Lin let up just one hit while striking out four Las Vegas batters over his 58 pitches, with 45 going for strikes.NEVADA WINS US LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES TITLE, WILL FACE TAIWAN FOR CHAMPIONSHIPMeanwhile, at the plate, he tallied three RBI thanks to a bases-loaded triple that put the game out of reach for Nevada in the bottom of the fifth inning. For a team as buttoned up as Nevada has been throughout their time in Williamsport, they struggled to start the game with wild pitches and errors that ultimately came back to bite them.Luke DAmbrosio, the starter for Summerlin South, had some control problems on the mound, and it led to Jian Zih-De scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the second inning. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMWitness in Holly Bobo murder trial admits lying, raising questions about nursing student's true killerNearly a decade after a man was convicted of killing a Tennessee nursing student, the defense is asking a judge for a new trial, citing a key witness admission over fabricating testimony.Holly Bobo, 20, disappeared from her rural home in 2011, sparking an extensive search that ended with her body being found more than three years later.Zachary Adams and two other men were charged in Bobos kidnapping, rape and murder, with Adams being the only defendant choosing to go to trial. He was subsequently convicted on all charges in 2017 and sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 50 years.911 CALLS, POLICE REPORT DETAILS DARK TIMELINE TO ARIZONA GIRL'S TRAGIC DEATHDuring Adams trial, key witness Jason Autry spoke in graphic detail about how Bobo was kidnapped and raped before being wrapped in a blanket, thrown in the back of a pickup truck and killed under a bridge near a local river."It sounded like, boom, boom, boom, underneath that bridge," Autry told the jury. "It was just one shot but it echoed. Birds went everywhere, all up under that bridge. Then just dead silence for just a second."Since investigators never found DNA evidence linking Adams to Bobo, the prosecution relied primarily on testimony from witnesses and Adams fellow inmates, who claimed he talked about hurting Bobo after the murder.IDAHO MURDER VICTIM'S MOTHER FINDS UNEXPECTED PEACE IN KILLER'S CONTROVERSIAL PLEA DEALThe dramatic trial included emotional testimony, with Bobos mother Karen collapsing on the witness stand.Autry subsequently pleaded guilty to lesser charges after being praised by the judge for his testimony, and was sentenced to eight years in prison. He was released in 2020.Adams brother, John Dylan Adams, also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. However, in a 2024 court filing known as a coram nobis petition, Zachary Adams revealed Autry was recanting his testimony and asked for a new trial. Adams claimed Autry fabricated his story in an effort to keep himself out of prison.PARENTS BELIEVE DAUGHTER WHO VANISHED FROM CRUISE SHIP 27 YEARS AGO IS STILL ALIVEMonths earlier, Autry met with Dr. Katie Spirko, a forensic and clinical neuropsychologist, and admitted to making the story up after his lawyer warned him that he was "95% sure of a conviction," before the 2017 trial, according to the petition."[Autry] had to make it all up," Dana McLendon III, Spirkos attorney, told Fox News Digital. "Because he knew that the chances that any of them were not going to be convicted were very low, and he wanted to save his own skin."McLendon said Autry previously expressed regret after his testimony.DETECTIVES TRUE CRIME PODCAST HELPS DIG UP BREAKTHROUGH IN CASE THAT HAUNTED FAMILY: DREW AUDIBLE GASP"He told Dr. Spirko when he left the trial having essentially buried Zach, he felt terrible because he knew that he just put an innocent man in prison," McLendon said.According to the petition, Autry admitted to formulating the story in his jail cell while looking over discovery evidence, while relying on cellphone data to nail down details."This is a man who told a jury that he started out attempting to hide what he believes to be the body of Holly Bobo, and ended up being present when she was actually murdered," McLendon said. "So you can ask yourself, how does a man go from a death penalty co-defendant to serving no time extra for that role at all? How does that happen? And the answer is, the prosecution would later say that without Jason Autry's testimony, they wouldn't have been able to convict that guy and that's just the tip of the iceberg."3 CHILLING TRUE CRIME CASES OF WOMEN WHO WENT ON VACATION AND NEVER RETURNEDHowever, Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Nichols insisted Adams petition needed to be supported by sworn affidavits, writing that the since-recanted testimony which was presented to the court in a video interview is "looked upon with distrust."Nichols also previously said Adams would have been convicted without Autrys testimony, while pointing to Adams "incriminating admissions" surrounding Bobos death.Last year, a judge sided with the prosecution by granting the states motion to dismiss Adams petition for a new trial, ultimately determining Autry failed to prove an alibi for Adams or point to another person's evidence