Trump accuses Senate Democrats of using nominee confirmations as leverage for funding deals
President Donald Trump alleged that Senate Democrats are possibly delaying his nominees in exchange for money in a heated post on Truth Social Sunday night. In the post, Trump accused Senate Democrats, led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., of slowing down the confirmations of more than 150 executive nominees."Democrats, lead[sic] by Cryin Chuck Schumer, are slow walking my Nominees, more than 150 of them. They wanted us to pay, originally, two billion dollars for approvals. The Dems are CRAZED LUNATICS!!!" the post read.He implied that Democrats were leveraging the process to extract funding agreements a tactic his associates have described as "political extortion."DEMS DIG IN, TRUMP DEMANDS ALL: NOMINEE FIGHT BOILS OVER IN SENATE AS GOP LOOKS FOR A DEALSenate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., met with Schumer recently to discuss an offer during ongoing negotiations, but they have not readdressed it directly since choosing to communicate through intermediaries, according to Thune. While Trump has urged the Senate to make quick moves, Democrats continue to block more nominees than normal."I think theyre desperately in need of change," Thune said of Senate rules Saturday after negotiations with Schumer and Trump broke down. "I think that the last six months have demonstrated that this process, nominations is broken. And so I expect there will be some good robust conversations about that."Historically, nominees have been confirmed unanimously or by voice vote quickly, but Senate Dems have been reportedly forcing roll-call votes on many of the current nominees.SENATE GOP EYES RULES REVOLT AS DEMS STONEWALL TRUMP NOMINEESThune told Fox News Digital that not much headway was being made as "the Dems are dug in on a position that's just not working."Senate Republicans want to strike a deal that would send nominees with bipartisan support through committee to lightning-fast votes on the floor, but Schumer has not relented.Trumps claims come after the Senate left Saturday for a month-long August recess without coming to a deal on advancing dozens of nominees, which prompted him to post on Truth Social that Schumer could "GO TO HELL."Fox News Digital's Alex Miller contributed to this report.

Armed robbers target bar hoppers in ritzy blue city neighborhood: Held the gun to my head
Police in Chicago, Illinois, are urging residents to be cautious after a slew of violent robberies targeting mainly drunk individuals in the city's River North neighborhood.According to FOX 32, at least four incidents have taken place between June 16 and July 6, with one to three African American males beating and robbing people. The men befriended people who appeared to be intoxicated before stealing their property and beating them, police said. The robberies occurred during the early morning hours when bars and restaurants were closing. One of the individuals robbed, Tori Ledzema, told FOX 32 she was forcibly pushed to the ground by four individuals in ski masks while she was headed to Pilates at 5:30 a.m. She said the men attempted to gain access to her phone.CINCINNATI BUSINESS OWNERS SLAM VIRAL 'OUT OF CONTROL' BEATING AMID FIGHT TO CLEAN UP DOWNTOWNLedzema said she had a gun aimed at her head during the robbery and suffered a sprained neck."He threw me to the ground. Later found out I sprained my neck from this impact. But the four of them pulled me back up, and they held the gun to my head," Ledzema said. "There were three guns. They held one to me and then one in either direction of traffic. Not that there really was traffic, and then the driver stayed in the car. But they held the gun to my head and asked me for my password, and then I later found out that this group was looking for people's Cash App. Which is one of the other things they asked me for."Police tracked down the car used by the suspects and got fingerprints. No arrests have been made.CHICAGO'S BLOODY JULY FOURTH WEEKEND LEAVES 55 SHOT, 6 DEAD: REPORTFormer FBI special agent Jonathan Gilliam told Fox News Digital in an interview that the suspects wanted one thing: access to the victim's phone."But this is what it really all comes down to, is the phones. We do most of our banking on the phones, people don't carry as much cash anymore," Gilliam said. "So what they're doing, and in particular, this is where it has evolved, in particular the female that was going to Pilates. They were asking for her Cash App. They wanted to get in her Cash App and get money that way. So this is something that people have to understand is that they may not be going after cash. They may be going after your apps and how to get into your apps.""If they can hold the phone up to your face, if they can beat you until you give them passcodes, they will go in and transfer money," he said.

