'The Hand That Rocks the Cradle' star Rebecca De Mornay says she feels betrayed after being left out of reboot
Rebecca De Mornay is not holding back when it comes to the reboot of one of her most iconic films. The actress, 65, recently shared her reaction to the upcoming remake of the classic 1992 horror film, "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," as she was excluded from the project. De Mornay claimed that nobody reached out to her about the reboot."Nobody. I found out about it, and I kind of joked that I was quite perturbed," De Mornay told the New York Post. "It felt like a betrayal, like how dare you [have] somebody else be playing that part."TOM CRUISE'S FORMER GIRLFRIEND ADMITS WHAT SHE REALLY THINKS OF HIM FOUR DECADES AFTER THEIR ROMANCEDe Mornay delivered a chilling performance as the vengeful nanny Peyton Flanders in the thriller, alongside Annabella Sciorra, Julianne Moore, Matt McCoy, Ernie Hudson and more.Despite her bold comment, the actress isnt ruling out watching the new version."Im actually kind of curious to see it, to see if they can live up to what we did," she added. Her comments come at a time when Hollywood continues to create remakes of fan favorites, instead of producing original stories.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? Thats why I really like Saint Clare. Its new. I havent seen anything like it before," she explained."Theres a kind of laziness of falling [into] Oh, well, that works. So lets just do that one again, rather than coming up with a new story. So that kind of bugs me a little," she admitted.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERA film remake that De Mornay did enjoy was "A Star is Born."The beloved musical drama has seen multiple versions on the big screen since its original debut in 1937. In 1951, the project was created for television with Kathleen Crowley and Conrad Nagel in the lead roles.Just a few years later, the story returned with Judy Garland and James Mason in the 1954 classic.Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson offered their own spin in 1976, while Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper drew in a new generation with their 2018 rendition."We tend to think a movie is one cast. I guess it doesnt have to be, if its a really good story, a good script," she said. "I guess, it doesnt have to, but I just wish that there was also more imagination with new scripts, because it feels like people are just falling back on what once were."Reps for De Mornay didnt immediately respond to Fox News Digitals request for comment.

David Letterman calls out CBS' 'pure cowardice' for canceling 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'
"The Late Show" creator David Letterman slammed CBS' decision to cancel the long-running late-night show, now hosted by Stephen Colbert, as "pure cowardice" and asserted that the network mistreated his successor by canceling the show.Appearing on his former executive producers podcast, "The Barbara Gaines Show," on Friday, Letterman who created The Late Show 32 years ago said he didnt believe the networks claim that the show was canceled for financial reasons, and he sharply criticized both CBS and Paramount for their handling of the situation."This is pure cowardice," Letterman said. "They did not do the correct thing. They did not handle Stephen Colbert the face of that network in the way he deserves to have been handled."CBS HOST POURS COLD WATER ON LIBERAL OUTRAGE TO COLBERT CANCELLATION, SAYS LATE-NIGHT INDUSTRY IS 'BROKEN'The former "Late Show" host tore into Paramount's $16 million settlement with President Donald Trump over the editing of a "60 Minutes" interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris, stating that the company "decided they didnt care about freedom of the press."Letterman theorized that Skydance Media, the soon-to-be owners of Paramount, wanted to avoid trouble with Trump by getting rid of Colbert, an outspoken critic of the president, before officially acquiring the company. He referred to the founder of Skydance, David Ellison, as "the Oracle twins" during his blistering takedown of the company."The Ellison twins, the Oracle boys, they dont want any trouble along the lines of freedom of the press or free speech or freedom of expression," he claimed. "They dont want to get their hands dirty. They dont want the government going after them, because that concept of freedom of the press and freedom of speech thats so old-fashioned."CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREIn a hypothetical conversation between Skydance's owner and CBS executives, Letterman laid out how he thought the conversation about getting rid of Colbert may have gone."So they say to the CBS people, Geez, what about that kid, Stephen Colbert? Hes always shooting his mouth off about the administration. We dont want any trouble from that guy,'" he said. "So the CBS people say, Hey, boys, heres what Im going to do. Not only are we going to get rid of that guy, were going to get rid of the entire franchise so you dont have to worry about another guy. Its gone, buddy.'"Although "The Late Show" was reported to be losing approximately $40 million a year for the network, Letterman didn't seem to believe that was an appropriate excuse to cancel the show."Heres what I know. If they were losing this kind of money, youre telling me losing this kind of money happened yesterday?" he questioned. "Ill bet they were losing this kind of money a month ago. Ill bet they were losing this kind of money six weeks ago. Or they have never been losing money."

