MIKE DAVIS: Trump takes over DC police, but here's what must happen next
Washington, D.C., is a crime-infested cesspool and, sadly, has been for some time. Murders, armed robberies, carjackings and many other vicious crimes terrorize innocent residents, many of whom are poor racial minorities. For the past four years, the Biden administration, under the leadership of Biden D.C. U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, wasted precious resources that should have gone toward D.C. crime investigation and prosecution in pursuit of leftists obsession with January 6.President Trump has taken bold action to put a stop to this insanity by federalizing the D.C. Metropolitan Police. Attorney General Pam Bondi has designated Drug Enforcement Administration Director Terrance Cole to work with Mayor Muriel Bowser to help run the police department. That should further confuse Police Chief Pamela Smith, the department's former "chief equity officer," who raised eyebrows this week when she appeared not to know what the term "chain of command" even means.FEDERAL OVERSIGHT IN WASHINGTON A SPECIAL CASE AS OLD AS AMERICA ITSELFPresident Trump and his teams task in taking charge of law enforcement in the nation's capital is daunting, in part because of a little-discussed law that also needs to go.In the early 1970s, the Democrat-led Congress passed two laws that resulted in D.C. becoming ungovernable. The first restricted the presidents power to appoint judges to the local D.C. courts. The president has the same appointment power with respect to federal courts in D.C. that he does in other districts, but local courts, the D.C. Superior Court and D.C. Court of Appeals, hear most criminal matters that involve local crimes. For these judgeships, the president must choose from candidates selected by a seven-member, Democrat-controlled nominating commission. The president only appoints one member. Various others, including the mayor and the D.C. Bar, appoint members. The D.C. Bar is a farce. For instance, it is outrageously persecuting and attempting to disbar Jeff Clark, a Trump 45 Justice Department and Trump 47 White House Office of Management and Budget senior official, for a memorandum that he drafted and which was never even made public. The scheme for appointing local D.C. judges violates the U.S. Constitutions Appointments Clause. Only the president and Senate should have a role in such appointments, not a citys mayor or a local bar association. These local D.C. judges are, for the most part, rabid leftists. For example, President Ronald Reagan got stuck appointing radical leftist and future Obama-era Democrat Attorney General Eric Holder as a D.C. Superior Court judge. Even when thugs who terrorize innocent civilians are arrested, leftist D.C. judges, enabled by the radical D.C. City Council, hand down pathetically lenient sentences that allow these punksas new D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro calls themback out on the streets to cause more devastation.Juveniles often do not even go to Superior Court for their crimes. Most wind up in Family Court, which is focused on "rehabilitation." These juveniles do not need arts and crafts, as Pirro has said. They need iron bars. Unless Congress changes this appointment scheme, or unless the Supreme Court strikes it down, President Trump cannot rectify the situation even if vacancies arise. He will have to choose from a slate of atrocious candidates put forth by the leftists on this unconstitutional commission. The situation is reminiscent of the crisis in Israel, where the anti-Netanyahu Supreme Court appoints the majority of the judicial selection committee that then selects new justices when vacancies occur.RADICAL DC OFFICIALS TREATED OFFICERS LIKE CRAP, POLICE LEADER SAYS 7 ATTACKS THAT LED TO TRUMP TAKEOVERAnother massive problem involves the unconstitutional Home Rule Act of 1973, which gave the ultra-blue DC its own radical local government to oversee day-to-day affairs in our nations capital. For decades, local criminals and their enablers in the city government and on the courts have held hostage our nations capital with crime, homeless camps, chaos, and filth. By coddling real criminals and persecuting his political enemies, former President Biden took D.C. back to levels we have not experienced in decades. President Trump recently invoked Section 740 of this statute to federalize the D.C. police department. President Trump also controls the D.C. National Guard and is deployinghundreds into the city to restore order. This D.C. Home Rule Act of 1973 is a half-century-long national disaster. Congress must make its repeal a high priority, returning control of Washington to the American people, where it belongs under our constitution. This scenario is untenable. Washington voted so overwhelmingly against President Trump, all three times, that it would make despots like Kim Jong Un and the president of Iran blush about faking the inverse of these types of electoral numbers, but that is of no consequence. As