'Web of dark money' tied to Obama, Dems fuels green opposition to crucial Trump energy plan
FIRST ON FOX: An American energy leader is warning that several progressive "green" environmental groups opposing President Donald Trumps nuclear energy plans are linked to a "web of dark money" groups with ties to former President Barack Obama and other Democrats.Jason Isaac, CEO of the American Energy Institute, warned during an interview with Fox News Digital that while claiming to stand for the planet, these groups "have prioritized ideology over innovation" and are "driven by green activists and groups deeply tied to the Democratic Party.""You follow the money, you'll see where it leads. It leads straight to partisan mega-donors, foreign interests, and failed climate crusaders," Isaac said. "This isn't about the environment. It's about political control over America's energy future and our energy dominance."Isaacs comments follow Trump's signing of several executive orders in May to "usher in a nuclear renaissance" by cutting red tape to accelerate advancements in nuclear technologies. In one of the orders, Trump said that "abundant energy is a vital national- and economic-security interest" and "in conjunction with domestic fossil fuel production, nuclear energy can liberate America from dependence on geopolitical rivals."TOP ENERGY GROUP CALLS FOR PROBE INTO SECRETIVE 'NATIONAL LAWFARE CAMPAIGN' TO INFLUENCE JUDGES ON CLIMATEHowever, several environmentalist groups, such as the Union of Concerned Scientists, Nuclear Threat Initiative, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, the Sierra Club and several individuals have been critical of Trumps actions as unscientific. In late July, the Union of Concerned Scientists published a statement lambasting Trump, saying that "since the Inauguration, the administration has systematically destroyed federal scientific systems."UCS published a report that claimed the Trump administration is advancing a "systematic effort to suppress climate science and dismantle actions to address the climate crisis that will increase costs and suffering, particularly for disadvantaged communities, while boosting fossil fuel pollution and profits."A Fox News Digital review of UCS donors found that the group has received financial support from left-wing donors like the Tides Foundation, whose 2023 U.S. tax returnshows it has helped bankroll anti-Israel protests on college campuses, and the Alliance for Global Justice, which in turn is a fiscal sponsor of the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, a group the U.S. Department of the Treasury later designated as "a sham charity that serves as an international fundraiser for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist organization."UCS has also received support from the U.S. Energy Foundation, which Fox News Digital previously reported was spun off from the same foundation as the Energy Foundation China.Meanwhile, Nuclear Threat Initiative, another group that has been publicly wary of Trump's nuclear agenda, was co-founded by Ted Turner, who once urged other countries to adopt Chinas one-child policy, and led by CEO Ernest Moniz, who was secretary of energy under Obama.RESEARCHERS BLAME CA WILDFIRES ON CLIMATE CHANGE, PEDDLE 'ALARMIST' NON-PEER REVIEWED STUDIES: EXPERTSOther Nuclear Threat Initiative leaders have links to Democratic causes through political contributions, such as the group's president, Joan Rohlfing, who donated to former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris, its vice president, Scott Roecker, who has donated to the Democratic National Committee, and its senior director, Nickolas Roth, who donated to Biden.A spokesperson for NTI told Fox News Digital that the organization "actively supports the rapid expansion of safe, secure, and cost-effective nuclear energythrough theNuclear Scaling Initiative (NSI), in partnership with the Clean Air Task Force and the EFI Foundation.""NSIs goal is to enable the scaling of more than50 gigawatts of nuclear capacity annually across the globe by the 2030sadvancing climate goals, energy security, nonproliferation, and economic development."The spokesperson added that NTI is a "nonprofit, nonpartisan global security organization" while pointing to a New York Post letter to the editor from Roecker pushing back on allegations of bias.Another group, Friends of the Earth, which has actively urged the world to "reject" Trump, has a history of far-left endorsements and contributions. In 2020, Friends of the Earth endorsed Black Lives Matter and called for defunding the police. The group has also endorsed the Green New Deal and said the U.S. must "provide finance for people in developing countries commensurate with what science and justice demand."During the 2020 election, Friends of the Earth Action endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., for