Joe Burrow's risky hits during Bengals' preseason game gets football fans worried
There are two schools of thought for NFL preseason: The quarterback needs reps before Week 1, or they need to sit to avoid the chance of an injury. Some teams see a drive or two by their starting quarterback, and other first-teamers on both sides of the ball, just to play it safe. But the Cincinnati Bengals have not been doing that with star quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bengals have mentioned their slow starts in recent seasons, which has led to players like Burrow, JaMarr Chase and more first-team offense getting significant reps this preseason. But what occurred on Monday night against the Washington Commanders had Bengals fans covering their eyes.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMDuring the first quarter, Burrow wasnt playing things safe when he scrambled outside the pocket. With multiple Commanders defenders in pursuit, Burrow didnt try to go out of bounds or slide, but rather turned around and tried scurrying away from them to keep the play alive.Burrow ended up running more than 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage and three different Washington linemen sacked him near the goal line."Probably dont want to see Joe Burrow doing this in a preseason game, or in any game, for that matter," The 33rd Teams Ari Merov wrote on X while sharing the play.BENGALS ROOKIE KNOCKS DOWN JOE BURROW DURING PRACTICE, SPARKS HEATED CONFRONTATION WITH TEAMMATESThen, another scary moment occurred when the Bengals pocket collapsed again, and while trying to get out of it, Burrow was slammed to the turf. It was a horse collar tackle and Washington was given a 15-yard penalty, but Bengals fans couldnt be happy seeing their franchise quarterback spun around and thrown to the ground in that fashion. While quarterbacks like Buffalo Bills Josh Allen, Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Hurts, and Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson havent seen an ounce of preseason game snaps, the Bengals have adopted a different philosophy having lost the first two regular-season games in each of the past two seasons. These two plays will be talked about the most, but Burrow has been productive through his first two preseason games, going 18-of-24 for three touchdowns in five series between the Commanders and Eagles contests."Its one of those things for him, thats what preseason footballs for. Do I love seeing that? No, I dont," Taylor said about Burrows "bad sack" during an in-game interview with ESPN. "But, at the same time, hes out there learning what he can and cant do and weve seen him get out of that stuff before and thats why hes playing in the preseason, for a chance to feel what its like to feel in a game and theres times where he gets out of that and gets a big play and times where were in a tough spot at the two-yard line. He gets a chance to feel all that and learn from it."The sentiment still stands for fans who believe Burrow needs to be safer despite his head coachs philosophy."Go down, Joe, its August," ESPN play-by-play announcer Joe Buck said during the broadcast.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Here are the 5 GOP House seats that could be wiped out with Newsom's California redistricting plan
California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his fellow state Democrats are threatening a redistricting plan that would eliminate more than half of the current GOP-held congressional districts amid a nationwide battle over gerrymandering.Republicans currently hold nine seats in California, compared to the Democrats' 43. Under Newsom's proposed plan, Democrats would pick up five more seats."We strongly believe that this map serves the best interest of California voters, while also attempting to push back against the corrupt scheme occurring in Texas and other Republican-majority states where Republicans doing the bidding of their DC party bosses are considering adopting a clearly racially gerrymandered, partisan map at the expense of their voters," the Democratic Congressional Campaign Commission (DCCC) said last week. Here are the Republicans whose districts would likely become unwinnable under the plan.DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIST SAYS PARTY LACKS 'MORAL AUTHORITY' ON TEXAS REDISTRICTING FIGHTRep. Doug Lamalfa's northern congressional district is currently mostly rural, leading to a +17 Republican voter registration advantage.Under the proposed redistricting plan, however, that would swing to a +10 advantage for Democrats. This would be accomplished by reclassifying a vast section of the district's northernmost territory.CALIFORNIA LAUNCHES REDISTRICTING FIGHT TO NULLIFY TEXAS GOP PLAN, WITH DEMS POISED TO GAIN 5 SEATSRep. Kevin Kiley's third congressional district currently has a +6 Republican advantage by voter registration, but that would flip to a +8 Democrat advantage under the new plan. This is accomplished by stretching the district to include portions of the deep-blue suburbs around Sacramento.Rep. David Valadao is one of the few Republicans in California who was able to win a district that already has a slight Democratic advantage.Under the new plan, however, Democrats would tack a six-point advantage on top of the current voter registration match-up.Rep. Ken Calvert's 41st congressional district would face a massive swing toward Democrats, with the GOP losing its voter registration advantage and Democrats picking up a +20 advantage."64% of Californians oppose Gavin Newsoms power grab. Its clear there is bipartisan support for keeping the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and not allowing politicians to draw their district maps behind closed doors to choose their voters," Calvert wrote of the plan on X.Rep. Darrell Issa's district would pick up a section of Calvert's former district in Palm Springs, a deep blue voting area that promises to swing Issa's district to a +4 Democrat advantage.Based on the 2024 presidential election, Issa's district went +15 in favor of Trump, but under the new boundaries it would have gon +3 in favor of former Vice President Kamala Harris, according to the Cook Political Report.Of the five seats impacted, Valadao's and Issa's would be turned into lean-Democratic districts that may still be winnable by Republican candidates, but the others would be flipping firmly to the Democrats.