President Trump has said, our capital is the image of our nation that other leaders see when they visit the White House. Many parts of the capital city look like third-world slums. Homeless encampments littered with drug needles, tattered cloth, and the rancid stench of fermenting feces defile the sidewalks and burn the human senses. Last year, the Supreme Court held in City of Grants Pass v. Johnson that cities can put a stop to these filthy encampments, and President Trump will take full advantage of that authority. Article II of the Constitution empowers the president to manage federal enclaves like D.C.; yet Congress has unconstitutionally delegated the Presidents Article II power to a woefully inept mayor and city council. For decades, incompetent fools littered the city council and mayorship, most notably former Mayor Marion Barry. After being convicted following his arrest in a narcotics sting operation in which he smoked crack, on video, with a prostitute, in a hotel room, D.C.s overwhelmingly Democrat voters re-elected Barry. One member of the City Council who was recently federally indicted for corruption just won re-election. Thats why President Trump shouldnt bow to these buffoons and has every right to declare a national emergency.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIOND.C. is a mass of suffering, no matter what the leftist reporters and other limousine liberals who live in Georgetown, the Palisades, or in Chevy Chase in wards 3 and 4 tell us. They are safe and secure in their small part of the city, or outside of it wholly. The rest of D.C.s residents are not so lucky. These innocent people suffer the daily consequences of the half-century-old Home Rule Act of 1973 and the law providing for the entrenchment of leftist judges who have transformed the criminal justice system into a revolving door for criminals.Democrats have no desire to change the status quo. They want to abolish the filibuster and make D.C. a state, knowing it would reliably elect two Democrats to the U.S. Senate and have sovereign protections from federal encroachment. Prominent Democratic strategist James Carville reiterated this goal just last week.Senate Republicans must wake up to the reality that the filibuster will survive only until the next Democrat trifecta. A preemptive strike now would lead to the passage of much quality legislation, including the repeal of laws that have turned our capital into a crime-infested, third-world Marxist hellhole.

Father of slain veteran says Bidens border policies emboldened cartels, Trump restoring order
The father of a former U.S. Marine killed by cartel gunmen in Mexico is praising President Trumps recent crackdown on organized crime. He also blames what he calls "failed border policies" under the Biden administration for enabling the violence that claimed his sons life.Nicholas Quets, a 31-year-old former Marine infantryman living in Tucson, Arizona, was in the process of applying to become a U.S. Border Patrol agent when he was killed on Oct. 18, while traveling along the Caborca-Altar Highway in northern Mexico. Nicholas encountered acartel roadblock of 11 heavily armed vehicles consisting of approximately 25 men.His father, Warren Quets, told Fox News Digital that the Sinaloa Cartel identified him as an American because of his license plate and the language he spoke."They chased him down like a dog and shot him, like the cowards they were," he said.TRUMP'S BORDER CRACKDOWN BRINGS 'POSITIVE SHIFT' TO ARIZONA COMMUNITIES AFTER YEARS OF UPHEAVALWarren noted that immigration policies under former President Biden were perceived as an "invitation" for those south of the U.S.-Mexico border. Those policies, combined with the exploitation of migrants by coyotes and cartel members, facilitated mass crossings over the last four years, Warren added."If they made it to the U.S. border, it would be a catch-and-release policy," he said.Fox News Digital reached out to representatives of Biden for comment, but did not immediately hear back.Warren also claimed that some NGOs and local agencies profited from the border crisis, including churches and organizations that received donations and government funding tied to migrant processing. In January, two shelters in Pima County, Arizona, where Nicholas had worked prior to his death, closed their doors, according to the Arizona Daily Star.Shelters and other organizations also closed in several other states, including Texas, California and New York.DHS VIDEO HONORS MARINE KILLED BY MEXICAN CARTEL, TOUTS TRUMP'S CRACKDOWN ON 'TERRORISTS'Warren told Fox News Digital that the U.S. must maintain constant pressure on "soulless" criminal organizations and support cultural change in Mexico, describing Americas southern neighbor as a "de facto failed state" where citizens lack faith in the government due to cartel infiltration. He stressed that while there is cause for hope under the new administration, it must be tied to continued, concrete action."There is a message that targeting U.S. citizens any