'NFL RedZone' host Scott Hanson admits commercial messaging was unclear after uproar
"NFL RedZone" host Scott Hanson said the message about commercials being a part of the beloved show was not clear, and that he understood why people would be upset."NFL RedZone," for the first time ever, announced it would implement commercials heading into the 2025-2026 season and fans took to social media to express their displeasure. Hanson broke the news on ESPNs "The Pat McAfee Show" prior to Week 1, and fans were in an uproar.Hanson told Fox News Digital that he wished the messaging about the commercials was more clear.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"I would have hoped that the messaging could have been a little different in advance. Meaning I think we should have just come out and said, Hey, yes, there are going to be commercials. There are going to be four, 15-second commercials spread out over the course of seven hours and we hope you dont notice any difference, or at least not much difference," Hanson told Fox News Digital in a recent interview."I don't think that message was clear. I think fans were angered because they thought there would be as many commercials in RedZone as there is in an individual NFL game, and it's already a pay channel. I get it that people were upset about it," Hanson said. The 54-year-old host said that as the host of the show that he didnt have any say in commercials being added."I'll say this. I understand as a consumer myself, why people would be upset. I'm the host of the show. The business folks handle the business side of things, and I don't have any control over that. I don't have any say in that. All I could tell you is, I want to show you more football than anyone else on the planet," Hanson said."And if there is someone else out there who wants to show you more football than I do, I would love to meet him. I would love that, because we would have some good fellowship together, because that's how I'm wired."START STREAMING WITH A 7-DAY FREE TRIAL ATFOXONE.COM OR DOWNLOAD THE FOX ONE APP ON YOUR FAVORITE DEVICEHanson said the feedback he got from fans after one week with commercials was good."Once people saw what the commercials looked like, some people said they didn't even notice the commercials. And it was a very successful show a very, very big audience, very successful show and I'm thankful that, hopefully now we'll get into the meat of the season, and people will still know that RedZone is the best one-stop shop for their football fandom," Hanson said.Hanson is partnered with Lowes for their "Earn Your Sunday" campaign. For millions of NFL fans, Sundays are about football, family, and tradition. With "Earn Your Sunday," Lowes is encouraging them to bring the same dedication and preparation they have for their teams into their homes. Hanson said that Lowes has everything you need to get your home project done during the week so that fans can enjoy their football Sundays."Lowe's has come up with a great campaign this year, called Earn Your Sunday. And the concept is this, we all have projects we need to do in the house, around the house, in the yard. Everyone's got them, right? Well, Lowe's is encouraging everyone to let's get it done during the week, on Friday or Saturday, so that you have earned your Sunday to be able to sit down and rock and roll with Uncle Scott, or with your favorite football team," Hanson said."I think this campaign this year will really resonate with fans, because none of us want to sit on the couch all day on Sunday and feel guilty. We want to know, Ah, got the projects done. You go to Lowe's, you get the things you need to required to get the projects done in your house. You have earned your Sunday."Philadelphia Eaglesrunning back Saquon Barkley, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott are all among NFL stars who support Lowes campaign."Its gonna be a lot of fun this season," Hanson said.Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Jay Leno calls Charlie Kirk assassination the 'death of free speech'
Comedian Jay Leno called the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk the "death of free speech" during an interview on Wednesday, denouncing the fatal shooting."Its not a random shooting. I mean, its the death of free speech, to think that you are so illiterate and so stupid you cant answer verbally, and you have to shoot somebody with a gun to win the argument," Leno said during an appearance on the "Tim Conway Jr. Show."Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday while speaking during a campus event at Utah Valley University."When I was in school, lively debate was unbelievable, to have the SDS, the Students for Democratic Society, debate somebody else," Leno continued. "I can remember when James Baldwin debated William F. Buckley at Oxford University, it was just fascinating."DATE SET FOR CHARLIE KIRK'S MEMORIAL SERVICE AS WIFE ERIKA BREAKS SILENCE"This is a political assassination of a man who I didnt necessarily agree with, but I certainly enjoyed listening to. Because, Oh, I didnt know that, okay and I didnt have to agree on everything," Leno said. "I mean, were at a point in this country where, if you dont agree with everybody on everything, you take out a gun, and you shoot them?"Leno lamented, "especially on a college