WWW.FOXNEWS.COMRubio downplays 2028 talk, touts Vance as Trump's successorSecretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed speculation that he could be the Republican Partys 2028 presidential nominee, instead throwing his support behind Vice President JD Vance."I think JD Vance would be a great nominee if he decides he wants to do that," Rubio said during an interview with Lara Trump that aired on the Fox News Channel Saturday.Rubio also described Vance as one of his "closest friends in politics."RUBIO REFLECTS ON REMARKABLE POLITICAL JOURNEY FROM TRUMP CRITIC TO TRUSTED CABINET MEMBERHe went on to commend Vances performance as vice president during the segment on "My View with Lara Trump" and made clear he is satisfied with his current role in President Donald Trumps Cabinet."I want to do this job as long as the president allows me to," Rubio added.Trump appointed Rubio to serve as the nation's top diplomat shortly after defeating thenVice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Rubio, previously a Republican senator representing Florida, was among the first confirmed to Trump's Cabinet."I believe that if I am able to be here, through the duration of this presidency, and we get things done at the pace that we've been doing the last six months, I'll be able to look back at my time in public service and say I made a difference, I had an impact, and I served my country in a very positive way," Rubio told Trump."And I would be satisfied with that as the apex of my career," he added.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 12 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMNASCAR driver Aric Almirola blasts Austin Hill over 'intentional' crash: 'That was violent'NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers Austin Hill and Aric Almirola got into a nasty wreck during the Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon.Hill and Almirola were coming around a turn with 10 laps to go in the race. Almirola got into the back of Hill and sent him sliding up the track. Almirola tried to go around him, but Hill came down and sent Almirola spinning to the wall.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMAlmirola hit the wall hard while Hill spun in the grass before coming back up the track and making contact with the wall as well. Hill was hit with a five-lap penalty because of the controversial hit. He told his team over the radio that it hadn't been intentional.Almirola disagreed."It was definitely intentional," Almirola told the CW after being released from the infield care center, via NASCAR.com. "He blocked me three times. I finally got him loose in (Turn) 3. He had damage on the nose, so he was really slow in the corners. It was time to go. I mean, were coming to nine to go, and the leaders are starting to put a gap on us, so its time to go."Almirola was uninjured, but he said the crash reminded him of a 2017 wreck in which he had broken his back.2025 NASCAR ODDS: KYLE LARSON FAVORITE FOR BRICKYARD 400"That was violent, to be totally honest," he added. "Thats one of the hardest hits Ive taken in my NASCAR career. The impact felt very similar to when I broke my back. WWW.FOXNEWS.COMFreedom Caucus lawmaker Ralph Norman vows to 'shake things up' in South Carolina governor bidA lawmaker in the conservative House Freedom Caucus is launching his campaign to be governor of South Carolina.Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., who came to Congress in 2017, kicked off his Palmetto State bid with a Rock Hill campaign rally on Sunday."I am running for governor to shake things up, clean up Columbia, and finally take down the corrupt political establishment once and for all," Norman is telling voters, according to prepared remarks obtained by Fox News Digital. "I owe nothing to the lobbyists. I owe nothing to the Columbia bureaucratic elite. My allegiance is to you, the people of South Carolina."As part of his campaign platform, Norman is promising to establish a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) "commission" in the state "that roots out waste, fraud, and abuse."THOM TILLIS ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM SENATE AFTER CLASH WITH TRUMPNorman is also running on the promise of fixing South Carolinas infrastructure, implementing term limits for state lawmakers, tort reform, and pledging to "let the people vote on judges."Currently, a majority of state judgeships in South Carolina are decided by the General Assembly. Some positions, including magistrate judges, are appointed by the governor.Norman is also promising "to use the bully pulpit to bring my case directly to the people" and to "use the veto pen."His campaign speech also touches on socially conservative goals like advocating for school choice, and restricting school bathrooms by gender at birth."And if that all doesnt work, Im telling you now that any so-called "Republican" RINO legislator that doesnt stand for reforms the people are calling for doesnt deserve to be in office and well beat them in Republican primaries if thats what it takes," Normans speech says.Norman is joining a crowded Republican primary field with his Sunday announcement. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette and state Sen. Josh Kimbrell are also in the race.Meanwhile, Norman's House colleague, Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., is also said to be considering a campaign for governor.COMER DISMISSES BIDEN DOCTOR'S BID FOR PAUSE IN COVER-UP PROBE: 'THROWING OUT EVERY EXCUSE'And in a state that President Donald Trump won by nearly 20 points in 2024, the commander-in-chiefs endorsement both in the primary and general election will likely be critical.Norman pointed out in his speech that both he and Trump have a background in real estate; both men led development companies that were founded by their fathers."We need business leaders people who have signed both the front and the back of a paycheck. Folks who have built something, taken risks, made money, and yes, lost money too," Norman said. "Thankfully, we have a great businessman and fellow developer back in the White House! Just look what a difference President Trump has made in six months."He also cast himself as a disruptor who helped move "the needle by making our budget more conservative," in reference to the House Freedom Caucuss push to move Trumps "big, beautiful bill" to the right. And while the group was successful in doing that in the House, the Senate watered down several of those wins during its time considering the bill. The Senate version ultimately passed the House, with Norman and other Freedom Caucus members voting in support."Some say I have earned a reputation of being uncompromising, always trying to make a bill more conservative," Normans speech says. "Well folks, Ill take that as a compliment and I am proud of it."As a member of Congress, Norman sits on the House Committee on Financial Services, House Budget Committee, and House Rules Committee.A longtime ally of former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Norman was the only House Republican to formally endorse her before Haley dropped out of the race, after which Norman backed Trump. He told Fox News Digital of his endorsement in January 2024, "When I supported Nikki Haley, I had the respect of Donald Trump to call him, and I told him what I was gonna do, and I decided I was going to do it."Its worth noting, however, that Norman had been a vocal supporter of Trump since Haley's exit and unlike other House Freedom Caucus allies, he did not incur Trumps wrath for his loyalty to Haley. He was most recently at the White House earlier this week with other House Republicans for a reception celebrating their legislative successes. The South Carolina gubernatorial general election will take place in November 2026.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 16 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMDemocratic senator laments party's messaging problem as ratings plummet to 30-year lowSen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., acknowledged that the Democratic Party had a messaging problem on Sunday when confronted with a poll that found the party had its lowest favorability rating in nearly three decades."We have to fix this. I don't put a ton of stock into polls, especially this far away from an election, but we certainly do have a problem, and it's a messaging problem," Kelly told CNN's Jake Tapper. The Wall Street Journal released a poll on Sunday that found just 63% of voters have an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party the highest unfavorable rating the party has received in the WSJ's poll since 1990."Its important to get out there and talk to people about the issues that they care about," he said.PELOSI CONFIDENT ABOUT DEMS' CHANCES TO WIN HOUSE, PREDICTS JEFFRIES WILL BE SPEAKERKelly explained that he has spoken to Americans in different states about the "big, beautiful bill" and how it might affect them."So myself and my wife, Gabby, you know, sat there in front of a large group and took some questions from them and tried to explain to them, you know, whats going to happen to Medicaid, whats going to happen to food assistance through SNAP. And there were folks here that I got the sense that these programs directly are going to affect them and their family members, and they do deserve an explanation from somebody in the United States Congress," Kelly said. The WSJ poll found that just 33% of registered voters have a favorable view of the Democratic Party.Tapper also asked Kelly about the Democratic Party's official X account attempting to describe rising grocery prices under "Trumps America" using a graph dating from October 2019 to 2025. The graph claimed that "U.S. Grocery Prices Reached Record Highs in 2025" with prices "higher today than they were on July 2024" in categories such as dairy, produce and meat.FOUR MONTHS INTO TRUMP'S SECOND TERM, DEMOCRATS REMAIN DEEPLY PESSIMISTIC ABOUT THEIR PARTYHowever, many X users pointed out that the graph, in fact, showed prices skyrocketing in 2021 when Biden was president and only leveling off at the end of 2024 when President Donald Trump was re-elected."So I wonder if you think Democrats have figured out their problems, both in terms of communications and also acknowledging that Biden-era inflation, for example, is one of the reasons why your party is out of power?" Tapper asked after noting that the Democratic Party had deleted the post.He agreed and said, "Yeah, I think thats fair. There was inflation during the Biden Administration. I tracked this pretty closely."Kelly said he saw the price of eggs and ground beef increase during former President Biden's administration before warning about Trump's tariff policy.