WWW.FOXNEWS.COMDems dig in, Trump demands all: Nominee fight boils over in Senate as GOP looks for a dealThe path to a deal on confirming a slew of President Donald Trumps nominees appeared shaky at best in the Senate Saturday, as Republicans and Democrats sparred over terms and conditions to find a way forward.Senators were supposed to be long gone from Washington by now, but Trumps demands to ram his nominees through Senate Democrats historic blockade have kept lawmakers in town. But by late afternoon, not much progress had been made.RECESS ON ICE AS REPUBLICANS HUNKER DOWN FOR HIGH-STAKES NOMINEE BLITZWhen asked if any headway had been made, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., told Fox News Digital, "Unfortunately, not really, no.""The Dems are dug in on a position that's just not working," he said.Negotiations have been ongoing among Republicans, Democrats and the White House. Thune and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., met last night to discuss an offer from Democrats. The two have not spoken directly since then, instead communicating through intermediaries, Thune said. However, he expected they would talk again later Saturday.Senate Republicans want to strike a deal that would see nominees that made it through committee with bipartisan support get lightning-fast votes on the floor, but Schumer has not relented.SENATE GOP EYES RULES REVOLT AS DEMS STONEWALL TRUMP NOMINEESA source familiar with negotiations said Senate Democrats are looking for deals on the release of funding withheld by the White House and a guarantee that there will be no future rescissions packages a particular sticking point for them heading into the looming deadline to fund the government. In exchange, they are offering a tranche of nominees to go ahead now, and another round later in the fall. But Trump, who is at his Bedminster, N.J., golf course, has demanded that lawmakers stay in town and pass the entire slate of nominees on the Senate calendar, which has ballooned to over 150.The president lauded Senate Republicans in a post to Truth Social on Saturday "for fighting, over the Weekend and far beyond, if necessary, in order to get my great Appointments approved, and on their way to helping us MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!""The Radical Left Democrat Senators are doing everything possible to DELAY these wonderful and talented people from being approved," he said. "If George Washington or Abraham Lincoln were up for approval, the Dems would delay, as long as possible, then vote them out."GRIDLOCK CRUMBLES AS SENATE ADVANCES SPENDING BILLS IN RACE AGAINST SHUTDOWNWhile Republicans have confirmed well over 100 of the presidents nominees, the only pick to make it to the floor without objection was Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Not a single one of Trumps nominees has gotten a voice vote or gone through unanimous consent, two floor actions that have been routinely used to advance nominees in the upper chamber throughout the years. At this point four years ago, 49 of former President Joe Bidens picks had been confirmed by voice vote.Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., explained that Republicans have three options that they have enough support among the conference to move forward with: reach a deal with Democrats; adjourn the Senate and give the president runway for recess appointments and finally, a rules-change package, which some Republicans consider the "nuclear option."On recess appointments, a move floated since before Trump took office, Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., contended it would be up to Democrats whether Republicans actually went through with it."The Democrats obstruction is leading to, in very short order, us taking the necessary actions to give the President power to make recess appointments," he said. While it would be a touchy move that would set off a firestorm among Democrats, Republicans arent afraid to move ahead with a rules change. When asked if a rule change should be done before lawmakers leave town, Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., said "I think thatd be best."But the preference is to strike a deal, preferably on a potential package on over 60 nominees that were advanced out of committee in a bipartisan fashion."The reason why we're that way is because Schumer led us down this road," Mullin said. "He didn't have to do it this way."0 Commentaires 0 Parts 32 Vue 0 Aperçu

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMKristin Davis reveals 'Melrose Place' co-star wouldn't speak to her on set during filmingKristin Davis revealed that one of her "Melrose Place" co-stars gave her the cold shoulder during the time they worked together on the hit '90s prime-time soap drama.During a recent appearance on "Hey Dude... The '90s Called!" podcast, the 60-year-old actress recalled that she "felt like I won the lottery" when she landed the role of the villainous Brooke Armstrong in the third season of "Melrose Place" from 1995 to 1996.However, the "Sex and the City" star told hosts Christine Taylor and David Lascher "there was never a moment of feeling confident" on the set of the Aaron Spelling-created series, and one cast member in particular was not very friendly to her."There were just so many, so many people [on set]," Davis said. "And I felt and I have obviously seen all these people since then, and so many of them are so lovely. But at the time ... it was competitive."KRISTIN DAVIS SLAMS MISOGYNIST CHATTER ABOUT AGING, HER APPEARANCE: I FEEL ANGRY"I had my friends within, like Marcia Cross and I were were close, which