the Democratic presidential nomination. In 2024, the group endorsed Harris for president.GOOGLE STRIKES MAJOR NUCLEAR POWER DEAL TO FUEL AI DATA CENTERS WITH 50 MEGAWATT CAPACITYSince 2015, Friends of the Earth Action PAC has donated thousands toDemocratic or progressive candidates and causes, according to data gathered by OpenSecrets. For its part, the Sierra Club, which routinely pushes back against Trump on its social media account, has had an even more extensive history of advancing progressive causes. In 2020, the Sierra Club supported defunding the police, saying, "The problems with policing cant be solved through piecemeal reforms or getting rid of a few bad apples."The group also endorsed the Green New Deal, calling it a "big, bold transformation of the economy to tackle the twin crises of inequality and climate change."It has also said it is "committed to being an anti-racist organization." In 2020, the group even condemned its founder, naturalist John Muir, for using racist language in the 1800s, saying it was "time to take down some of our own monuments."The Sierra Club Foundation has, in turn, received significant support from George Soros Open Society Foundations, left-wing Swiss megadonor Hansjorg WysssWyss Foundation, andThe Climate Imperative Foundation, which infamously pushed the Biden administrations move to ban gas stoves.Greenpeace, which is well known for its dramatic climate protests, including boarding an oil vessel, has been a vocal critic of Trump for years, accusing the president of "defying science."Greenpeace has received support from New Venture Fund, whose website states that its day-to-day operations are managed in part by Arabella Advisors, the behemoth philanthropy services firm that also manages left-wing "dark money" funds.According to a 2017 tax filing, Greenpeace has also received funding from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which in turn receives funding from Mark Zuckerberg, Reed Hastings, and Jack Dorsey. In 2020, Greenpeace touted that a staff member was involved in creating a "Vision for Black Lives" platform and fully endorsed the program that called for reparations and a "guaranteed minimum livable income for all Black people." The program also supported cutting funding from law enforcement and decriminalizing "all drug-related offenses and prostitution."TRUMP SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDERS BOLSTERING NUCLEAR INDUSTRY, DOMESTIC URANIUM MININGThe group has provided funding to progressive state committees like the Colorado League of Responsible Voters, Colorado Rising for Health & Safety, and Democratic candidates and causes.Speaking with Fox News Digital, Isaac described the groups opposing Trumps nuclear push as a "whole web of dark money-funded partisan and foreign-tied organizations.""I don't think they want to solve the problem," he said, adding, "these groups are about control, they're about driving the cost of energy up and driving access to energy down so they can control the narrative and control every aspect of our lives."Will Hild, executive director of Consumers Research, told Fox News Digital, "the reality is the green agenda is a hodgepodge of anti-human activists who have adopted the green agenda as their religion, coupled with megalomaniacs and political operatives exploiting climate issues to push a broader ideological agenda.""What we have seen for years is so-called green groups pushing an anti-nuclear agenda that defies science, common sense, and the interests of the American people," he said.NTI has been publicly wary of Trumps nuclear expansion, while UCS, Friends of the Earth, the Sierra Club and Greenpeace have been heavily critical of the administrations actions on environmental issues more generally."Nuclear energy is statistically the safest, cleanest, and most reliable source of power we have, yet the left is doing everything they can to shut it down," Hild went on. He criticized these "activist groups" for "the damage theyre doing to our economy, our security, and our future in pursuit of an extreme climate ideology."TRUMP MADE AMERICAN ENERGY DOMINANCE A PRIORITY: CHEVRON CEO MIKE WIRTHSteve Milloy, who is a senior policy fellow at the Energy and Environment Institute and served on Trumps 2016 transition team for the Environmental Protection Agency, also chimed in, calling the current moment "a critical turning point for the future of energy.""For decades, radical environmental groups have tried to block nuclear energy, despite its unmatched record for safety and reliability," he said. "By championing nuclear power, the President is putting science, technology, and common sense ahead of the outdated, anti-energy green agenda pushed by the Left."Fox News Digital also reached out to the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, and UCS for comment but did not receive a response.

