WWW.FOXNEWS.COMI'm a Democrat, and Charlie Kirk's murder must unite all Americans against violencePoliticians on both sides of the aisle have rightly decried political violence, specifically the senseless murder of an exceptional young man: Charlie Kirk.Kirk was one of the most prominent and forceful advocates of the Trump administration's MAGA policies. He was also, in large part, a key contributor to President Donald Trump's election victory in 2024.Violence whether directed at Trump, Charlie Kirk, CEOs, Gov. Josh Shapiro, or state legislators in Minnesota must stop.It must stop now.CHARLIE KIRK'S ASSASSINATION LATEST CASE OF CONSERVATIVES BEING TARGETED FOR MURDERAs a country, we need to do more to end the rising tide of political violence gripping the nation.Let me be very clear: I have argued for as long as I have been in political and public life that we need to lower our volume, lower our temperature and unite. We must do more to achieve our common purpose as a nation.Never is that truer than it is today. To be sure, it is misguided to blame the opposite political party for violence when it occurs. Doing so is destructive, divisive and weakens our social fabric at home as well as our standing globally. But it does more than that.JB PRITZKER CONDEMNS POLITICAL VIOLENCE AFTER CHARLIE KIRK'S DEATH, SAYS TRUMP'S RHETORIC 'OFTEN FOMENTS IT'As a nation, we have always prided ourselves on our ability to cooperate to disagree, yes, but to have a loyal opposition and free debate, not wholesale attacks that may or may not lead to violence. Moreover, whether certain rhetoric translates into violence or not, it has inevitably contributed to a toxic and divisive political culture we can no longer accept.Frankly, when I hear my party, the Democrats, say that they need to get more aggressive and more hostile against the Republicans, I take great issue with that on both rhetorical and substantive grounds. The last thing we need now is a government shutdown. Notwithstanding what some like Ezra Klein have said in The New York Times, we do not need to fight the Trump administration simply for the sake of fighting.CHARLIE KIRK'S MURDER THE LATEST IN INCREASING POLITICAL VIOLENCE NATIONWIDE, FROM PA GOVERNOR TO SCOTUSWe need to advocate constructively for protecting the social safety net Medicare, Medicaid, food programs and other social welfare initiatives and make every effort not to close the government but rather to keep it open.Similarly, I would say to my Republican friends that it is wrong to demonize the left, even when rhetoric is inappropriate and extreme.I decry it and hope that they will lower their voices, but I believe the country needs particularly as I write this on 9/11 a period of reconciliation.CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION ROCKS CAPITOL HILL, HEIGHTENS LAWMAKERS' SECURITY FEARSWe need to avoid entering an era like the one we faced during Vietnam in the 1960s, when within a roughly two-month period two of our most important leaders, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, were gunned down senselessly and brutally.Allow me to be very clear about what I'm not doing here. I'm not trying to blame the left, nor am I trying to blame the right. While scant details have emerged, I do not know for certain the ideology of the shooter who killed Charlie Kirk. But to me, it is important to use this not as a vehicle for attack or revenge, but as a tool for political reconciliation. Both Democrats and Republicans can cooperate on things like tighter borders, even if we disagree on overall immigration policy.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONWe can agree that Ukraine needs support, even if we disagree on the precise nature and scope of it. We can agree that we must protect the social safety net, even if Republicans disagree on which programs should and should not be protected. And above all, we can agree that while both sides may have different opinions on what is best for the United States of America, at our core, Democrats and Republicans all want the country to succeed and prosper. But what we cannot disagree on is our essential purpose as a nation: a free-market, capitalist society that works to improve the greater good for all Americans in a constructive and safe environment.Hopefully, the legacy of Charlie Kirk a proud American, a zealous advocate and a fighter for what he believed in will lead to a period of greater cooperation and consensus, the kind President Trump spoke about so movingly during his speech at the Republican National Convention in 2024 after his own assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.I say this in the hope that people will take it not as a homily, but as a call to action. Our country has never required more unity, a centrality of purpose, and a greater willingness on both sides to cooperate and reconcile.