Trump admin bans federal work-study funds from supporting political activism on college campuses
The Trump administration on Tuesday banned former President Biden-era guidance that allowed taxpayer-funded federal programs to pay students to engage in certain political activities on college campuses. The Education Department released updated guidance in a news release that stated Federal Work Study (FWS) funds"should focus on jobs that provide real-world work experience instead of political activities.""Federal Work Study is meant to provide students opportunities to gain real-world experience that prepares them to succeed in the workforce, not as a way to fund political activism on our college and university campuses,"Under Secretary of Education Nicholas Kent said in a written statement.Kent said that American taxpayers will no longer fund poll workers, voter hotlines or political rallies on campus and will not require schools to ask students to register to vote if they know the students are ineligible, like foreign students.TRUMP ANNOUNCES HE'LL HELM MOVEMENT TO ELIMINATE MAIL-IN VOTING AND VOTING MACHINES: 'FIGHT LIKE HELL'The department further requested that educational institutions remind students of federal voting laws, including: only U.S. citizens may vote in federal elections; voting more than once or in multiple states is illegal; falsifying registration information is a federal crime; and voters can only register in the place where they are legally domiciled. The updated guidance comes in response to President Donald Trumps executive order titled, "Protecting the Integrity of American Elections."DOJ TARGETS NONCITIZENS ON VOTER ROLLS AS PART OF TRUMP ELECTION INTEGRITY PUSHTrump has since pushed to eliminate what he called "controversial" methods of voting, specifically the use of mail-in voting and voting machines in U.S. elections. In a lengthy Truth Social post on Monday, Trump asserted, "I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS" as well as "Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES."He said he would sign another related executive order in advance of the 2026 midterm elections. FBI's Kash Patel vows agency won't stop combatting DC crime until 'every community is safe' after 550 arrests
EXCLUSIVE: FBI Director Kash Patel said that his agency will continue pouring resources into combating crime in Washington, D.C., until "every community is safe."Patel said in a Wednesday post on X that 550 people have been arrested in Washington, D.C., since President Donald Trump moved to federalize the Metropolitan Police Department. Of those arrests, 66 were on Tuesday.Patel said the FBI was involved in 41 of the arrests on Tuesday night, with eight drug seizures and six illegal firearms recovered.MS-13 GANG MEMBER ARRESTED IN DC AS BONDI TOUTS ADMIN'S 'EXTRAORDINARY' CRIME CRACKDOWN"The men and women of the FBI, working side by side with our local law enforcement partners, have taken hundreds of dangerous criminals off the streets of Washington, D.C. This is proof of what happens when good cops are empowered to do their jobs the right way. Under President Trumps leadership, were bringing historic resources to this fight because crime in our nations capital is unacceptable and we will continue until every community is safe," Patel said in a statement to Fox News Digital.A White House spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Tuesday night's efforts by law enforcement yielded 91 arrests, including 25 illegal immigrants. The illegal immigrants arrested on Tuesday night had criminal backgrounds, including burglary, threat to injure or kidnap a person, destruction of property and more.HUNDREDS ARRESTED AS TRUMPS WASHINGTON, DC, CRIME CRACKDOWN HITS FULL STRIDEAn MS-13 member previously convicted of drug possession and driving while intoxicated was arrested in Washington, D.C., on Monday night, Attorney General Pam Bondi posted on X."At the direction of [President Donald Trump], our nations capital is a SAFER placeand we are just getting started. 52 arrests were made last night, including an MS-13 gang member, and 9 firearms were taken off the streets," Bondi wrote. "Since our mission began, there have been a total of 465 arrests, 68 guns seized, and charges for homicide, narcotics, and firearm offenses. Nearly half of these arrests occurred in the high-crime areas of DC. Residents and tourists alike appreciate this extraordinary effort by our DC and Federal law enforcement partners."The Department of Justice announced on Tuesday it's investigating whether crime data was manipulated by police in Washington, D.C., In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: "D.C. gave Fake Crime numbers in order to create a false illusion of safety."The FBI on Wednesday announced the agency will publish reported crime data monthly, instead of less-frequent updates. When addressing Trump's federalization of the Metropolitan Police Department during a town hall on Aug. 12, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser said the president's actions highlight the need for a Democratic House majority."This is a time where community needs to jump in. We all need to, to do what we can in our space, in our lane, to protect our city and to protect our autonomy, to protect our home rule, and get to the other side of this guy, and make sure we elect a Democratic House so that we have a backstop to this authoritarian push," Bowser said.Fox News Digital's Peter D'Abrosca and Emma Colton contributed to this report.