The best secret weapons to prevent and overcome jetlag from travel, says doctor
As many travelers return from trips with souvenirs of their adventures, some also bring back an unwelcome case of jetlag.Jetlag is a sleep disorder caused by traveling across different time zones in both international and domestic travel.Flying can take a toll on the body, including dehydration, leg swelling and jetlag in many cases, according to Brunilda Nazario, M.D., WebMD's chief physician editor of medical affairs."Jet lag, a very common symptom of longer travel, is much more than just several days of excessive sleepiness or insomnia," said Nazario.ALZHEIMER'S RISK COULD RISE WITH SPECIFIC SLEEP PATTERN, EXPERTS WARNLong periods of sitting on a plane and lack of oxygen and decreased air pressure in the airplane cabin can contribute to the issue, according to Cleveland Clinic.Jetlag disrupts our internal clock and its relationship with the outside world, said Nazario."In our external world, the cycle of daylight and darkness helps influence sleep patterns through melatonin. Jetlagalso affects other circadian rhythms," said Nazario."Our internal clock also helps regulate the release of daily or monthly hormones, like growth hormone and hormones of the menstrual cycle."The hormones also help regulate our appetite and digestive hormones, as well as the bodys temperature fluctuations, she said.Flying from the West Coast to the East Coast can mess up the body's biological internal clock, leading to a mismatch of various symptoms. For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle"Flying east requires you to advance your internal clock, while flying west means having to manipulate your internal clock to delay it," said Nazario.Symptoms of jetlag includeproblems with focus, coordination and drowsiness. If a person is consistently traveling across time zones, it can lead to longer-term health problems, even increasing the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, mood disorders and obesity. There are ways to prevent or lessen the impacts of jetlag, said Nazario."One common way to help prevent jetlagis to adjust your routine a few days before traveling by advancing or delaying your daily routine, depending on the direction of your travel," she said.Nazario suggested going to sleep earlier or later to help realign the timing of sleep and internal clocks.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERWhile booking flights, opting for short stop-over connecting flights can help the body adjust to the changes youll experience at the destination, including sleep quality and alertness, she said.Medications like over-the-counter sleep aids or prescription muscle relaxants can induce sleep, while caffeine can help combat daytime sleepiness. One hack Nazario shared that may help some flight passengers sleep is melatonin."Melatonin has sleep-inducing effects. It's known as the darkness hormone because exposure to light shuts it down. Sleep masks can be a simple way to block light," she said."The best sleep comes when the timing of your sleep is synced with the release of melatonin," said Nazario. "Melatonin supplements can help reset your body clock."Anyone considering taking the supplements should first consult with a doctor or medical professional about approved products and proper dosing, experts advise. While melatonin is generally considered safe in the short term, it may interfere with certain medications, so caution is best.

Meghan Markle in talks with Netflix after reputation nosedive leaves her future dubious: experts
As Meghan Markle celebrates her 44th birthday, many royal watchers are wondering what the future holds for her.Several royal experts claimed to Fox News Digital that the Duchess of Sussex is quietly in talks with Netflix to extend her partnership with the streaming giant. The company is a partner of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which launched in February. Her lifestyle series, "With Love, Meghan," which highlights some of her products, became available for streaming in March."Much depends on what it is, if Prince Harry is involved and, if so, in what way," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Fox News Digital. "Her critically panned lifestyle series was watched by over 5 million people, so there may be a third season."MEGHAN MARKLE, PRINCE HARRY FACE PITIFUL PLUMMET IN POPULARITY AS THEY REPORTEDLY LOSE NETFLIX DEAL: EXPERT"Since Harry is reportedly offering to share his official diary of engagements with the royal family, hes clearly bent on some form of reconciliation with his father, at least," Fitzwilliams shared. "[There may be] a very different approach from Harry and Meghan."Experts recently told Fox News Digital the Duke and Duchess of Sussexs five-year $100 million Netflix deal will likely expire in September. While season two of "With Love, Meghan" has already been filmed and is scheduled to premiere this fall, the possibility of a third season remains unknown. The royal couple signed the Netflix deal in 2020, shortly after they stepped down as senior royals and left the U.K.Fox News Digital reached out to Netflix and a spokesperson for Archewell, which handles the offices of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for comment.A Hollywood insider previously confirmed to People magazine the couples multi-year production agreement wont be extended, reflecting a broader shift in Netflixs business strategy. The outlet revealed that Netflix has been moving away from large, multi-project agreements. It pointed out that former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obamas initial multi-year deal with their production company, Higher Ground, transitioned into a "first-look agreement." If Netflix passes on a specific project, it can be shopped elsewhere.Still, the outlet noted this doesnt rule out new seasons of Meghan's show being filmed or new collaborations being created.