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM DOUG SCHOEN0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 34 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMNation's Report Card gives public schools a failing grade. Parents are demanding betterThe newest results from the Nation's Report Card were a gut punch. Nearly half of high school seniors scored below basic in math and reading. Compared to 2019, the last time the test was administered, the results are abysmal. Its just one more sign that our education system is falling short of preparing students for college, work and life. But heres the thing: parents didnt need another test to tell them this. They see it every day. EdChoices2025Schooling in America Surveyfound that 68% of Americans and 60% of parents believe K12 education is on the wrong track. Families are already deeply concerned about the quality of education their kids are receiving and theyre searching for something better.Additionally, our polling consistently finds that more than half of parents say theyd prefer a school other than their local district school if given the opportunity to choose. Yet roughly eight in 10 children remain in those schools. Parents want change, but too many either dont know what options are available to them or run into barriers when they try to make a switch.THE FIGHT OVER CHARTER SCHOOLS IN SOME OF AMERICA'S RURAL STATESBut when they do get the chance to choose, the difference in satisfaction with their school is striking. About half of private school parents 49% say they are "very satisfied" with their childs schooling experience, a whopping 17 points higher than public school parents. When families can match their childs needs with the right environment, kids thrive, parents are less stressed and whole communities benefit. The good news for all of us is that school choice is no longer just a talking point. Its increasingly becoming the norm across the country. Many states now offer educational choice programs available to every student, while many others have programs serving targeted groups. In just the past year, enrollment in private choice programsgrew by 25% nationwide, surpassing 1.3 million students. Families are voting with their feet, moving toward schools and programs they believe will help their children succeed. Why? Because the evidence backs them up.Study after study showsthat educational choice benefits students academically, strengthens civic values, boosts parental satisfaction andeven improves public schools.Parents also support these programs at remarkable levels. For more than a decade, our survey has asked Americans how they feel about different school choice policies. Year after year, the majority of parents voice support. This year, 83% of parents say they support education savings accounts (ESAs). Other policies like vouchers, charter schools and tax-credit scholarships garner high support. Importantly, three-fourths of Americans say ESAs should be universally available, not limited by income or need. That support cuts across political lines and speaks to a simple truth: every family deserves the freedom to find the right education for their child.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThe latest NAEP scores should jolt policymakers into action. We cannot keep sending students to schools that arent working for them just because of where they live. Families are already moving, finding new schools, forming learning pods and applying for scholarships. Leaders should be making that easier, not harder. The stakes could not be higher. Our childrens futures and, by extension, our nations future, depend on an education system that works. Parents are ready for change. Its time to give them the freedom to choose the schools that will unlock their childrens potential.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 35 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMCharlie Kirk remembered by his pastor as 'hero' of faith after Utah assassinationFor Pastor David Engelhardt, Charlie Kirk wasnt just a national figure he was a friend, disciple and man whose faith fueled his public mission and private life."Charlie was a man of incredible strength. His name, Charlie Kirk, means strong church, and I always told him, Charlie, you strengthen churches all over the country" Engelhardt said while paying tribute to the slain conservative activist on Thursday."He wasn't shy about his faith. He wasn't avoidant, afraid that it would offend people. That's why he's a hero, because he was courageous, and he wasn't demeaning to other people about their position, but he was a strong man of faith."OPINION: CHARLIE KIRK DIED AS HE LIVED: BOLD, UNASHAMED AND ANCHORED IN FAITHThe two first met in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when Kirk challenged Engelhardt to reopen his church. The pastor claimed his church became the first in New York to reopen its doors a step that, he said, Kirk encouraged pastors nationwide to follow in defense of truth and freedom.CHARLIE KIRK WAS PROUD CHAMPION OF CHRISTIANITY ON CAMPUSES NATIONWIDE: 'I'M NOTHING WITHOUT JESUS'Now, after the Turning Point USA co-founder's shocking assassination on a Utah college campus on Wednesday, Engelhardt mourns with others in Kirk's close circle people who say he changed their lives and the lives of others for the better."Heroes are hard to come by. We don't have many heroes these days and Charlie was a hero who was courageous. He was a sacrificer, he was a leader, and he stood for truth."That courage, he added, bore lasting results: "That is what produced, I think in part, such a beautiful fruit of Turning Point USA and the hundreds of thousands of young people that have been so deeply impacted by it."Kirk's death saddened, enraged and disturbed many, and has inspired a slew of tributes and messages of sympathy. On Thursday afternoon, authorities released photos of a person of interest who remains on the loose.