campus."He also brought up the Kent State shootings in 1970, when the Ohio National Guard shot and killed four students and injured several others while protesting the Vietnam War.Host Tim Conway said that watching a good debate was like watching a boxing match and should be entertaining for both sides.CHARLIE KIRK ANSWERED 'HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED' LESS THAN 3 MONTHS BEFORE KILLINGLeno agreed and added, "And a lot of times, when you watch something by Charlie Kirk, it might enforce your own beliefs more, or it might change your mind.""But at least it gets you thinking," Leno said. "At least you're thinking about what's going on."Leno said he enjoyed listening to "the other side" because it was how he got smarter. The comedian and former host of "The Tonight Show" reiterated that the shooting marked, in his view, the death of free speech.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREAuthorities identified the suspect as Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah. Trendy cortisol cocktail could melt stress and pounds away, influencers claim
A trendy drink making the rounds on social media dubbed the "cortisol cocktail" is said to reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol in the body.Influencers claim that the non-alcoholic concoction can help reduce stress, improve energy levels and shed excess pounds. The mocktail typically consists of coconut water, salt, sparkling water and orange juice, while other versions may include ingredients like magnesium powder or cream of tartar.COMMON HEART DRUG DOUBLES AS OFF-LABEL ANXIETY AID, DRIVING SURGE IN PRESCRIPTIONSCortisol is a hormone released by the adrenal glands on the kidneys. It typically spikes when a person is experiencing stressful conditions, helping them stay alert and providing them with energy to deal with the challenging situation, according to Cleveland Clinics website."Cortisol is an important hormone that is released when your body might be stressed, and is involved in glucose metabolism and reducing inflammation," Dr. Frederick Davis, interim vice chair of emergency medicine atLong Island Jewish Medical CenterNorthwell Health in New Hyde Park, New York, told Fox News Digital. The hormone also helps to regulate blood pressure, blood sugar and the sleep-wake cycle, and can also help to bolster the immune system, according to health experts. While cortisol is important for survival, health problems can occur when there is too much or too little of the hormone in the body.NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER FLOODS YOUR BODY WITH HARMFUL STRESS HORMONESWhen the hormone is at a consistently high level, it can lead to inflammation and a weakened immune system, Cleveland Clinic stated, along with sleep issues, anxiety, high blood pressure, weight gain and fatigue."Cortisol is not necessarily the enemy," Caroline Susie, a registered dietitian in Dallas, Texas, told Fox News Digital. Susie, a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, confirmed that cortisol is "essential to health" and "not inherently harmful unless it is chronically elevated or deficient."Rather than reaching for a glass of wine to unwind, social media influencers claim that this mocktail can reduce high cortisol levels, making them feel more relaxed and energetic and, in some cases, helping them to lose weight. The cortisol cocktails ingredients contain vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and sodium, which are nutrients that can be depleted due to stress.Davis acknowledged the drinks potential benefits."Ingredients like coconut water have a number of electrolytes, like magnesium, which is involved in muscle and nerve function as well as immune and cardiovascular health," Davis told Fox News Digital.Other ingredients can help ensure proper hydration, the physician added.Davis did warn, however, that when it comes to lowering cortisol levels, the social media posts may be misleading.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTER"While many of the components in these cocktails have indirect effects on reducing stress, there have yet to be direct studies to show its efficacy in cortisol reduction through this cocktail," he told Fox News Digital.Susie reiterated that although the drinks have some nutritional value, theyre not proven to significantly impact cortisol or stress and they can be high in sugar or sodium. Individuals should "de-emphasize cortisol balancing and focus on holistic wellness," she advised.Rather than "chasing hormone-specific hacks," Susie said it is important to form foundational habits such as following a healthy diet, monitoring caffeine intake, exercising and prioritizing sleep hygiene."Cortisol follows a circadian rhythm peaking shortly after waking and tapering off at night. Disrupted sleep can throw this off," she told Fox News Digital. The expert also suggested trying relaxation techniques, such as breathing exercises and other activities. For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/health"Meditation, yoga, time in nature, creative hobbies all help shift the body from fight-or-flight to rest-and-digest," Susie said.It is important to speak to a healthcare provider about persistent symptoms like fatigue, sleep issues, mood changes or weight fluctuations, she added.