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER"[Netflix is] not unhappy with how things turned out," a source told The Sun.The U.K.s Daily Mail also reported that the mother of two is locked in negotiations with Netflix."Make no mistake, a deal is being worked through as we speak," sources close to Netflix told the outlet. "If youre in the top third of Netflix, youre getting another deal.""What happens at the end of the contract is that people renegotiate," another source told the outlet. "But when doing any kind of commercial negotiation, both sides are not allowed to talk about it."British royals expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital the former American actress will need to drive a hard bargain to strike up a different kind of deal for herself.WATCH: MEGHAN MARKLE WILL NEVER WIN OVER UK PUBLIC AGAIN, AUTHOR CLAIMS"Meghan Markles future is dubious," Fordwich claimed. "The contract conclusion is a public setback and humiliation. Its tangible proof of her plummeting popularity and lack of public interest. [And] Netflix has a really good gauge of what the public wants to view.""I have heard speculation regarding her trying to secure new partnerships," Fordwich shared. "[But] I simply cant see others wanting to risk being associated with her track record."British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard told Fox News Digital there are whispers Meghan is working on an agreement with Netflix or "possibly a first-rights agreement.""Meghan has taken a reputation nosedive," said Chard, noting she needs "a reputation boost within the court of public opinion.""This will bring her brownie points and financial prizes," said Chard. "Meghan will continue to hustle her wares and beaver away until she builds her empire."Fitzwilliams pointed out that, in the U.K., "Meghan scores appallingly low in the polls, as does Harry."LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSThe couples debut docuseries, "Harry & Meghan," in which they spoke about their struggles with royal life, remains the platforms most-watched debut. However, their other programming, such as "Heart of Invictus" and "Polo," havent fared as well.Doug Eldridge, a branding expert and the founder of Achilles PR, told Fox News Digital it would make sense for Meghan to be in negotiations."She never cracked the top 300 of the most-watched titles in the first half of 2025, so taking a haircut on the re-up would make sense from Netflixs point of view," Eldridge warned."That said, since the streaming giant has an equity stake in Meghans retail success, they are equally incentivized to extend their exposure through their platform as it directly translates to commercial success," he explained."Their feet aren't taped to the pedals at this point, but you know how that process works: If you stop pedaling, you tip over. Both parties would be wise to do a series of one-year extensions, until the speed' slows and the front wheel starts to wobble. At that point, Meghan should be able to coast on her own in a commercial sense."Eldridge predicts Meghan will prioritize expanding her lifestyle brand, with or without Netflixs help."For the first time, Meghan has a map and a clean windshield," he said. "In other words, she has a sense of direction a clear path in front of her and the ability to get there."Just steer clear of the rumble strips (royal family drama) and don't get distracted by other drivers (competitors) or the ones who are pulled over on the shoulder (critics). Stay in your lane, set the cruise control and make good time. You'll get there if you choose to do so."Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner also agreed that Meghan will continue focusing on her latest role of entrepreneur."Unshackled from royal constraints, Meghan survives to thrive," he said. "Her ever-faithful husband will always be her strongest ally by her side."Chard also noted that Netflix may not want to give up the Sussexes at least Meghan so easily."Understandably, Netflix would rather hang on to Meghan, and its not because of her lifestyle show," she explained. "Her series may be a loss. However, they can see cash bells ringing going forward. They are invested in her product line. It also wouldnt be a good look for Netflix to drop her. Whod want egg on their face after investing a significant amount of cash?MEGHAN MARKLES NEW AS EVER PRODUCT LAUNCH IS DRIVEN BY DESIRE FOR FAME AND FORTUNE: EXPERTS"They are aware that more products can be rolled out," Chard continued. "If you look at the success of wine product lines launched by celebrities, the As Ever wine alone could be Meghans success story. A concentrated effort to flip Meghans appeal and reputation is key to the luxurious lifestyle she covets. Lets face it, other streaming platforms would jump into Netflix's shoes for the exclusive rights."But not everyone is convinced."I have heardspeculation regarding her trying to secure new partnerships for reality TV, daytime talk or, perhaps remarkably, a pivot to fashion or other product lines," said Fordwich. "This seems rather far-fetched, though."Nevertheless, we can anticipate she wont ever stop wanting to have the spotlight on herself. So, seeking new media vehicles or influencer roles in an attempt to maintain relevance will likely continue."Meghan told People magazine in March shes open to what the future has in store for her, both personally and professionally."Can you imagine? This is just the beginning," she said. "Life is full of surprises."

