WWW.FOXNEWS.COMSenate bill looks to box out future presidents who may try to skirt immigration enforcement lawsEXCLUSIVE: Congressional Republicans are pushing to close a loophole that prevents illegal immigrants convicted of DUI from being automatically deported a gap they say has been overlooked and could be exploited by less aggressive administrations.Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., will introduce a measure this week to prevent illegal immigrants convicted of DUI from entering the U.S. and also make those living here clearly deportable. The Protect Our Communities From DUIs Act would clarify existing law under the Immigration and Nationality Act that already makes illegal immigrants deportable for aggravated felonies and "crimes of moral turpitude."Not every DUI case is the same, as some are misdemeanor offenses, some are charged as felonies, though all are considered crimes of moral turpitude.SEN CHUCK GRASSLEY: HOW SENATE REPUBLICANS ARE RESTORING RULE OF LAW AND SECURING BORDER FOR YEARS TO COMEHagertys bill would make any DUI conviction a deportable development regardless of misdemeanor or felony charges.Immigration hawks have long been concerned that administrations less eager to deport illegal immigrants may utilize loopholes or vague categorizations in existing code to make the argument they dont have to or cannot deport certain people. The bill makes clear that "any alien" who has been convicted of or admits committing "acts constituting the essential elements of an offense for driving while intoxicated or impaired regardless of whether such conviction or offense is classified as a misdemeanor or felony under Federal, State, tribal, or local law" is deportable."During the Biden administration, our nation saw a surge in violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants, and they were not held accountable,"Hagerty told Fox News Digital.37 HOUSE DEMS VOTE WITH GOP TO DEPORT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT DRUNK DRIVERS"It is unconscionable that illegal immigrants who break our laws and endanger our communities would be allowed to remain in the U.S. While President Trump is delivering on his promises and deporting criminal illegal aliens quickly and effectively, this bill would ensure that future administrations are on noticealiens who drive drunk do not belong in our communities.""Im pleased to introduce this commonsense legislation that would strengthen President Trumps ability to hold illegal immigrants accountable and protect our citizens."In that regard, former President Joe Biden threatened to fire ICE agents who deported criminal illegal aliens that had not committed felonies adding he didnt "count" DUIs as felonies."[ICE should] only arrest for the purpose of dealing with a felony thats been committed," Biden said.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPSpeaking about such legislation on the House floor in June, Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., said that "Republicans say of course not" to allowing a "guest in this country [to stay] who endangers Americans while driving drunk.""The Democrats say sure," he added, going on to cite Bidens remark.Sens. Ted Budd, R-N.C., Katie Britt, R-Ala., Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.V., Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Deb Fischer, R-Neb., James Lankford, R-Okla., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, have all signed onto Hagertys legislation.Rep. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMTexas map fight escalates as Jeffries vows all options to stop GOP planThe top House Democrat says that "all options should be on the table" in the Texas redistricting battle."We will fight them politically. We will fight them governmentally. We will fight them in court. We will fight them in terms of winning the hearts and minds of the people of Texas and beyond. The Texas Democrats are going to show up and stand up and speak up for what's right for the people of Texas, and that's showing courage and conviction and character in doing that," House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York said on Thursday at a news conference in Texas with Democratic state lawmakers. The news conference came a day after Texas GOP state lawmakers unveiled the first draft of their proposed new congressional redistricting map, as part of their push to flip five Democrat-held seats in the reliably red state."We'll see what happens over the next few days, over the next few weeks. But the one thing I know is clear that Texas Democrats are fighting for the people," he added. The Republican push in Texas is part of a broader effort by the GOP across the country to keep control of the House, and cushion losses elsewhere in the country, as the party in power traditionally faces political headwinds and loses seats in midterm elections.TEXAS GOV SAYS DEMS WHO FLED STATE OVER ELECTIONS BILL WILL BE ARRESTED UPON RETURNDemocrats control just 12 of the state's 38 congressional districts, with a blue-leaning seat vacant after the death in March of Rep. Sylvester Turner. The GOP plan relocates Democratic voters from competitive seats into nearby GOP-leaning districts, and moves Republican voters into neighboring districts the Democrats currently control.Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, both conservative Republicans and Trump allies, said they needed to redistrict because of constitutional concerns raised by the Justice Department over a handful of minority-dominated districts.COURT SIDETRACKS REDISTRICTING FIGHT IN KEY BATTLEGROUND STATEBut the move is potentially risky, as it makes some once-reliably red districts more competitive.Redistricting typically takes place at the start of each decade, based on the latest U.S. Census data. Mid-decade redistricting is uncommonbut not without precedent.Democrats are slamming Trump and Texas Republicans for what they describe as a power grab, and vowing to take legal action to prevent any shift in the current congressional maps. And Democrats in blue-dominated states are now trying to fight fire with fire."Two can play this game," California Gov. Gavin Newsom wrote on social media recently. The next day, after a meeting, Democrats in California's congressional delegation said they were on board with an ambitious plan to try and gain at least five seats through redistricting. Democrats currently control 43 of the Golden State's 52 congressional districts.TEXAS DEMOCRATS PREPARING STATE EXODUS TO BLOCK GOP REDISTRICTING DESPITE $500 DAILY FINESJeffries, after his two-day stop in Texas, heads to California for meetings with state Democrats. But it won't be easy to enact the change, because in California, congressional maps are drawn by an independent commission that is not supposed to let partisanship influence their work.Newsom has suggested that the state's Democratic-controlled legislature move forward with a mid-decade redrawing of the maps, arguing that it might not be forbidden by the 17-year-old ballot initiative that created the independent commission. The governor also proposed quickly holding a special election to repeal the commission ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Both plans are considered long shots, as they would face plenty of legislative, legal and financial hurdles.Democrats in other heavily populated blue states, including New York, Illinois, and New Jersey, are also considering making changes to their maps, but have redistricting limits enshrined in their state constitutions.Meanwhile, Ohio is required by law to redistrict this year, and a redrawing of the maps in the red-leaning state could provide the GOP with up to three more congressional seats. And Republicans are also mulling mid-decade redistricting that might give the GOP a couple of more House seats in red states such as Florida, Missouri, and Indiana.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 20 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMUNICEF official says Gaza malnutrition reaches 'famine levels' as humanitarian aid trickles inMalnutrition levels inside the Gaza Strip have reached famine levels as aid starts to trickle in, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban told Fox News."The situation is catastrophic on the ground in Gaza." Chaiban said. "After 22 months of war, two months of a blockade by Israel, people are in a horrendous state."Newly released data shows that a quarter of Gazas population, nearly 500,000 people, are enduring famine-like conditions.BERNIE SANDERS TO FORCE SENATE VOTE ON BLOCKING ARMS SALE TO ISRAELUNICEF is working with the World Food Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization to distribute food and nutrition supplements to Palestinian civilians, but Chaiban cautions that commercial access to Gaza is necessary to resolve the hunger crisis."On our own, we wont be able to address the needs of two million people," Chaiban added.Right now, UNICEF has three key requests from the Israeli government and military that must approve all entry of aid to Gaza.STARMER SAYS UK TO RECOGNIZE PALESTINIAN STATE IF ISRAEL DOESN'T AGREE TO CEASEFIRE, HAMAS MUST DISARMUNICEF is requesting that their efforts be complemented by commercial traffic, dual-use issues of things like water pipes be resolved, and more partners be allowed to operate inside the enclave.Humanitarian efforts have ramped up in recent days, with hundreds of trucks being permitted to distribute aid inside Gaza, coupled with airdrops of pallets by Jordan and the UAE. Currently, around 100 trucks a day are driving aid to central kitchens and warehouses. The United Nations aims to have 400 to 500 trucks a day working to address immediate humanitarian concerns."What is needed is to build on the opportunity and the opening of the humanitarian pause," Chaiban said. "To send that aid in through all channels and all routes in order that it can reach the population."The UNICEF Deputy returned from a visit to Gaza this week. While there, he saw emaciated civilians walking around, empty markets and young children suffering from malnutrition. He believed that an end to the war is the only sustainable solution to address the expanding crisis.