Religious liberty is America's core right. We must defend it for kids and parents
Lydia Booth was in fifth grade when she tried to spread hope with a COVID mask bearing a message of unconditional love.Shea Encinas was in fifth grade when his religious beliefs made him concerned about reading a book on sexual ideology to his kindergarten buddy.Justin Aguilar was a high school senior when he sought to incorporate the story of how he found strength through faith in his valedictorian speech.A group of children in Massachusetts were in elementary school and junior high when they were repeatedly subjected to bullying based on their Jewish faith, including obscene slurs like "Go to the gas chambers."TRUMP TO SPEAK AT MUSEUM OF THE BIBLE ON RELIGIOUS LIBERTY IN EDUCATIONThese humble and courageous young people, and others like them, who stand firm in their beliefs despite persecution, represent the best our country can offer. They deserve recognition and honor for their fortitude, selflessness and commitment to principle.Instead, they were targeted, harassed, threatened and bullied not only by classmates but by adults in leadership adults trusted to form, mentor, and guide them.Lydias school administrators made her feel like she had done something wrong. An employee at Sheas school called his best friend and urged him to denounce Shea and leverage the friendship to pressure Shea into compliance with the schools ideology.CONNECTICUT TEACHER FEARS CLASSROOM CROSS DISPUTE COULD COST HER JOBSchool leaders struck out both instances of the name of "Jesus Christ" in Justins speech, along with two out of the four mentions of God, informing him that the changes were constitutionally required.Administrations at the Jewish students school dismissed and downplayed the students experiences. We learned this week at our Religious Liberty Commission hearing that these examples of religious targeting of students arent isolated instances, attributable to some local or regional misunderstanding. Religious targeting isnt confined to states in particular locations or with particular political leanings. Its happening from Massachusetts to California and everywhere in between.TRUMP ADMIN ISSUES NEW GUIDANCE TO PROTECT RELIGIOUS EXPRESSION ACROSS FEDERAL WORKFORCEWe face an epidemic of religious discrimination, targeting our students and our parents. As President Trump said in his address to the Commission, "in many schools today, students are [hit] with anti-religious propaganda and some are even punished for their religious beliefs and very, very strongly punished."What is the cause? Most people must think that our legal system is the culprit, but this is not the full story. Part of the tragedy in these stories is that the students actually had the law on their side. The problems occurred because their leaders, knowingly or unknowingly, misguided the students and their families as to the scope of their rights. As Americans, religious liberty is our most fundamental right, and we must do better. We must protect our students and support the parents who love them and have the constitutional right to direct their religious upbringing.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONWe must follow the lead of President Donald Trumps Department of Education, which has pledged to offer clarifying guidance on prayer in schools. We must revise school policies and implement trainings to protect and inform everyday Americans about their religious liberty rights, in the same way we inform them of other workplace protections. We must also reconsider school curricula to ensure it celebrates truth and facilitates age-appropriate dialogue that is respectful of diverse religious beliefs. School administrators who assist and encourage students to transition and change their gender without the knowledge and consent of their parents should be held criminally and civilly responsible.Above all, we should start by teaching Americans and not just children about their rights under the First Amendment. This is core to the work of the Religious Liberty Commission. We must remind Americans of the protections they have and to rein in the feral, progressive-era misconstructions of the First Amendment that still prowl the country, making victims of children like these students. Our work as a Commission is only just beginning. At our next hearing on September 29, we will continue to explore the deep-rooted religious liberty issues in our education system.President Trump observed, "When faith gets weaker, our country seems to get weaker, [and] when faith gets stronger good things happen for our country."The same can be said for our schools. Its time for education to strengthen, rather than undermine, our parents, children, and families.Change begins with each of us as junior high student Lydia Booth reminded us, "[If] I had stayed silent, nothing wouldve changed[But] God can use even something as small as my mask to help ensure our amazing country remains free."

