WWW.FOXNEWS.COMEpstein estate to hand over 'birthday book' to lawmakers, House Dem saysLawmakers could soon have Jeffrey Epsteins infamous "birthday book," which could potentially give insight into the disgraced late financiers social ties.Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., who serves as the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, told MSNBC on Friday that Epsteins estate "is actually going to actually now get us that book and a bunch of other documents that they have thats not actually been reported yet." He added that the lawmakers expect to receive the book and the documents on Sept. 8.Garcia also told MSNBC that "many of the victims" of Epstein would speak to lawmakers on Capitol Hill next week to "highlight their stories." He did not name the lawmakers or accusers expected to meet.EPSTEIN ESTATE HIT WITH NEW HOUSE SUBPOENA FOR 'CLIENT LIST,' CALL LOGSThe release date is confirmed in the subpoena which was signed by House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky. The specific deadline listed in the subpoena is Sept. 8 at 12:00 p.m."The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is reviewing the possible mismanagement of the federal governments investigation of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell, the circumstances and subsequent investigations of Mr. Epsteins death, the operation of sex-trafficking rings and ways for the federal government to effectively combat them, and potential violations of ethics rules related to elected officials," Comer stated in a cover letter that accompanied the subpoena.TRUMP DOJ HANDING EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS TO HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE ON FRIDAY AS SUBPOENA DEADLINE LOOMS"Recent reporting indicates the estate of Mr. Epstein has access to documents relevant to the Committees investigation, including the alleged birthday book prepared for Mr. Epstein by Ms. Maxwell It is imperative that Congress conduct oversight of the federal governments enforcement of sex trafficking laws generally and specifically its handling of the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell," Comer added.BILL BARR, FORMER TRUMP ATTORNEY GENERAL, TO FACE HOUSE INVESTIGATORS IN EPSTEIN PROBEHouse Oversight Democrats released a statement Monday supporting the subpoena for the book and calling on former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida and Trump Labor Secretary Alex Acosta to testify before Congress. He is expected to appear for a closed-door transcribed interview next month. With a federal probe of the case under way, lawmakers have sought the testimonies of several former high-ranking officials, such as former Attorney General Bill Barr. While Barr testified before lawmakers, Democrats, such as Reps. Suhas Subramanyam, D-Va., and Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, were not pleased with Republicans questions.Comer, who argued those accusations were baseless, implored Democrats not to politicize a bipartisan investigation. Divisions deepened after Comer said Barr had no knowledge of, nor did he believe there were any implications of wrongdoing on President Donald Trump's part related to Epstein.Garcia disagreed. Though he did not attend the deposition, he said in a statement that Barr did not clear Trump.Fox News Digitals Elizabeth Elkind contributed to this report.0 Comments 0 Shares 14 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMDNC's summer showdown: Infighting exposes cracks in Democrats' unity narrative against GOP agendaMINNEAPOLIS, MN - Democrats came ready to fight as they huddled this week at the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) annual summer meeting. But despite repeated talk that the party is unified as it aims to exit the political wilderness following last year's election setbacks, Democrats fought among themselves multiple times during the three-day confab, which was held in Minnesota's largest city.As Democrats hunger for a more forceful response to counter President Donald Trump's sweeping and controversial agenda, DNC Chair Ken Martin targeted the president, arguing Trump's acting as "a dictator-in-chief" and that his second administration is "fascism dressed in a red tie."Martin, pointing to pushback by Democrats against moves this summer by Trump and Republicans to create more right-leaning U.S. House seats in states across the country through rare mid-decade congressional redistricting ahead of next year's midterm elections, said that he's "sick and tired of this Democratic Party bringing a pencil to a knife fight."TRUMP, DEMOCRATS, MULL HOLDING PRESIDENTIAL-STYLE CONVENTIONS AHEAD OF 2026 MIDTERMS"We cannot be the only party that plays by the rules anymore," he urged. And DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta, in a Fox News Digital interview on the sidelines of the meeting, urged that Democrats "have to engage in a level of fight, not power for power's sake, but we have to fight hard