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP"Most importantly is to reach a ceasefire and the release of hostages which should not be held in the Gaza Strip, so that there is relief on a more sustainable basis to the people in Gaza that have gone through a horrendous situation," Chaiban concluded.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 19 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMPadres acquire All-Star closer Mason Miller from Athletics in blockbuster deal before trade deadline: reportsThe biggest splash of the MLB trade deadline thus far has come between two west coast teams. The Athletics traded All-Star closer Mason Miller and starting pitcher J.P. Sears to the San Diego Padres for the third-ranked prospect in all of baseball and three other minor league pitchers, according to multiple reports.Rumors swirled earlier in the week that Miller's name had been mentioned in preliminary discussions. Late Wednesday, it was revealed the Padres had put their name in the hat.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMIt was a hefty price for the Padres, but it's hard to blame them right now. They own a three-game lead for the final wild card spot, but they're also just three games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West crown.Miller is, hands down one, of the best in the game. He made his MLB debut in 2023 but burst onto the scene last year with a 2.49 ERA and 14.4 K/9.He was named an All-Star last season, which was his first full campaign in the majors. He's been clocked at 104.1 mph and averages 101.1 on the gun this season, the fastest in the sport. His strikeout percentage of 39.1% is also the best mark in the major leagues, but he does rank in the bottom-10 percentile in walk-rate. His ERA is also up from last year, being at 3.76.MLB TWIN BROTHERS TRADED WITHIN HOURS OF EACH OTHER AS DEADLINE APPROACHESNonetheless, the Padres have locked up their closer, who won't even reach arbitration until after next season. That explains the haul the Athletics got, with the prized possession being shortstop Leo De Vries, an 18-year-old from the Domincan Republic. He signed with the Padres as a top international prospect for $4.2 million last year and was almost immediately a top prosect.De Vries represented San Diego in the MLB All-Star Futures Game earlier this month in Atlanta. This year appears to be the trade deadline of relievers, and Miller tops the class.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 19 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMJames Clapper, John Brennan hit back at Trump allegations about Russia probe as 'patently false'Former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper responded sharply Wednesday to Trump administration allegations that they cooked intel in the sprawling Russia investigation that dominated the president's first term."That is patently false. In making those allegations, they seek to rewrite history. We want to set the record straight and, in doing so, sound a warning," the pair wrote in a guest essay for The New York Times.Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has alleged former President Barack Obama and members of his administration, including Clapper and Brennan, promoted a "contrived narrative" that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to benefit Trump, which led to the sprawling collusion investigation that consumed Trump's presidency. Trump has described the alleged actions by Obama, Clapper, Brennan and Comey as "serious treason.""While some external critiques have noted that parts of the Russia investigation could have been handled better, multiple, thorough, years-long reviews of the assessment have validated its findings and the rigor of its analysis," Brennan and Clapper wrote, arguing the most "noteworthy" example was the bipartisan Senate Intelligence report on the investigation.OBAMA OFFICIALS ADMITTED THEY HAD NO 'EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE' OF TRUMP-RUSSIA COLLUSION: HOUSE INTEL TRANSCRIPTS"Every serious review has substantiated the intelligence communitys fundamental conclusion that the Russians conducted an influence campaign intended to help Mr. Trump win the 2016 election," the pair continued. "Although the misrepresentations and disinformation of the administration are too numerous to address here, let us set the record straight on three. To be clear, we are writing here in our personal capacities, and our views dont imply the endorsement of any federal