Chicago residents call Obama Presidential Center a 'monstrosity,' fear they'll be displaced: report
Chicago community leaders and longtime residents say the Obama Presidential Center risks washing away the neighborhoods fabric, warning that proposed luxury developments tied to the project could price out families who have long called the South Side home, according to a report. They also say the sprawling 19.3-acre site in historic Jackson Park, with its 225-foot-tall concrete museum, has become an eyesore that disrupts the natural landscape and all locals are getting in return for the unsightly structure is soaring rents and higher tax bills."This is a monument to one man's ego,"Steve Cortes, a longtime Chicagoan and former advisor to President Donald Trump, told the Daily Mail. "Look at the Reagan Library. It's beautiful. This? There are almost no windows. What are they hiding? And this Brutalist cement look in a city known for its incredible architecture."OBAMA LIBRARY, BEGUN WITH LOFTY DEI GOALS, NOW PLAGUED BY $40M RACIALLY CHARGED SUIT, BALLOONING COSTSThe Obama Foundation secured a 99-year lease for the public parcel for $10 in 2018 and promised to revitalize the area. Obama said at the time that the project did not intend to displace residents, adding that its overseers are trying to balance boosting jobs and economic development in the area while maintaining and protecting existing affordable housing.Alderwoman Jeanette Taylor, who represents much of the working-class neighborhood surrounding the site, fears that locals are being priced out."Every time large development comes to communities, they displace the very people they say they want to improve it for. This was no different, and were living what is actually happening," Taylor told the outlet. "Were going to see rents go higher and were going to see families displaced."She has pushed for protections such as affordable housing requirements around the site, tenant purchase rights and rental assistance to shield residents from displacement. She won some concessions in the 2020 agreement whereby 30% of new units on city-owned land were to be affordable but many of her broader demands, including a full Community Benefits Agreement (CBA), were not adopted.CHICAGO SOUTH SIDE RESIDENTS SAY THEY'RE BEING DISPLACED BY OBAMA CENTER: CAUSING 'HARM TO BLACK FAMILIES'A CBA is a binding deal that requires developers to deliver protections such as affordable housing, local hiring or other safeguards to ensure big projects dont push out existing residents."The city of Chicago should have done a Community Benefits Agreement before the first shovel went into the ground, but they didnt," Taylor said. "Were going to see small landlords having to raise the rent. Their property taxes are going up and were going to see development that is not inclusive to our community."Residents point to a proposed 250-room luxury hotel as a symbol and a driver of economic pressures far beyond the scale of existing neighborhood development. Once a major luxury project is approved, surrounding property values typically spike and so its presence signals to investors and developers that the area is shifting toward wealthier clientele and away from its historically working-class, majority-Black base. The hotels approval is still under review, and residents have held demonstrations calling for its rejection. The investment firm behind the project is headed byAllison Davis, a veteran real estate developer and lawyer who was Obamas first boss out of Harvard Law School.TRUMP OFFERS TO HELP OBAMA WITH PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY'S 'DISASTER'"When you got peoples rent going from $850 to $1,300 youre telling people you dont want them in the neighborhood," said Dixon Romeo, an organizer with the Obama Community Benefits Agreement Coalition, told NBC Chicago at a demonstration in April.Since ground was broken, construction has progressed at a snails pace while costs have ballooned from an original estimate of $330 million to a 2021 foundation projection of $830 million with no updates since then. The center, which aims to honor former President Barack Obama's political career, will also consist of a digital library, conference facilities, a gymnasium and a regulation-sized NBA court. It will also house the nonprofit Obama Foundation, which is overseeing the centers development. The scale of the project and the aesthetics of its centerpiece library have come in for criticism.Ken Woodard, an attorney and father of six who grew up in the area, called it a "monstrosity." "It looks like this big piece of rock that just landed here out of nowhere in what used to be a really nice landscape of trees and flowers," Woodward told the Daily Mail."Its over budget, its taking way too long to finish and its going to drive up prices and