Vance, White House blast 'crazy communists' protesting DC clean-up, terrorizing locals: 'Stupid White hippies'
A throng of protesters chanted slogans as Vice President JD Vance thanked National Guard and police at Union Station in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.Vance praised law enforcement and said that violent crime had dropped by 35% in the nine days since President Donald Trump ordered the crackdown. The vice president appeared alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, each of whom remarked on the shouting protesters.Over the past several years, Vance described Union Station as having vagrants, drug addicts, "chronically homeless" people and the mentally ill threatening violence and attacking families in the public transportation hub."I think you hear these guys outside here screaming at us. Of course, these are a bunch of crazy protesters. But I'll tell you, a couple of years ago, when I brought my kids here, they were screamed at by violent vagrants. And it scared the hell out of my kids," Vance said."I know that we've traded now, some violent, crazy people who are screaming at kids with a few crazy liberals who are screaming at the vice president. But I think that's a very worthwhile trade to make, because we want our people to be able to enjoy our beautiful cities," Vance continued. "This is your city. You should feel free to come and visit here."EXPERT FLIPS SCRIPT ON DEMS PUSHING 'CHERRY-PICKED' CRIME STATS TO RESIST TRUMP'S DC CRACKDOWNVance also clashed with a reporter who asked if he had evidence of Washington's crime problem."You just have to look around obviously D.C. has a terrible crime problem," he said, pointing to how Department of Justice and FBI statistics "back it up.""Just talk to a resident of this city, this beautiful, great American city," Vance said. "We hear these people outside screaming Free D.C.' Let's free D.C. from lawlessness.""It is kind of bizarre we have a bunch of old, primarily White people who are out there protesting the policies that keep people safe when they have never felt danger in their entire lives," the vice president added.Miller was even more blunt, describing many of the protesters as "elderly" and "over 90 years old."EXPERT FLIPS SCRIPT ON DEMS PUSHING 'CHERRY-PICKED' CRIME STATS TO RESIST TRUMP'S DC CRACKDOWN"Were not going to let communists destroy a great American city, let alone the nation's capital," Miller said, deriding the protesters as "stupid White hippies.""For too long, 99% of this city has been terrorized by 1% of this city," Miller said. "And the voices that you hear out there, these crazy communists, they have no connection to the city. They have no families. They weren't raised in this city. They have no one that they're sending to school in this city. They have no jobs in this city. They have no connections to this community at all. They're the ones who've been advocating for the 1%. The criminals, the killers, the rapists, the drug dealers."The Trump administrations crackdown on violent crime in D.C. has already netted hundreds of arrests. The show of force has swept up gang members, robbery suspects and immigration violators. On Friday alone, 52 people were arrested, including 28 illegal immigrants, while three guns were seized.Federal teams have also cleared dozens of homeless encampments, and officials said those removals were carried out without confrontations or arrests. The operation began quietly on Aug. 7 with the launch of the "Making D.C. Safe and Beautiful" task force created by Trump in March through an executive order. He escalated it on Aug. 11 by temporarily seizing federal control of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) under emergency powers in the Home Rule Act, the first such move in U.S. history.Fox News' Michael Dorgan contributed to this report