Incoming NGA Chair 'disappointed' in Dem governors 'playing politics' in bipartisan group
Incoming chair of the National Governors Association (NGA), Gov. Kevin Stitt, R-Okla., is "disappointed" that some Democratic governors might stop paying their dues to the bipartisan group. The Atlantic reported ahead of the NGA's summer meeting in Colorado Springs, Colo., that at least two Democrats, Govs. Tim Walz of Minnesota and Laura Kelly of Kansas, plan to stop paying their dues when asked to renew their membership this month over the NGA's response to President Donald Trump's second term."We shouldn't be playing politics like they do in Washington, D.C.," Stitt told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview at the summer meeting. "But sometimes, if you're a governor running for president or a higher office, you make it political."Kelly is chair of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA), the partisan gubernatorial arm that has been vocal in resisting the Trump administration. As Walz weighs a third gubernatorial run, the former vice presidential candidate has remained a leading critic of Trump's administration since losing the White House alongside Vice President Kamala Harris last year.TIM WALZ LEADING DEM EFFORT TO TURN BIPARTISAN GROUP AGAINST PRESIDENT TRUMP: REPORTThe Democratic discontent comes as Democratic Gov. Jared Polis of Colorado prepares to cede his chairmanship to Stitt, a Republican, at this weekend's summer meeting. Gov. Wes Moore, D-Md., is set to become vice chair.DEMOCRATS FORGE STRANGE BEDFELLOWS AS PARTY FLOUNDERS IN TRUMP'S 2ND TERM"I would tell anybody, listen, do you want your leaders to take their ball and go home just because they get mad at something? That's not the way to solve problems," Stitt said, adding that he likes both Walz and Kelly."Listen, this isn't the time to take our ball and go home. Let's sit down and debate what the best policies [are] going forward," Stitt added. The Oklahoma governor said it can be "frustrating" when Democrats are constantly targeting Trump, but as a business leader, he said there are plenty of instances in which governors can find common ground, including a reduction of the United States' more than $36 trillion in debt.Ahead of the summer meeting, Eric Wohlschlegel, NGA communications director, emphasized the bipartisan nature of the NGA and told Fox News Digital the NGAs "mission hasnt changed."According to The Atlantic report, Democratic members of the NGA complained the group "did not respond forcefully enough" when the Trump administration paused federal funding early this year, as Gov. Janet Mills of Maine clashed with Trump over biological men playing in women's sports and, more recently, when Trump authorized the National Guard to California to amid the anti-ICE protests."Every public statement NGA issues reflects bipartisan consensus. So far this year, all but one statement has had that consensus, and when governors dont agree, we simply dont issue one. Thats how we preserve our role as a bipartisan convener, a principle we wont compromise," Wohlschlegel explained.Thirteen Republican and seven Democratic leaders planned to attend the summer meeting, featuring discussions with Education Secretary Linda McMahon and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.A source familiar with the situation blamed the controversy on "Democratic infighting, unspoken campaign jockeying and a few anonymous voices looking to reshape a nonpartisan institution into a political one."The source added that "no governors are on the record expressing discontent with the NGA. No allegations of misconduct, governance failure or mismanagement have been raised."And without addressing the controversy directly, Conor Cahill, a spokesperson for Polis, told Fox News Digital the governor "has been honored" to lead the NGA and to "work across the aisle with governors on education, permitting reform, standing up to federal efforts to strip away gubernatorial authority around the National Guard and elevating the priorities of states."He added that "during this polarizing time, bipartisan organizations are needed more than ever, and NGA must continue to demonstrate value to all governors and effectively communicate governors' opinions on various matters with the public and the federal government."Abegail Cave, a spokesperson for Stitt, told Fox News Digital ahead of the NGA that "people seem to forget NGA is a bipartisan organization, not a political one."Fox News Digital reached out to Walz and Kelly for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

Grenade linked to explosion that killed 3 deputies is missing, officials say
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna announced Friday that one of two grenades found in a Santa Monica townhome complex prior to an explosion that killed three deputies is currently missing. The day before the explosion, members of the sheriffs departments Arson and Explosives Detail assisted Santa Monica police after a resident reported finding "two grenade-like devices" in a storage unit in an underground garage. Luna said the devices were believed to be "inert" after an x-ray but were still transported to the Biscailuz Center Training Academy to be "destroyed and rendered safe."LA COUNTY SHERIFF IDENTIFIES THREE VETERAN DEPUTIES KILLED IN TRAINING FACILITY EXPLOSIONHowever, according to Kenny Cooper, Special Agent in Charge of the ATFs Los Angeles Field Division, one of the grenades exploded at the training center. He also said that ATF forces and local law enforcement "meticulously examined a radius of over 400 feet" from the blast site. Cooper said the investigation into the second grenades status is ongoing.Luna denied the possibility that one of the grenades "fell out" between the storage unit in Santa Monica and the training facility, saying that law enforcement is confident that "did not occur."AUTHORITIES OBTAIN SEARCH WARRANT RELATED TO EXPLOSION THAT KILLED 3 DEPUTIES AT LA COUNTY FACILITYThe sheriff did not rule out the possibility of another individual being involved and said his department and partners were investigating anyone potentially linked to the tragedy, though he did not specify how many suspects there might be."I am not ready to discuss here and now any names of any individuals that may be people of interest or anything of that nature, not yet," Luna told the press.Luna emphasized that the ATFs findings are preliminary but said the agency expects to complete its final analysis within 45 days. The July 18 explosion claimed the lives of Deputies Joshua Kelley-Eklund, Victor Lemus, and William Osborn. The three men were assigned to the Special Enforcement Bureau's Arson Explosives Detail.