place in the world is no longer acceptable and comes with consequences. President Trump, you know, he's directly responsible for sending that message, and that message is working," Warren said.U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks posted to X on August 1 that southwest border apprehensions hit a monthly record low in July, with only 4,399 apprehensions. For the third month in a row, there have been zero releases. This marks a new all-time record low, surpassing the prior record low of 6,070 in June.During the Biden administration, the record high was December 2023, with 249,785 apprehensions, the majority of which resulted in releases into the U.S. The nosedive in numbers is seen as a major victory by Republicans and the Trump administration.MEXICO TO EXTRADITE 26 TOP CARTEL LEADERS TO US IN TRUMP ADMINISTRATION DEALWarren also highlighted several other key victories, citing his sons passing as a strong motivator behind many actions taken against cartels by the current administration. For example, a June 9 press release from the Department of Treasury noted that Nicholas death was a driving force behind sanctions levied against "El Chapos" children and Los Chapitos, a fentanyl-trafficking faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. The tragedy has also influenced U.S. policy in other cases. In July, the Department of Homeland Security mentioned Nicholas while announcing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrest of Sinaloa Cartel affiliate Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.A Sunday report from The New York Times suggested that President Trump has secretly authorized military force against Latin American drug cartels. These groups, including the Sinaloa Cartel responsible for Nicholas death, were designated as foreign terrorist organizations in February. "[Trump has] been great to my family. He's kept in touch with us. His administration kept in touch with us. He's treated us like his family. And I think he would do that for anybody in this situation. I don't think it's particular to me. So, I'm grateful for that. You know, Nick will not die in vain because Nick is now the reason for many of these changes," Warren told Fox News Digital.

Key takeaways from Trump-Putin summit as meeting with Zelenskyy might be next
The highly anticipated summit in Alaska between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded with no concrete agreements, though both leaders praised the meeting as positive. In the joint press event Friday afternoon local time between Trump and Putin, the talks were described as "extremely productive" and "constructive" respectively, but neither leader would comment on what definitive progress was made.Trump said going into the talks that he would not be making any deal on Ukraine or address territorial concessions. Instead, he highlighted the need for a second meeting to include Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy which the Kremlin chief has thus far refused to do.TRUMP, PUTIN WRAP 'EXTREMELY PRODUCTIVE' SUMMIT BUT 'NOT THERE YET' ON ENDING WARNeither side announced Putins intention to meet with Zelenskyy during the press event though neither leader took any questions from reporters but in an interview with Fox News Sean Hannity following the summit, Trump suggested that such a meeting was on the horizon."A lot of points were agreed on," Trump said. "Theres one or two pretty significant items, but I think they can be reached."Now it's really up to President Zelenskyy to get it done. And I would also say the European nations, they have to get involved," he added. "And if they'd like, I'll be at that next meeting they're going to set up a meeting now between President Zelenskyy and President Putin and myself, I guess."Though the president also reiterated a point he made during the press conference with Putin when he said, "theres no deal until theres a deal."TRUMP, PUTIN SPEAK TO MEDIA AFTER ALASKA MEETING: 'THERE'S NO DEAL UNTIL THERE'S A DEAL'Trump wouldnt comment on what the issues were that he and Putin agreed on, nor the issues that remain controversial. The president said he would rate the conversation with Putin a "ten" out of ten, in regard to the apparent cordiality of the discussion in particular, he appreciated the Russian president's comments when he claimed he would not have invaded Ukraine had Trump won the 2020 presidency.Neither Putin nor Trump explained the Kremlin chief's reasoning behind these comments.Russian officials also praised the talks immediately following the summit, though it remains unclear how Zelenskyy or NATO allies will react to discussions, which Trump said he would relay to them immediately following the press event.Trump didnt discuss how his conversations went with Zelenskyy or other European leaders.Neither NATO nor Zelenskyys office immediately responded to Fox News Digitals questions about the call with Trump, or the apparent outcome of the meeting. Both Trump and Putin departed from Anchorage shortly after the summit wrapped.

