I think that crime is going to be a big thing, and we are the party, the Republicans are the party that wants to stop crime," he said. "We're against crime. The Democrats like crime. I don't know why. I mean, we talk about common sense. I think I got elected on talking about common sense."Gamaldi slammed those who oppose Trump's crime crackdown."It is absolute lunacy to me that there are people actually pushing back on making our communities safer. I mean, we have D.C. who hasn't had a homicide in 11 days," he said Monday. "We haven't seen that in generations. We should be celebrating this. This is a huge victory."Gamaldi said the new federal policy allows for "proactive policing," which was used in the 2000s in major cities to cut crime in what he called an "urban renaissance.""Any police officer worth their salt knows that only about 5% of the community are bad people that are committing crimes, and if you lock them up, crime will go down," he said. "Washington, D.C. right now is the perfect example."In large cities, though, officials are largely hindering their own police forces and driving cops away, according to Gamaldi."If you were working for a company where you followed policy, training, the law and did your job exactly how they expected you to do it, but it didn't turn out the outcome that they exactly wanted, and then they indict you, fire you and vilify you in the media, why the hell would you stay?" Gamaldi asked.DC VIOLENCE HAS GROWN FAR MORE DEADLY, DESPITE DEMS CLAIMING 30-YEAR LOWHe said that is exactly what happened during the 2020 "Summer of Love" where cities and media outlets touted "mostly peaceful riots" where he said people were "burning [police] in effigy.""Of course, you'd be packing your bags, and that's why we're seeing a mass migration of police officers, because they're actually leaving these far-left cities that don't support them, or politicians that don't support them, for communities that actually will," Gamaldi said.Statistics from major blue cities across the country bear Gamaldi's theory out.As of Jan. 1, 2020, Chicago had 13,156 sworn police officers, according to city data. That number has plummeted over the past four-and-a-half years, and as of July, there were 11,602 cops manning the streets. That is a drop of 1,554 officers.Baltimore is a much smaller city, but has seen a huge reduction in its police force, too.In 2020, the city had about 2,500 sworn officers, according to FOX 45. By the fall of last year, that number had dipped below 2,000, the city's police union reported, a drop of 500 officers, representing 20% of the force.RADICAL DC OFFICIALS TREATED OFFICERS LIKE CRAP, POLICE LEADER SAYS 7 ATTACKS THAT LED TO TRUMP TAKEOVERPolice officers aren't coming back, either, according to Gamaldi."And I think if you need any further evidence of just how bad the crisis got, you still have departments in California offering $100,000 to sign up, and they still can't fill the cadet classes," he said. "Because folks know, they're not stupid when they apply for these police departments. They know what places are gonna support them, and the other ones that are gonna throw them under the bus."Los Angeles had 9,852 sworn officers in mid-2020. That number has dropped to 8,738 this year, a total loss of 1,114 cops.In October 2019, the NYPD welcomed a 900-person recruiting class to a force that had about 36,900 officers a year earlier, according to the New York Post.Just this month, the NYPD gained 1,093 newly sworn officers, bringing the city's total to 34,455, the Post reported. Even with that boost, the force is still down nearly 2,500 cops from about five years ago.Measured in terms of experience, Gamaldi said police forces have suffered unimaginable losses from which they might never recover."You're looking at hundreds of years of law enforcement experience walking out of the door to go find other employment or retire," he said. "Who's going to train the next generation?"To claw back officers, Gamaldi said police departments have lowered their training standards, which will have a ripple effect that lowers the quality of police work."And if you think those chickens aren't coming home to roost, I assure you they will in a few years," he said.

