WWW.FOXNEWS.COMBoston ICE chief 'not backing down,' blasts liberal Mayor Wu over 'public safety crisis'A top Boston ICE official is calling out Mayor Michelle Wu after the city refused to comply with Attorney General Pam Bondis ultimatum on immigration enforcement.Bondi sent letters to dozens of sanctuary cities, counties and states warning they must cooperate with federal immigration laws or face lawsuits and potential cuts to federal funding."Unlike Mayor Wu, I was born and raised in Massachusetts. I grew up in Boston," ICE ERO Boston Acting Field Office DirectorPatricia Hyde said Wednesday on "Americas Newsroom."BOSTONS WU FIRES BACK AT BONDI, CITING REVOLUTION, AS OTHER CITIES SLAM FEDS OVER SANCTUARY WARNINGS"I know what a safe Boston looks like, and this isnt it."Sanctuary city policies often limit local law enforcements cooperation with ICE to protect illegal immigrants from deportation or apprehension.Wu publicly rejected Bondis demands during a press conference, calling the ultimatum a political stunt."Stop attacking our cities to hide your administration's failures. Unlike the Trump administration, Boston follows the law," Wu said Tuesday.TOM HOMAN PUTS SANCTUARY CITIES 'ON NOTICE' AS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION CRACKS DOWN ON IMMIGRATIONHyde pushed back on Wus comments, arguing that the mayors stance undermines public safety."While Mayor Wu is up, having a press conference and talking about not working with ICE, the men and women of ICE are out working, making her community safer," Hyde said.Federal officials have highlighted a series of high-profile migrant arrests in Massachusetts over the past year, involving charges such as aggravated rape of a child, assault and kidnapping.During a month-long enforcement operation in Boston earlier this year, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the apprehension of nearly 1,500 illegal immigrant offenders.Wu has long criticized these federal immigration crackdowns, accusing them of fueling fear in local communities rather than improving security.Hyde insisted ICE will continue to carry out enforcement in Boston, despite Wus resistance."We swore to uphold our oath to protect the cities and the communities where we work and where we live," she said."Despite the obstacles, the men and women of ICE Boston, and the men and women of ICE in the whole entire country, that's what they do every day."Other cities like Chicago, Philadelphia and New York also received letters from the DOJ. Washington Democratic Gov. Bob Ferguson posted Bondis letter on X, formerly known as Twitter, noting he also has no plans to follow her directive. The governor wrote in part: "Washington state has no intention of changing our values in the face of threats from the Trump administration."CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 17 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMWoman goes blind after drinking tainted cocktail, warns tourists that 'a shot can kill you'A Canadian woman took to TikTok earlier this month to share that a cocktail she drank while traveling abroad left her blind. Her message was blunt: "A shot can kill you."Ashley King, who lost her vision after methanol poisoning stemming from a drink she had while on vacation in Bali, recently released a video along with a petition to increase awareness of the potentially deadly chemical lurking in some cocktails. In her case, the drink she was given reportedly came in a reusable plastic bottle.Methanol is a compound typically reserved for industrial processes and found in the likes of gasoline, antifreeze and paint thinner. It is severely toxic to humans when ingested, according to multiple health agencies.3 EXCLUSIVE 'GOLDEN' VISA DESTINATIONS THAT AMERICA'S WEALTHIEST ARE EYEINGIn some cases, it is added to alcohol to extend the supply, reported the Methanol Institute, a trade association."In developing countries around the world, in the black market, methanol is often added to alcohol to expand the volume of liquid," King said in her Aug. 4 video.King also claimed that the tainted alcohol is then sold back to restaurants, bars, hotels and other drinking establishments."It smells no different and it tastes no different from the alcohol that we typically drink," she said in her petition. If a drink does include methanol, the person who consumes it can experience severe poisoning, blindness or even death, according to multiple medical sources.YOUR FAVORITE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE COULD BE LINKED TO DEADLY FORM OF CANCER, STUDY FINDSEarlier this summer, a U.S. tourist died in Laos after suspected alcohol poisoning, Fox News Digital previously reported.Authorities tied the death to tainted liquor sold in a resort town. It was an extreme reminder that even drinks ordered while on vacation can carry hidden risks."This doesn't need to happen, but it does," King said in her video, briefly touching on the Laos incident. "And not enough people know about it."The same pattern has been reported elsewhere. In Iran, at least 10 people died in 2023 after drinking homemade liquor spiked with methanol, AP previously reported.Europe has also seen similar crises. A Central European outbreak in 2012 left 19 people dead and 24 hospitalized after vodka and rum batches were found to contain methanol, per AP.