Actor Shia LaBeouf opened up about reconciling with his "Megalopolis" co-star Jon Voight over the latters conservative politics during an interview Monday about the making of the movie. The 39-year-old actor was one of several people who took part in the documentary "Megadoc," a film detailing the making of legendary director Francis Ford Coppolas massive 2024 box office flop, "Megalopolis." In the project, LaBeouf described how he ultimately began reaching out to Voight after the two had a falling out years prior over politics."I was in the midst of doing my ninth step in this program I'm in, and I had to go make amends to Voight because Voight's politics and mine are very different. I love him very much," LaBeouf said, according to Entertainment Weekly.INDIANA JONES ACTOR SHIA LABEOUF SHARES STORY OF HIS GROWING CATHOLIC FAITH: GIVES ME HOPELaBeouf and Voight previously starred together in the 2003 film "Holes" and the 2007 blockbuster "Transformers." LaBeouf recalled Voight taking him under his wing and teaching him about acting before Donald Trumps first election in 2016.During Trump's presidency, LaBeouf revealed he threatened Voight over politics before cutting him out of his life."We had a big fight on the phone where I told him I was going to come to his house, and we were going to fist fight, and I hung up the phone," LaBeouf said. "Didn't talk to him for years."Voight, a longtime conservative, endorsed Trump in both of his presidential campaigns, standing apart from the largely left-leaning entertainment industry. Earlier this year, Voight, along with Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone, were named as "special ambassadors" to Hollywood by Trump as a plan to revitalize the film and television industry and "Make Hollywood Great Again."ACTORS GO BEHIND-THE-SCENES ON HOW TRUMP IS MAKING HOLLYWOOD GREAT AGAINBy contrast, LaBeouf launched an anti-Trump art exhibit titled "He Will Not Divide Us" in 2017 on the day of Trumps first inauguration. It featured a camera placed on a wall outside of the museum with the phrase written in bold lettering, encouraging participants to recite the chant in protest against Trump. The exhibit debuted in Queens, New York, but was taken down a month later due to public safety concerns. LaBeouf had the project moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where it lasted less than a week before being vandalized. After making amends, LaBeouf offered more kind words regarding his relationship with Voight.TRUMP HOLLYWOOD AMBASSADOR JON VOIGHT WARNS WE CAN'T LET HOLLYWOOD GO 'DOWN THE DRAIN LIKE DETROIT'"He was like my mentor from a young age," LaBeouf said. Im open to talking about it," he says.YOUNG PEOPLE RESTORE CHARLIE KIRK MEMORIAL WITH BIBLE VERSES AFTER VANDALS DEFACE TRIBUTEAt first the woman refuses to engage, but instead of backing down she eventually begins mocking Kirks death."Because hes a terrible person, and he deserved to die," the woman said as she made a crying gesture with her hands to mock the man questioning her and Kirks supporters.CHARLIE KIRK VIGILS HELD AT UNIVERSITIES ACROSS AMERICA FOLLOWING ASSASSINATION OF CONSERVATIVE ACTIVISTShe then escalates the incident, breaking into a chant-style rap and repeating, "f--- yo homie he dead."The video exchange has gone viral since it was posted, with many conservatives criticizing the incident and using it as an example of rising hostility on college campuses toward free speech and political differences.Kirk, who was brutally murdered last week during a campus event in Utah, was one of the most recognizable conservative activists in America. Chargers defeat Raiders on the road behind Justin Herbert's 2 touchdown passes
The Los Angeles Chargers took care of another AFC West opponent, defeating the Las Vegas Raiders, 20-9, on "Monday Night Football."Justin Herbert and the Chargers left Sao Paulo, Brazil, with an emphatic win over the Kansas City Chiefs to start the 2025 campaign, snapping a long-standing losing streak to their division rival in the process. Seeing another key matchup in Week 2, Jim Harbaughs team didnt squander the opportunity for another victory.Herbert didnt have to light up the stat sheet like he did against the Chiefs, but he was just as efficient, throwing for 235 yards on 18-of 26 with two touchdowns.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMAnd Herbert found the same players he did in Brazil in the end zone, as Quentin Johnston and Keenan Allen were the recipients of those touchdowns in Las Vegas. Allen gave the Chargers a 10-3 lead when he sprinted to the back right of the end zone and Herbert, flushed out of the pocket, threw a strike to him for his second touchdown of the season.CHARGERS' MEKHI BECTON REVEALS POSSIBLE CAUSE OF MYSTERIOUS ILLNESS, APPARENT HOSPITALIZATION IN BRAZILThen, in the second quarter, Johnston ran the perfect route and Herbert had a clean pocket to deliver a deep ball for a 60-yard touchdown. It was Johnstons third of the season after scoring twice in Brazil to aid the Chargers victory over the Chiefs.Meanwhile, on the Raiders sideline, veteran quarterback Geno Smith was struggling. He went 24 of 43 for 180 yards with three interceptions and no touchdowns. The Chargers defense was making it tough for him to get into a rhythm, and it started from his very first dropback as a tipped pass ended up resulting in one of those picks.Daiyan Henley, Tony Jefferson and Donte Jackson all had interceptions off Smith in the game, while the Chargers defense limited Las Vegas to just three Daniel Carlson field goals. The Raiders defense was making it hard for the Chargers run game, though, as rookie Omarion Hampton managed just 24 yards on eight carries. Najee Harris also had eight touches for 28 yards, with Herbert leading the run game with 31 yards on nine carries.Raiders rookie Ashton Jeanty had little success for Las Vegas, rushing 11 times for 42 yards. And though he was able to play while battling a knee injury, star tight end Brock Bowers was held to five catches for 38 yards. The Chargers will aim to keep their good start going next week when their home opener features yet another division rival the Denver Broncos at SoFi Stadium. The Raiders hit the road with a chance to bounce back against the Washington Commanders.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Why blaming the left is easier than deterring violence after Charlie Kirks murder