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE"But I think whats important for the American people to know is that Donald Trumps tariff policy is very likely to increase costs. It takes some time because the supply chains stuff from coming from, you know, in some cases from all over the planet. And his trade policy for my constituents in Arizona, there are a lot of products that come across the southern border, agricultural products that create thousands and thousands of jobs, not only in Arizona, but in the state of Texas," Kelly said.Kelly said they were experiencing job loss in Arizona.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 16 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMMurder of Etan Patz, one of first missing children on milk cartons, raises confession questions after reversalThe man imprisoned for kidnapping and murdering a six-year-old boy in New York City nearly 45 years ago has had his conviction overturned.64-year-old Pedro Hernandez has been serving 25 years to life in prison after being convicted in 2017 of killing Etan Patz in 1979.Patz vanished on the first day he was allowed to walk to the school bus stop by himself on May 25, 1979. He was one of the first missing children to be pictured on milk cartons in a case that drew national attention.President Ronald Reagan later declared May 25, 1983, the first National Missing Children's Day in memory of Patz.COURT OVERTURNS CONVICTION, ORDERS NEW TRIAL OF MAN CONVICTED IN 1979 ETAN PATZ MURDEROn the morning of May 25, 1979, the first-grader was granted permission from his parents to walk alone to the bus stop, located just a block and a half away from where the family lived. His mother took him downstairs and watched him walk into the distance he was never seen again. At the time of Patzs disappearance, Hernandez was working at a convenience shop as a teenager in the childs downtown Manhattan neighborhood. He initially spoke with authorities as they were canvassing for the child, but he did not become a suspect until police received a 2012 tip revealing that Hernandez had previously made remarks about killing a child in New York, but had not mentioned Patz by name.Hernandez was arrested in 2012 and ultimately confessed to the crime after seven hours of questioning, telling investigators he had lured Patz into the stores basement with the promise of giving him a soda. Once inside, Hernandez said he had choked the child because "something just took over me," before putting Patz who Hernandez said was still alive inside a box and leaving it alongside a pile of trash.MENENDEZ BROTHERS BANK ON NEW TRIAL AS BACKUP IF PAROLE BID FAILSHowever, Hernandezs lawyers insisted the confession was the result of a mental illness that caused their client to misinterpret his imagination from reality. The attorneys also pointed to Hernandezs very low IQ."Several factors likely contributed to his confession, including low IQ, mental illness, and heightened suggestibility," Jonathan Alpert, psychotherapist and author of "Therapy Nation," told Fox News Digital. "These make someone more prone to internalizing guilt or fabricating details to meet perceived expectations."Alpert has not treated any of the individuals involved in the case.MENENDEZ BROTHERS SCORE CRUCIAL LEGAL VICTORY IN DECADES-LONG FIGHT AS THEY AWAIT POTENTIAL FREEDOMHernandez was initially tried in New York state court twice with the first trial ending in a jury deadlock in 2015 before an appeal transferred the case into federal court. At the time, prosecutors claimed that Hernandez was faking or exaggerating his illness, pointing to Hernandez reportedly admitting to the crimes before police read him his rights and began recording their interview in 2012. He went on to repeat his confession at least twice while being recorded. The confession ultimately led to questions from jurors during their nine days of deliberations, with their final inquiry revolving around whether they were required to rule out the two recorded confessions if they were to determine that the first one was invalid with the judge telling them they were not.EXPERT WARNS IDAHO MURDERER'S PLEA DEAL STRATEGY IS A DANGEROUS CALCULATED 'LONG GAME'An appeals court later ruled the judge should have provided a better explanation to the jury regarding their options, which could have included not factoring in all three of Hernandezs confessions.Referring to a jury note during the trial, the appeals court said the judge had provided a "clearly wrong" and "manifestly prejudicial" response to the question posed. The courts decision to overturn Hernandezs conviction and grant him a new trial raises questions regarding mental health and confessions in court cases, as Alpert points to the frequent susceptibility of individuals with mental health disorders to "have an intense need to gain approval from authority figures."SCOTT PETERSON'S 'STRONGEST ARGUMENT' FOR MURDER CONVICTION APPEAL IS A LONG SHOT: CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYER"When interrogators