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERPeople experiencing methanol and ethanol poisoning may suffer from headaches, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loss of coordination and decreased level of consciousness, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes. "Just as little as 30 milliliters of it a shot can kill you. And 15 milliliters of it can make you go blind, have organ failure, liver damage and even brain damage," said King, who is an actor, writer and advocate today. To reduce risk, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that travelers refrain from purchasing illegal alcoholic drinks. They should also avoid alcoholic drinks in unlabeled containers and steer clear of unsealed or suspiciously cheap drinks. For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestylePeople should also seek immediate medical attention if they experience any of the symptoms mentioned above."Losing my eyesight is the hardest thing Ive ever gone through, and I deal with it every single day," King shared in a video on social media."This doesn't need to happen, and if we can save one life, then it'll all be worth it."Fox News Digital reached out to King for further comment.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 17 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMChris Pratt dragged into Katy Perrys $15M mansion showdown with U.S. veterans family as trial kicks offChris Pratt was dragged into the legal feud reigniting in a Los Angeles court Thursday between Katy Perry and the Wescott family over the singer's $15 million mansion. In 2020, Carl Westcott a U.S. Army veteran and the founder of 1-800-Flowers filed a lawsuit against Perry's business manager, Bernie Gudvi (who represented the "Firework" singer in the July 2020 purchase of the Santa Barbara-area mansion), after attempting to rescind the deal he made to sell his 8.9-acre estate to Perry for $15 million. Westcott had reportedly purchased the home two months earlier for roughly $11 million. While Pratt has not been deposed or required to appear, his involvement could potentially bolster Perry's claim for funds owed after the sale, according to attorney Christopher C. Melcher. The trial, which began last year, was split into two parts, and Perry was ordered to testify in this month's damages phase.'REAL HOUSEWIFE' BLASTS KATY PERRY, ORLANDO BLOOM FOR LACK OF 'EMPATHY' IN LEGAL FEUD OVER $15M MANSION"Westcotts defense is that the home could not have had mold and other major issues because Perry rented the place to Chris Pratt," Melcher told Fox News Digital. "But repairs could have been made by Perry before renting the home to Pratt."If so, the subsequent condition of the home when Pratt was a tenant is not relevant to what the home looked like when Perry got the keys," Melcher added.KATY PERRY EARNS LEGAL VICTORY IN YEARS-LONG BATTLE FOR $15 MILLION MONTECITO HOMEAt the time of sale, Carl sought a rescission of contract after claiming he "lacked capacity" to sign the transaction due to a recent surgery and brain disorder. However, in November 2023, Judge Joseph Lipner ruled that Gudvi was entitled to the sale of the Montecito home purchased on Perry's behalf in 2020. On May 17, 2024, Perry took legal ownership after the deed was recorded.Per court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Pratt who has been renting and residing in the Montecito home with his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, and their children has been named as a witness by the Wescott family, who have requested that the judge question him on the "condition" of the home and any problems with the terms of his lease agreement with Perry."Now, just before the Phase 2 Trial, there is new, never-before disclosed evidence that Perry has rented out the Westcott Property to the actor Chris Pratt and his wife (the daughter of Maria Shriver, who the Court will recall from Cristal Clarkes Phase 1 Trial testimony was bidding against Perry in 2020 to buy the Westcott Property, which is why Perry increased her original $13.5 offer to Westcott to the agreed-on $15 million price)," the court documents, which were filed on July 31, state. After a five-year feud, Perry will take the stand this month to testify in the six-day, non-jury trial. She is seeking up to $6 million in damages - including an additional $2 million for damages to the property citing structural defects, deferred maintenance, and lost rental income."The $2.29 million in estimated repairs was bogus and Perry was able to rent the Westcott Property as-is to Chris Pratt (for what some have rumored to be $150,000 in rent just for this summer)," the documents state. While Perry has been ordered to take the stand, the Westcott family is also pushing for the singer's ex, Orlando Bloom, to testify. Bloom, who split from Perry earlier this year, was served a subpoena and named in the joint witness list.