Minneapolis police reveal more about church school shooter's motive
Authorities in Minneapolis revealed more details about the motive of Annunciation Catholic Church shooter Robin Westman, with the citys police chief saying that "ultimately the purpose of the shooter's actions was to obtain notoriety for the shooter themselves."Brian OHara made the remark after telling reporters that "no evidence ever be able to make sense" of the mass shooting that left two children dead and 18 others injured Wednesday. However, he said, the Minneapolis Police Department "will do our best to determine and identify a specific motive.""What we have seen so far is this is an individual who, unfortunately, like so many other mass shooters that we have seen in this country too often and around the world, had some deranged fascination with previous mass shootings and very disturbing writings that demonstrate hatred towards many different individuals and different groups of people," OHara said. "And he fantasized about the plans of other mass shooters."Acting United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota Joe Thompson said Thursday that Westman left behind "hundreds of pages of writings, writings that describe the shooter's plan, writings that describe the shooter's mental state, and, more than anything, writings that describe the shooter's hate.MINNEAPOLIS CHURCH SHOOTER'S MOTHER REFUSES TO TALK TO POLICE AFTER DEADLY ATTACK ON CHILDREN"The shooter expressed hate towards almost every group unmanageable. The shooter expressed hate towards Black people. The shooter expressed hate towards Mexican people. The shooter expressed hate towards Christian people. The shooter expressed hate towards Jewish people," Thompson continued. "In short, the shooter appeared to hate all of us. The shooter's heart was full of hate. There appears to be only one group that the shooter didn't hate. One group of people who the shooter admired. That group were the school shooters and mass murderers that are notorious in this country."Thompson also said Westman, "more than anything," was focused on killing children."The shooter was obsessed with the idea of killing children. The shooter saw the attack as a way to target our most vulnerable among us, while they were at their most vulnerable at school and at church," he added. The mass shooting claimed the lives of Fletcher Merkel, 8, and Harper Moyski, 10."Fifteen of the injured are children between the ages of six and 15. Three of those injured are adults in their 80s," OHara said Thursday. "Those who remain hospitalized need all of our support as we continue to pray for a speedy recovery for all of our victims."GRIEVING FATHER CALLS MINNEAPOLIS SHOOTER A 'COWARD' WHO TOOK LIFE OF HIS 8-YEAR-OLD SON FLETCHER DURING MASSOHara also mentioned how Westman had previously attended Mass at the Annunciation Catholic Church and that his mother "was an employee of the parish previously for some time."However, he added, "we have not identified a triggering event or a specific grievance against the church that you could point to, to say this is the reason for why this happened."Wednesdays mass shooting at the Annunciation Catholic Church draws parallels to the Covenant School massacre a targeted March 2023 attack on a Christian school in Nashville, Tenn., by a transgender shooter who killed three third-graders and three adults."The stark reality is that mass shooters read about and study their predecessors before committing their own carnage," Don Aaron, a spokesman for the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, told Fox News Digital."We know the shooter in the Covenant case did, as she planned her attack over a period of many months. She went through firearms training during that period without setting off alarms. She had no adverse contact with law enforcement prior to the day if the shooting," he said."After a lengthy investigation, the shooter's quest for notoriety was deemed to be the motive," Aaron added. "She wanted her bedroom to be preserved and movies and books to be made about her. That is why it is so important to make the victims the focus of public statements in the days, weeks, and years after these horrible crimes. Most people, especially law enforcement, do not want to publicly focus on the shooter's twisted planning so that it does not influence others."Fox News Digital's Michael Ruiz, Sarah Rumpf-Whitten and Jon Street contributed to this report.

Cowboys players, including CeeDee Lamb, react to stunning Micah Parsons trade to Packers
Micah Parsons is officially a member of the Green Bay Packers, and members of the Dallas Cowboys are just as stunned as the rest of the NFL world. Parsons tense contract situation with the Cowboys led to a trade request that owner and general manager Jerry Jones actually fulfilled, sending him to the Packers in a deal that included Green Bays 2026 and 2027 first-round picks and All-Pro defensive tackle Kenny Clark. The Packers also reportedly gave Parsons a massive four-year, $188 million contract extension, which makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league by a good margin.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMBut, as youd expect, Cowboys players were shocked to see the news, including wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who posted a crying emoji on his Instagram Stories with the NFLs post on the trade.Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs also posted a broken-heart emoji on X, as the two defensive players were close during their time together on the Cowboys. Diggs added another tweet, though, congratulating Parsons on his new deal and a new chapter of his NFL career despite having to be opponents now."Best In The World!" he wrote on X, tagging Parsons. "Congratulations to my brother!"Safety Juanyeh Thomas said, "Damn" with a broken-heart emoji and a GIF of Steve Harvey that shows how he feels.Receiver KaVontae Turpin also shared his initial thoughts on the trade."Yeah this league s--- crazy lol," Turpin stated on X.While Cowboys players reacted to the reports, Parsons confirmed the trade himself before the team eventually did, posting a thank-you video on his X account. He also delivered a statement, where he stated that he "never wanted this chapter to end.""Not everything was in my control," Parsons wrote in his statement. "My heart has always been here, and it still is. Through it all, I never made any demands. I never asked for anything more than fairness. I only asked that the person I trust to negotiate my contract be part of the process."COWBOYS OWNER JERRY JONES: MICAH PARSONS TRADE GIVES TEAM 'CHANCE TO BE BETTER' THAN RECENT YEARSParsons requested a trade earlier this month while contract talks continued to stall. He made a previous statement saying he "no longer" wished to be in Dallas, but fans of "Americas Team" were hoping it was simply a negotiation tactic. But Jones, despite saying that he wasnt thinking about trading Parsons, made the deal to move on from the 26-year-old star.Parsons, who grew up a Cowboys fan in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, thanked fans for their support over the last four years."From the moment I arrived in Dallas, you embraced me and my family as your own. You made a kid from the east coast feel right at home in Texas. Every time I pulled up to work, every time I stepped onto that field, I felt the weight and pride of representing you. You didnt just give me a jersey, you gave me a place to belong," Parsons wrote."North Texas will continue to be my home in the offseason. I'll still be here, giving back to the community that gave me so much. And no matter where the next chapter takes me, the bond we've built will never break. Thank you, Cowboys Nation, for every cheer, every moment, and every ounce of love you showed me. Wearing the star has been the honor of my life."Fox News Digital's Ryan Morik contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Rubio denies visas to Palestinian leaders for UN General Assembly, citing terror support
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has denied Palestinian leaders visas to attend next months United Nations General Assembly, citing longstanding U.S. law that prohibits recognition of Palestinian statehood and sanctions the Palestinian Authority for so-called "pay for slay" payments to terrorists.According to internal documents reviewed by Fox News, Rubio signed off on recommendations that would block visas for senior officials of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), including PA President Mahmoud Abbas. In compliance with the laws and national security interests of the United States, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is denying and revoking visas from members of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority (PA) ahead of the upcoming UN General Assembly," State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in a statement on Friday."Before they can be taken seriously as partners for peace, the PA and PLO must end their glorification of terrorism including the corrupt "pay to slay" bounty program international lawfare campaigns, and the pursuit of unilateral recognition of statehood. The Trump Administration does not reward terrorism."HOUSE DEMOCRATS CALL ON RUBIO TO ALLOW INJURED CHILDREN FROM GAZA INTO US FOLLOWING VISA HALTThe move prevents Palestinian leaders from addressing the annual U.N. gathering in New York next month, a stage they have frequently used to advance unilateral recognition of statehood. The decision stems from findings under the Palestinian Liberation Organization Commitments Compliance Act (PLOCCA) and the Middle East Peace Commitments Act (MEPCA), which determined the PA and PLO were out of compliance with U.S. commitments by "unilaterally declaring Palestinian statehood; glorifying violence; promoting antisemitism; and providing material support to terrorists." The sanctions mandate an automatic denial of visas for at least 180 days. While the United States has previously denied visas on a case-by-case basis including for members of the Iranian delegation officials acknowledged in the documents that Washington has never before barred an entire delegation from attending the U.N. General Assembly. The internal guidance argues that the unprecedented step is justified because Palestinian leaders plan to use the September forum to push a "constitutional declaration" of independence, a move the U.S. views as a major propaganda victory for Hamas and a threat to ceasefire talks in Gaza. The recommendations call for rejecting visa applications from Palestinian officials, declining a waiver for Abbas himself, and revoking visas issued before July 31 for PLO and PA members. However, the guidance makes one exception: permanent staff and dependents at the Palestinian U.N. Observer Mission would be allowed to remain under U.S. obligations to the U.N. Headquarters Agreement.U.S. officials wrote that granting waivers "would undermine the credibility" of existing sanctions and embolden the PA to pursue unilateral recognition efforts. By contrast, enforcing the visa bans was described as a "low-cost, high-impact action" to reinforce U.S. policy.US SANCTIONS PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY OFFICIALS AFTER REJECTING GLOBAL PUSH TO GIVE IT CONTROL OF GAZASince 2012, Palestinian representatives have held non-member observer status at the U.N., a designation that allows them to participate in debates but not vote. While the U.S. has pledged under the U.N. Headquarters Agreement not to obstruct travel for official U.N. business, the documents argue that the PAs use of the General Assembly to advance statehood recognition falls outside routine mission work and poses a direct challenge to U.S. national interests.Rubio's decision marks a historic departure from the U.S. practice of accommodating U.N. participation, setting up a likely clash with international bodies and U.S. allies that continue to recognize Palestinian representatives. The move follows decades of friction between Washington and the United Nations over Israel-related issues, most especially after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.The United States has used its Security Council veto power dozens of times to block resolutions critical of Israel more than any other permanent member has used its veto for a single ally.

