A new study found that hydration is key when it comes to managing stress.People who drink less than seven cups, or 1.5 liters, of water per day have a cortisol response to stress that is 50% higher than those who meet water intake recommendations.Researchers at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) published the study in the Journal of Applied Physiology.WEARABLE HYDRATION MONITOR COULD HELP PREVENT HEATSTROKE, SCIENTISTS SAYOut of 62 healthy males and females, 32 participants were selected with both habitual low fluid intake and habitual high fluid intake.Subjects who typically drank less than 1.5 liters of fluid per day were considered the "low-fluid" group, while the "high-fluid" group comprised people who drank the recommended amount of two liters for women and 2.5 for men.The participants fluid intake was monitored over seven days by testing the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) and hydration markers with blood and urine. The study found that drinking too little water increased stress-related health issues for both men and women.Professor Neil Walsh, study lead at LJMU's School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, said in a press release that keeping a water bottle nearby during stress-related times can have potential benefits for your long-term health.'HYDRATION BOOSTERS' OR JUST WATER? A petition urging Florida officials to show leniency toward Harjinder Singh, an illegal immigrant truck driver accused of causing a crash that killed three people, has garnered nearly 2.5 million signatures as of Sunday afternoon.The petition posted on the website Change.org and addressed to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis calls for both DeSantis and the Florida Board of Executive Clemency to re-examine the case against the 28-year-old. Singh faces three counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of manslaughter in connection with the deadly Aug. 12 crash.Harjinder Singh, 28, an illegal immigrant, was operating a commercial semi-truck with a trailer on the Florida Turnpike in Fort Pierce when he allegedly attempted a U-turn in an unauthorized area. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-NY, was pressed on the Democratic Partys redistricting plans to counter Texas Republicans and whether theyre "hypocritical," because of the history of his state of New York.After Jeffries criticized Texas Republicans for successfully passing a new congressional map, CNNs "State of the Union" host Dana Bash asked Jeffries about whether his own state planned to counter with redistricting. Jeffries confirmed that Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was going to explore options. Bash highlighted that Jeffries had previously fought against New York's congressional maps being drawn by an independent commission in 2022."You praised New Yorks state legislature for redrawing new ones," Bash said. "Is criticizing Texas hypocritical given what you pushed for in your own state?"HAKEEM JEFFRIES' CALL TO FIGHT TRUMP AGENDA IN THE STREETS SPARKS BACKLASH AS A 'MAXINE WATERS MOMENT'"So lets go into the actual facts," Jeffries responded. That was problem number one."New Yorks Democratic-controlled legislature enacted new congressional maps ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, rejecting the ones created by the bipartisan Independent Redistricting Commission. The New York Court of Appeals later rejected the legislatures maps, and a state trial court judge appointed a special master to draw maps used for 2022.New York Democrats filed a new lawsuit claiming that the state legislature had the authority to redraw a new map for the remainder of the decade. Last year, the Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Democratic Party, allowing them to pass new maps in 2024."Whats important is that in New York, the redrawn map that was actually adopted by the legislature was adopted on a bipartisan basis," Jeffries said. "Democrats and Republicans in the Assembly voted for the map because the redraw was fair. Thats not whats happening in Texas. In Texas, this is a racial partisan gerrymander ordered by Donald Trump as part of an effort to rig the midterm elections.
