Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene explains why she's 'extremely frustrated' with DC lawmakers
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is "extremely frustrated" by the "tone-deaf attitude" of D.C. lawmakers as Americans suffer, she indicated to Fox News Digital during a phone interview on Monday. The Georgia Republican a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, who has labeled herself "unapologetically and radically AMERICA FIRST" and "unapologetically America ONLY" in posts on X told the Daily Mail that she thinks the GOP "has turned its back on America First and the workers and just regular Americans."Speaking to Fox News Digital on Monday, Greene explained that she's frustrated by Congress. As the GOP controls the majority in both the House and Senate and the Sept. 30 government funding deadline approaches, Greene suggested that voting on a "Biden-budget" continuing resolution would represent "a complete failure."America's national debt is nearly $37 trillion, according to fiscaldata.treasury.gov, and Greene wants the U.S. to cut off all foreign aid, which she suggested is "more like a bribe" in the cases of many of the nations receiving it.MTG DECLARES SHE'S RADICALLY AMERICA FIRST,' TELLING THOSE WHO ARE NOT, YOU ARE THE ENEMYGreene said "funding foreign wars" is very "unpopular" among Americans, but expressed the belief that Trump, who is slated to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon, will be able to broker an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.The congresswoman also said she would support U.S. withdrawal from NATO.Greene is steamed that "Congress continues its same stupid behavior while most Americans" suffer, particularly younger people, she noted. The "tone-deaf attitude in Washington" makes her "extremely frustrated."Greene explained that her children, aged 22, 25 and 27, belong to the generation that will "pay the price" of "all the America-last stupidity" of elected officials over the decades.MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE RULES OUT 2026 BID FOR TOP GEORGIA POLITICAL POST: WE ALL KNOW I WOULD WIN"And I expect better from the Republican Party," she said, "because they said America First" while campaigning, "and they should stick to it."Greene said that she would support a balanced budget amendment.Asked whether she thinks there's any hope of achieving a balanced budget in the near future, Greene said that "if Republicans are serious about their campaign promises they should overwhelmingly support" balancing the budget.MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE SLAMS FDA GREEN LIGHTING OF MNEXSPIKE COVID-19 VACCINE: NOT MAHA AT ALL!!!Greene predicted that if GOP lawmakers do not fulfill their promises, many who voted for Republicans in 2024 will skip voting in the 2026 midterms.

Vladimir Putin to return to US for the first time in a decade
Russian President Vladimir Putin will return to the U.S. for the first time in a decade when he meets with President Donald Trump in Alaska on Friday.Following Trumps announcement last week that the pair would be meeting for an in-person summit marking the first time a U.S. president will meet with Putin after he invaded Ukraine in 2022, less than a year after he met with Biden in 2021 in Geneva several locations were suspected as being the most likely meeting places, including Hungary, Switzerland, Italy and the United Arab Emirates. It was reported that Putin shot down the idea of Italy, as it is seen as being favorable to Ukraine, and instead pushed for Hungary.TRUMP GOES AFTER ZELENSKYY OVER 'LAND SWAPPING' DISPUTE, LAYS OUT 'FEEL OUT MEETING' WITH PUTINHowever, Trump surprised the nation when he announced on Friday that Putin would instead be traveling to Alaska for his first U.S. trip since he attended the U.N. General Assembly in New York in 2015, when he met with then-President Barack Obama. On Monday, Trump said he thought it was "very respectful that the president of Russia is coming to our country as opposed to us going to his country or even a third-party place."It is unclear why a third-party nation like the UAE was not selected. Though the justification for why Hungary was not selected despite being led by Viktor Orbn who is friendly with both Putin and Trump could be because it is a member of NATO and would likely prove controversial should a NATO ally host the Kremlin chief at a time when Europe faces its greatest threat since World War II.Similarly, dubious optics could be attributed to not hosting the meeting in Switzerland, which, though