A Florida city council meeting erupted into chaos over plans to demolish a World War II veterans' memorial to make way for a government campus redevelopment project."The voice of the people is stronger than ever, and they are saying loud and clear, Stop this project.' A new report reveals that more than 14,000 migrants who had hoped to cross into the United States have turned back and reversed course due to the Trump administration's hardline border enforcement policies.The new phenomenon, referred to as "reverse flow" migration, has mainly impacted migrants fleeing the economic and political turmoil in Venezuela and who had been moving north through Central America toward the U.S.Since 2017, around 8 million people have fled the political crisis in Venezuela.The report, published by the governments of Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica with the support of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, said that northward migration had plummeted by 97% this year.TRUMP'S DHS TOUTS MASSIVE NUMBER OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS DEPORTED AS DEMS LASH OUT AT ICE"Its time to go back the American dream wasnt like this," one migrant said, per the report.The report links the reversal to President Donald Trump's border policies, with 46% of migrants citing policy changes and 49% saying they could not enter the U.S. Another 34% ran out of resources and 17% feared detention or deportation.Migration through the treacherous Darin Gap on the border of Colombia and Panama peaked in 2023 when more than half a million migrants crossed.The report also blames U.S. financial reductions for drying up humanitarian aid. As a result, NGOs and U.N. agencies that were filling protection gaps in places like the Darin Gap and along return routes had to shut down or scale back operations.Additionally, tougher transit restrictions in Panama mean the traditional pipeline toward the U.S. is nearly shut.That flow slowed somewhat in 2024 but dried up almost completely early this year as President Trump fulfilled his campaign promise of shutting the border.Southwest border apprehensions hit amonthly record low in July, with only 4,399 apprehensions, according to the U.S. Border Patrol. For the third month in a row, there were zero releases. Others said they didnt know where they were going.Some migrants will continue moving south within Latin America, but the report warns they face unsafe boat journeys, dependence on smugglers and criminal groups that prey on returnees. Others remain stranded in places like Palenque, Miramar, Necocl, Baha Solano and Medelln, sleeping in parks or abandoned buildings without access to food, shelter or medical care.Humanitarian monitors said many are turning to survival strategies such as informal work, begging or even transactional sex."We dont know whether to stay in Colombia or go to Chile. I worry a lot about my children; theyre tired of moving so much," one migrant said."Imagine, Im back in the same place I left many years ago chasing a dream," another said. Idaho State Police have released hundreds of additional images taken during their investigation into college murderer Bryan Kohberger, giving the first public glimpse of his spartan apartment in Pullman, just across the state line at Washington State University.The images show he left few belongings behind, including cleaning supplies, books on crime and some of his school essays plus a closet full of white and blue button-down shirts and some other odds and ends. Another shipping box had an unopened can of "inert" bear spray.Police previously said in court documents that they found nothing of evidentiary value in Kohberger's campus office, which he shared with two other Ph.D. students. Photos show a mostly empty desk, save for a couple of textbooks, and Kohberger's name written on a dry-erase board alongside some notes and redacted materials.It's not clear how useful the evidence they took from his apartment turned out to be aside from possibly the hard drive in his PC. Experts from the digital forensics firm Cellebrite told Fox News Digital last month that they were given his phone and a single computer drive to examine.From those devices, they saw he attempted to cover up his movements on the night of the murders and wiped a month's worth of browser history but he also spent that Christmas reading up on serial killers, took numerous "American Psycho" style selfies and had only 18 contacts in his phone while only keeping in touch with his immediate family.Kohberger pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one of felony burglary in July, weeks before he would have gone to trial for the murders of Xana Kernodle, 20, Ethan Chapin, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, and Madison Mogen, 21.The plea deal spared him from the potential death penalty, which prosecutors said they would seek if he were convicted. He waived his rights to appeal and to seek a sentence reduction in exchange for four consecutive terms of life in prison with no parole, plus another 10 years.He is being held at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution, where he is in protective custody in a wing known as J Block, which also houses death row inmates, including fellow murderer Chad Daybell.