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSAccording to the Daily Mail, the judge said that he only needed the testimony of the contractors and questioned how Bloom's testimony would benefit."Why do we need Mr. Bloom to (give testimony), other than making this a celebrity circus?" the judge said during a previous hearing. It is unclear if Pratt will take the stand.According to The Sun, Westcotts attorney recently returned to court ahead of a "likely attempt to subpoena Pratt because he is a material witness," a source told the outlet.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER"For example, to establish when he started renting? He is living in a property that is wrapped up in a legal battle."The source said the Westcott family "want to know how much Pratt is renting the house for.""Perry has claimed millions of dollars in damages, and claimed that it's not liveable - it's clearly liveable because an A-list actor is renting it," the source added.Earlier this month, the "Parks and Recreation" alum and Schwarzenegger put their Pacific Palisades, CA, mansion back on the market with a significant price cut, according to Realtor.com. Originally listed for $32 million in July 2023, it is now listed for $19.99 million.A representative for Pratt did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.Fox News Digital's Tracy Wright contributed to this report.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 17 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMEx-Paramount chief feared CBS interview of 'drowsy' Biden would be exposed in Trump lawsuit: reportFormer Paramount executive Shari Redstone was concerned President Donald Trump's team would seize on unaired footage of a 2023 "60 Minutes" interview with then-President Joe Biden, as she explained why the company settled Trump's lawsuit against CBS News.Redstone claimed in an interview with the New York Times that some CBS personnel told her in October 2023 that Biden appeared drowsy and had to be prompted to answer questions during an interview with Scott Pelley.Redstone said she and her son Tyler Korff were worried that CBS would be accused of editing the "60 Minutes" interview to conceal Biden's "failings," as the Times put it, while it battled Trump's accusations of election interference stemming from the show's 2024 interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris.According to the Times report, the Redstone family worried that cherry-picked raw CBS footage and internal communications exposed in discovery would do more damage than the settlement.HOW TRUMP SUED CBS AND WON: THE '60 MINUTES' SETTLEMENT THAT ROCKED THE MEDIA WORLD, EXPLAINEDThe lawsuit was settled last month, with Trump receiving $16 million upfront to cover legal fees, costs of the case and contributions to his future presidential library or charitable causes. The settlement sparked an uproar, as many critics thought Paramount was surrendering to expedite its pending merger with Skydance Media, even though the lawsuit was seen as frivolous."This case was never as black-and-white as people assumed," Redstone told the Times.Pelley did say on air at the time that the president seemed tired."As we spoke to the president, his secretary of state was in Israel; his defense secretary was at a NATO meeting on Ukraine," Pelley said during the broadcast. "America's oldest president seemed tired from directing all of this."'60 MINUTES' REPORTER LESLEY STAHL SAYS SHE'S ANGRY WITH CBS' SHARI REDSTONE OVER TRUMP LAWSUIT"It had been a rough week, and we could see it on him," he added. The Times also reported that other people who witnessed Pelley's interview and reviewed footage believed Redstone's worries about the Biden interview were exaggerated. At the time and for much of Biden's only term, his defenders insisted he was mentally and physically fit for the job despite his advanced age and visible moments of confusion.Biden was ultimately forced to abandon the 2024 Democratic nomination, after his mental fitness concerns were laid bare in his only debate with Trump. He was replaced by Vice President Kamala Harris, who went on to lose the race.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREThe settlement paved the way for the Federal Communications Commission to approve the long-planned merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media. That allowed Redstone, who controlled more than three-quarters of Paramounts Class A voting shares,to exit the newly formed company.Redstone told the New York Times the settlement was a "no-brainer."She recused herself from settlement talks but made it clear that she preferred to reach a deal.