agency."Brennan and Clapper argued that the Steele Dossier, which was authored by ex-British intelligence officer Christopher Steele and funded by Hillary Clintons presidential campaign and the DNC, was not used as a source or taken into account for any of the analysis. However, they added it was included as a "separate annex only to the most highly classified version of the document that contained the assessment," at the direction of the FBI.The intelligence officials also said that their assessment made "no judgment" about the impact of the Russian operation on the outcome of the 2016 election."Russian influence operations might have shaped the views of Americans before they entered the voting booth, but we found no evidence that the Russians changed any actual votes," Clapper and Brennan wrote.EX-OBAMA INTEL BOSS WANTED ANTI-TRUMP DOSSIER INCLUDED IN 'ATYPICAL' 2016 ASSESSMENT DESPITE PUSHBACKClapper appeared on CNN to dispute the allegations, telling host Kaitlan Collins that the claims were false. Brennan joined MSNBC earlier this month and said he was "clueless" as to why he would be investigated."Finally, and contrary to the Trump administrations wild and baseless claims, there was no mention of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians in the assessment, nor any reference to the publicly acknowledged contacts that had taken place," Clapper and Brennan added. The pair insisted the "real politicization" was coming from members of Trump's administration, specifically Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE"The real politicization is the calculated distortion of intelligence by administration officials, notably Mr. Trumps directors of national intelligence and the C.I.A., positions that should be apolitical. We find it deeply regrettable that the administration continues to perpetuate the fictitious narrative that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 election. It should instead acknowledge that a foreign nation-state a mortal enemy of the United States routinely meddles in our national elections and will continue to do so unless we take appropriate bipartisan action to stop it," Clapper and Brennan concluded.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment but did not immediately receive a response.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 19 Views 0 previzualizare

Its an eyewitness contribution to history and an extraordinary story."In mid-July, Colbert announced that his show had been canceled and would end in May 2026.Her appearance with the late-night star is not expected to be a rigorous interview. Colbert openly supported Harris in the 2024 election and frequently uses his show to boost Democrats with friendly chats; on Wednesday, one of his guests was Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich. The day his cancellation was announced, one of his guests that night was Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.Critics of CBS parent company Paramount have speculated that Colbert's left-wing late-night show is being canceled for purely political reasons.DEMOCRATS FAWN OVER STEPHEN COLBERT FOR HOLDING 'TRUTH TO POWER' AFTER CBS CANCELS SHOWIn addition to being a fierce critic of Trump, Colbert mocked Paramount for settling Trump's lawsuit against CBS News for the "60 Minutes" edit of its interview with Harris last year. Trump sued for election interference and Paramount closed the matter ahead of its pending $8 billion merger with Skydance Media. However, Colbert's cancellation was already reportedly in the works before his latest digs at Paramount, and his show was costing the network upwards of $40 million a year.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 19 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMEpstein accuser Virginia Giuffre's family says Trump 'should never consider giving Maxwell any leniency'The family of Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre is urging President Donald Trump not to consider "any leniency" for Ghislaine Maxwell as she seeks a way out of prison for her role in the disgraced financiers crimes. While speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Tuesday, Trump revealed Epstein "stole" Giuffre while she was working at his Florida estate decades ago."I think she worked at the spa," Trump said as he departed Scotland, referring to Giuffre. "He stole her, and by the way, she had no complaints about us, as you know, none whatsoever."The revelation further peeled back the curtain on the narrative surrounding Epsteins years of sexual abuse towards underage girls before his suicide in 2019, especially for Giuffres family, who have spent decades looking for answers.JEFFREY EPSTEIN 'STOLE' VIRGINIA GIUFFRE, OTHER EMPLOYEES FROM MAR-A-LAGO SPA: TRUMP"It makes us ask if [Trump] was aware of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwells criminal actions, especially given his statement two