of guilt.GET REAL-TIME UPDATES DIRECTLY ON THE TRUE CRIME HUB"Mr. Autrys new statements do not leave this Court without serious or substantial doubt that Mr. Adams is actually innocent," the judge wrote in his ruling.Autry's attorney declined Fox News Digital's request for comment.Earlier this year, Adams returned to court for a post-conviction relief hearing, with the judge ultimately ruling a video of Autry recanting his testimony was not admissible in court, according to Court TV. The hearing was temporarily suspended while Adams appealed the decision.FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON XHowever, the Tennessee Court of Appeals declined to hear the appeal and the case is scheduled to resume in November, with hearings restarting earlier this month.Adams' attorney and the Hardin County District Attorney's office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. In light of Adams pursuit of a new trial, McLendon hopes his conviction will be overturned and authorities will focus on finding Bobos actual killer.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"This community was boiling with the need for closure and justice," McLendon told Fox News Digital. "So when you pick a jury from among a pool of people who've been waiting to get this case wrapped up for six years, and then they are given perjured testimony and the defense is essentially denied the opportunity to present all of the evidence, including exculpatory evidence, it's not surprising to me that they got the verdict they got."The Associated Press contributed to this report.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 22 Visualizações 0 Anterior

"Obviously, now that the cut down starts to come over the next couple days, one of the tough parts of this business is just that."So, we'll work through that over the next 48 hours and then got four good days of work with the team Monday through Thursday. Then take that break over Labor Day before we get started the following week versus Cincinnati. So, a lot of work to be done and we're excited to get to that work."CARSON WENTZ CUTS DEAL WITH MINNESOTA VIKINGSHuntley was brought into the mix after Pickett was injured. The one-time Pro Bowler played in the fourth quarter against the Rams and was 10-of-13 with 71 passing yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Browns already named Flacco its starting quarterback in Week 1. Pickett is expected to be available for Week 1, likely as Flaccos backup.Stefanski said Pickett is "getting better every day" as he battles back from a hamstring injury.Cleveland added Flacco to the roster in the offseason and acquired Pickett from the Eagles. The team selected Gabriel and Sanders in the draft.Sanders didnt play well in his final preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. He was sacked five times. Gabriel had a touchdown pass. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMTrump rips trial judge whose $500M penalty was erased on appealFresh off a major appellate win, President Donald Trump on Sunday tore into New York Judge Arthur Engoron, who oversaw his state civil fraud trial, calling him "incompetent," "crooked" and nearly as "corrupt" as New York Attorney General Letitia James.Trump's barbs followed an appellate ruling that erased a $500 million penalty in James high-profile civil fraud case, handing Trump one of his biggest legal wins yet."The Appellate Court removed incompetent Judge Engoron, but he refused to go, or even to acknowledge them," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Hes a highly overturned, CROOKED Judge, who is retiring into a life of lawsuits, along with his Chief Clerk, soon! He is almost as Corrupt as Leticia James, but not quite!"Engoron presided over the non-jury trial, and Trump allies accused him of bias against the president-elect, his family and his company. Trump was accused of inflating the value of his assets to get more favorable terms from a lender his real estate business worked with.JUDGE WHO FINED TRUMP $500 MILLION GETS THE BOOKS THROWN AT HIMThe New York Appellate Division tossed the penalty, ruling the fine was excessive and violated the Eighth Amendment. The five-member panel upheld findings that Trump and his company were liable, affirming James acted within her authority and that injunctive relief against the Trump Organization was appropriate. The ruling left liability intact but wiped out the $364 million penalty plus interest, which totaled about $500 million.TURLEY HAILS TRUMPS 'TREMENDOUS VICTORY' AFTER CIVIL FRAUD PENALTY TOSSED, BLASTS 'GROTESQUE' USE OF NY LAWJustice David Friedman dissented in part, arguing James true aim was political, and the case should be dismissed. James said she will appeal.James, a Democrat elected in 2018, has long targeted Trump. On the campaign trail, she called him an "illegitimate president" and vowed to "use every area of the law" to investigate him and his businesses.Since Trump returned to office, the Justice Department has opened investigations tied to the case brought against Trump and also over allegations she committed mortgage fraud herself.James alleges Trump is using the federal government to target her politically.