Charlie Kirk's close friend reveals what he would be 'proudest of' while reflecting on legacy
A close friend and colleague of Charlie Kirk says the conservative leader and media star "was one of one" and doubts he'll ever be replaced. But asked about a void in the conservative movement, Andy Surabian, who's a top political adviser to both Vice President JD Vance and Donald Trump Jr., told Fox News Digital that Kirk "inspired a generation of young conservatives who have the potential to grow into being somebody like Charlie Kirk."Kirk, who was shot and killed this past Wednesday during a college campus event in Utah, was a top conservative activist, culture warrior, and media rockstar for millions of MAGA and right-wing followers.A crucial ally to President Donald Trump, Vance, and Donald Trump Jr., Kirk transformed the Turning Point USA conservative youth organization that he co-founded at age 18 into an extremely influential political powerhouse and a voter turnout machine for Trump in last year's presidential election.HOW CHARLIE KIRK HELPED FUEL DONALD TRUMP'S RETURN TO THE WHITE HOUSE"I dont think theres any singular person who will ever replace Charlie Kirk," Surabian said. But pointing to Kirk's inspiration to a generation of younger conservatives, Surabian said, "This is the thing that Charlie would be proudest of, its the thing that makes me so proud of Charlie."UTAH'S GOVERNOR REVEALS POSSIBLE MOTIVE IN CHARLIE KIRK SHOOTINGSurabian said he and Kirk first met in 2018 and quickly became "generational peers.""We would constantly gut check things with each other.both of us respected the political instincts of the other," Surabian said. "There was an implicit trust."In a social media post, Surabian wrote that he and Kirk "bonded quickly over our similar political views and closeness in age, and ultimately developed a close friendship. We always had each other's back. If I needed help, I knew he would always be there for me. If he needed anything, I was always there for him. If there was a candidate for office he vouched for, that was all I needed. If there was a candidate for office I vouched for, that was all he needed."Surabian said Kirk was the person who introduced him to Vance, ahead of Vance's successful 2022 campaign for the Senate in Ohio."I was skeptical, but since Charlie was vouching for him, I was on the phone with JD within the hour. 90 minutes later, after JD and I had hit it off and decided to work together, Charlie excitedly told me I wouldn't regret it and he was certainly right about that," Surabian wrote.Speaking with Fox News, Surabian listed off Kirks' numerous political attributes."Charlie was a terrific fundraiser. He was beloved by donors. Charlie was extremely charismatic and was extremely impressive in debates. Charlie was very talented at doing media. He was a great talk show host. Charlie understood how to organize students. Charlie understood messaging and how to deliver a message in a way that even some of the top PR experts in the country couldnt touch with a 10-point pole. Charlie understood how to organize in politics. Very rarely do figures come along who can put all those things together the way Charlie put it together," Surabian highlighted."Never mind the fact that, in addition to all that stuff, he was highly intelligent. And most important of all, he was a fundamentally decent person," Surabian added. While Kirk had already accomplished much by age 31, Surabian predicted that his friend would have had many chapters to come."Despite how influential he became, despite how famous he was, I do absolutely believe that he was still at the start of his rise and not at the end of it," he said. And Surabian said that Kirk "was getting to a place where in a few years I think he had the potential to be the next Rush Limbaugh, and when I say that, anyone who understands the influence that Rush Limbaugh had on the conservative movement knows what a big statement that is."

A distinguished Harvard Law professor and legal scholar was hammered on social media after spreading a debunked rumor that the suspect in Charlie Kirks assassination was "ultra-MAGA" and that Republicans were trying to "blame" liberals for the tragedy.Laurence Tribe made the comment in a post on X that shared a lengthy post from an account called Occupy Democrats, which attempted to paint a picture of suspect Tyler Robinsons political ideology."Kirks apparent assassin seems to have been ultra-MAGA, exploding the GOP/MAGA attempt to pin the blame for this tragedy on liberals," wrote Tribe, a professor at Harvard Law School from 1968 until his retirement in 2020. He is currently the Carl M. Death penalty looms for Charlie Kirks accused killer but legal bar is high as Trump, Cox mount pressure
Law enforcement officials arrested the man accused of shooting and killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah on Friday after a frantic 33-hour manhunt. The suspect's fate now hinges on whether the state pursues capital charges as political pressure mounts.Prosecutors have not yet filed charges against Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing Kirk after driving nearly four hours to Utah Valley University, where the longtime Trump ally was speaking. It also remains unclear whether they will seek the death penalty, a step publicly urged by both President Donald Trump and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox.At a Friday news conference, Cox said investigators used surveillance footage from the stadium and tips from Robinsons family and friends to identify him before the arrest. He also said charges would be filed "soon.""We got him," Cox said.'THIS IS ON ALL OF US': LAWMAKERS TAKE HARD LOOK AT HOW POLITICAL RHETORIC PLAYED ROLE IN KIRK'S ASSASSINATIONThe