANSGENDER PARTNER VERY TOUCHINGKimmels comments came one day after both FBI officials and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said that Robinson held a "leftist ideology" and was increasingly radicalized in recent years. It was also revealed that he had a romantic relationship with a transgender partner who was biologically male and transitioning to female.Conservative podcaster Benny Johnson, who played a key role in the saga when FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatened ABC on his program with possible intervention over Kimmel's remarks, called Disneys decision a "generational culture war victory.""What Jimmy Kimmel said about Charlie Kirk is indefensible. It made us all angry. But how do we channel that righteous anger into something productive? We must focus, isolate the enemy and apply swift, immense tactical pressure. Mean tweets are great. But they can be ignored. What cant be ignored are your paying customers organizing against you and FCC investigations. That is exactly what we did," Johnson wrote."First thing: ABC is not just another cable channel. ABC operates under a special Federal Broadcast License that lavishes them with taxpayer-funded privileges on the condition that their programming is fair and equal and in the public interest," Johnson continued. "Chairman Carr put Disney on notice that they were going to have to defend Kimmels sick lies about Charlies death before the FCC. We made them defend the indefensible. Make them eat it."COMPLETE COVERAGE OF CHARLIE KIRKJohnson said his team "contacted ABC, Disney and local station owners all day" leading up to the decision to sideline Kimmel."There are hundreds of stations with moral, patriotic audiences who love Charlie Kirk and are sickened by Kimmel. We asked these broadcast affiliates why they would continue to carry such indefensible programming by ABC? To their great credit, Nexstar and Sinclair, two massive ABC affiliates that reach 37 million households told us they were pulling Kimmel out of respect for their viewers. A historic moment. Cant think of another time that has been done," Johnson said. "Charlie always knew how to Fight and Win. We are the majority. When Republicans organize and unite for a common cause we are unstoppable."Many on the left have accused conservatives of celebrating "cancel culture," but Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said Kimmel is simply facing consequences for his actions.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"With Kimmel getting canned Im seeing lots of people talking about the hypocrisy of cancel culture. To me cancel culture is when people go out of their way to dig up old tweets, videos etc., looking for dirt on somebody they dont like in an effort to get them fired," Portnoy wrote on social media."But when a person says something that a ton of people find offensive, rude, dumb in real time, and then that person is punished for it, thats not cancel culture," Portnoy continued. "That is consequences for your actions."Fox News Digitals Joseph A. Wulfsohn contributed to this report.

Country artist refuses to 'bend the knee' when told to remove American flag from social media
When country music artist and conservative commentator Alexis Wilkins refused to remove the American flag from her Instagram bio, she told Fox News Digital it became a moment that inspired her to embrace and speak out about her conservative values.Wilkins said she wasnt politically outspoken before college, but a classroom experience changed that."I was given an F in a class that I have only ever gotten A's in my life because of my politics," Wilkins shared.Wilkins believed that receiving the failing grade was the professors way of signaling she wasnt following a push to be indoctrinated.JASMINE CROCKETT DISPARAGES MAGA VOTERS, TRUMP AS 'MOST UNPATRIOTIC PEOPLE'"When he gave that to me just simply for not going along with the status quo, not writing the papers that denigrated the actions of the Trump administration that I was being asked to write as part of curricula, that was the point where I said, 'okay, it looks like me not saying that I'm a liberal means that I am a conservative' anyway, so I'm willing to draw a line in the sand and I think it's time in this country that we did," said Wilkins.Although Wilkins said country music is generally more accepting of people who "love America," she added that parts of the industry still pressured her to do things she didnt agree with."I was told to take an American flag out of my Instagram bio, or that I had to support certain things or do certain things in order to get booked on tours, in order to get signed to a label. There are things that ultimately have to give up, and I wasn't willing to do that and bend the knee to that."She added, "The industry and some figureheads in the industry were just saying that me having an American flag in my bio was going to be seen as partisan."BROADCAST BIAS: MEDIA ELITES PUT THEIR PROFESSION OVER PATRIOTISMFORMER REAL HOUSEWIFE SAYS BRAVO CANCELED HER FOR BEING CONSERVATIVEWilkins pushed back, calling it "ridiculous" to suggest that being proud of the country you live in should be considered "partisan."During the 2016 election, Wilkins said some in the industry warned her that even working with certain veterans organizations could be viewed as "partisan."Wilkins didn't let that stop her."It was things that were fundamentally American and things that I wasn't willing to compromise on," she said.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Connor was killed by a driver who couldnt read signs. Make truckers learn English again
The tragic 2017 death of 18-year-old Connor Dzion in northern Florida shows us the catastrophic consequences of weak enforcement of commonsense road safety measures. Connor was killed by a distracted truck driver who could not read English and ignored critical warning signs as he barreled down the highway. This was a preventable tragedy, not a simple mistake.American lives should not be considered collateral damage for failed social justice initiatives or the desires of shifty trucking companies that seek to undercut the wages of domestic truck drivers. Congress must act decisively. That is why Rep. Dave Taylor, R-Ohio, and I introduced Connors Law to codify the long-standing, commonsense English language proficiency (ELP) requirement for commercial motor vehicle drivers. This bill would ensure CDL holders who cannot read or speak English are placed out of service. These are not new expectations or requirements. Existing federal regulations have in fact long stipulated that CDL drivers must "read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records."FLORIDATRAGEDYSHOWSWHYTRUMPSTRUCKING LICENSECRACKDOWNISNEEDEDIn 2016, however, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), at the direction of the Obama administration, quietly stripped English-proficiency violations from its out-of-service criteria, effectively gutting enforcement of that commonsense rule.Having learned of this risk early in my tenure as Wyomings congresswoman, I began calling for a return to