Hurricane Katrina survivors share stories of perseverance 20 years after deadly storm
Twenty years after Hurricane Katrina, survivors and first responders are reflecting on how their personal hardships pushed them to persevere and rebuild New Orleans."I was in the water trying to get to my parents," said Salvation Army Captain David Brittle. "But I didnt realize God was using me to save others. After losing almost everything in Katrina, including a parent, I don't take it for granted that I now have the privilege to share my faith."In August 2005, the world saw Hurricane Katrina become the deadliest andcostliest storm in the U.S. In that devastation, Brittle went on a two-and-a-half-day mission through the flooded streets in an attempt to save his parents, rescuing others along the way.TEXAS FLOOD RECOVERY VOLUNTEERS FIND DIGNITY IN HELPING VICTIMSRiding in an airboat off Highway 10, Brittle proceeded despite police warnings. They passed the Garden District and the French Quarter, iconic landmarks that were unrecognizable."I've never seen or felt darkness like that before," he said. "You could hear gunshots, helicopters overhead and people screaming in the distance."Just weeks before Brittle set out on his search, he had been working for Loomis Armored Car while living in Texas with his wife and kids. Then his family decided to move to New Orleans, where his father, Major Brittle, worked asarea commander of The Salvation Army.As the storm intensified, Major Brittle stayed in the city to keep the Center of Hope Shelter open for those in need and encouraged his son to take his wife and children to his sister's house in Houston, a 12-hour drive.ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY, AUGUST 29, 2005, HURRICANE KATRINA SLAMS GULF COAST, CAUSING MASSIVE DAMAGEWhen Katrina made landfall, more than50 levees and floodwalls failed, causing 80% of the city to flood. One of those buildings was the Center of Hope. Although nestled on a slight incline, the sheer power of the storm was no match."For it to get into the first floor of the building, that's a lot of water," said Captain Brittle. In an attempt to save the lives of those in the flooding shelter, Major Brittle rapidly flickered lights, like Morse code, trying to get the attention of helicopters. Desperate, through the floodwater, he repeatedly tried to reach first responders using a payphone, only to hear the deafening sound of silence on the other end. And then, a miracle. In the last attempt at help, he gripped the phone, bringing it slowly to his ear, and finally heard a dial tone. Knowing he wouldnt have much time, he called his son."He said Just in case something were to happen, if we don't make it? I just want to let you know that I love you guys. Just when he got done speaking, the phone went dead," said Captain Brittle, recalling the final conversation with his father. That call was the moment Brittle and his sister knew they had to return. As they headed to Louisiana, they stopped at Baton Rouge's Salvation Army disaster relief post. Having grown up around his father's colleagues, David was able to get access and join a boat crew, searching flooded neighborhoods."We were rescuing people as we went, getting them out of their houses," he said. But as more hours passed, hope began to fade."I did lose hope," he admitted. "The goals we set didn't look like they were going to happen."Then a call came over CB radio announcing that 300 survivors at the Center of Hope had been airlifted off the roof.He and his sister rushed to the Cloverlead drop-off site in Metairie, where survivors were being brought by helicopter."We found the Salvation Army canteen there," he recalled. "I grew up around the Salvation Army, so I knew a lot of people. I just walked up to them and said, Hey, have you seen Major Richard Brittle? And they said, Yeah, they just left to go to Baton Rouge."Without hesitation, Captain Brittle headed back to Baton Rouge."When my dad walked out, we embraced. It was the biggest hug he ever gave me. He said he loved me. Ill never forget that moment."Two years later, after having contracted a parasite in the floodwaters, Major Brittle developed cancer and passed away, his son said. Brittle finds purpose in that loss."I dont think Id be an officer today if my dad were still alive," he said. "His witness and his calling helped move me into mine."Reminiscing on his harrowing journey 20 years after the storm, he told Fox News Digital he found peace in the tragedy as the community was able to rebuild."We can take something devastating, and something beautiful can come from it," he said. "The culture is back. The hope is back. Going through things makes you appreciate life a little more."Thats exactly what Meghan Foley, now the Salvation Armys National Director of Emergency Services, saw.Three years post-Katrina, Foley earned her teaching degree and moved to New Orleans, working at a newly opened charter school operating out of a trailer on a demolished campus."They'd been shuffled from school to school, and most were behind academically