Ukraines stolen children crisis looms large as NATO meets on Russias war
The thousands of Ukrainian children abducted since Russias invasion began three-and-a-half-years-ago are once again at the forefront of international discussions as NATO leaders convened to discuss the war.Following Russias deadly 2022 invasion, Ukrainian children have been among the wars chief victims, with Kyiv confirming that there have been at least 19,546 cases of unlawful deportation and forced transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia, Belarus, or Russian-occupied territory, by Russian authorities. Some reports have suggested the number of forcibly transported Ukrainian children could be significantly higher, ranging closer to 35,000 abductions many of whom are feared to have been illegally adopted.'JUST EVIL': TOP REPUBLICAN DETAILS RUSSIA'S 'HORRIFIC' MASS ABDUCTIONS OF UKRAINIAN CHILDRENFox News Digital could not confirm if NATO leaders, who convened on Wednesday for a debrief by U.S. military leaders, will include how to remedy the immense human rights violations targeting Ukrainian children as they look to establish security guarantees, possibly as soon as this week. But President Donald Trump, who met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday followed by a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO leaders on Monday, said the issue of forcibly deported Ukrainian children "is a subject at the top of all lists."The issue was reignited after First Lady Melania Trump sent a letter to Putin, which Trump hand-delivered during his meeting on Friday, in which she said, "it is time" to restore childrens "dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.""A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generations descendants begin their lives with a purityan innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology," she wrote. The first lady did not specifically mention the war in Ukraine, though her letter, first obtained by Fox News Digital, was championed by Kyiv.UKRAINES 'UNDERGROUND RAILROAD' RESCUES ABDUCTED UKRAINIAN CHILDREN FROM RUSSIAN REEDUCATION CAMPSZelenskyy appeared to surprise Trump by in turn handing him a letter written by his wife, Olena Zelenska, intended for the first lady. The contents of the second letter have not been disclosed, but Trump noted his wifes compassion when it comes to the issue of children a topic Zelenska has also worked to address."She sees the heartbreak, the parents, the funerals that you see on television, always funerals," Trump said. Some children have been returned to Ukraine incrementally through the help of third-party mediators, like Qatar and the Vatican, though reporting suggests only some 1,500 have been released by Russian authorities.Ukrainian negotiators have been pushing for the return of the Ukrainian children for months as they meet with Russian counterparts in Turkey. While prisoner-of-war swaps have been agreed to, Zelenskyy said Russian officials have refused to hand over any Ukrainian children directly to Kyiv.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"We cannot reach an agreement with them on the return of the children," Zelenskyy told reporters last week, adding that despite attempts it remains "impossible" without the help of other parties involved."That is why we wanted to get certain matters settled in this trilateral track: ceasefire, an all-for-all exchange, and the return of children," he added. "This is something everyone benefits from: President Trump benefits, the Russians lose nothing, the Ukrainians lose nothing. Its a fair compromise."