Nick Offerman says hes 'not going to pick an argument' with Trump-supporter co-star Dennis Quaid
Actor Nick Offerman said last week he wasn't looking to have a political squabble with his "Sovereign" co-star Dennis Quaid over PresidentDonald Trump."Dennis Quaid is a fantastic actor whom I've looked up to my whole life, and he [is] better in this film than almost anything I've seen him in," Offerman said in aresponse on Reddit to a commenter asking about how he deals with Trump supporters like Quaid.Offerman had made an "ask me anything" post on the site inviting users to inquire about "Sovereign," his new film with Quaid about an anti-government extremist and his son, and an eventual police standoff."We didn't have a lot of time together on set, so the context wasn't really conducive to digging into settling the world's problems, or even just those of America. Good morning, Dennis. How about those Epstein files? Anyway, want to run our lines," Offerman added.ZACHARY LEVI CLAIMS SUPPORTING TRUMP MADE HIM A HOLLYWOOD OUTSIDERThe actor, famous for his role asRon Swanson on "Parks & Recreation," said he believes those who voted for the 47th president are good people, even though he disagrees with them."Dealing with Trump supporters in the world is something I try to handle with nuance, because I know many others around the states who are very good people and citizens and would give you the shirt of their back," Offerman said. "They are on the receiving end of an absolute firehose of misinformation, so it's really cognitively dissonant (impossible) to engage in rational discourse."He has said that hislibertarian "Parks and Recreation" characterwouldhave "despised Trump,"and he thinks Republicans trend toward fascism.PRESIDENT TRUMP'S HOLLYWOOD AMBASSADOR JON VOIGHT ROLLS OUT PROPOSAL TO 'MAKE HOLLYWOOD GREAT AGAIN'"I think we're all wrong about a lot of things, but the reason I lean left is because at the end of the Republican plan is austerity andliteral fascism, sad military muscle parades and mounted troops in the LA, the coolest city in the world, and all the rest of the current bed-s---tings, and at the end of the Democrat plan is health care and life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for everybody," he said.Offerman added that he wanted to work with Quaid and leave politics out."No matter who we voted for, it requires all of us (including an overwhelming number of immigrants) to make the great bounty this country produces, and is then so disproportionately pocketed by the ultra-wealthy, so I am not going to pick an argument with Dennis Quaid over our political leanings because I'm going to shake his hand and try to make a great film," Offerman said.