because the infrastructure was so broken," she said. "They told me stories of being rescued by helicopters, and theyd just say, Well, thats what happened, Ms. Meghan. Like it was normal."Foley said that although these children had horrible stories to share, they still saw them positively. Foley began to understand that community resilience meant balancing the trauma of the past with the cultural joy that New Orleans brings. She vividly remembers her first Mardi Gras with the students whose parents were part of a krewe throwing painted coconuts into the crowd. So she made a lesson plan to paint coconuts."I was teaching science, so the kids could decide if they wanted to decorate them based on the water cycle or the life cyclethings they were learning in the classroom," said Foley. As she saw her students paint those coconuts, it didnt matter that they were in an untraditional classroom setting; they were happy celebrating the culture of New Orleans. She says there was a juxtaposition of the storm's trauma and the joy of the city to keep moving forward."Resilience isnt just a buzzword, its people using joy as a tool for recovery," Foley said. "They rely on each other. Thats what makes New Orleans unique."

Newsom warns Americans 'you will lose your country' under Trump at California summit
California Gov. Gavin Newsom unleashed on President Donald Trump on Wednesday, criticizing his "authoritarian tendencies" and warning Americans that Trump won't concede the presidency at the end of his second term.During POLITICO's California Summit in Sacramento, the potential 2028 Democratic presidential candidate ripped into Trump, arguing the president "doesn't believe in free, fair elections," referencing the U.S. Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021."You think he's joking about 2028?" Newsom asked before warning Americans, "Wake up. You will lose your country."When reached for comment regarding Newsom's remarks, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital, "While Newscum is on a Panican Media Tour, President Trump is delivering win after win for the American people. When will Newscum learn that President Trump is right about everything?!"CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR DEMANDS TRUMP ABANDON TEXAS REDISTRICTING PUSH, THREATENS BALLOT MEASURE RESPONSEWhile the White House has maintained that Trump is not seeking a third term, which would be unconstitutional, the Trump organization's official online retailer launched a "Trump 2028" hat earlier this year, sparking buzz about another run."I don't think Donald Trump wants another election," Newsom claimed. "I have two dozen Trump 2028 hats his folks keep sending me Who spends $200 million on a ballroom at their home and then leaves the house? This is serious guys. This is serious."NEWSOM UNDER FIRE FROM TRUMP WORLD, BUT DEMOCRATS HOPE HIS SPEECH RESETS HIS IMAGENewsom's fiery rebuttal of the Trump administration's sweeping second-term agenda came after the political leaders' contentious relationship came to a boiling point earlier this summer. For the first time in 60 years, the president federalized a state's National Guard without the governor's approval when Trump deployed the California National Guard to Los Angeles during protests rejecting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.Trump has since deployed National Guard troops to the nation's capital as part of his administration's crackdown on crime, mobilizing more than 20,000 troops in Washington, D.C. He has also floated similar deployments to Baltimore and Chicago."This is a real and serious moment in U.S. history," Newsom said. "And by the way, I say that as an American, not as a Democrat. Every Republican should be ashamed about this and scared to death about not just these authoritarian tendencies, but these authoritarian actions by the president. He is weak. He's weakness masquerading as strength and that makes him more dangerous than most people believe.""This is simply the most destructive and damaging individual in my lifetime that happens to be the President of the United States," Newsom said.Newsom's remarks came on the heels of the Texas legislature passing their Trump-backed redistricting maps, which will shift the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives ahead of the midterm elections by securing five more Republican-leaning districts. The California governor has followed suit with his own redistricting plan, seeking to pick up five Democrat-leaning U.S. House seats to level the playing field ahead of the midterms."Im sick and tired of Democrats being on the losing end in this country, and our democracy being on the losing end. We have got to fight fire with fire," Newsom said.As Newsom lambasted the Trump administration for close to an hour, he said he was done "giving a d--- about people's feelings about this moment.""Were losing this country in real time. This is not bloviation. This is not an exaggeration. Its happening," Newsom warned before adding that the rule of law is "being replaced with the rule of Don."