Cigarette butts make roads stronger than ever before
Cigarette butts are the most littered item on the planet. People toss out an estimated 4.5 trillion cigarette butts each year, and that number may double by the end of 2025 as e-cigarette use grows. These small, toxic waste items pollute city streets, beaches and waterways. They also take years to break down. But that may be starting to change. Scientists have developed a way to recycle cigarette butts into asphalt, creating roads that are both stronger and more sustainable. Research teams from the University of Granada in Spain and the University of Bologna in Italy have studied the process closely, highlighting its potential to improve road performance while cutting down on waste.Sign up for my FREE CyberGuy ReportGet my best tech tips, urgent security alerts and exclusive deals delivered straight to your inbox. Some road-building materials already use cellulose fibers like those found in cigarette filters. That sparked the idea to take used butts, clean them up and put them to work.WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?E-cigarette filters are especially promising. They are longer and packed with fibers like cellulose and polylactic acid (PLA) fibers, making them ideal for reinforcing asphalt. The recycling process involves several steps:1. Collecting and sorting: Filters from traditional and e-cigarettes go through a collection and cleaning process. Ash and residue are removed, leaving behind usable fiber material.2. Shredding and mixing: Machines shred the cleaned fibers and combine them with synthetic hydrocarbon wax, which serves as a binder.3. Pellet formation: The blended material is pressed, heated and cut into small pellets that can be easily stored and transported.4. Asphalt integration: These pellets are added to reclaimed asphalt and bitumen. During heating, the pellets melt and release reinforcing fibers that strengthen the final asphalt mix.Up to 40% of the final road material can come from these recycled components.GET FOX BUSINESS ON THE GO BY CLICKING HERERecycled cigarette butts make asphalt stronger, more flexible and longer-lasting. The fibers released during mixing act as micro reinforcement, improving fatigue resistance and helping roads withstand heavy traffic and temperature changes. The wax in the pellets lowers the temperature needed to mix asphalt, reducing both energy use and emissions during production. Beyond performance, this method gives cigarette waste a second life. By repurposing billions of discarded filters, cities can reduce litter and pollution while building more sustainable infrastructure. This technique is still emerging, but interest is growing worldwide. In Bratislava, Slovakia, city officials have already started collecting cigarette butts specifically for road construction. One road built with this recycled asphalt is already in use, setting an example for other cities to follow. As more pilot projects roll out and awareness spreads, cigarette butts could shift from toxic litter to a valuable resource in sustainable infrastructure.Recycling cigarette butts into asphalt solves two problems at once. It clears toxic waste from public spaces and makes roads that last longer. This approach turns one of the worlds most common pollutants into a valuable construction material. As more cities explore cleaner, smarter infrastructure, this kind of solution could play a big role in the future of street design.Would you support roads built with recycled cigarette butts in your city? Stepdads unusual discipline for sons ok chill remark sparks viral debate
A fathers unconventional way of disciplining his young son has divided the internet after a home security camera captured the moment, and the parents decided to upload it online.Katie and Dustin Maletich are raising a blended family of four children. The parents were home with their 9-year-old son, Tommy, when he told his mother to "chill" a comment they say is out of character for the boy.Nearby, Dustin decided to step in immediately."It really was just an authentic moment," he explained on "Fox & Friends First" Thursday."I was in the other room and heard what I thought was a disrespectful comment to his mom, and we try to do consequences or correlated actions."GRANDMOTHER'S RESPONSE TO MOM 'GIVING IN' TO TODDLER AT DINNER SPARKS HEATED DEBATEIn the clip, Dustin can be seen calmly instructing Tommy to drop to the floor and do push-ups. After some hesitation, the boy does as requested and begins counting them off. After the exercise, Dustin and Tommy discussed what had happened and why his comment elicited such a response. Following the conversation, the two shared a hug, and Tommy apologized to his mother."When you demonstrate the inability to control your actions, I think a physical consequence not only fixes that, helps you regulate, but it also reaffirms that you are in control of your body, and you can control what you say and do. Even if you don't so much feel like it," Dustin said.TEXAS DAD SHOWS WHAT