Dolly Parton altered Playboy bunny outfit for magazine cover to respect religious fans: author
Dolly Parton has always cared about her fans.In 1978, that meant requesting a special costume for her iconic Playboy photo shoot that wouldn't offend the more religious members of her fanbase.Lawrence Grobel, famed celebrity interviewer, was the journalist who spoke to Parton for the intimate, wide-ranging interview, and in diary entries he wrote at the time, which were recently shared with Vanity Fair, he explained her and her team's thought process behind agreeing to the Playboy interview in the first place.DOLLY PARTON ON NEVER RETIRING AND THE FAITH THAT HELPED HER THROUGH HER HUSBAND'S DEATH"Her manager, Sandy Gallin, told her that Playboy is the classiest magazine to do an interview," he wrote. "But there are some Bible-totin folks who are her fans and that concerns her. Shell pose for the cover if the bunny costume can be altered so the crotch can be lowered and she doesnt reveal too much boob."Fox News Digital reached out to Parton's representative for comment. In the actual 1978 interview, Parton said that when it came to posing for the cover, "I was afraid at first, when we talked about it. I didnt want to be naked or something on the front of a magazine unless everybody knew it was a joke."She continued, "I mean, I wouldnt want to be naked even then. It might not offend me, but I was afraid maybe a lot of my country fans and some of the people who love me who are of a religious nature might not understand."The "I Will Always Love You" singer acknowledged that people would "make jokes and things, not because of my beauty but just because of that physical thing thats built around my boobs," and she said that made her question doing the shoot."Then I thought, it isnt something I should be ashamed of," she said. "Playboys a real classy magazine. And I mean, who else but Dolly Parton should be on the cover of Playboy? If you wanted an outrageous person to be an outrageous magazine cover, who else? I just hope people will take it in the spirit in which I did ityou know, something cute and off-the-wall for me."LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSIn his diary, Grobel described Parton as "funny, charming, disarming," and wrote that it was "easy to talk to her," but "difficult to interrupt." He also wrote that she "has no trouble talking about anything, though when I asked her how old she was when she lost her virginity, she said if she told me, people would think she was perverted."The writer noted in another entry after another conversation with her: "Of all the stars Ive met, shes the most naturally flirtatious."In 2024, Parton spoke about her Playboy cover, telling Business Insider that while she was "comfortable" with the photo shoot she did, "I was not going to do any of the layouts, the nudity and all that."DOLLY PARTON UNABLE TO WRITE NEW SONGS AFTER LOSING HUSBAND OF NEARLY 60 YEARSShe explained, "I always have to feel in my gut what I can and can't do, what I will and won't do. And I was never going to do the spreads, if you pardon the expression."Parton said at one point that she wanted to do another Playboy cover when she was 75. (The country legend celebrated that birthday in 2021.) By that time, the magazine had already gone out of print, but she kept true to her word, putting a similar black bunny costume on and sharing her look in a video she posted on Instagram. The specific reason that she shared in the video was to celebrate the birthday of her longtime husband, Carl Dean, who passed away earlier this year."I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy," Parton told her followers at the time. "He still thinks I'm a hot chick after 57 years and I'm not gonna try to talk him out of that."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERShe added that he'd "always loved" the original 1978 cover, and in addition to wearing the costume for him in person, she did a special photo shoot for him, even gifting him a photo frame holding both the original cover and a new photo of her in the iconic black corset with matching black rabbit ears.Though she said Dean still thought she was a "hot chick" then, she told Playboy in 1978 that she'd never seen herself that way."I never thought of myself as being a sex symbol," she said then. "It never crossed my mind that anybody might think I was sexy."She said she didn't want the "responsibility" of being sexy, and explained that while she does enjoy her "gaudy" looks, she doesn't find them sexy. If she were actually trying to look that way, she explained, she'd make different choices."But why bother?" Parton asked. "Im already married and he dont mind how I look. He likes me gaudy or ungaudy."