bring headaches and problems for everyone who lives here. It feels like a washing away of the neighborhood and culture that used to be here."Kyana Butler, an activist with Southside Together who campaigned for a CBA around the Obama Center, shared similar sentiments with the outlet."Its pretty huge and monstrous," Butler said. "It could have been smaller in scale and cost a lot less money. Were all worried about the impact on the community."Tyrone Muhammad, director of Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change, said, "Its truly the Tower of Babel.""Property taxes are going up so much that the owner of my building is saying she might just walk away.. I dont blame President Obama for all of this, but the people on his team may not have the best intentions for people in this area," Muhammed, a 2026 Illinois Senate candidate, told the outlet."Its disingenuous and hypocritical to take park space away from people and then not involve them in what takes its place. The move violates common decency."Fox News Digital has reached out to the Obama Center for comment. In May, PresidentDonald Trump offered to help out with the development of the center and linked DEI to the construction problems. The project set out "ambitious goals" for certain construction diversity quotas, with its contracts to be allocated to"diverse suppliers," 35% of which were required to be minority-based enterprises (MBEs)."Look, President Obama, if he wanted help, I'd give him help because I'm a really good builder and I build on time, on budget. He's building his library in Chicago. It's a disaster," Trump said, adding that Obama was paying for prioritizing DEI over meritocracy."And he wanted to be very politically correct and he didn't use good, hard, tough, mean construction workers that I love, Marco,"Trump said, while addressing Secretary of State Marco Rubio.A $40.75 million racially charged lawsuit filed earlier this year by a minority contractor against the projects structural engineer shined a spotlight on the DEI-driven aspect of the project. The structural engineers claimed the minority contractor lacked sufficient qualifications and experience to perform its work, resulting in delays.

Cutting out alcohol and medicating sooner could prevent 'silent killer,' experts say
High blood pressure is a silent killer, experts warn, and nearly half of U.S. adults are at risk.Leading health groups say its best to act sooner rather than later to prevent long-term damage and they also recommend cutting out alcohol. The American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) teamed up with 11 other organizations to release new guidelines, published Aug. 14 in the American Heart Associations peer-reviewed journals Circulation and Hypertension, as well as in JACC, the flagship journal of the American College of Cardiology.YOUR HEART MAY BE OLDER THAN YOU THINK AND THE NUMBER COULD PREDICT DISEASE RISKThe new recommendations, which were refined through a rigorous peer-review process, represent the first major blood pressure update since 2017.The guidelines detail how doctors tackle high blood pressure and how people can take steps to manage their own, with a focus on prevention, early treatment and protection of both heart and brain health."High blood pressure is the most prevalent and No. 1 modifiable risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases," Daniel W. Jones, M.D., chair of the guideline writing committee and professor emeritus of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Mississippi, told Fox News Digital."Members of the writing committee have been monitoring new evidence continually since the last guideline published in 2017," he added.Instead of using one-size-fits-all charts, the new approach focuses on the PREVENT (Preventing Risk of cardiovascular disease EVENTs) method, a tool that calculates a person's 10- and 30-year risk of heart attack or stroke. In addition to blood pressure, it also considers cholesterol, kidney health, metabolic issues and geographical location.IM A CARDIOLOGIST HERES HOW THE SUMMER HEAT COULD DAMAGE YOUR HEARTThe guidelines also urge doctors to act earlier. That could mean prescribing medication sooner or tapping into newer options like GLP-1 drugs for certain patients.Another new recommendation was to cut out alcohol a change from the prior guidance for people to limit consumption."A lot of people enjoy drinking, but because the evidence is there, we want you to make an informed decision," Jones said."Theres a lot of individual variability with the relationship between alcohol and blood pressure, but we put forward the ideal as abstinence, and for those who choose to drink, less than one for women and less than two for men."Jones called the new alcohol guidance one of the two "most notable changes in the 2025 guidelines," along with reducing sodium intake from 2300 mg a day to 1500 mg a day.The experts also spotlighted the need to manage blood pressure during pregnancy to protect mothers and babies. Some of the prior standards still apply, like managing stress through exercise and maintaining a healthy weight, with a goal of at least a 5% reduction in body weight in adults who are overweight or obese.