because we understand what's at stake for working people and working families."DNC CHAIR DEMANDS DEMOCRATS STOP BRINGING A PENCIL TO A KNIFE FIGHT'And echoing Martin, he said, "We've been playing checkers. They're playing Grand Theft Auto," as he referred to the long-running and popular action-adventure video game series that revolves around shooting, driving, and stealing cars.Amid talk that the party remains divided over a slew of policy and political issues, leaders preached unity."We do not have the luxury to fight amongst ourselves while that thing sits in the White House," 2024 Democratic Party vice presidential nominee and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz emphasized, as he referred to Trump. And Martin highlighted that "in this big tent party of ours, we are unified towards one single goal: to stop Donald Trump and put this country back on track."At several smaller panel discussions during the confab, a leader from the donor portal for Democrats known as ActBlue shared what was described as a fight song to energize party members. The song and the lyrics, which were reported by Semafor, were mocked by conservatives on social media. While unity was a top theme in Minneapolis, divisions did flare during the summer meeting. There was plenty of disagreement as the DNC's Resolutions Committee considered two dueling resolutions on the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. The panel voted down a symbolic resolution calling for an arms embargo and suspension of U.S. military aid to Israel, which has long been the top American ally in the Middle East.A separate resolution introduced and supported by Martin that called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, as well as unrestricted access to humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, was unanimously passed by the panel. But the defeat of the second, more forceful resolution, which was introduced by 26-year-old Allison Minnerly, a new DNC member from Florida, sparked opposition among some members on the panel.DEMOCRATS DIVIDED: TENSIONS FLARE OVER WAR IN GAZA"Its not enough," Sophia Danenberg, a DNC committee member from Washington D.C., said as she pointed to Martin's resolution. "People want to hear a louder, stronger, statement."Danenberg emphasized, "I do fear that we're losing our future as the Democratic Party by not being courageous on this issue."Minutes later, following a private conversation between Martin and Minnerly, the DNC chair asked the committee to "withdraw my resolution so we can move united today and have the conversation.""We need to keep working through this. We have to find a path forward as a party, and we have to stay unified," the chair added.Martin's move, which was embraced by the committee, may buy a little bit of time, but the party remains divided on the issue.Joe Salas, a DNC committee member from California and a Muslim American, told Fox News after the defeat of Minnerly's resolution, that "I think there is a disconnect between the people on the committee and the average lock-stock-and-barrel voters who identify with the Democratic Party."The showdown over the resolutions came as the Democratic Party's once nearly unshakable support for Israel has fractured amid the bloodshed. And concerns over the growing death toll among Palestinians by many in the party's progressive base have soared this spring and summer, amid what many describe as a famine in Gaza. Recent polling indicates support for Israel's continued military actions in Gaza is plummeting among Democrats.Democrats are aiming to rebound after last year's elections when the party lost control of the White House and the Senate. Democrats also fell short in their bid to win back the House majority and Republicans made gains with voters who make up key parts of the Democratic Party's base. But the situation has only deteriorated for the Democrats in the 10 months since last year's election setbacks, according to key metrics. The Democrats' brand is deeply unpopular, especially with younger voters, as the party's poll numbers continue to drop to all-time lows in national surveys. The DNC continues to face a massive fundraising deficit at the hands of the rival Republican National Committee (RNC), as well as concerns over lagging party registration. But Martin was optimistic. While he acknowledged "that our cash on hand seems to be low by comparison to the Republicans," he touted at Wednesday morning's Executive Committee meeting that "we have raised $70 million so far this year, which is a record."And Martin pointed to a special election victory Tuesday night in red state Iowa, where the Democrats flipped a GOP-held state Senate seat."This is now 40 key elections this year that we've won or overperformed in," Martin touted. "I want you to think about that for a second. Democrats, there's wind at our back. We have overperformed in every single election that's been on the ballot since Donald Trump was inaugurated."After a rough stretch after winning election