not a NATO ally, is a member of the International Criminal Court which issued an arrest warrant for Putin in 2023 over accusations of war crimes."They probably avoided Europe, because if they included Europe, then Europe would have demanded that they're actually at the table," Dan Hoffman, former CIA Moscow Station chief, told Fox News Digital. "Probably your two choices were go to Russia which Trump would never do or invite him here."It also exposes the challenge that you can't solve this without Ukraine and without Europe," he added. While it remains unclear where exactly the pair will meet, or why Alaska was ultimately landed on, Alaskas senior Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski said it was "another opportunity for the Arctic to serve as a venue that brings together world leaders to forge meaningful agreements."EU HITS BACK AT TRUMP, ZELENSKYY COMMENTS, NO CONCESSIONS IN UKRAINE BEFORE PUTIN CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT"While I remain deeply wary of Putin and his regime, I hope these discussions lead to genuine progress and help end the war on equitable terms," she added, noting her concern when it comes to dealing with Putin.Russian officials appeared to take a more optimistic tone about the location of the meeting when Russias special economic envoy Kirill Dmitriev took to X to acknowledge the historical role Alaska has played in the Russia-U.S. relationship."Born as Russian America Orthodox roots, forts, fur trade Alaska echoes those ties and makes the U.S. an Arctic nation," Dmitriev said, later describing it as the "perfect stage" for the meeting.Hoffman argued that the location is not hugely significant and said, "What's going to matter is what they talk about. The details of the meeting more than the venue."No one can predict what's going to happen. I don't even think Trump or Putin knows what's going to result from this," he added, noting there were too many variables to start predicting or analyzing any element of the upcoming talks.Trump wouldnt detail what he specifically hopes to get out of the talks with Putin on Friday, though he argued hed be able to tell within the first "two minutes" whether a ceasefire deal in Ukraine was even possible."I'm not going to make a deal. It's not up to me to make a deal," he said. I think a deal should be made for both [Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy]."Id like to see a ceasefire. I'd like to see the best deal that could be made for both parties. You know, it takes two to tango," he added.Trump said he would relate the details of the conversation to both Zelenskyy and European leaders immediately following the meeting."We're going to see what he has in mind," Trump said of his upcoming meeting with the Kremlin chief. "And if it's a fair deal, I'll reveal it to the European Union leaders and to the NATO leaders, and also to President Zelenskyy I think out of respect I'll call him first."I may say, lots of luck, keep fighting or I may say, we can make a deal," Trump concluded.

Shohei Ohtani, agent accused of exploiting celebrity status to force partners out of $240 million realty deal
Shohei Ohtani and his agent were hit with a lawsuit by a real estate investor and broker in Hawaii, claiming they got them fired from a $240 million luxury housing development by using their celebrity status. The Los Angeles Dodgers' two-way superstar's agent is accused of increasingly demanding concessions from developer Kevin J. Hayes and real estate broker Tomoko Matsumoto and then demanding that their own business partner, Kingsbarn Realty Capital, drop them from the deal."[Nez] Balelo and Otani, who were brought into the venture solely for Otanis promotional and branding value, exploited their celebrity leverage to destabilize and ultimately dismantle Plaintiffs role in the project for no reason other than their own financial self-interest," the lawsuit said, via the Associated Press.