PRESENT FATHERHOOD LOOKS LIKE THROUGH VIRAL CHEERLEADING STUNTS WITH DAUGHTERKatie later checked the familys indoor security footage and realized the moment had been recorded."It was just such a tender, special moment to me. I wanted to keep it and save it. So, I checked the ring camera, and it was there," she said.At the time, their following was only a few thousand. Katie mainly meant for friends and family on social media to see the tender exchange, but the clip quickly went viral, drawing a torrent of praise and criticism from the public.MICHELLE OBAMA TELLS PARENTS THEY MUST GET TOUGHER ON KIDS' SOCIAL MEDIA USE DESPITE THE 'PAIN'Some online users supported the approach and applauded Dustin for standing up for his wife in their home. Others argued that linking exercise to punishment could create negative associations for physical activity later in life.Parenting expert and educational psychologist Dr. Michele Borba told Fox News Digital the discipline itself was "right on the mark," though she questioned the decision to share the video publicly.Posting the clip, she said, could be seen as an added layer of discipline or even public humiliation.Katie says she stands by their method and wanted other parents to see a different way of reprimanding children."I thought maybe if other parents could [see] how this unfolds in real time it could inspire [them] the way it inspired me," she said.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"I thought I want to share this, and hopefully it helps other parents come up with better solutions to losing it on their kids."

Illegal immigrants could dominate DC arrests under federalized police force, says expert
A large number of arrests by the newly federalized Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department will likely be illegal immigrants, one expert predicts. Some 29 of the 45 arrests that were announced by the Trump administration Wednesday were illegal immigrants. A day later, 15 of the 33 arrests were illegal immigrants, including a suspect from China."It will not be surprising to hear that a significant portion of arrests that occur under the federal intervention will be criminal aliens," Jessica Vaughan, director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, told Fox News Digital. "Washington, D.C., has long suffered from problems with street gangs that include or are majority illegal alien, in part because of sanctuary policies, but also because prior waves of illegal immigration have led to large Central American diasporas in the region."AG BONDI STRIPS POWER FROM DC POLICE CHIEF, RESCINDS SANCTUARY CITY PROTECTIONS IN CRIME CRACKDOWN OPERATION"Gangs like MS-13 and 18th Street like to set up shop in these areas, so they can recruit, extort, and intimidate the population. Any city that tolerates illegal immigration is going to have a problem with criminal aliens who know they will be shielded from immigration enforcement," Vaughan added. This week, Attorney General Pam Bondi scrapped sanctuary policies from the department as part of a move that would override city laws on the matter.CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMMIGRATION COVERAGEEarlier today, DC Police Chief Pamela Smith issued an order permitting some cooperation with federal immigration authorities, but stopped short of allowing cooperation for the sole purpose of immigration enforcement.DC TRAFFIC STOP REPORTING ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS A GREAT STEP,' TRUMP SAYS OTHER BLUE CITIES COULD BE NEXTThe short-lived Thursday order from Smith permitted officers to begin "sharing information about persons not in MPD custody" such as during "traffic stops" and to provide "transportation for federal immigration agency employees and detained subjects," according toNBC 4 Washington."This intervention by Trump is an opportunity for ICE to make up for years of being hindered by the DC government, and to clear out criminal aliens who have preyed on the law-abiding population of the city. The gangs and predators will no longer have the run of city parks and public spaces the way they have in the recent past, and the ones who are here illegally will be sent home instead of back to the streets," Vaughan continued.Since President Donald Trump announced the police takeover on Monday, several federal agencies, along with the National Guard, have been patrolling the streets of Washington, D.C., and they are visible at key locations throughout the capital.DC POLICE ANNOUNCE MAJOR ACTION ON IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT AFTER TRUMP'S CRIME CRACKDOWN"Under President Trump and [Homeland Security] Secretary [Kristi] Noems leadership, ICE law enforcement is being unleashed to keep America safe from dangerous criminals. Putin backs Trump's claim that the Ukraine war would not have happened if hed won 2020 election