Mamdani sidesteps 'communism' question, says his campaign is about 'distribution of wealth'
New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani dodged a question about President Donald Trump labeling him a "communist" when pressed by Fox News' Nate Foy on Wednesday.Referencing a Fox News Digital report, in which his supporters dismissed Mamdani's "communist" label, Foy asked the self-described democratic socialist if the distinction between communism and socialism matters."Are there elements of communism in your platform?" Foy asked."The elements of my platform are all about affordability, and I am a democratic socialist," Mamdani said. "When New Yorkers ask me what it means, I take them to the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, who said, 'Call it democracy or call it democratic socialism, there must be a better distribution of wealth for all of God's children in this country.'"ZOHRAN MAMDANI SUPPORTERS UNFAZED BY TRUMP'S 'COMMUNIST' LABEL, DEFEND THE CANDIDATE'S AFFORDABILITY FIGHTSince Mamdani's primary upset earlier this summer, the Democratic mayoral nominee has been branded a "communist" by Trump.ZOHRAN MAMDANI LAUNCHES ANTI-TRUMP TOUR ACROSS FIVE BOROUGHS IN NEW YORK CITYMamdani supporters who spoke to Fox News Digital at a canvass launch in Prospect Park on Sunday dismissed the term, arguing that his primary win represented more than arbitrary labels."It's not necessarily communism that won the New York City primary, but the vision that he's delivering for a more affordable New York," said Nina, a door-knocker who wore an "Educators for Zohran" T-shirt on Sunday. "That's what people voted for, and that's what he won on, and that's what he's going to win on."Mamdani has been endorsed by progressive leaders, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. Trump was quick to label him a "100% Communist Lunatic" after Mamdani declared victory in June.Perry, another Brooklyn canvasser, flipped the script on Trump's nickname for Mamdani, telling Fox News Digital to "look at the people who are saying he can't do it or who are calling him a socialist or communist."Bridget, a New York City teacher, and Perry both shook their heads in disagreement when asked if those labels worry them."It's not about ideology," said Nicholas, a Mamdani supporter who volunteered in Prospect Park on Sunday for the campaign's canvass launch. "It's not trying to demonize these terms, communism and socialism, which, quite frankly, I think the American public does not have a very good idea of what those terms exactly mean."Fox News Digital posed the same question to everyday New Yorkers in Manhattan's Union Square on Tuesday evening. One voter, Ritvik, who said he was voting for Mamdani in the upcoming November election, despite usually leaning to the right, said the "communist" label didn't ;phase him."That kind of rhetoric has always come from the Trump administration, so not particularly surprising to me," Ritvik said.Another Mamdani voter, Ian, told Fox News Digital that it's "hard not to ignore the connection between the biggest city in America and the president."But despite Trump's eagerness to criticize Mamdani, Ian said he appreciates that Mamdani is more focused on delivering for New Yorkers.Mamdani hosted a weeklong "Five Boroughs Against Trump" tour across New York City last week. The mayoral hopeful spoke to reporters on Wednesday after joining the Hotel & Gaming Trades Council (HTC) union for a rally outside the Surrey Hotel. The protesters criticized the hotel for allegedly not rehiring over 100 union workers who were laid off during the pandemic.

Illegal trucker deported himself to CA,' lawmaker says, while revealing systemic crisis in transportation
Harjinder Singhs deadly wreck on Floridas Turnpike exposes not just the illegal immigration crisis but systemic negligence or worse in transportation-related areas, Florida Rep. Brian Mast told Fox News Digital in a Wednesday interview.Mast lives only 10 minutes from where Singh made an unlawful U-turn on Floridas Turnpike and killed three people whose vehicle became wedged under his rig after he illegally used a median crossover meant for emergency vehicles. The interview was held as Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and other officials were in-flight to California to extradite Singh, an illegal immigrant, to face charges for the incident in Masts St. Lucie County district.Mast said Singhs case undercuts Democrats claims that the Trump administration targeted only "violent criminals" rather than immigrants working regular jobs and paying taxes.ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TRUCKER ACCUSED OF KILLING THREE PEOPLE FAILED ENGLISH, ROAD SIGN TESTS: DOT"This is just one example of saying this is why it matters if you're here illegally you're going back to your country of origin -- whether you're driving a truck or anything else," Mast said.As a member of the House Transportation Committee, Mast said he has heard complaints from municipal officials who run the local DMVs who tell him the problem of illegal immigrants getting CDLs en-masse is "systemic."Illegal immigrants who, at times, may be English-illiterate have been coached to recite specific sentences, identify specific letters on ophthalmologic charts and the like, to essentially get by in their new jobs."Now it's coming out, you know, [Singh] maybe knew, you know one or two things in English that he was supposed to know and didn't know the rest. They clearly don't know [what they need to]. Somehow, the school passes them," he said.TRUMP ADMIN SLAMS ACLU FOR COMPARING ICE CENTER TO JAPANESE INTERNMENT CAMP: DERANGED AND LAZYSingh, who illegally immigrated in 2018 from