Jacksonville mayor says viral police punch video 'disturbing' as probe moves forward
The mayor of a Florida city where a viral video was recorded showing an officer punching a male driver in the face during a traffic stop has described the incident as disturbing and called on due process to run its course.Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan said she understands the public's frustration and emphasized she is taking a pragmatic approach to it."I understand the angst," Deegan told local news outlet News4Jax. "I understand the upset. I get all of that. But at the end of the day, lets wait and see where it all goes. Hopefully, theres a good resolution."VIOLENT ASSAULT ON OFF-DUTY NYPD ROOKIE UNCOVERS TENSIONS WITH POLICE SAFETY AND FORCE PROTOCOLSThe video, which was taken in February, began circulating on social media last week and shows William McNeil Jr. staring at the camera as an officer is seen smashing his drivers side window and demanding that he get out."Exit the vehicle now!" the officer says. The officer then strikes McNeil in the face before he is dragged out of the car and taken into custody.Theviralfootage began with McNeil talking to an officer about why he was pulled over, recounting how an officer told him his headlights were off during apparent inclement weather. In the bodycam footage released by the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office, McNeil is seen refusing to hand over his license, registration and proof of insurance.McNeil remains in the vehicleand the window was eventually smashed.Officers said they found a large unsheathed serrated knife on the driver's side floorboard of McNeilsvehicle. Deegan said that some people have expressed frustration that she hasnt expressed more outrage.DOJ CITES BODYCAM FOOTAGE IN CHARGING DOCUMENT FOR HOUSE DEM MCIVER"I am a very pragmatic thinker when it comes to how these things go, and its not to diminish whatever happened there, Im simply saying there has to be an investigative process, Deegan said. "I have faith that that process will be carried out and well see where it goes. But I cant really say much beyond that because there is a lawsuit that may happen."Deegan reminded viewers that Jacksonville has a consolidated government meaning she and the sheriff, Sheriff T.K. Waters, are independently elected and have separate responsibilities."It is my job to run the city. It is his job to run the police department."She credited Waters for releasing the bodycam video and attempting to be transparent, though she stopped short of making judgments."He shows the video. He shows the bodycam videos. However you feel about this, I think that the sheriff has come out and tried to be as transparent as he can with the process," Deegan said. "I think that I would just ask people to be a little patient.Waters said Monday while releasing alonger bodycam videoof the incident that he had instructed his agency to immediately began both a criminal and administrative review of the officers actions."These administrative reviews are ongoing, but the state attorney's office has determined that none of the involved officers violated criminal law," Waters said.Attorneys Ben Crump and Harry Daniels announced they are now representing McNeil after the video sparked "outrage across the country."They said there was a racial component to the incident, given that McNeil is a Black man and the officers are white."What happened to William McNeil Jr. is a disturbing reminder that even the most basic rights like asking why youve been pulled over can be met with violence for Black Americans," theysaid in a statement. "William was calm and compliant. Yet instead of answers, he got his window smashed and was punched in the face, all over a questionable claim about headlights in broad daylight,""This wasnt law enforcement, it was brutality. All video from JSO should be released to ensure there is transparency for McNeil and the community. We demand full accountability from the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office and justice for William McNeil Jr."

Would you ever swap human artists for AI in your playlist
Psychedelic rock band The Velvet Sundown has over a million monthly listeners on Spotify and earns thousands of dollars every month. However, the catch is that it's not a traditional band at all. It's mostly made by artificial intelligence.Their Spotify bio confirms that the group is a synthetic music project, guided by human creative direction but composed, voiced, and visualized using AI. This is a sign of where music may be headed. This revelation has sparked heated debate within the music industry. Some people see it as an exciting new frontier for creativity. Others see it as a threat to everything music has traditionally stood for: originality, emotion, and human expression.Sign up for my FREE CyberGuy ReportGet my best tech tips, urgent security alerts, and exclusive deals delivered straight to your inbox. These tools handle everything, vocals, instruments, structure, with startling sophistication. The Velvet Sundown reportedly earned more than $34,000 in a single month from streaming platforms. And it's not alone. Other acts, such as Aventhis, a "dark country" musician with over 600,000 monthly listeners, are also believed to be powered by AI-generated content. This isn't happening in a studio with a team of producers. It's often just one person inputting text and outputting tracks. The barrier to entry is nearly gone. With a laptop and internet connection, anyone can create and distribute AI-generated songs on a massive scale.WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?Major record labels are pushing back. Universal Music Group, Sony Music, and Warner Records have filed lawsuits against AI music platforms, accusing them of using copyrighted material without permission during the training process. At the same time, music creators and advocacy groups are demanding regulation. They want AI-generated tracks to be clearly labeled. They're also calling for updated copyright protections to prevent the misuse of human-created work during AI training.Streaming platforms are starting to acknowledge the issue. Deezer revealed that nearly one in five new uploads are entirely AI-generated. This trend is growing and reshaping the very idea of what it means to be a musician today. For emerging musicians, the rise of AI is deeply frustrating. Tilly Louise, an alternative pop artist based in the UK, has amassed millions of streams but still works a full-time job because her music doesn't generate enough income. Watching an AI-generated band pull in massive streaming numbers feels like being pushed aside by something that isn't even real. She's not alone in this sentiment. Grammy-winning producer Timbaland recently launched a venture called Stage Zero, which plans to spotlight AI-generated pop stars. Music schools are also adapting. Educators are now teaching students how to utilize AI tools to enhance their creative process, rather than avoiding them.Still, even those who are optimistic about the technology admit that it could completely upend the music business. As AI-generated content becomes increasingly easy to produce, the competition for listener attention and streaming dollars will intensify.Nobody knows exactly what the future will look like, but the direction is clear: AI is no longer on the fringes. It's already in the mainstream.AI is no longer just supporting music creation; it is actively creating music that listeners are streaming and enjoying. Whether it's rock, country, or pop, AI-generated songs are showing up in more playlists every day. The real question is not whether AI music is good enough. It's whether listeners will care that it wasn't made by a human.