Russian President Vladimir Putin said he agreed with Donald Trump's claim that the war in Ukraine would not have ever even begun if he had not lost the 2020 election and was serving as president when the carnage began, instead of former President Joe Biden. "I can confirm that," Putin said at the tail-end of a press conferece that took place Friday evening after the pair met for a summit at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.Trump made the assertion multiple times on the campaign trail, and continued saying it after he took back the White House. Trump has faced pushback on the claim, as well as on claims that Ukraine instigated the war's inception and the Biden administration failed to do things that could have thwarted it from beginning in the first place.TRUMP AND PUTINS RELATIONSHIP TURNS SOUR AS PRESIDENT PUSHES FOR RESOLUTION WITH UKRAINE"I'd like to add one more thing," Putin said, as the two heads of state provided remarks to the press, according to a translation of the Russian president's address. "I'd like to remind you that in 2022, during the last contact with a previous administration, I tried to convince my previous American colleague that the situation should not be brought to a point of no return when it would come to hostilities and I said it quite directly back then that it's a big mistake. Today, when President Trump is saying that if he was the president back then there would be no war I am quite sure that it would indeed be so. I can confirm that."Earlier in his address, Putin lamented that bilateral relations between the U.S. and Russia, prior to Trump, had "fallen to the lowest point since the Cold War," and highlighted the fact that there have been no summits between the U.S. and Russia over the last four years."That's not benefiting our counties and the world as a whole," Putin said, adding that it was "apparent that sooner or later [U.S. and Russia] had to amend the situation to move on from the confrontation to dialogue."MSNBC HOST EXPLODES LIVE ON AIR OVER PUTIN TALKS, RANTS TRUMP 'DOESN'T GIVE A S--- ABOUT DEMOCRACY'Meanwhile, Putin praised Trump for "his strive to get to the crux of the matter and to understand this history," referring to the backstory surrounding the war. He called the commitment "precious."The Russian president also remarked during his address that he hopes this new chapter of foreign diplomacy under Trump will "help us rebuild and foster mutually beneficial and equal ties at this new stage, even during the hardest conditions.""Overall, me and President Trump have built a very good business-like and trustworthy contact, and have every reason to believe that moving down this path we can come to the end of the conflict in Ukraine," Putin said Friday. The optics of Trump's meeting with Putin were slammed by critics, who compared the scene Friday to when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Trump at the White House. The infamous meeting saw Zelenskyy publicly argue back-and-forth with Trump and other top leaders in the administration, as President Trump criticized the Ukrainian president for his approach to ending the war.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"Biden couldve stopped it, Zelenskyy couldve stopped it, and Putin shouldve never started it," Trump said in April about the war in Ukraine.

'Biggest Loser' contestant claims she died while filming challenge as weight loss show reenters spotlight
A contestant on "The Biggest Loser" claims she died when she became unresponsive on the first episode of her season and had to be transported by a medical helicopter to a hospital.A three-part documentary, which premieres on Netflix Friday, covers the inception of the show and the successes contestants had, but also its controversies, like urging contestants to eat less than 1,000 calories a day to lose more weight and bizarre "temptation" challenges with rooms filled with food.In the trailer for the documentary, contestant Tracey Yukich admits that "being on the Biggest Loser is just like winning the lottery," but she later noted her "organs started shutting down" during the show."I dont remember a lot. I remember hearing the helicopter. I just felt like I was floating, and then my grandpa was there. And then I saw darkness. But then I saw light," Yukich said while being interviewed for the Netflix documentary "Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser." "So, I knew. I knew I died that day."BRITISH GOLFER CHARLEY HULL OPENS UP ABOUT SCARY FAINTING INCIDENT DURING MAJOR TOURNAMENTYukich, who was a contestant on Season 8 of the reality fitness show, had to run a mile on a beach along with all the other contestants for the first challenge of the show. They were told anyone who didnt finish would be eliminated. As she was running, Yukichs body began to shut down, and she fell to the ground, attempting to crawl toward the finish line. Eventually, her teammates carried her across the line in a show of camaraderie, but people quickly realized she was seriously ill."She collapsed right there on the other side of the finish line, and thats when I realized there was a real problem," "The Biggest Loser" host Alison Sweeney