as DNC chair in February, Martin appears to have steadied himself this summer, and there was plenty of praise for the new chair during the meeting, which on Wednesday was adjourned early after the deadly church shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis just a few miles from the DNC meeting. But Republicans say they're also thrilled with Martin's tenure so far."Under Ken Martins leadership, Democrats have sunk to their lowest approval rating in 35 years, the DNC is still paying off millions in debt from Kamala Harris failed campaign," RNC communications director Zach Parkinson told Fox News. "As Republicans, we think he is doing a fantastic job, and we fully endorse him to stay on as DNC Chair."0 Comments 0 Shares 18 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMWalking Tall sheriff accused of murdering his wife following cold case twist: authoritiesTennessee sheriff Buford Pusser, once celebrated as a crime-busting hero and the inspiration behind the Hollywood hit movie "Walking Tall," faces new accusations of pulling the trigger that killed his own wife.A cold-case review by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has concluded that there is probable cause that Pusser, who died in 1974, staged his wifes 1967 murder. Prosecutors said Friday that if he were alive today, they would present an indictment to a grand jury for the murder of his wife, Pauline Mullins Pusser.Investigators also said they uncovered signs that Pauline suffered from domestic violence.'GO BIG OR GO HOME': DISTURBING CONFESSION FROM HUSBAND WHO ALLEGEDLY MURDERED WIFE AND CONCEALED HER BODYThe McNairy County sheriff died in a car crash seven years after his wife's death. For nearly six decades, the public believed that Buford and his wife were ambushed while responding to a disturbance. According to his account at the time, shots were fired from a passing vehicle, leaving Pauline dead and Buford severely wounded. The case closed, largely resting on his own testimony.Prosecutors joined forces with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which reopened Paulines case in 2022 during a cold-case sweep, according to agency director David Rausch.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? And of course, my family would always go to Pauline if they had an issue or they needed some advice and she was always there for them. She was just a sweet person. WWW.FOXNEWS.COM'Yogurt Shop Murders': Austins unsolved cold case continues to raise questions decades laterMore than 30 years after the brutal murder of four teenage girls in an Austin yogurt shop, a crime that stunned the city and remains unsolved, a new HBO Max docuseries is shining fresh light on the cold case.On Dec. 6, 1991, firefighters responding to a blaze at the I Cant Believe Its Yogurt store made a horrifying discovery: the bodies of Eliza Thomas, 17; sisters Jennifer, 17, and Sarah Harbison, 15; and Sarahs best friend Amy Ayers, 13.All had been shot in the head. Authorities believe the girls were bound, some sexually assaulted, and that the fire was intentionally set to destroy evidence.SUSPECTED SERIAL KILLER MAY HAVE ABDUCTED NEWS ANCHOR WHO VANISHED 30 YEARS AGO: DOCThe crime shocked Austin, a city that "lost its innocence" that night, a Texas lawmaker said."I remember at the time how shocking it was because I think Austin, at that time, was still a relatively small town in Texas that kind of lost its innocence on that day," Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas previously told Fox News.McCaul, former Texas deputy attorney general and former federal prosecutor, passed legislation giving the families of cold case victims the opportunity to petition the federal government to reexamine cases older than three years. The legislation, known as The Homicide Victim Families' Rights Act, requires the federal government to inform family members of cold case victims of their right to do so, the congressman explained."This brutal murder of four teenage girls, and the way it was done that may happen in other cities, but not Austin. It was very shocking, and part of it is because the families never got a resolution to the case."The initial investigation led police to 17-year-old Maurice Pierce, who was found carrying a handgun similar in caliber to the murder weapon. Pierces arrest prompted questioning of three other teens, Michael Scott, Robert Springsteen, and Forrest Wellborn.FRIENDS WHO DISCOVERED IDAHO MURDER VICTIMS REVEAL EERIE OMEN BEFORE THE MASSACREOver the next eight years, three of the young men confessed at different times to involvement in the murders. Scott and Springsteen were convicted in 2001 and 2002. However, their convictions were later overturned due to questionable interrogation methods and a lack of physical evidence, and no DNA matches.By 2009, both men were released, and all charges were dropped. Pierce and Wellborn were never convicted. No one has ever been held accountable for the murders.Investigators say more than 1,200 people were