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 12 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMArchaeologists discover rare Christian artifact on remote island amid luxury resortsA rare cross was recently uncovered in the United Arab Emirates, shedding light on Christian history during the early Islamic era.The discovery, made at Sir Bani Yas Island in the Persian Gulf, was announced by Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism in August. The island contains a variety of luxury resorts and wildlife reserves. Though remote, Sir Bani Yas Island is still accessible via water taxis or private planes.ARCHAEOLOGISTS UNCOVER ANCIENT BAPTISTERY IN FRANCE TIED TO EARLY CHRISTIAN RITUALSOfficials noted in a release that the discovery was part of the first excavation on the island in 30 years. The cross was linked to a local Christian monastery built between the 7th and 8th centuries.Officials described the artifact as "molded on a plaster plaque, an object believed to have been used by monks for spiritual contemplation."A picture of the find shows that the plaque had shattered over time before archaeologists reconstructed it.The monastery was part of a large complex that included a church and a place where "senior monks retreated for periods of contemplation and ascetic seclusion," according to officials.ARCHAEOLOGIST UNEARTHS MYSTERIOUS CHRISTIAN SETTLEMENT HIDDEN AWAY FOR CENTURIES"The style of the cross shows similarities with finds from Iraq and Kuwait, and is linked to the Church of the East, which has origins in ancient Iraq," the statement added.Christianity spread through the Arabian Peninsula between 300 and 500 A.D. After the Arab conquests, Christians and Muslims coexisted in modern-day Abu Dhabi. The monastery was "peacefully abandoned" before 800 A.D., according to officials.Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chair of the culture and tourism department, called the discovery "a powerful testament to the UAE's profound and enduring values of coexistence and cultural openness."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERHe added, "It stirs within us a deep sense of pride and honor and reminds us that peaceful coexistence is not a modern construct, but a principle woven into the very fabric of our region's history."Officials added that the Sir Bani Yas church and monastery site is open to the public, offering Christian tourists a chance to connect with their religious history. For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle"[The site has] a small exhibition of artifacts from previous excavations, such as glass chalices, a cross-shaped stucco, and a stamp seal with a scorpion motif," the statement added."A multi-faith church, inspired by the ancient site, has also been built adjacent to the visitor center."Early Christian artifacts and discoveries are of high interest to archaeologists, and countless finds are made each year.In July, Egyptian officials announced that they had found two Christian churches in Egypt that are over 1,500 years old, including one that contains a mural of Jesus.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 49 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMEmmy-winning 'Morning Show' series will skip Trump re-election in latest season, producers revealProducers of Apple TV+s drama-satire series "The Morning Show" confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday that its upcoming season will not focus on the 2024 presidential election, despite being set in that year. The Emmy-winning series, starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, follows characters behind a fictional broadcast morning news program and was inspired by CNN correspondent Brian Stelters 2013 book "Top of the Morning."Despite its fictionalized characters, "The Morning Show" has tackled several real-world political topics, such as the #MeToo movement, the coronavirus pandemic and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.VARIETY REPORT SAYS TV CAN'T SUGARCOAT OUR 'QUICK PLUNGE INTO FASCISM'However, its fourth season, set to premiere Sept. 17, will largely avoid what is arguably the most political event of all: the 2024 presidential election and President Donald Trumps re-election."We did not touch the election this season ends right before the election," director and executive producer Mimi Leder told The Hollywood Reporter. "Our show is not about elections; our show is about the world, about AI, about deepfakes, about environmental tragedies. Its about democracy. Its about journalists in jeopardy, journalists under threat, and our main theme this season is trust who can you trust?"Though the show wont cover the election, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt said Trump and then-President Joe Biden will be referenced as a commentary on "two older White men" running for office.HOLLYWOOD INSIDERS SAY TRUMP'S RETURN HAS A CHILLING EFFECT ON FILM INDUSTRY"We try to go at it sideways. We dont really have, directly, an election story, but we do touch on the idea of: Why were two older White men running for president. Why do we still need daddy?" Stoudt joked. One of the shows co-stars, Nestor Carbonell, also described the upcoming season as having less emphasis on the "political" angle and more focus on the "social implications" of things."There are politics, but theyre politics within the station, less so on the political election," Carbonell said.Shortly after Trumps inauguration, entertainment insiders warned that people would "generally become more self-censoring and less capable of critiquing the current political moment, if not less influential overall."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURESome attributed this to fear of criticizing Trump, while others cited audiences "preemptive exhaustion" with rhetorical storytelling."Weve been seeing the departure of executives at the studios that had been hired to promote DEI in film and TV. Hollywood had swung too far left over the past few years and there was bound to be a reckoning," a blockbuster producer told Vulture in January.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 47 مشاهدة 0 معاينة