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTERNutrition remains a major factor, with recommendations to eat a healthy diet high in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, and low-fat or nonfat dairy, as well as lean meats and poultry, fish and non-tropical oils. For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/healthThese habits, combined with earlier medical intervention when needed, could dramatically reduce long-term complications, experts say.The blood pressure criteria remain the same as the 2017 guidelines, as seen in the chart below.Research shows that controlling blood pressure earlier in life can also help prevent dementia and preserve brain health."There is now more clear and robust evidence that intensive lowering of blood pressure reduces the risk of cognitive decline and dementia," Jones added.

Do you trust a system that's failing at education to handle your child's mental health?
Starting in the 20272028 school year, Illinois will be the first state to force annual mental health screenings on all public school kids in grades 3-12. Gov. J.B. Pritzker says its about catching issues like anxiety and depression early to boost kids well-being and keep them on track academically and socially. It sounds noble, but Im not sold. This plan raises red flags that could spell more trouble than solutions.First off, the idea of shifting mental healthcare from reactive to preventive sounds great on paper. Who doesnt want to stop problems before they spiral? But lets be real: Illinois schools are already dropping the ball on the basics. According to Wirepoints, only 39% of students1.1 million kidsread at grade level. Math scores are even worse. If schools cant teach kids to read and write properly, why should we trust them to play therapist? Id argue that building confidence through real academic successpushing kids to excel, not just passdoes more for their mental health than any questionnaire ever could. Then theres the screening itself. Theyre using tablets that ask everything from your mood to your home life. The state says these will be "age-appropriate," but kids, especially young ones, arent exactly known for nuance.ILLINOIS GOV JB PRITZKER LAMBASTED FOR NEW DISASTROUS POLICY REQUIRING MENTAL HEALTH SCREENINGS FOR KIDSA third-grader might check "sad" because they lost their favorite pencil, or a teen might exaggerate home issues out of frustration. Misinterpretations could lead to overreactionsthink a parent getting a knock from DCFS over a kids bad day.The state promises privacy and follow-ups by professionals, but with thousands of kids screened, whos ensuring every case is handled right? One slip-up, and families could face real consequences. Another slip-up: a school could let a child slip through the cracks.A true psychologist must investigate these issues to get to the root of the problem and that takes time. Were asking teachers and staff to add to their workload and that is not feasible. Also, there has been a shortage of mental health professionals in this country. Look at the Uvalde, Texas, shooting in 2022mental health professionals were in short supply then, and the American Psychological Association reported a nationwide shortage of school psychologists as recently as 2024.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONIllinois schools are already stretched thin with counselors; whos handling the fallout when a kid is flagged? Teachers? Theyre not trained for this, and piling on more work isnt fair or feasible. The data angle is another red flag. These screenings will churn out sensitive infomoods, behaviors, maybe family dynamics. In todays world, information is power, and this data could be sliced up by race, gender or income to spotlight disparities. The states push for health equity, as seen in its Beacon Portal, suggests theyll use this to argue certain groups need more help. The problem with disparities is that race and other immutable characteristics are always blamed it is never based on the individual but on the group. This could spiral into a mess that leaves the mental health issues of the individual student unsolved. Parents already worry about schools overstepping; handing over this kind of data doesnt build trust.Mental health is deeply personal. No two kids are alike, and a one-size-fits-all tablet quiz cant capture that. Schools arent therapy offices. Theyre not equipped to dig into the root of a kids struggles, and with professional shortages, many kids flagged by screenings might not get the help they need.Heres a better way: use the states budget to boost academic programs that build kids confidence alongside targeted mental health support for those who need it. That respects families, eases the burden on overworked schools, and avoids the risk of sensitive data being mishandled or misused. Illinois cant afford to get this wrong. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offered a blunt explanation for why he continues to act as the teams general manager while also owning the franchise.Jones, 82, said he has often been asked why he doesnt hire a general manager."Im often asked the question, Why I dont hire a general manager?" Jones said in Netflixs "Americas Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys."CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"Ive had people say, Jerry, you subject yourself to so much criticism. You need a buffer. I dont like it like that I like the pain."Jones has served as the teams general manager since purchasing the franchise in 1989. The Cowboys had significant success early in his tenure, winning Super Bowl XXVII (1992), Super Bowl XXVIII (1993), and Super Bowl XXX (1995).Since that dominant run in the early to mid-1990s, however, the Cowboys have not enjoyed the same level of success. The last time they reached the NFC Championship Game was in the 1995 season, the year they last won the Super Bowl.JOE BURROW'S RISKY HITS DURING BENGALS' PRESEASON GAME GETS FOOTBALL FANS WORRIEDThe Cowboys 30-year conference championship drought is the fourth-longest active drought in the NFL.Last season, the Cowboys finished 7-10 and missed the playoffs as quarterback Dak Prescott was limited to eight games with a hamstring injury. They made the playoffs in 2023 but lost 48-32 to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card round.Jones is currently under fire from the Cowboys fan base after star edge rusher Micah Parsons requested a trade a couple of weeks ago. Cuomo campaign denies bombshell report about Trump's influence in the NYC mayoral race
Despite a report to the contrary, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo's mayoral campaign told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that they aren't expecting help from anyone in the race for Gracie Mansion, including former President Donald Trump, despite a report to the contrary.POLITICO's New York Playbook reported that Cuomo is "counting on" Trump to urge Republicans to vote for the former governor instead of the Republican nominee, Curtis Sliwa, in this November's mayoral election.According to audio obtained by the outlet, Cuomo told a Hamptons crowd on Saturday that Sliwa isn't a "serious candidate" and Trump himself would say, "youll be wasting your vote on Sliwa."When reached for comment regarding the report, Cuomo's senior advisor, Rich Azzopardi, explained that Cuomo was responding to "what he heard to be a hypothetical about how it could become a two-person race and was speculating."TRUMP SAYS CUOMO'S GOT A 'GOOD SHOT' OF BEATING MAMDANI IN NYC MAYOR ELECTIONCuomo is New York City's "only chance" of defeating the Democratic mayoral nominee, Zohran Mamdani, the Cuomo campaign doubled down on Tuesday.CUOMO TONES DOWN TRUMP RHETORIC AFTER STUNNING LOSS TO MAMDANI IN NYC MAYOR PRIMARYMeanwhile, Sliwa has distanced himself from the president, maintaining that it wouldn't be helpful for Trump to intervene in New York City's mayoral race, after The New York Times' report that Trump has been speaking with Cuomo and his associates about how to defeat Mamdani in November.Trump and Cuomo have both denied the phone call ever happened, and the former governor said he wouldn't accept a Trump endorsement. The Republican nominee told Fox News Digital on Tuesday morning that Cuomo's campaign is "a mess," and said, "desperate people do desperate things.""Its just sad that Andrew Cuomo thinks a Trump headline will save him," Sliwa said in a statement. And Sliwa trolled Cuomo, arguing that "if he actually left the Hamptons," he would see the impact of his policies on New Yorkers," tying crime to his "disastrous no-bail law" and his controversial COVID-19 policies.Speaking to reporters at a campaign event in Manhattan on Monday, Cuomo confirmed that he attended the fundraiser at media mogul Jimmy Finkelsteins home in Southampton on Saturday. But Cuomo denied that during the fundraiser, he discussed Trump with former NYC City Council President, Andrew Stein, who co-hosted the event in the Hamptons."Lets put it this way: I knew the president very well," Cuomo said in the Hamptons, according to POLITICO, before adding, "I believe there will be opportunities to actually cooperate with him. I also believe that hes not going to want to fight