GOP senators say they're open to Trump deploying National Guard in their states' blue cities
Senate Republicans are behind President Donald Trumps desire to send the National Guard to Democrat-led cities and states with high crime rates, and some are even open to sending troops to blue cities in their own states to clean up the streets."Blue cities like Memphis need all the help they can get to combat violent crime," Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told Fox News Digital in a statement.Trumps desire to replicate his crime-fighting efforts in Washington, D.C., where he federalized the local police and sent in the National Guard to patrol the streets and Metro stations, led him to signal plans to send troops to Chicago and Baltimore, two blue cities in blue states with high rates of crime.DC STATEHOOD DEBATE INTENSIFIES AS TRUMP FLEXES AUTHORITY OVER LOCAL POLICEThe likely move has riled up Democratic senators from Illinois and Maryland, who accused the president of playing "political theater" in D.C. and making an attempt to "play dictator" with the U.S. military.Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill., charged that Trumps National Guard threat was "nothing more than a power grab to distract from his disastrous policies," while Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., told Fox News Digital in a statement, "Trumps threats to invade our cities are not the answer and are sad attempts to distract from his failures to actually put forward solutions to these and other issues facing our communities, like the rising cost of living.""Instead of politicizing our great City of Baltimore, which Trump knows nothing about, he should just button it up while federal, state, and local law enforcement do their important work," he said.CAPITOL HILL PREPARES FOR HIGH-STAKES BATTLE OVER TRUMP CRIME PACKAGE, DC POLICE AUTHORITYRepublicans, however, have largely backed Trumps decision to bring in the National Guard to the district and have considered extending his federalization of the Metropolitan Police Department or allowing him to bypass Congress altogether to maintain his grip on the local police after the 30-day window expires. Some welcome the idea of troops coming to crack down on crime in their cities with open arms.Memphis, for example, is ruby-red Tennessees largest city and has one of the highest violent crime rates in the country. Similar to Baltimore and Chicago, it is led by a Democratic mayor. Blackburn told Fox News Digital that she'd welcome Trump to send troops to the city.REPUBLICANS READY TO SUPPORT TRUMP'S MOVE TO SKIRT CONGRESS IN DC CRIME CRACKDOWN"I support the Trump administrations efforts to restore law and order in lawless cities across America, and Ill continue to work with the president, Attorney General [Pam] Bondi, and FBI Director [Kash] Patel to do whatever it takes to make cities like Memphis safe again," she said. And in St. Louis, another major city that consistently cracks the top 10 of violent and overall crime data pools, Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., recently worked with Patel to secure funding for a surge of FBI agents dubbed as "one of the largest per capita infusions of full-time agents and intel personnel in the nation."Schmitt signaled an openness to troops coming to St. Louis and charged that "for too long, local leaders in blue cities have been more focused on the rights of criminals than victims, and its allowed crime to run rampant.""American families want and deserve to feel safe in their communities, and Im glad to see President Trump doing what it takes to enforce the rule of law and increase public safety," Schmitt said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "His efforts in D.C. have been hugely successful, and I have no doubt other cities could benefit from increased law enforcement presence."