India, obtained a CDL in California and was initially rejected by the first Trump administration for a work authorization. The case shows the need for an all-of-the-above approach to enforcing immigration law, said Mast who previously likened the deluge of illegal immigrants crossing out of Mexico during the Biden administration to the proportion of Allies storming Normandy on D-Day.Singhs alleged actions also show the difference between state policies of Florida and California, he said."He kills three people and what is his first decision? To go back to California this individual, knowing that theres some serious st about to roll downhill his way, says Im going to be safer and more protected in California than I am in Florida.""And as a result, he deported himself to California," Mast said.UNION BOSS COMPARES ICE TO AL PACINO MOBSTER AS MORE DEMS PILE ON IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENTAnother weakness in the transportation and immigration infrastructure was also exposed by Singhs deadly crash, Mast said.He ruminated on how many state weigh-stations Singh had to drive through on his way from California to Florida. In that regard, he asked how much focus is put on the individual driver versus the typical criteria of load tonnage and vehicular roadworthiness. With an adjustment to also focus on the competency of the drivers, weigh stations could play a bigger role in keeping dangerous people like illiterate illegal immigrants off highways, he said."It's the perfect example as to why we need to be dealing with all illegals, whether they're in the trades or whether they are historic violent offenders. We need to look at; are our highway weigh stations putting as much focus on the individual driving the truck as they are the load on the truck?"CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFlorida transportation officials were equally outraged at the situation."The actions taken by the Defendant while operating a commercial tractor-trailer are both shocking and criminal," Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles executive director Dave Kerner said in a statement."Three people lost their lives as a result of [Singhs] recklessness, and countless friends and family members will experience the pain of their loss forever. Harjinder Singh is in custody on state vehicular homicide charges and immigration violations. He will no longer be able to damage and destroy the lives of Floridians and visitors."Kerner said FHP remains committed to enforcing both state and federal laws against those posing a danger to the public.

Vance says National Guard is 'busting their a-- in Washington, floats mission extension
Vice President JD Vance touted the progress National Guard troops have made tackling crime in Washington the past nine days and suggested that their mission may extend past 30 days.President Donald Trump unveiled plans Aug. 11 to deploy troops from the D.C. National Guard and to federalize the Metropolitan Police Department to tackle crime in Washington. And, so far, those efforts are paying off, according to Vance."We are seeing really substantial effects because these guys are busting their a--," Vance said while meeting with National Guard troops at Washingtons Union Station Wednesday.NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS FROM SIX RED STATES HEAD TO DC TO HELP TACKLE CRIME"Right here in Union Station, you have vagrants, you have drug addicts, you have the chronically homeless, you have the mentally ill who harass, who threatened violence, who attacked families," Vance said. "And they've done it for far too long. This should be a monument to American greatness."The 1973 Home Rule Act permits a temporary federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department for emergency situations up to 30 days. However, after that time frame, Congress must intervene and sign off on any extensions. No such limitations exist for D.C. National Guard troops, however, in the Home Rule Act.On Aug. 13, Trump said that the administrations goal was to ramp down crime quickly, but signaled that "we're going to want extensions."When asked if extensions were on the table, Vance said that Trump would reevaluate, depending on how much progress occurs in the next several weeks.TRUMP VOWED DC TAKEOVER MULTIPLE TIMES ON 2024 CAMPAIGN TRAIL: 'HE'S KEEPING HIS PROMISE'"Well ultimately let the president of the United States determine where we are after 30 days of this, of this emergency order. I think that we're going to make a lot of progress over the next 20 days," Vance said. "I think we're nine days into this thing. But if the president of the United States thinks that he has to extend his order to ensure that people have access to public safety, then that's exactly what he'll do. If he thinks he doesn't have to do that, obviously we'll make that determination."Meanwhile, Washington officials filed a lawsuit challenging the Trump administrations move to federalize local police Friday.TRUMP ACTIVATES NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS TO ADDRESS TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL CRIME IN WASHINGTON"By illegally declaring a takeover of MPD, the Administration is abusing its temporary, limited authority under the law," Washington, D.C., Attorney General Brian Schwalb wrote in a Friday X post. "This is the gravest threat to Home Rule DC has ever faced, and we are fighting to stop it."In addition to the DC National Guard, National Guard troops from Ohio, West Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee are participating in the Trump administrations crackdown in Washington, and approximately 1,300 have already arrived in the nations capital.