DOUG SCHOEN: Why AOC could take the White House in 2028 and Kamala Harris won't
When former Vice President Kamala Harris announced that she would not be running for California governor, she appeared to leave the door open to another shot at the White House in 2028.However, the real Democratic contender to watch is not Harris.Rather implausible as it may seem to some New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appears to be the front-runner for Democrats 2028 presidential nomination, should she forgo a Senate campaign, which she would almost certainly win.NO ONE EXCITED ABOUT KAMALA HARRIS POTENTIAL GUBERNATORIAL RUN, SAY CALIFORNIA DONORSPut another way, right now, Kamala Harris will likely not be president in 2028, but AOC could very well be the Democratic nominee, with a shot at the White House.I say this for multiple reasons.First, it could be argued that AOC is even stronger than other presidential candidates at this moment in their careers or respective races.CALIFORNIA DEM DOUBTS SOMEONE FROM THEIR STATE COULD WIN PRESIDENCY SINCE THEY'RE THOUGHT OF AS 'CRAZY PEOPLE'At this point in the 2008 election cycle coinciding with the summer of 2005 Barack Obama was not even considered enough of a serious candidate to be included in polls.Likewise, in the 2020 primary which Harris was forced to withdraw from before a single vote was even cast Harris highwater mark in polling two years out was 7% in an Axios poll. That was good for 5th place, trailing former President Biden by 15-points, and even Oprah Winfrey by 9-points.Conversely, Ocasio-Cortez is already a top finisher in 2028 Democratic primary polls.21 DEMOCRATS WHO MAY TRY TO SUCCEED TRUMP IN THE 2028 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONPer Race to the White House polling aggregator, AOC (10%) ranks 3rd, behind former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Gov. Gavin Newsom (13% each) a virtual tie when Harris is not included. And when polls with Harris are included, the former VP (21%) is well below even a 30% barrier, having seen her support drop 14-points since January, whereas AOCs has risen by 9-points.Still, in individual polls where Harris and AOC are tested together, AOC held a four-point lead over the former VP (19% to 15%), according to AtlasIntel polling.Similarly, political betting sites such as Polymarket show Ocasio-Cortez with the 2nd best odds, trailing Newsom by just four points (20% to 16%). Harris is in 5th with just 6%.LESS THAN 4 MONTHS INTO TRUMP'S 2ND TERM, DEMS ARE ALREADY EYEING THE 2028 RACEAdditionally, AOCs favorability (46%) ranks higher than President Trump (44%), as well as Vice President JD Vance and former Vice President Kamala Harris (42% each), per AtlasIntel. There also may be reason to believe that AOC could do as well in a general election as Newsom or Buttigieg. In a series of hypothetical 2028 matchups pitting Vance against top Democrats, Vances three-point lead over AOC (44% to 41%) is virtually identical to his lead over Newsom (45% to 42%) and over Pete Buttigieg (44% to 43%), per Emerson.Notably, Harris was not even tested in the Emerson poll.AOCS CONSTITUENTS WEIGH IN ON PRESIDENTIAL RUN, RECALL HER STUNNING 2018 POLITICAL UPSETBehind Ocasio-Cortezs strong polling numbers are her dominant fundraising and convening abilities, especially her ability to generate enthusiasm.Recently, the Wall Street Journal reported that AOC raised more than $15 million in 2025 almost double Speaker Mike Johnson, with 99% coming from small dollar donors. To Harris credit, the former VP raised a historic amount of money during the 2024 campaign, but having failed at generating enthusiasm, donor fatigue is already evident.Even prior to Harris recent announcement, reports had mentioned the "lack of enthusiasm" among big donors for a second presidential bid an ominous sign before a candidacy is even announced.CROCKETT CRITICIZES AOC AND BERNIE SANDERS' 'FIGHTING OLIGARCHY' TOUR FOR MAKING IT ABOUT THEMSELVESOn the other hand, Ocasio-Cortez is currently among the strongest if not the strongest drawer of crowds of any Democrat, reflecting her ability to generate levels of enthusiasm Harris simply could not.AOCs nationwide rallies with fellow progressive Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, have drawn tens of thousands of voters, including more than 30,000 in Los Angeles and Denver. Moreover, AOC has drawn considerably larger crowds even in traditionally Republican areas. In Idaho and Montana, 12,500 and 9,000 people, respectively, filled stadiums to hear the