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"We may not like the world we live in, but a board has to do whats in the best interest of shareholders," Redstone told the Times.Fox News Digital reached out to CBS News and a representative of Biden for comment.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 17 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMTrump-aligned legal group probes Biden-era organ transplant program over ethical concernsFIRST ON FOX A Trump-aligned legal group founded by White House aide Stephen Miller filed Freedom of Information Act requests Thursday targeting a Biden organ transplant program that critics warn could be open to abuse. The requests from America First Legal went to the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the Health Resources and Services Administration. At issue is the Increasing Organ Transplant Access Model, a six-year mandatory program finalized in December 2024 and set to take effect in July 2025, which aims to expand access to kidney transplants but has drawn criticism from Trump officials who warn it may be vulnerable to outside influence. The model builds on earlier payment experiments, testing whether financial rewards and penalties can improve care and expand access for Medicare and Medicaid patients.Trump officials and allies, including America First Legal, argue the system risks distortion by outside interests a charge that prompted AFLs FOIA requests as part of a broader investigation.TRUMP'S EXECUTIVE ORDER ON VOTING BLOCKED BY FEDERAL JUDGES AMID FLURRY OF LEGAL SETBACKSThey cited in part recent findings from an HRSA-led probe published earlier this year. That investigation suggested third-party groups or for-profit organizations "may have unduly influenced the IOTA Model" though their exact role or the extent they may have done so is unclear.HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also cited concerns from the study, which the department said in a statement "revealed clear negligence and disturbing practices" by a large organ procurement organization in the U.S., prompting him to launch a new reform initiative. In previewing the FOIA requests to Fox News Digital, AFL cited related concerns about patient safety, ethical misconduct, and discrimination in organ allocation, among other things. The requests ask HHS, CMS and HRSA for a long list of information regarding the program and related correspondence including emails, letters and memos between agency personnel and third-party representatives about the development or implementation of the IOTA Model. They also seek meeting records, agendas and summaries of discussions involving agency staff and outside officials. The payment model will affect more than 100 U.S. transplant hospitals over six years, imposing mandatory financial incentives and penalties tied to a final performance score.FEDERAL JUDGE BLOCKS TRUMP'S BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP BAN FOR ALL INFANTS, TESTING LOWER COURT POWERSIOTA was touted as a way to help increase access to organ donors and transplants in the U.S. and help address the long waiting list of patients awaiting a transplant, which as of last fall stood at roughly 90,000 people.Participating hospitals are evaluated for their performance in three key areas, according to CMS's final rule, which took force in July, including the volume of kidney transplants, their matching efficiency, and post-transplant outcomes of their patients. But the role outside groups have played, including during the process of drafting the final rule, has prompted criticism and calls for additional scrutiny from Trump allies, including AFL."Self-interested third parties should play no role in shaping Americas organ transplant policy," AFL counsel Laura Stell told Fox News Digital in a statement previewing the FOIA requests and broader investigation."Where monetary incentives and penalties come into play, there must be utmost certainty that CMS developed the program without influence from entities with improper motives."America First Legal, though not officially part of the Trump administration, was founded by longtime Trump adviser Stephen Miller after Trump's first presidential term.Miller stepped down from AFL before rejoining the White House in 2025 as Trump's deputy chief of staff.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 32 Visualizações 0 Anterior