enforcement. On April 10, 2025, I sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy identifying this issue and noting that "with the number of accidents involving CMVs on the rise, it is critical that we take steps to uncover and reevaluate these sorts of concealed policies."Being true to their pledge of responsiveness and accountability, Secretary Duffy immediately reiterated that this administration would again enforce the ELP requirements. Under President Donald Trump, the FMCSA then issued new guidance to inspectors to assess a drivers English language proficiency during roadside inspections, including driver interviews and sign-recognition assessments.THE ROAD TO PROSPERITY WILL BE PAVED BY AUTONOMOUS TRUCKINGThe driver interview requires the inspector to first initiate the inspection in English, and if the driver does not understand basic instructions, a verbal interview to evaluate their ability to converse and respond to official inquiries will be conducted. Also, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) reinstated ELP failures as out-of-service violations.Concerningly, state enforcement remains uneven and uncertain. That is why Connors Law matters. It cements this standard into law, giving state and federal authorities the clarity and authority needed to keep our roads safe.On Aug. 21, 2025, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced an immediate pause on all worker-visa issuance for commercial truck drivers, citing public safety concerns and the threat to American livelihoods. This restriction was adopted following the horrific crash in Florida where an undocumented driver, who failed his English assessment, was involved in a crash that killed three people as he sought to execute an illegal U-turn in the middle of a busy multi-lane highway. This is yet another tragedy that never should have happened.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONHere in Wyoming, we have firsthand experience with the tragic consequences of allowing ELP-deficient drivers on our highways, a fact brought home just in the last week. On Dec. 21, 2022, the life of Tyeler Harris was cut short, and Tiffany Gruetzmacher was severely injured when Saviol Saint Jean drove through an accident site and crashed into them, traveling anywhere from 45 to 60 mph. Saint Jean was not proficient in English, despite having received a CDL.While some non-English speaking drivers may understand standard road signs, such as a stop sign, they cannot understand variable-message signs (VMS) that are prevalent on our highways. In Wyoming, VMS are used across the state most especially across the full stretch of I-80 (which sees over 12,000 vehicles per day) to warn drivers of changing weather conditions, dangerous hazards and road closures. If commercial drivers cannot read English, they will miss critical VMS instructions entirely, compromising safety and increasing the likelihood of catastrophic reactions to changing road conditions.Every American deserves to be confident that when they are sharing the roadways with 18-wheelers that the person behind the wheel can read a sign, understand directions, respond to emergencies and follow the rules. By passing Connors Law, we will be improving the safety on our highways and ensuring that Connor did not die in vain.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM REP. HARRIET HAGEMAN

Riley Gaines speaks out about threats to conservatives on college campuses
After the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, his friend and fellow conservative influencer Riley Gaines is speaking out about her own experience with left-wing campus violence and what comes next for conservatives on college campuses.Gaines said that at a 2023 Turning Point USA event at San Francisco State University, radical trans student activists attacked her and forced her to take refuge in a classroom for hours as university police failed to disperse the hostile crowd. The former NCAA swimmer, who rose to prominence in 2022 for speaking out about her experience competing against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, said that a mob of protesters stormed the event, disrupted her with aggressive chanting, flickered the lights and surrounded her."I [was] so disoriented, you have men and dresses and women with beards. I'm confused, fists are flying in my face," Gaines, who is a host of her own Outkick show, told Fox News Digital. The conservative activist said that a plainclothes police officer pulled her out of the scrum and through a back exit into a hallway, where even more protesters were waiting. She said she took refuge in a nearby classroom for hours into the night as demonstrators gathered outside.FEARLESS TOUR TAKES CHARLIE KIRKS FREE SPEECH MISSION TO COLLEGES NATIONWIDEGaines told Fox News Digital that protesters demanded money if she wanted "to see my family again," and the campus cops failed to disperse the crowd, allegedly saying they couldnt be seen as antagonistic to the transgender community. "I was scared. I was scared for my life. I broke down in tears and I looked at the officer and I said, I just want to go home, and he looked at me and he said, that's a bit selfish, don't you think we want to home too?" Gaines told Fox News Digital. The 12-time All-American swimmer said she was ultimately freed when the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) arrived. She emphasized that she was pro-law enforcement but had criticisms of the way campus police handled the incident. Gaines later returned to the campus with Kirk in May as part of his American Comeback Tour. She said she was dismayed to see that many of the same campus police who had worked at her previous event had returned to be her security.YEARS OF CAMPUS ATTACKS ON CONSERVATIVE ACTIVISTS RESURFACE AFTER CHARLIE KIRKS MURDER"There was no accountability, there was nothing done to the students, to the university administrators who enabled this, there was nothing done to the campus police who facilitated an environment where the students were able to get away with this. They were still there working I was very shocked by that, but now I realize I really shouldn't have been," Gaines told Fox News Digital.Security at college campuses for conservative speakers has become an increasing concern in the aftermath of Kirks assassination. The Turning Point USA co-founder was gunned down Sept. 10 during an event at Utah Valley University after he took a question about transgender mass murderers. His alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, had a transgender partner. Robinson was turned into law enforcement by his father after the attack. Robinson allegedly texted his partner confessing to the murder and said that he "had enough of [Kirks] hatred.""Some hate can't be negotiated out," Robinson allegedly wrote.RILEY GAINES SHARES EMOTIONAL CHARLIE KIRK TRIBUTE AFTER UTAH ASSASSINATION: 'WE DONT HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS'Gaines said that in the aftermath of Kirks assassination, colleges are likely to disinvite conservative speakers, fearing that their campus could become the next target.