Archaeologists in Central Europerecently uncovered an ancient grave reopened not by modern looters but by medieval Poles over 1,000 years ago.The excavation took place at the Nowy Chorw cemetery in northern Poland. The findings were published in the journal Antiquity on June 23.Known as Grave 7, the 11th-century burial appeared to belong to an elite individual. It still contained high-quality artifacts, including a yew wood bucket with iron fittings.MEDIEVAL KNIGHT'S TOMB DISCOVERED BENEATH FORMER ICE CREAM PARLOR IN POLAND: 'VERY RARE'Sawomir Wadyl, an archaeologist at the University of Warsaw, told Fox News Digital that "nearly everything about this project has been surprising."An iron spearhead with preserved textile fragments was also found possibly remnants of a banner or ceremonial flag known as a standard."We had little precedent to guide our expectations, and what we found exceeded them," Wadyl also said.Archaeologists found that some graves were reopened within a generation, with cremated remains laid directly over emptied burials likely part of ritual reuse rather than robbery."It wasnt a case of medieval or modern looters stumbling upon an ancient grave centuries later," Wadyl noted.VIKING-ERA BURIAL SITE WITH ELITE FAMILY TREASURES AND GIFTS DISCOVERED, PLUS AN 'UNUSUAL CASKET'"It was part of unfolding local history."The archaeologist said that reopening graves was common in the 11th century, but that it "wasn't always about stealing valuables.""Sometimes graves were disturbed to remove objects, possibly for reuse, ritual reasons, or even as acts of social or religious rejection," Wadyl observed."In other cases - like at Nowy Chorw - the bodies themselves were exhumed and cremated after burial, suggesting a deeper ritual significance."He added, "This may have been done to 'correct' burial practices as beliefs changed, or to assist the deceased in reaching the afterlife."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERThe burials incorporated both Christian and pagan rituals, shedding new insights on a time of dramatic transition in European history.Wadyl noted that while the eastwest grave orientation and modest grave goods suggest Christian influence, the bodies were aligned with their heads, not feet, to the east an unusual detail.Features like cremation, symbolic grave markers and stone constructions point to pagan traditions.This blending of beliefs, Wadyl said, was "one of the most fascinating aspects of this project.""In short, these were not fully Christian or fully pagan burials," he said. "They represent a blended, transitional funerary tradition, which is why this cemetery is so significant."He added, "Its about a community living through a time of profound change - the shift from pagan to Christian belief, from tribal structures to early states, from old traditions to new identities."For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyleNext steps include DNA analysis to identify kinship patterns, Wadyl said as well as "looking deeper into the blend of Christian and pre-Christian ritual practices." He and his team also identified more than 120 similar grave sites across Pomerania, thanks to LiDAR mapping opening the door to further study."This discovery reminds us that history isn't always neat," Wadyl concluded."The past is full of negotiation, resistance and adaptation.""For us, it's a chance to give voice to those long-forgotten people, and to better understand how cultural transformation really happens."

"Now, we can never forget. We never forget that every single Democrat in Congress House and Senate voted against every one of those big wins for the people. And we've got to remind the voters of that when the left lies about our bills."He accused Democrats of "lying" about the legislation as their only political crutch."How many of you know that's all they got left? They don't have a leader, no platform, no policies that are digestible by the American people. They just have to lie about what we're doing," Johnson said."Democrats voted against the prosperity and security of the American people. And they voted against working families' tax cuts. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is suing Texas over its redistricting plan that would eliminate five Democratic congressional seats.The NAACP filed the lawsuit on Tuesday, arguing the new congressional map "was enacted with an impermissible and controlling discriminatory purpose on the basis of race." It names Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson as plaintiffs."It's quite obvious that Texas's effort to redistrict mid-decade, before next year's midterm elections, is racially motivated. The state's intent here is to reduce the members of Congress who represent Black communities, and that, in and of itself, is unconstitutional," NAACP president and CEO Derrick Johnson said in a statement Tuesday.Meanwhile, the NAACP said it is also encouraging blue states to enact their own redistricting plans in an effort to offset the effects of the new Texas map.NEWSOM SIGNS CALIFORNIA CONGRESSIONAL REDISTRICTING BILLS, COUNTERING TRUMP-BACKED PUSH IN TEXAS"At this time, the NAACP is urging California, New York, and all other states to act immediately by redistricting and passing new, lawful, and constitutional electoral maps," the group wrote Tuesday. "We must counter Texas' unconstitutional move and ensure that if all else fails, Black Americans still have a voice in Congress."Texas passed its new map on Saturday, pulling off the political victory despite weeks of Democrats breaking quorum, which included fleeing the state to avoid a redistricting vote.ABBOTT SCORES BIG WIN IN REDISTRICTING BATTLE AS TEXAS DEMOCRATS' BLOCKADE COLLAPSESThe Republican-controlled state Senate passed the redistricting map on Friday, just two days after clearing the GOP-held House by an 88-52 vote.The move has kicked off a redistricting battle nationwide, however. California Gov. Gavin Newsom and state Democrats passed their own new map on Thursday, which creates five new districts that lean Democratic, jeopardizing the seats of Republicans.That map will first face a Nov. 4 statewide vote before being adopted, however. That special election is expected to cost taxpayers some $230 million.Newsom's office has responded to criticism around the cost by arguing, "There's no price tag for democracy."Fox News' Deirdre Heavey contributed to this report.