'Full of s---': New York Republican accuses state Dems of hypocrisy in redistricting push
A House GOP lawmaker from New York is accusing Democratic leaders in his state of having a hypocritical response to redistricting efforts in Texas and other red states.Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., one of three House Republicans nationwide who won a district that President Donald Trump lost in 2024, has been vocal about his opposition to the growing redistricting war across the U.S."I think obviously across the board, you know, I don't agree with this effort," Lawler told Fox News Digital of the push in both red and blue states. "But I think we also have to look at this holistically New York did mid-decade redistricting last year.""So, for [Gov.] Kathy Hochul and Democrats like [House Minority Leader] Hakeem Jeffries and [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer to decry what's happening in Texas, they're full of s---. They literally did it last year."GOP LAWMAKERS CLASH OVER STRATEGY TO AVERT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN CRISISThe method for drawing congressional maps does vary between states, with some relying more on their state legislatures, while others like New York rely on advice from independent bodies known as redistricting commissions. The Empire States bipartisan redistricting commission approved a new map in early 2024 that largely affected three congressional seats in upstate and central New York two of which flipped from red to blue in last years elections, while the third remained in Democratic hands. It came after New York States highest court ordered new congressional maps to be drawn for the 2024 election, in what was regarded as a major victory for Democrats after they lost a number of suburban seats in the 2022 midterms. Two of those seats have since flipped back to blue in last years races, though they saw no significant changes in the latest re-draw."New York redrew its maps, getting a bogus court order to do so after stacking the Court of Appealsin an effort to pick up five seats. They picked up four," Lawler said, referencing the four total seats Democrats won in 2024 that they lost in 2022."So for them to act as though they are holier than thou and that they didn't actually do this first is laughable. And when you look at Texas, you know they legally can do it. New York legally cannot. And that's the difference."Lawler warned, however, that the growing redistricting fight could have negative implications for representation across the country."When you look at these congressional seats, I mean, they've become so hyperpartisan that there's very few districts that are actually competitive," he said."I think the larger point is that the American people should want more competitive races, because it forces members of Congress to make sure that they are appealing to a broader swath of voters in their districts. If they only have to worry about a primary to get elected, then they're only playing to the base instead of the broader middle."Lawler said he would soon be introducing a bill to ban partisan gerrymandering nationwide, as part of a larger package aimed at fixing what he saw as longstanding issues with Congress.GOP GOVERNOR NOMINEE PUSHES REDISTRICTING TO OUST STATE'S LONE HOUSE DEM"Theres also other reforms as part of it that I think are essential, including term limits for members of Congress. And, you know, when you're talking about the census, you know, illegal immigrants should not be counted as part of the census lawful permanent residents and legal, you know, visa holders, among others, should be but illegals should not be," Lawler said."I think most Americans agree with that. So there's a number of provisions that will be part of the legislation that I'm putting together."When reached for comment on Lawler's criticism, Viet Shelton, spokesperson for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), told Fox News Digital, "We know Lawler never minds bending the knee to Donald Trump, but did he forget that Trump demanded Texas Republicans redraw their congressional map to steal seats because they know their party cant win on the merits? Stop whining."The interview comes as Texas is readying to adopt a new congressional map that could give Republicans as many as five new seats in the 2026 midterms.California leaders have pledged to press for new maps to give Democrats a corresponding advantage, while a host of states on both sides, including New York, are signaling that theyre also not ruling out similar moves.Fox News Digital reached out to spokespeople for Jeffries, Schumer, and Hochul for comment but did not hear back.