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMAmerican tennis star Coco Gauff makes major change just days before US OpenCoco Gauff is making a big change before her start at the 2025 U.S. Open in New York. The American tennis star has parted ways with Matt Daly, one of her coaches, while bringing in biomechanics expert Gavin MacMillan, according to multiple reports."Only have good things to say about Coco, enjoyed working with her," Daly told Bounces, confirming their split.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMWhy would the 21-year-old make the switch now before the final Grand Slam of the year? The answer may have to do with her serve.Since her shocking first-round exit at Wimbledon, Gauff has struggled with her serve, which plays a tremendous factor in beating the best in the world, especially in tournaments like the U.S. Open.COCO GAUFF STUNNED IN STRAIGHT SETS IN FIRST ROUND OF WIMBLEDON LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER WINNING FRENCH OPENMacMillan has a history of fixing one of the best serves in womens tennis, as world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka used his expertise to correct that part of her game.MacMillan was spotted on the Arthur Ashe Stadium court Wednesday morning as Gauff was hitting with Elina Svitolina."A lot of things add up, and this could be a really good relationship," ESPNs Darren Cahill told Forbes about Gauff and MacMillan. "Hes very thorough. Ive spoken to him many, many times before, and the fact that hes got experience with different athletes from different sports, both male and female, he uses the new technology, he goes to the video a lot, really breaks down the biomechanics."MacMillan is the founder of Sports Science Lab, which specializes in sports performance, fitness, and physical rehabilitation.Gauffs game hasnt been completely off this year, having won the French Open back in May. But her serve has been inconsistent, and she clearly wants to get ahead of that before a tournament many across the U.S. would love to see her win again on home soil.Gauff was the 2023 champion in Flushing, Queens, but she was unable to defend her title in 2024 as she lost in the fourth round. Sabalenka went on to defeat another American, Jessica Pegula, in straight sets to claim the victory.Gauff fired her coach, Brad Gilbert, following that fourth-round exit at the U.S. Open. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMBears' Tyson Bagent breaks down in tears after receiving life-changing contract: 'Weight off my shoulders'The Chicago Bears may have Caleb Williams as the future at quarterback, but the dedication of his backup, Tyson Bagent, led general manager Ryan Poles to give him a reported two-year, $10 million contract extension. That decision brought Bagent to tears during his press conference on Wednesday.Of course, this isnt a record-breaking contract, but with a maximum value of $16 million including incentives, Bagent couldnt contain how he felt about earning such a large sum of money.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"A lot of people dont know this, but my dad is my right-hand man," Bagent told reporters while wiping away tears. "He didnt have running water until high school, so theres definitely a lot of people I can certainly help with this gift Ive been blessed with. Its certainly a weight off my shoulders and my familys shoulders."The 25-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Shepherd, a Division II college, in 2023. He worked his way up the Bears depth chart during training camp that year, and earned himself the backup role behind Justin Fields.BROWNS' DILLON GABRIEL CLARIFIES 'ENTERTAINERS' COMMENT AMID QB COMPETITION WITH SHEDEUR SANDERSWhen Fields went down with injury that year, Bagent started four games, and he won his first for Chicago. He became the first undrafted Division II quarterback to start in a game since 1950.Bagent went 2-2 over that span, but when the Bears had the first overall pick in last years NFL Draft, it was clear where Poles and the entire organization were going with it.Williams was drafted out of USC to be their hopeful franchise quarterback, but Bagent once again shined in training camp to keep his backup role. However, entering this season was a different animal because a new sheriff or rather, a new head coach was in Chicago.Ben Johnson, the whiz offensive coordinator from the Detroit Lions, accepted the head coach position. So, Bagent had to prove his worth in this years training camp to solidify his role behind Williams. Not only did he accomplish the mission, but his work ethic and production have clearly impressed the organization.During the Bears 38-0 preseason rout of the Buffalo Bills this past weekend, Bagent led Chicago to three straight scoring drives after Williams delivered a strong outing under center. Bagent went 13-of-22 for 196 yards with a passing touchdown in the victory.Bagent knows that he will need to be ready at a moments notice if Williams cant fulfill his quarterback duties during the 2025 season. But for now, the young man is grateful that his hard work has quite literally paid off.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 19 Visualizações 0 Anterior