New York representative.AOC is also drawing these crowds in a year when there are no elections, an impressive feat.AOC BROKE HOUSE RULES TO ATTEND RITZY MET GALA IN 'TAX THE RICH' DRESS, ORDERED TO PAY UPTo be sure, there are legitimate doubts as to whether or not Ocasio-Cortez would be a viable candidate. She will turn 39 years old just weeks before the 2028 election, and her far-left ideology may be less attractive in a general election. And yet, in terms of winning a Democratic primary, history and current polling suggest that AOC may well be a formidable candidate for whichever position she chooses.Candidates without high national profiles have frequently emerged from Democratic primaries, including George McGovern, as well as former Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.Further, concerns that AOC is too far to the political left may actually help her in a primary where the electorate tends to be dominated by the left. Not to mention that a considerable number of moderate Democrats will likely rally around the eventual nominee, regardless of who wins.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONOn the contrary, Harris struggled with voters both on the left and in the middle and has shown no reason to believe a 2028 run would address those problems. One way for AOC to mitigate age and electability concerns would be to challenge Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in the upcoming midterms, a race AOC would likely win.A poll conducted earlier this spring showed AOC leading Schumer by almost 20-points (55% to 36%), and Democrats would likely be encouraged by the idea of having a younger candidate than the 74-year-old incumbent.Ultimately, whether or not Ocasio-Cortez can sustain this momentum remains to be seen.Nevertheless, right now, the path to the Democratic presidential nomination is significantly more open to AOC than other candidates, particularly Kamala Harris.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM DOUG SCHOEN

Republican Dooley jumps into Georgia's Senate race while touting support for Trump and taking aim at Ossoff
There's a new Republican candidate jumping into one of the most crucial Senate races in the 2026 midterm elections.Former longtime football coach Derek Dooley highlighted his outsider credentials, took aim at Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff of Georgia, and showcased his support for President Donald Trump as he declared his candidacy on Monday."Im running because our state needs new leadership in Washington D.C., and professional politicians like Jon Ossoff are the problem," Dooley said in a statement and video as he launched his campaign.Dooley argued that "our state doesnt have a voice in the U.S. Senate who reflects Georgia values because Ossoff is more concerned with protecting his own political future, opposing everything the Trump administration is working to accomplish, and repeatedly voting with the extreme left."TRUMP HOUSE ALLY REP. MIKE COLLINS JUMPS INTO BATTLEGROUND GEORGIA'S SENATE RACEAnd he pledged that if elected to the Senate, "Ill work with President Trump to implement his agenda, support his Administration, and move our country forward."POPULAR GOP GOVERNOR PASSES ON SENATE BID IN 2026The Senate race in Georgia is crucial for Republicans aiming to expand their current 53-47 Senate majority, as they view Ossoff, who is running for re-election in a battleground state that Trump narrowly carried in last year's presidential contest, as the most vulnerable Democrat on the ballot in next year's midterms.Dooley, who is the son of the late, legendary University of Georgia football coach Vince Dooley, was a college football player who later served as a head coach at Louisiana Tech University and the University of Tennessee as well as an assistant coach in the National Football League. While this is his first run for public office, Republican sources confirm to Fox News that he's expected to have the endorsement of Gov. Brian Kemp, Georgia's popular two-term conservative Republican governor.Dooley becomes the third major Republican candidate currently in Georgia's Senate race.Two-term Rep. Mike Collins, a businessman who founded a trucking company who represents a large swath of urban, suburban, and rural areas between Atlanta and Augusta, announced his candidacy a week ago. Collins, a Trump ally and supporter in the House, showcased his support for the president in his campaign launch. And Rep. Buddy Carter, who for a decade has represented a district in coastal Georgia, launched a