considered potential suspects over the years, and false confessions were common. In 1992, a biker gang leader in Mexico was briefly suspected but later cleared after revealing his confession had been extracted through torture.INDIANA CORONER SAYS POLICE 'DROPPED THE BALL' IN FOX HOLLOW FARM SERIAL KILLER CASEThe focus eventually returned to the four original suspects, but without physical evidence to tie them to the crime scene, the case unraveled in court.A 2020 DNA test reportedly linked crime scene evidence to an unknown male, according to the Austin American-Statesman. The FBI is said to have a sample from the same individual, but legal hurdles have so far kept Austin police from accessing it.Detective Dan Jackson, who took over the case in 2022, told USA Today earlier this year that the fire and firefighting efforts destroyed key evidence, but he remains optimistic."If I didnt believe this case could be solved, I wouldnt be doing this," Jackson said. "The technology we have today is far beyond what we had just a few years ago I truly believe well find who did this."A spokesperson for the Austin Police Department told Fox News Digital that they are unable to comment on the details as the case remains an active and ongoing investigation, adding that there is no additional information available for release.HBO Maxs four-part docuseries The Yogurt Shop Murders, which debuted Aug. 3, revisits the case and shines a spotlight on alleged investigative mistakes. The series features interviews with detectives, victims family members, and never-before-seen footage from an abandoned documentary, according toVariety. For many in Austin, and the families of Eliza, Jennifer, Sarah and Amy, the hope is that the renewed attention, combined with advanced forensic tools, will finally bring justice."Theyogurtshop murders left an undeniable mark on the Austin community. More than 30 years later, we still mourn the loss of those four teenage girls and long for answers about their deaths," Congressman McCaul told Fox News Digital."Im grateful a light is being shone on theyogurtshop murders again and hope those responsible will ultimately be brought to justice."0 Comments 0 Shares 17 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMCaitlin Clark's teammate sports two black eyes after collision with WNBA opponentIndiana Fever star Lexie Hull and Seattle Storm forward Gabby Williams collided when the two WNBA teams met on Tuesday. In the days since, Hull has developed a pair of black eyes. Fever coach Stephanie White said the marks underscored Hull's grit."Every time I see her, I'm like, 'Oh, poor Lexie,'" White said on Friday. "But you know, I think it really epitomizes Lexie's toughness when you look at her, and you see those two black eyes. I mean, she's tough as nails, you know."CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"She plays all out, every possession, all the time, and sometimes the result is two black eyes, and so I smile every time I see her. But it definitely is a picture-perfect viewpoint of the toughness that she brings."In the first quarter of Tuesday's game, Hull and Williams both fell to the floor in visible pain moments after knocking heads. Trainers tended to the athletes, who were both able to eventually get up and walk without assistance. Williams was able to check back into the game later in the opening quarter.CAITLIN CLARK'S RETURN TO FEVER LINEUP REMAINS MYSTERYHull made her way back to the Fever's bench after spending some time in the locker room area. Hull appeared to have a knot on her forehead once she re-entered the game. She finished the game with five points and nine rebounds over 23 minutes. The Fever cruised to a 95-75 win. While the swelling did eventually subside, Hull was left with contusions under her eyes. Hull said she quickly got comfortable with the fact that the condition would be something she would have to deal with for the time being."I put a patch (on the knot), slept with it, the next day, woke up and I was like, OK, the bump is almost gone, but now I have two black eyes, so that was tragic," Hull said. "But I mean, it's at this point that unfortunately, I won't be able to hide it. People know, so just rolling with it."Hull said trainers did their due diligence to make sure she did not suffer a facial fracture or any other serious injury. She confirmed she had "been fully checked out" before she checked back into Tuesday's game."Honestly, when it happened, I was relieved, because I could feel myself, like I was good to go, like I felt completely with it," Hull said. "They did all the tests they needed to do, and put ice on it right away try to keep the swelling down, but I felt good knowing that, like, obviously, it could have been a lot worse. And I'm grateful for the people online wanting to check on me and make sure that I'm OK, but I am OK, I've been fully checked out."After Tuesday's 20-point win over the Storm, the Fever held on for a one-point victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday.