said.Fellow teammate Danny Cahill agreed, saying he "knew something more serious was happening because she was really not responding."When the helicopter came, we were all scared to death."WATCH: Former Biggest Loser contestant says despite suffering heat stroke on first day of the show, it was rewardingYukich said when she arrived at the hospital, a doctor told her if her legs didnt drain, theyd have to cut them open to drain them."I didnt realize that I had rhabdomyolysis, and rhabdomyolysis is your bodys way of saying Im going to shut down on you," Yukich said. "It started with my liver, then it went to my kidneys and then it goes to your heart. And thats where I almost died."When the shows medical advisor, Dr. Robert Huizenga, went to see her, he said she was "incredibly ill" and assumed she would go home."When I was beginning to wake up in the hospital, I felt dirty. I felt sandy. I could feel the grit in my fingernails," Yukich said. She said she couldnt even get out of bed to go to the bathroom.'AMERICAN IDOL' WINNER IAM TONGI REVEALS DRAMATIC 115-POUND WEIGHT LOSSHuizenga said he told Yukich she was getting better and that she would be going home, "and she was upset. She was angry. She didnt want to go home."Yukich explained she was in an unhealthy marriage, and infidelity was just a "snippet of it.""I thought it was my fault because I was fat," she said. "I knew I had to make some changes in my life in order to be the best version of what I wanted out of life. I dont want to be disrespected. I dont want to be yelled at. I dont want to be harmed. I dont want you to tell me what I can do and cant do. I had to put myself first to do that."Eventually, she decided to stay on the show."I needed to change my life," she said. "I just cheated death, completely cheated it. Didnt die. It's on."Yukich opened up to Fox News Digital about her experience this week."As you know, I had a heat stroke the first day I was there," she said. "I was hospitalized for shy of almost four weeks. So, I wasn't there to kind of make those connections with everyone else that they did in the beginning."LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? I wasn't able to do what everyone else was doing, and I really felt isolated when I was there."But she said the show was rewarding for her because she learned how to feed her body and even how to be a better mom."Things that I didn't realize made an impact on them as well because they told me, they're like, 'Mom, if you hadn't done that, we probably would have never learned some of the things that you did teach us about calorie counting and how to care for our bodies and how to exercise better," she said."So, my experience was extremely hard. It was very lonely. And I hated every day of it. But, at the same time, I wanted to be there. So, it's hard to explain that aspect of it, but that is the truth. I hated everything about it, but I wanted to be there."Cahill told Fox News Digital his experience was "good, bad, ugly, everything."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER"It was like life, you know," he explained. "Things come at you from different directions. You don't know exactly what you're going to get into. But I'll tell you what, I didn't know what I was going to get into because the workouts were the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Still to this day, I don't know how I did it."Still, he called it one of the "highlights" of his life.WATCH: Former Biggest Loser contestant says the show was real but didnt tell the whole storyYukich said it was a challenge trying to understand why her body "wasnt working.""Never been sick like that before," she said. "And realizing like, 'I'm a young woman.' I was only 38 at the time, and I had such an accident and something that almost ended my life. And I (was) constantly, every day trying to fight for my body to work so that I could stay there.""For me, I would say that what you saw on TV, it was real," Cahill told Fox News Digital. "It was reality. It was real, but there was a lot of drama and a lot of things that were left out."He said Yukich was misunderstood on the show because little was revealed about what she was going through health-wise.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"And those big weight loss weeks, you're not going to do that at home," he added. "So, you can't think that I'm going to do what they did on the "Biggest Loser." And then, you know, when I got home, I actually found that out. It's harder, especially when you have a job, and you've got kids and you've got all that. That six months and three weeks or however long it was that I was there, all of my priorities were me."You just don't get that in real life. But I will say this. The relationships that I formed on the show still thrive today, and I have a new family. And I wouldn't change a thing."Fox News Digital has reached out to NBC for comment."The Biggest Loser" ran for 18 seasons. "Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser" is streaming on Netflix now.