suggest a narrative, these individuals can absorb and repeat it, not out of deceit, but out of compliance. Over time, they may even start to believe it themselves, especially when under stress or exhaustion."While a new trial could bring additional clarity for a case that has spanned decades, Alpert warns that it could also lead to misunderstandings regarding testimony and evidence years later."A retrial has the potential to bring clarity, especially if new psychological insights or evidence are introduced," Alpert told Fox News Digital. "But it could just as easily create more confusion, particularly if the case continues to rely heavily on interpretation rather than hard facts."GET REAL-TIME UPDATES DIRECTLY ON THE TRUE CRIME HUBThe case garnered national attention, with Patz's photo being one of the first to be circulated on milk cartons throughout the country. His parents spent decades in the same home and with the same phone number, in hopes of their son eventually returning to them. The childs family worked to help establish a national missing-children hotline and pioneered a new way for law enforcement agencies throughout the country to distribute information regarding such cases."They waited and persevered for 35 years for justice for Etan, which today, sadly, may have been lost," former Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. told The Associated Press after hearing about the reversal.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPThe court ordered Hernandezs release unless he receives a new trial within "a reasonable time period.""For more than 13 years, Pedro Hernandez has been in prison for a crime he did not commit and based on a conviction that the Second Circuit has now made clear was obtained in clear violation of law," Hernandez's lawyer, Harvey Fishbein, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "We are grateful the Court has now given Pedro a chance to get his life back, and we call upon the Manhattan District Attorneys Office to drop these misguided charges and focus their efforts where they belong on finding those actually responsible for the disappearance of Etan Patz."The Manhattan District Attorneys Office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digitals request for comment."This case highlights a broader issue in the legal system," Alpert said. "Confessions are not always reliable. Mental illness, coercion or desperation can all lead someone to admit guilt falsely. Without physical evidence to support a confession, courts must proceed with extreme caution. Understanding the psychology behind a confession is essential before treating it as fact."0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 22 Views 0 previzualizare

WWW.FOXNEWS.COMRashawn Slater becomes highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history with Chargers extensionRashawn Slater has been one of the best left tackles in the NFL, and the Los Angeles Chargers are rewarding him as such. The Chargers and Slater agreed to a four-year, $114 million contract extension, according to ESPN, which makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history. Los Angeles confirmed the deal on Sunday, though the financial details were not involved in the announcement.Slaters contract includes $92 million in guaranteed money, as well.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMSlater was heading into the final year of his rookie contract, which included a fifth-year option being the 13th overall pick in 2021.Thats what Slater was going to play on this year, with potential free agency looming after that. It was a $19 million option for the 2025 season, but the Chargers made sure Justin Herberts blindside protector was locked up long-term.RAIDERS CUT TIES WITH DEFENSIVE TACKLE CHRISTIAN WILKINS IN SHOCKING MOVE, IGNITING FEUD OVER BONUS MONEYThe pick of Slater paid off right away, as he was named second-team All-Pro during his rookie year. However, a bicep injury held him out most of the 2022 season, where hed play just three games on the Chargers line.Since then, though, Slater played a full season in 2023 and 15 games last year, when he was named to his second Pro Bowl squad. But while Slaters pass protection is key for a functional Chargers offense, Greg Romans group is heavily committed to the run game as well. Slater is also highly proficient in that aspect of the game.Slater owns a Pro Football Focus run block grade of 82.8, which ranks fifth among 140 eligible tackles. His pass block grade of 90.4 ranked him third among those 140 tackles as well.In the run game, the Chargers have rookie Omarion Hampton and veteran Najee Harris joining the fray after J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards carried the workload in 2024. Los Angeles also recently signed Nyheim Hines, who can be versatile in the pass game as well. With the Chargers ranked just 20th in total offense per game (324.2 yards), theyre hoping to build off Jim Harbaughs debut season as head coach and having Slater in the building long-term answering what couldve been a looming question heading into Week 1.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X, and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.0 Commentarii 0 Distribuiri 22 Views 0 previzualizare