PresidentDonald Trump is rejecting suggestions that right-wing extremism is a problem."Well, the problem is on the left," Trump told reporters outside Air Force One."The problem is on the left if you look at the problem its not on the right like some people like to say, on the right. The problem we have is on the left. When you look at the agitators, you look at the scum that speaks so badly of our country, the American flag burnings all over the place, thats the left, thats not the right."CHARLIE KIRK'S ALLEGED ASSASSIN 'TAKEN OVER' BY LEFTIST IDEOLOGY WHILE FBI PROBES WIDER PLOT: BONGINOOne reporter asked whether he planned to investigate."Theyre already under investigation. Theyre already under major investigation. A lot of the people that you would traditionally say are on the left."No matter how the question is framed, Trump sticks to his partisan analysis, as he did on "Fox & Friends": "Radicals on the left are the problem. and they are vicious and horrible and politically savvy. They want men in womens sports, they want transgender for everyone, open borders."The contrast with Utahs Republican governor,Spencer Cox, could not be starker.Cox, who made the Sunday show rounds, says the country has to find an off-ramp from the current surge in political violence in the wake of Charlie Kirks murder. There has to be a way to lower the temperature, he said.Democrats from Barack Obama on down, to their credit, are denouncing the assassination as unacceptable, even if they disagreed with some or all of what Kirk stood for.Whats striking is the ripple effect on everyone else.Newsday had to apologize for an abominable cartoon. The sketch showed an empty chair, with blood behind it, and the repeated phrase "Prove Me Wrong" a frequent Kirk saying with an arrow pointing toTurning Point USA.FROM GRIEF TO GROWTH: TURNING POINT USA BECOMES A RALLYING FORCE FOR GEN Z IN BATTLEGROUND ARIZONAThe Long Island paper called the cartoon "insensitive and offensiveWe deeply regret this mistake and sincerely apologize to the family of Charlie Kirk and to all," saying its been deleted online. But how does something that bad get approved?Fox News, citing 10 sources, said theWhite House and Pam Bondi have lost confidence in Kash Patel. The FBI director stumbled in announcing that a suspect was in custody, only to see that person released as the wrong man. Patel says his tweet that the "subject" of the shooting was "in custody," could have "been worded a little better."There were warning signs when Missouris attorney general was brought in with the same rank as Patels deputy,Dan Bongino, and Fox says he made clear he would not have left that job to serve as Patels number two.Kari Lake, who runs the U.S. Agency for Global Media, said at a vigil for Kirk that the college that the accused shooter attended for one semester had "brainwashed" him."I am making a plea to mothers," said Lake, who twice failed in bids for office in Arizona. "Do not send your children into these indoctrination camps."Lake added that her daughter didnt go to college, instead working for Kirk.Four years ago, the suspect went toUtah State University as a pre-engineering major. And he was sufficiently, uh, brainwashed in 2021 that he decided to kill Kirk last week?UTAH PROSECUTORS PREPARE POTENTIAL DEATH PENALTY CASE AGAINST CHARLIE KIRK SUSPECT TYLER JAMES ROBINSONLook, finger-pointing politics has been going on for a very long time. When President Clinton blamed Rush Limbaugh for the Oklahoma City bombing, I wrote the front-page story. When the New York Times blamed Sarah Palin for the wounding of Gabby Giffords (and the death of six others) because of a political map with crosshairs that the killer never saw a top editor told me I was wrong but later admitted Id been right. And when the guy who badly wounded Steve Scalise at a Republican baseball practice was revealed to be a regular Rachel Maddow watcher, liberals jumped on that one.So it is with the 22-year-old Kirk murder suspect and the pointless search for motive. Is it relevant that thealleged shooter is living with a transgender man who is becoming a woman? Sure. But anyone who would plot to kill Charlie Kirk for political reasons is by definition insane, as are all these nutjob school shooters. Its also true, by the way, that the constant attacks on the president the survivor of two assassination attempts as Hitler and worse foster an atmosphere in which another attack is more likely. But wait, theres a final guilt-by-association maneuver going on.We see it whenElon Musk immediately tweets "the left is the party of murder." We see it when Spencer Cox calls social media a "cancer."The social media point may well be true, but we cant put that genie back in the lamp.By blaming "the left," the X owner and others are depicting everyone who hasliberal viewpoints as culpable, even if they never heard of Charlie Kirk, even if they are shocked and appalled by his murder. And thats just, well, crazy.