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"This case is about abuse of power," the lawsuit continued. "Defendants used threats and baseless legal claims to force a business partner to betray its contractual obligations and strip Plaintiffs of the very project they conceived and built."Defendants must be held accountable for their actions, not shielded by fame or behind-the-scenes agents acting with impunity. Plaintiffs bring this suit to expose Defendants misconduct and to ensure that the rules of contract, fair dealing, and accountability apply equally to all celebrity or not."Ohtani and Balelo are accused of tortious interference and unjust enrichment, while also undermining their interests in another venture.Balelo's agency, CAA, declined to comment on the suit, according to the AP.HISTORIC FEMALE MLB UMPIRE JEN PAWOL'S DEBUT PERFORMANCE RESULTS BEHIND HOME PLATE ARE FINALLY INBalelo threatened to pull Ohtani from the deal if their own demands weren't met, the suit said."Kingsbarn began capitulating to Balelos every whim," the suit said. "Over time, it became increasingly obvious that Kingsbarn was more concerned about preserving its relationship with Otani than honoring its obligations to its business partners." Ohtani signed his endorsement deal with the developers in 2023.This is not the first time Ohtani has had off-field drama involving large sums of money. His former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, is serving a prison sentence for theft and fraud after stealing money from Ohtani to pay off gambling debts. The money delivered to bookies was from Ohtani's bank account.Ohtani just became the first person since 2018 to hit 40-plus home runs in three consecutive seasons, as he vies for a fourth MVP in the last five years for the NL West-leading Dodgers.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

CNN panel knocks national Democrats on 'tone-deaf' response to Trump DC crime plan
A CNN panel suggested on Monday that the Democratic Party's overall response to President Donald Trump's plan to reduce crime in Washington, D.C., might come across as tone-deaf, likening it to the Democratic Party's messaging on the economy during the Biden administration."Whats striking is that national Democrats are not following Mayor Bowsers lead on this, and that national Democrats have been insisting, Just look at the statistics, we have a 30-year low in violent crime. Whereas Mayor Bowser is talking about, Hey, we need to get 500 more police officers on the streets. We'd like the federal government to help us rebuild our jail," Axios reporter Alex Thompson said during a discussion on "The Arena with Kasie Hunt.""She's also talking about some of the reforms she did to make it so accused violent offenders dont get out of jail pretrial. So there is this disconnect, and Ive talked to Democrat strategists today that think that national Democrats saying, look at the statistics, is sort of a tone-deaf way to react," Thompson continued.Trump spoke to reporters on Monday about his plan, which was immediately dismissed by top Democrats, who argued that crime is at a 30-year low.TRUMP IS THREATENING TO 'FEDERALIZE' DC WITH NATIONAL GUARD AND MORE. HERE'S HOW THAT COULD PLAY OUTKristen Soltis Anderson, a CNN political commentator, pointed out that the Democratic Party's reliance on crime statistics mirrored its unsuccessful economic messaging during Joe Biden's presidency."Isn't this the exact same problem that Democrats had last year? Look at the statistics. We promise you the economy is great, while people are going, It doesn't feel great to me. That feels like a lot of this conversation around crime that you can point to statistics all day long that say, Hey, D.C. is safer this year than it was last year, but do people feel safe?" she observed."Bottom line, if they don't, they may be more okay with something that would otherwise be considered extraordinary," Anderson said.TOP HOUSE REPUBLICAN SAYS TRUMP 'RIGHTLY' TOOK OVER DC POLICE, DEMANDS BOWSER, OTHERS TESTIFY ON CRIMEFormer Republican lawmaker Peter Meijer chimed in, saying Mayor Muriel Bowser might know something about the possible manipulation of statistics at the D.C. police department."She may know some things that national Democrats are not paying attention to," Meijer said."It is also true, crime is one of these things where the randomness of it actually has a big psychological effect, right?" said Jamal Simmons, a former communications director for Kamala Harris. "When random crime happens along 14th street or one of the big thoroughfares here in the district, people get very animated about it."CNN host Kasie Hunt also pointed out that a D.C. murder victim Trump referenced during the press conference on Monday, former Trump administration official Mike Gill, who was killed during a carjacking in 2024, was one of her neighbors.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREHouse Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., reacted to Trump's announcement on social media."Violent crime in Washington, D.C. is at a thirty-year low. Donald Trump has no basis to take over the local police department. And zero credibility on the issue of law and order. Get lost," he said.