governor vowed that Robinson would be "held accountable" for Kirk's death, which he called a "political assassination.""This is certainly about the tragic death, assassination, political assassination of Charlie Kirk, but it is also much bigger than an attack on an individual," Cox said. "It is an attack on all of us. It is an attack on the American experiment."Kirk's graphic death and the scant public information revealed in its wake have left the nation reeling and revived heated debate about political violence in the U.S. It's also sparked a litany of questions about how prosecutors will bring the case against Robinson, with Utah law and years of precedent making capital punishment difficult to pursue.ENGRAVINGS ON SHOOTER'S AMMO EXPOSES CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION MOTIVERobinson is being held at Utah County Jail. A probable cause affidavit reviewed by Fox News Digital lists potential charges including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious injury and obstruction of justice.Utah law allows prosecutors to seek the death penalty only in cases where an individual is charged with "aggravated murder" or a murder that knowingly "created a great risk of death" to another person besides the victim or defendant. The offense is listed in the affidavit, which could open the door for prosecutors to seek the death penalty. The clock is ticking: Utah law requires state prosecutors to file a specific notice of intent within 60 days after an individual is arraigned on aggravated murder charges to notify the court and defense attorneys that they plan to try the case as a capital felony. Doing so sets into motion a complex legal process including a two-part, or bifurcated trial, to decide both guilt and whether the defendant should receive capital punishment.Otherwise, the case is tried under charges of a "noncapitalist fist-degree penalty," eligible for a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.TRUMP SAYS SLAIN CONSERVATIVE ACTIVIST CHARLIE KIRK WAS 'LIKE A SON' TO HIM IN EMOTIONAL TRIBUTECox and Trump both suggested in interviews earlier this week that the state should seek the death penalty against Kirk's killer, even before Robinson was named as a suspect."I hope he gets the death penalty," Trump said Friday morning on "Fox & Friends," calling Kirk "the finest person."The Beehive State is one of 27 states that still allows the death penalty, according to the Death Penalty Information Center. It's also one of just five states where execution by firing squad remains legal.SECRET SERVICE UNDER PRESSURE: WHAT KIRKS ASSASSINATION MEANS FOR TRUMPS SECURITYEven so, capital punishment cases are rarely pursued in Utah. The state has carried out only two executions in the past 20 years, and inmates spend an average of 34 years on death row.Only four men are currently on death row in Utah, each for "decades," according to KUTV. For Robinson, whose criminal trial will draw national attention, particularly from the president and his allies, it's still far too early to predict the outcome.Already, Robinson's case has fueled intense speculation even as some lawmakers urged calm."History will dictate if this is a turning point for our country," Cox said, "but every single one of us gets to choose right now if this is a turning point for us."

Wikipedia debates deleting the profile page of Charlie Kirks wife, Erika
A debate is raging among Wikipedia editors over whether to delete the profile page of Erika Kirk, wife of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Her Wikipedia entry is currently locked, with users unable to make changes as editor nominators argue she fails the sites notability standard and lacks significant independent coverage.Erika did not have a standalone Wikipedia page before her husbands death. Editors noted the article was created on Thursday in the immediate aftermath of the killing.CHARLIE KIRK HONORED AS 'GENERATION'S GREATEST' AT MASSIVE LONDON RALLY WHERE MUSK CONDEMNS LEFTWhile Erika did not have a major public profile beforehand, she has been thrust into the national spotlight since Wednesdays tragedy. Her emotional and defiant speech Friday night drew millions of viewers worldwide, and several major outlets have since profiled her.In the speech, she vowed that Turning Point USA would continue its campus tour this fall. The entry is currently locked until Sept. 18.However, the majority of those weighing in have argued that her profile should be kept, writing that there is significant public interest in her now due to current headlines."Wikipedia looks ridiculous with a banner on top noting that this topic is being targeted for deletion," one user wrote. "And it can't be edited until Sept. 18? Again, ridiculous. She gave a speech Friday night, two nights after the murder (covered live only by FOX) in which she forcefully declared her intentions to take the TPUSA movement forward. The clamps need to be removed."Another echoed those sentiments."This is ridiculous nitpicking. She is NOW notable, so she should now be included in Wiki," the user wrote. "There are plenty of people highlighted in Wiki that are far from notable as many would define it."Many keep votes are driven by current public interest and her Miss Arizona win in 2012 arguments sometimes seen as weaker under policy.Although the keep votes are in the majority, the decision will ultimately hinge on whether administrators believe theres enough independent, significant coverage to meet the bar. Policy-heavy delete rationales carry weight.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News Digital reached out to Wikipedia for comment but did not receive a response in time for publication.Wikipedia has often been criticized for leaning left.