Top Republican points finger at Walz's trans agenda after Catholic school shooting
EXCLUSIVE: The highest-ranking Minnesotan in Congress is accusing his state's Democratic governor of focusing on the wrong issues in the wake of a deadly shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school."Tim Walz and the people around him, they're not trying to solve this. They're just exacerbating the problem, and they've been exacerbating it over the last several years," House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., told Fox News Digital."So yes, I do put this squarely in their lap, and if we're going to get this fixed, then I think Tim Walz and Democrats in my state really need to sit down and have a thoughtful discussion about how we deal with this mental health issue that they have encouraged."A 23-year-old opened fire on a Mass being held at the Annunciation Catholic Church on Wednesday, which was being attended by students at its affiliated school.MINNEAPOLIS CHURCH SHOOTER ROBIN WESTMANS FORMER CLASSMATE SAYS SHE KNEW SOMETHING WAS OFFAuthorities said two children, aged 8 and 10, were killed. Fifteen other children between the ages of 6 and 15, and three adults, were injured. The shooter was identified as Robin Westman, whose name was originally Robert Westman. Federal officials, including Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem, said Westman claimed to be transgender.Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey publicly urged people to not use the shooting "as an opportunity to villainize our trans community."But Emmer criticized Democrats, both in his state and in Congress, for renewing their push for gun control in the wake of the shooting. "It starts at the top," he said."If a gun wasn't going to be available, clearly based on what this young man, what little we know of it right now, he would have found another way to commit a heinous act like this," Emmer said. "That wasn't going to stop him, and that's not what caused the problem. What caused the problems is all the transgender confusion that Tim Walz and his Democrat colleagues are causing.""I wish our governor, rather than calling us a transgender sanctuary state, why doesn't he say we're a sanctuary state for all people of all faith, and we're going to protect them all?"He was referring to laws signed by Walz that made the state a "refuge" for transgender people. Walz touted his policies earlier this week at the DNC's summer meeting: "Minnesota ranks the highest per-capita for being a safe haven for transgender individuals."But Emmer said the shooter "clearly had some mental health issues."Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara told ABC News that the shooter "harbored a whole lot of hate towards a wide variety of people and groups of people" while also showing an "obsession" for mass shooters. The New York Post reported that Westman's manifesto showed the 23-year-old struggled with having a trans identity."I regret being trans," the shooter reportedly said before the attack. "I wish I was a girl. I just know I cannot achieve that body with the technology we have today. I also cant afford that."WHO IS ROBIN WESTMAN, SUSPECT IN ANNUNCIATION CATHOLIC SCHOOL SHOOTING IN MINNEAPOLIS?The shooter also reportedly expressed hatred for Jews and complained that media outlets "only talk about brown people dying, and I dont care about them."Walz, for his part, has not commented on the shooter's identity. Recent statements from the governor expressed thanks to law enforcement and condolences to those affected."Students deserve to start the school year full of hope and excitement. No child in America should go to school apprehensive of danger, of losing a classmate, of gunshots during prayer," Walz said on X on Thursday afternoon.Fox News Digital reached out to the governor's office for a response to Emmer but did not hear back.

Trump's Chinese student visa push sets off alarm bells amid rising CCP influence in US
A China expert warns that President Donald Trump's Chinese student visa push amid trade talks between the United States and China could exacerbate the growing CCP "influence" in American universities.China policy expert Michael Sobolik, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, explains where things stand right now, as several conservatives sounded the alarm on how the push could enable the Chinese Communist Partys influence in the U.S.Sobolik explained that Chinese students in the United States can become a major national security liability, adding that the CCP has taken advantage of Chinese nationals to "advance malign influence operations."TRUMP IGNITES CONSERVATIVE BACKLASH AFTER OPENING DOOR TO 600,000 CHINESE STUDENTS: 'WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?'"They do this by re-appropriating basic and applied research in American universities, taking it over to China, and stealing American innovations, essentially," he said. "And they also will conduct espionage. They will silence Chinese students on American campuses and force them to either advance the CCP propaganda line or silence them. And that's just unacceptable."Sobolik continued by pointing out the history of the trade agreements between Trump and Xi Jinping."I think it's partially a function of the fact that [Trump's] trying to get to a trade deal with Xi Jinping and he wants to smooth that road, make sure there aren't any bumps along the way, much like he did in his first term when he was trying to get his phase one trade agreement with China negotiated," he said.REP. GREENE RAISES RED FLAG AFTER TRUMP INDICATES US WILL ACCEPT 600,000 CHINESE STUDENTSPresident Donald Trump said in a Tuesday cabinet meeting that the "college system would go to hell very quickly" if the Chinese student visa policy were significantly altered.CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMMIGRATION COVERAGE"And it wouldn't be the top colleges, so it'd be colleges that struggle on the bottom. And you take out 300,000 or 600,000 students out of the system," Trump said."I like having, and I told this to President Xi that we're honored to have their students here. Now, with that, we check in with careful and we see who's there," the president continued."President Trump isn't proposing an increase in student visas for Chinese students. The 600K references two years worth of visas," a White House official told Fox News on Thursday. "It's simply a continuation of existing policy."TRUMP OPENS DOOR TO 600,000 CHINESE STUDENTS AMID BEIJING TRADE TALKSSobolik said universities will ultimately go along with the "repressive tactics of China," as he says students are willing to attend American institutions for their full price."Its not just STEM programs and security risks. It is not just what China's government is doing on these campuses. Its how universities are complicit in it because they need that money. It's all about the bottom line for them, and American values suffer in the process," Sobolik added.