years later that his good friend Jeffrey likes women on the younger side, no doubt about it," Giuffres two brothers and her sisters-in-law told The Atlantic. "We and the public are asking for answers; survivors deserve this."For years, Giuffre remained one of the key voices in holding those within Epsteins web accountable before she died by suicide in her Western Australia home in April.Giuffre first came forward publicly with her allegations after an initial investigation into Epstein resulted in a controversial sweetheart deal that ended with the disgraced money manager receiving an 18-month Florida jail sentence.JEFFREY EPSTEIN THROWN OUT OF MAR-A-LAGO FOR HIRING THE HELP: TRUMP"Virginia cooperated with the authorities," her family said. "She endured death threats, threats against the lives of her children and family, financial ruin, and her physical and mental well-being were destroyed. She never backed down; she hoped that her strength would inspire other survivors to find the courage to come forward."Civil litigation brought by Giuffre alleged she was recruited by Maxwell while working as a spa attendant at Mar-a-Lago in 2000. Her family told the outlet what was supposed to be a fun summer job ended with Giuffre being sex-trafficked.Trump has previously said he was not involved in Epsteins sex crimes. He and Epstein reportedly fell out of touch in 2004 two years before Epsteins initial arrest after Trump outbid Epstein on a coastal Florida estate, according to The Palm Beach Post.TRUMP DROPS EPSTEIN-LINKED NAMES THAT MEDIA OUGHT TO BE SPEAKING ABOUT AMID FILES FIRESTORMThe president also added this week that he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after he was caught poaching employees from Trumps staff including Giuffre."He took people," Trump said. "I said, Dont do that anymore, you know, they work for me. And he took beyond that. He took some others. And once he did that, that was the end of him.""President Trump was directly responding to a question posed by a reporter about Ms. Guiffre he did not bring her up," the White House said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club for being a creep to his female employees."GHISLAINE MAXWELL SUBPOENAED BY HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE AMID EPSTEIN FILES PUSHGiuffre's family Sky and Amanda Roberts, and Danny and Lannette Wilson told The Atlantic they are still "reeling" from her suicide and are worried about Maxwells bid for immunity in exchange for information."The government and the President should never consider giving Ghislaine Maxwell any leniency," Giuffres family wrote.Last week, Maxwell took center stage after she met with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to answer questions surrounding the case.Days earlier, she was slapped with a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee asking her to testify on Aug. 11. Her attorney has since said she will only testify if granted immunity, which the panel rejected.SCOTUS TO DISCUSS GHISLAINE MAXWELLS CASE PRIVATELY IN SEPTEMBER AT POST-SUMMER CONFERENCE"If our sister could speak today, she would be most angered by the fact that the government is listening to a known perjurer, a woman who repeatedly lied under oath and will continue to do so as long as it benefits her position," Giuffres family told The Atlantic, referring to Maxwell.Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in procuring underage girls for Epstein to sexually abuse. She has recently appealed to Trump to pardon her sentence a possibility the president has previously said is within his right to consider, but he has not been asked to do so yet. However, a senior administration official told Fox News Digital that "no leniency is being given or discussed. Thats just false. The President himself has said that clemency for Maxwell is not something he is even thinking about at this time."GHISLAINE MAXWELL THREATENS TO DODGE EPSTEIN QUESTIONS UNLESS DEMANDS ARE METMaxwells attorney and Giuffre's family did not immediately respond to Fox News Digitals request for comment.Maxwell's legal team is also asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear an appeal of her 2021 conviction a decision the court is set to discuss in a private conference on Sept. 29.In light of the recent conversations toying with the possibility of Maxwell receiving an incentive in exchange for her testimony, Giuffres family is imploring officials to not take the bait, while asking the Trump administration to maintain its promises of accountability and transparency."The government and the President should never consider giving Ghislaine Maxwell any leniency," Giuffres family said. "Maxwell destroyed many young lives, and she was convicted for only a fraction of the crimes she actually committed."The Associated Press contributed to this report.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 20 Views 0 previzualizare