was wonderful," she continued. "But there was one, you know, she wouldn't speak to me. Like, she wouldn't speak to me."I never had scenes with her, so it wasn't an issue. But I say, like, 'Good morning,' [and she wouldn't respond]."Taylor noted she also had similar experiences with co-stars, especially during that "period of time" in which she recalled actors were wary of "anybody who could potentially threaten your job.""We've all been on sets where we've had that experience where it was like, 'Oh, I don't think that they love that I'm here, but I'm only here for like a guest star [role] or whatever, right?'" she said. The "Zoolander" star continued, "And sometimes they weren't the nicest on certain sets and other times wonderful, but I feel like it was a period of time. And then, I guarantee you now, 30 years out of it everyone looks back and is like, Oh my God, what an idiot I was."Davis explained she had "seen this person," who she did not name, since that time."She's very nice to me now," Davis said. "And sometimes I'm like, 'Does she remember that she was being not that nice to me?'"Davis said she took the opposite approach when she starred on "Sex and the City," describing herself as the "welcoming committee" when new actors joined the cast or made guest appearances."I tried to get out there quick and be like, Hi, because I remember that horrible feeling," Davis recalled. "It was scary."Despite her negative experience with one co-star, Davis shared that it was "amazing" to be part of "Melrose Place," though she was disappointed that her stint on the show was short.KRISTIN DAVIS SLAMS MISOGYNIST CHATTER ABOUT AGING, HER APPEARANCE: I FEEL ANGRY"Melrose was intimidating in, you know, so many ways, obviously," Davis said. "I mean, I grew up ... watching all the Dallas and Dynasty and blah blah blah.""So, it meant a lot to me to be on there," she added. "Obviously, it was just a job also. Like, at a certain point, you're like, 'I have won the lottery. Like, I have a job. I cannot believe it.'"You know, it's amazing, right, from a young actor perspective," she added. "And, I mean, as far as I know, I was gonna stay there. Like, I didn't know that I was only gonna be one season, which I believe was 32 episodes, which is insane to think about now."Davis' character was killed off in the episode "Devil in a Wet Dress" after she drowned in the Melrose Place pool after falling and hitting her head.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERDuring a February interview with People magazine, Davis revealed that she beat Hilary Swank for the role of Brooke in "Melrose Place.""It was Hilary Swank, myself and a girl named Meredith," Davis recalled of the final auditions for the part.Davis told the outlet she had been worried about her "very, very long hair" at the time since the other actresses on the show had shorter hair. She recalled that she considered cutting her hair but decided against it."I remember going in, and it was just the three of us, and everyone was very nice," Davis recalled. "It wasn't one of those, like, scary rooms, and then you go in one at a time.."And I remember Hilary came out, and she seemed so young, and she had kind of shorter hair and kind of sporty. And I was like, Uh-oh," she continued. "And then Meredith had longer hair also. I was like, 'Oh, good.'"Davis recalled that she and Meredith comforted Swank, who told them, "I totally blew it," after leaving the audition room."Obviously, she goes on to win two Oscars," Davis said of Swank with a laugh. "She did fine. She did fine."0 Commentaires 0 Parts 11 Vue 0 Aperçu

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMCNN data guru says Democrats are 'messier than a hoarder's basement,' party's image is 'garbage'CNN senior political data reporter Harry Enten marveled on Friday at how the Democratic Party has not only failed to find a new leader, but continues to disappoint voters.CNN News Central host Kate Bolduan spoke about former Vice President Kamala Harris breaking her recent silence by speaking in a lengthy interview with late-night host Stephen Colbert, Thursday. Bolduan observed that Harris spoke about her choice not to run for the governorship of California and left the door open for another presidential run in 2028.But Enten argued the Democrats search for a new leader is long from over, suggesting the party remains "historically divided" over the proper path forward to the point that they are "messier than a hoarders basement."KAMALA HARRIS REFUSES TO SAY WHO'S LEADING DEMOCRATIC PARTY WHEN PRESSED BY COLBERT"The water is quite warm. If youre a Democrat potentially thinking about running in 2028, jump right in, because at this point there is no frontrunner," Enten said."One of the reasons why there is no frontrunner," he said, "Nobody wants to put anybody up at the top of their ballot list because, at this particular point, the Democratic brand is in the basement."He continued by citing three very similar polls, suggesting the Democratic Party is perceived as "total and complete garbage in the mind of the American public. The Democratic Partys net favorable rating, record lows in all three. Wall Street Journal, 30 points underwater. CNN, 26 points underwater. Gallup, 26 points underwater."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURECLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPBut the driving force for those polls, he claimed, comes from within the Democratic base itself."That is being driven in large part by discontent within the Democratic base. It will be quite the thing who ultimately gets the rose."0 Commentaires 0 Parts 28 Vue 0 Aperçu