Senate campaign in the spring. He is also courting the president's support.Dooley appeared to take a jab at his two rivals for the nomination, saying "Im not part of the political establishment, and I havent spent my life climbing the D.C. political ladder."He pledged that he's "running to put Georgia First and bring common sense to D.C. Georgians know biological men shouldnt be playing in womens sports, hardworking people should keep more of their money, and opening our borders makes us less safe."Dooley is a longtime friend of Kemp, and two of the governor's top political advisers are helping Dooley with his Senate run.The term-limited Kemp, who was heavily recruited by national Republicans to take on Ossoff but who earlier this year passed on launching his own Senate campaign in 2026, has made it clear in recent days that he would be backing Dooley, sources familiar confirmed to Fox News.Meanwhile, sources in Trump's political orbit and Republican sources in Georgia confirmed to Fox News that there was an agreement between the presidents political operation and Kemps political team that they would work together to find a candidate that they could all unify behind to take on Ossoff in the Senate race. Those sources also confirmed that Kemp and Trump the ultimate kingmaker in GOP politics met last month to discuss the Senate race in Georgia.TRUMP TEAM PISSED OFF WITH REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR IN KEY BATTLEGROUND STATE SENATE NOMINATION RACEBut when the governor floated the name of former University of Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley, a source close to the president's political team said "they were told to stand down, because Trumps team wasnt ready to move forward on anybody."And when Kemp and his team did move forward with Dooley, it upset Trumps advisers, who, according to sources, were "already pretty annoyed" that Kemp had passed earlier this year on taking on Ossoff in the Senate race."We had a deal to work together,"a top political source in the Trump orbit told Fox News recently."Kemp went out on his own which has frustrated and pissed off Trump orbit."But a source close to the governor told Fox News that it's factually not true that they were told to stand down on Dooley. And the source added that Kemp meant what he said that he wants to work with the president and his team and remains that way.

The Feds foolish interest rate policy is stopping Americas economy from booming
The Federal ReserveannouncedWednesday, July 30, that it is leaving its benchmark interest rate unchanged, at a range of 4.25% to 4.5%. The decision isextremely foolish.By keeping rates at a comparatively high level, relative to the average rate over the past two decades, the Fed is unnecessarily suppressing economic growth and making it harder for consumers and businesses to finance debt. Moreover, the unemployment rate rose in July to 4.2%, marking an uptick from June and underscoring that the labor market is cooling, and the economy is in need of support. The federal funds rate the interest rate at which depository institutions lend reserve balances to each other overnight is a powerful tool used by the Federal Reserve to influence U.S. economic activity. Changes to this rate ripple throughout the economy, affecting borrowing costs, consumer behavior, and, ultimately, the broader business cycle.BACK FROM SCOTLAND, TRUMP ENTERS CRUCIAL TRADE WEEK AND EYES FED'S DECISION ON RATE CUTSHigher rates mean it becomes more expensive for banks to borrow money overnight. This cost is often passed on to consumers and businesses through higher interest rates on loans and credit. When the Fed lowers the funds rate, borrowing becomes cheaper, and this generally stimulates more economic activity. Most analysts believe that the Federal Reserves decision to keep interest rates high, relative to the average rate over the past 15 years, is being driven by fear. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell and some of the other leaders at the central bank say that if they lower interest rates, inflation will surge, driving up already high costs on goods and services across the economy.GOOD ECONOMIC DATA IS BAD NEWS FOR TRUMPS INTEREST RATE PUSHHowever, the best evidence tells a very different story.First of all, there currently is no inflation crisis. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in July that the consumer price index one of the most popular measures of inflation increased in June by 2.7% compared to one year prior.Although the CPI in June was slightly higher than the CPI recorded in May (2.4%), both months remained below the levels recorded in December 2024 (2.9%) and January 2025 (3%). Additionally, inflation has leveled off substantially from where it was during much of Joe Bidens presidency.Second, historical data and recent experience show that the Feds view of inflation and interest rates is completely misguided. The Feds benchmark rate is not a significant factor in causing or preventing inflation.TRUMPS HOUSING CHIEF RIPS POWELL FOR BLOWING MILLIONS ON FED FACELIFT DURING HOUSING CRISIS HE PERPETUATESFor example, during President Barack Obamas eight years in office, the Feds benchmark interest rate was extremely low, consistently less than 1%. Yet,inflation was also extremely low, even during years in which the economy added a significant number of jobs.Notably, during President Donald Trumps first term, the Federal Reserve increased interest rates substantially though not nearly as high as they are now and inflation remained relatively the same as it had been under much of Obamas term. These are not exceptions to the rule. A review of data over the past half-century shows theres no strong correlation between the Feds interest rate and inflation.FEDERAL RESERVE LEAVES INTEREST RATES UNCHANGEDThat doesnt mean interest rates are irrelevant, or that they should be at or near zero. Keeping interest rates too low over a long period can create significant unintended consequences, such as encouraging increases in public and private debt. But the idea that Powell and his pals at the Fed are staving off an inflation crisis by keeping rates high is delusional. All that the Fed is achieving by refusing to cut rates even by just half a percentage point is making it costlier for everyone to finance debt. This has enormous economic implications, especially for businesses wanting to expand and families looking to buy or sell a home, car, or another high-priced item. The Feds decision to keep rates high is, by design, keeping Americas economy from booming. If the Feds benchmark interest rate isnt the most important factor when considering inflation, then what is? The answer is, it all depends on the circumstances.SEN RAND PAUL: THERE ARE $186 BILLION REASONS WHY WE MUST AUDIT THE FEDInflation occurs when the prices of goods and services across the economy rise, making your money worth less than it was before. One common cause is when people are spending a lot and demand for things like food, housing, or cars increases faster than companies can supply them. When this happens, businesses often raise prices because they know customers are willing to pay more.Another cause is when it becomes more expensive for businesses to produce goods. If wages go up, raw materials cost more, or energy becomes pricier, companies may pass those extra costs on to consumers by raising prices.Inflation can also happen when theres a large increase in the amount of money circulating in the economy. If the government prints a lot of money or spends heavily without matching production, the value of money can fall. When each dollar buys less than before, prices rise to make up the difference.TRUMP IS CONCERNED ABOUT HOW THE FED IS MANAGED MORE THAN ABOUT FIRING POWELL, SAYS DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFFDuring the Biden presidency, all these things occurred. Biden and his Democratic allies in Congress spent obscene amounts of money, imposed policies that sent energy prices skyrocketing, increased regulatory burdens on businesses, and discouraged people from working by hooking millions on government programs.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONAdditionally, COVID-19 lockdowns, Russias war in Ukraine and instability in the Middle East raised uncertainty and, in some cases, severely impacted supply chains, raising prices on a long list of goods and services. But now, the lockdowns are over, supply chains and markets have adjusted to the recent international turmoil, investment in America is on rise, and people are back to work.Theres simply no reason to believe that a modest interest rate cut would cause inflation to increase dramatically, if at all. Why, then, are Powell and the other Fed governors keeping rates higher than needed? Perhaps its because they dont like the president. Or maybe its because they dont understand what truly causes inflation.Either way, it seems apparent that a change in leadership is desperately needed at Americas central bank.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM JUSTIN HASKINS