Researchers discover 2,500-year-old honey residue in ancient bronze jars
Researchers recently made a sticky discovery. They found 2,500-year-old honey, sealed in a vessel and buried underground for nearly three millennia. The residue was found in bronze jars at an underground shrine in Paestum, an ancient Greek settlement in modern-day Campania, Italy. The artifacts date back to the 6th century B.C.The jars were first found by archaeologists in 1954, but the residue in them has eluded experts until now.STUDENTS COOK ANCIENT RICE DISH BASED ON 2,000-YEAR-OLD MANUSCRIPT WITH SURPRISINGLY HEALTHY RESULTSIn a study published by the American Chemical Society on July 30, experts concluded that the waxy residue was once honey.Luciana Carvalho, a research associate at the University of Oxford, told Fox News Digital the substance bears little resemblance to the golden honey in most modern-day cupboards."Ancient honey was quite different from the clear, smooth honey we buy today," she noted."There was no ultrafiltration, no pasteurization and no synthetic pesticides in the landscape."HONEY AND ALLERGY RELIEF: DO THESE TWO REALLY GO TOGETHER?The chemical results "strongly" suggested that the jars held raw honeycomb, rather than a blended product like most modern honey."If honey had been mixed with milk, for example, we would expect to see extra fatty acids in the residue and we don't," she said. But the raw honeycomb has dramatically changed over the millennia.Along with fellow researchers Elisabete Pires and James McCullagh, Carvalho found that the sugar gradually became dark and acidic."[The] sugars slowly reacted with proteins in a kind of slow-motion browning process, similar to what happens when bread bakes, turning it darker and more acidic," she said.Because of that, the remaining residue isn't exactly pleasant to eat, according to the expert.RYE GRAIN FROM 1878 SHIPWRECK OPENS DOOR TO RARE WHISKEY REVIVAL EFFORTS"What survives now is a waxy residue with a slight tang and virtually no sweetness," Carvalho noted."After 2,500 years, almost all the original sugars have broken down [and been] eaten by microbes, so the residue isn't sweet anymore."As for the vessels, Carvalho said the bronze jars have cork discs that seal their necks, which points to "careful storage of something valuable."The copper-alloy jugs were found in a sealed, underground shrine, suggesting that they were left there as part of a ritual.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER"Inside, the residue clung to the bottoms and sides, exactly what you'd expect if raw honeycomb had been placed inside and slowly dried out over centuries," she said.Researchers in the 1980s previously believed that the honey was a mixture of wax, fat and resin, with Carvalho noting that past research was limited by less precise tools."Those methods were great for detecting fats and waxes but couldn't easily pick up sugars or proteins without extra chemical steps," she said. For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle"In our study we used multiple modern techniques designed to detect different types of molecules, including sugars and proteins, even if these are present at trace levels, with instruments far more sensitive than anything available in the 1980s."She also noted that the discovery had strong collaboration from multiple groups, including museum curators, conservators and specialized scientists."We hope our approach will now be used to identify honey residues in other museum collections so we can learn more about ancient beekeeping and the role of honey in diet, medicine and ritual life," Carvalho said. The latest research adds to a number of ancient food-related discoveries this year, which are extremely rare occurrences. In Guam, 3,500-year-old rice was recently found, making it the earliest known evidence of rice in Remote Oceania.Earlier in 2025, archaeologists uncovered a well-preserved loaf of ancient bread in Turkey, dating back to the Bronze Age.

State Department report condemns South Africa over 'extrajudicial killings' in annual human rights report
The U.S. State Department found that the human rights situation in South Africa has "significantly worsened" over the past year, citing reports of "extrajudicial killings" and repression against racial minorities. The State Department conducts an annual review of the human rights situations in countries across the globe, and it targeted South Africa with new criticism in the 2025 report released Tuesday. The report, scheduled to be sent to Congress on Tuesday, pointed to the U.S. receiving several reports of the South African "government or its agents" carrying out extrajudicial or arbitrary killings, as well as repression of Afrikaner minorities."In July the provincial police commissioner confirmed that as of April, police shot and killed at least 40 criminal suspects in shoot-outs. On September 2, police reported six suspects wanted for homicide and extortion were shot and killed by Durban police in a shoot-out. According to Reuters, eight of the police officers involved were placed on administrative leave with full pay pending investigation," the report said."Watchdog groups noted deaths in custody often resulted from physical abuse combined with a lack of subsequent medical treatment or neglect," it continued.TRUMP TO MEET LEADER OF OUT OF