with me in New York if he can avoid it."The comments followed Mamdani's week-long anti-Trump tour across New York City's Five Boroughs. Day by day, the self-described Democratic socialist spotlighted how Trump's sweeping second-term agenda is impacting New Yorkers, as he worked to tie Cuomo to Trump. The Mamdani campaign seized on the latest reporting, releasing a statement on Tuesday morning, arguing that "Andrew Cuomo has been caught red-handed.""Since he's too afraid to say it to New Yorkers' faces, we'll make it clear: Andrew Cuomo is Donald Trump's choice for mayor," Mamdani campaign spokeswoman, Dora Pekec, said.Cuomo's campaign was quick to respond, calling it "silly.""Mamdani is clearly trying to deflect from answering questions" about his own record, including his support for decriminalizing prostitution, for which Cuomo held a press conference criticizing on Monday.Mamdani has said he would be Trump's "worst nightmare" if elected in November. Trump has repeatedly criticized Mamdani, calling him a "100% Communist Lunatic."The White House has dismissed the idea that Trump is planning to get involved in the race."As President Trump has repeatedly stated, he has no intention of getting involved or making an endorsement in the New York City mayoral race," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital in a statement.Cuomo lost the Democratic primary to Mamdani in June but decided to stay in the race as an independent candidate. In the closing weeks ahead of New York City's Democratic Party mayoral primary, as he appeared to be cruising toward capturing his party's nomination, Cuomo focused his campaign's spotlight on Trump."Trumps coming for New York. Who do you think can stop him?" the narrator in a Cuomo campaign ad said over images of the June rioting in Los Angeles sparked by Trump's immigration crackdown."Trumps at the city gates. We need someone experienced to slam them shut," the narrator said, as he suggested that Cuomo was the most experienced candidate to push back against the president's agenda.Cuomo pledged, if elected mayor, to protect New York City from what he suggested could be a possible future federal crackdown against immigration protests in the city. And he vowed to mount a national campaign to try and thwart Trump's agenda. But Mamdanis stunning victory over Cuomo and nine other candidates last month to capture the Democratic Party nomination rocked the race for mayor in the nation's most populous city. And as Cuomo resets as he runs in the mayoral general election as an independent candidate, references to Trump have plummeted.Adams is also running as an independent candidate. Particularly on immigration, the incumbent mayor has developed a relationship with Trump."I helped him out a little bit," Trump admitted last month, referencing his Justice Department dropping corruption charges against the mayor earlier this year.Fox News Digital's Andrew Mark Miller contributed to this report.

"I don't see the person who re-engaged. And so until we see all the mugshots, this is still a racial issue."

California pastor leads rally at state capitol warning parents to flee state if 'dangerous' bill passes
A California pastor is calling on families to flee the state if a bill passes which would expand the categories of who can claim "caregiver" rights over a child."Legal experts have concluded that this very well might be the worst, most dangerous legislation that has ever come out of California," Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills warned, in an interview with Fox News Digital. "If this bill passes, you have to grab your kid and leave the state for your child's protection."Hibbs is leading a rally on Tuesday at 1 pm at the Capitol in Sacramento urging Governor Gavin Newsom to veto AB 495, called the Family Preparedness Plan Act.The bill intends to protect immigrant children at risk of family separation through immigration enforcement. The bill allows a caregiver who is a relative or has "an established familial or mentoring relationship with the child" to sign a caregiver's authorization affidavit and be given the legal right to enroll a minor in school and consent to school-related medical care on behalf of the minor, its text says.CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATS UNVEIL REDISTRICTING MAP TO WIPE OUT 5 GOP SEATS, COUNTER TEXAS PLANHibbs and parental rights groups in the state argue the bill is too broad as currently written, and could strip parents of their authority to make school-related medical decisions for their children.Schools are under no obligation to conduct further inquiries or investigations, the bill states. There is no requirement in the bill for schools to get parental consent, check photo I.D., or do a background check on those who complete the affidavit, Hibbs argued.