CONTROL' SOUTH AFRICA AT WHITE HOUSE"According to data compiled by Agence France-Presse, there were 447 murders on farms and smallholdings between October 2023 and September 2024. In recent years, extremist political party the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) encouraged attacks on Afrikaner farmers, reviving the use of the song "Kill the Boer [Farmer]" at its rallies and otherwise inciting violence," the report added. The State Department went on to criticize wider repression tactics against Afrikaners, citing The Expropriation Bill of 2024, in particular. The legislation allows the government to seize land without compensation in some circumstances.TRUMP RIPS NBC REPORTER FOR ASKING ABOUT QATARI JET GIFT AMID TENSE MEETING ON GENOCIDE: YOU'RE A DISGRACE'"This act could enable the government to seize ethnic minority Afrikaners agricultural property without compensation, following countless government policies designed to dismantle equal opportunity in employment, education, and business, and extreme rhetoric and government actions fueling disproportionate violence against racially disfavored landowners," the report said.President Donald Trump confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House during a state visit in May.Trump has claimed that White Afrikaner South African farmers are being slaughtered and forced off their land. The Afrikaners are descendants of mostly Dutch settlers who first arrived in South Africa in 1652."Now this is very bad. These are burial sites right here. Burial sites over a thousand of White farmers. And those cars are lined up to pay love on a Sunday morning. Each one of those white things you see is a cross. And there is approximately a thousand of them," Trump said at the time. "They're all White farmers. The family of White farmers. And those cars aren't, driving, they are stopped there to pay respects to their family member who was killed. And it's a terrible sight. I've never seen anything like it. On both sides of the road, you have crosses. Those people are all killed."South Africa denies claims of genocide and harassment, as does its president."I'm not going to be repeating what I've been saying," Ramaphosa said at the May visit. "I would say if there was Afrikaner farmer genocide, I can bet you these three gentlemen would not be here, including my Minister of Agriculture. He would not be with me."

Pentagon drawing up quick reaction force of National Guard ready to quell civil unrest at any moment: report
The Pentagon is reportedly drawing up plans for a "reaction force" of hundreds of National Guard members who would be ready to deploy at any moment to help quell civil unrest. The plan, reported by the Washington Post, for a"Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force" calls for 600 troops on standby at all times, ready to deploy in as little as one hour, The troops would reportedly be split into two groups of 300, stationed at military bases in Alabama and Arizona. The documents, reportedly prepared for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth by policy chief Elbridge Colby, outline a "predecisional" idea."The Department of Defense is a planning organization and routinely reviews how the department would respond to a variety of contingencies across the globe," a defense official told Fox News Digital. " We will not discuss these plans through leaked documents, pre-decisional or otherwise."DEFENSE SECRETARY PETE HEGSETH VOWS TO BE 'FORCE MULTIPLIERS' OF DC POLICETrump has already deployed the military for domestic purposes, first in Los Angeles in June, sending 5,000 National Guard members and Marines to tamp down anti-immigration enforcement riots. On Monday, he deployed 800 D.C. National Guard troops to support law enforcement in Washington, D.C., in cracking down on violent crime. The administration has also sent thousands of troops to the southern border in a show of force to discourage illegal immigration. The administration would rely on Title 32, a status in which the National Guard operates under the command of a state governor but is funded by the federal government, according to the Post. The authority is typically used for domestic missions, such as responding to natural disasters. When deployed under Title 32, Guard members may be granted limited law enforcement powers. A section of the U.S. Code allows the commander in chief to bypass certain restrictions on using the military for domestic purposes.TROOPS AT THE BORDER: HOW THE MILITARYS ROLE IN IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT HAS EXPLODED UNDER TRUMPThe troops, from the Army and Air Force National Guard, would be outfitted with weapons and riot gear and receive training for the mission. The quick reaction teams would work on 90-day rotations to "limit burnout."The documents also laid out potential negative implications of the idea: questions about appropriate civil-military balance and legal considerations, budget and logistical constraints, and reduced availability for local emergency missions. The National Guard first tested the concept of a reaction force ahead of the 2020 election, when 60 troops in Arizona and Alabama were told to be on alert and ready to deploy to respond to political violence. The Guard deployed to numerous locations to respond to protests in the wake of George Floyd's death.
