Trump admin offers $608M for states to build migrant camps modeled after Alligator Alcatraz
The Trump administration is offering $608 million to states willing to expand migrant detention efforts. The money, announced through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) new Detention Support Grant Program (DEP), is aimed at helping states build or enlarge temporary detention facilities modeled after Floridas Everglades compound known as "Alligator Alcatraz," according to FEMA documents."[Department of Homeland Security] Secretary Kristi Noem has been very clear that Alligator Alcatraz can be a blueprint for other states and local governments to assist with detention," a DHS spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Friday. The funding is part of FEMAs Shelter and Services Program and is open for applications through Aug. 8, per FEMAs announcement.TRUMP SAYS ONLY WAY OUT OF ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ IS DEPORTATIONThe program is intended to fast-track construction of secure, temporary detention sites on state or local land, sidestepping long procurement delays.Noem has criticized federal contractors as costly and slow, and has encouraged governors to take a more direct role."They were willing to build it and do it much quicker than some of the other vendors," Noem said of Florida. "And it was a real solution well be able to utilize if we need to."Floridas facility was built in just eight days on remote Everglades land at the Dade-Collier Airport. It holds up to 3,000 migrants and is surrounded by fencing, swamp, and natural barriers.During a July 1 visit, President Donald Trump praised it as "so professional, so well done," calling it "a model wed like to see in many states.""Were surrounded by miles of treacherous swampland, and the only way out is really deportation," he added.RED STATES CONSIDER ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ SPINOFFS AS WH URGES THEM TO FOLLOW DESANTIS LEAD: 'LOTS OF BEARS'Florida officials confirmed they are seeking FEMA reimbursement to help cover the camps estimated $450 million annual operating cost. State officials say the site qualifies for federal funding under the new grant guidelines.According to Noem, five states are currently in talks with DHS about building similar detention facilities."Weve had several other states that are actually using Alligator Alcatraz as a model for how they can partner with us," she said during a recent news briefing."I hope my phone rings off the hook from governors calling and saying, How can we do what Florida just did?"The new funding comes as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) aims to double detention capacity.ICE reported more than 56,000 migrants in custody as of June, the highest since 2019, and is targeting 100,000 beds by the end of the year, according to DHS planning materials.Funds will be distributed by FEMA in partnership with Customs and Border Protection, according to DHS' posting.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFEMA did not immediately respond to Fox News Digitals request for comment.Fox News' Greg Norman, Emma Colton, and Mara Robles contributed to this report.

Pro-life group 'elated' after Planned Parenthood shutters Houston facilities: 'Tremendous victory'
EXCLUSIVE: A pro-life group is celebrating a "tremendous victory" after Planned Parenthood announced two of its facilities in Houston, Texas, will be shutting down this fall, as Republican lawmakers continue to target the organization. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, 40 Days for Life CEO and founder Shawn Carney, a Houston resident, expressed "both personal and professional elation" at the shuttering of the facilities, including the 78,000-square-foot clinic that he said was the largest abortion facility in the Western Hemisphere."This is massive news for the pro-life movement and shows the direction that Planned Parenthood is going, which is down," Carney said.Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast which runs six clinics in the Houston area and two in Louisiana will close its Prevention Park and Southwest centers on Sept. 30, while the other Houston facilities will be acquired by the organization's largest Texas affiliate.FEDERAL JUDGE PARTIALLY BLOCKS LAW BANNING ADULTS FROM HELPING MINORS GET OUT-OF-STATE ABORTIONSThis comes amid several closures of Planned Parenthood facilities in various states, including New York, where the organization is selling its only Manhattan health center building for $39 million.Facilities in GOP-led states with abortion restrictions, including Texas, have also been forced to cease procedures following the 2022 Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe V. Wade and sent decisions regarding abortion back to the states."Now they are closing the largest abortion facility in the world," Carney said. "Their flagship. They're very proud of it in Houston, Texas. They're finally closing it, and it's unbelievable."The company cited rising costs, staffing shortages and low reimbursement rates as the reasons for closing the two Houston facilities. GOP officials in recent years have made repeated attempts to shut down Planned Parenthood, even after nearly all abortions were banned under Texas law.The Trump administration has sought to impose funding cuts to Planned Parenthood that could lead to the closure of additional facilities. A provision in a GOP-backed bill would end Medicaid payments for one year to abortion providers that received more than $800,000 from the program in 2023.A judge granted a preliminary injunction earlier this week blocking the government from cutting Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood member organizations that either do not provide abortions or did not meet a threshold of at least $800,000 in Medicaid reimbursements in a given year.Carney said 40 Days for Life has prayed and held vigils outside the Houston mega-facility since 2006."Countless people have gone out, offered alternatives. We've had pro-life buses outside to do free ultrasounds. There have been so many lives saved, but to be honest, it just seemed like they were Goliath and it didn't matter if we were David," he said, adding that the "behemoth" facility even provided late-term abortions at one point. "They were just going to always be open and always be victorious."FEDERAL JUDGE BLOCKS TRUMP ADMINISTRATION FROM DEFUNDING SOME PLANNED PARENTHOOD FACILITIESCarney described the closing of the facilities as a "tremendous victory" for the pro-life movement and said it represents "one of the biggest victories that we've had" following the overturning of Roe v. Wade."Planned Parenthood has always been very top-heavy in D.C., and that's been a weakness for the pro-life movement. But once [the court] sent it back to the states, it was sending it back to the place where the pro-life movement was the strongest, which was the grassroots," he said. The closure of the two Houston facilities shows "more than anything else" that "the pro-life movement is built for a post-Roe America," Carney said, adding that Planned Parenthood is not a "monster that can't go away.""They are very, very vulnerable. When you look at the New York closing and the Houston closing, this is what that represents. All the nonsense about other services and serving women and helping low-income women. Because when you take away abortions or you offer alternatives, they close, and they close their most prosperous locations," he said.

At the time, officers saw no signs of forced entry."The house is fortified. It has 7, 8-foot-high walls with metal spikes that are welded onto the tips of the walls there. The vehicle gate was closed, also spiked. They had no means of entering via gate code like they did on the date of the welfare check," LAPD Lt. Guy Golan previously told Fox News Digital about the July 10 response."They did request a flyover by our airship, which did happen," he added. "There were no signs of forced entry during this flyover. And, again, that the suspect entered the property without force and entry. So, there were no signs of burglary. And regarding what evidence there was in the front porch, it was not visible by air due to the foyer having a kind of a cover over it there at the front of the house. Alabama inmate's execution stayed to determine if he is competent enough to be put to death
A judge in Alabama has issued a stay for a convicted killer's upcoming execution while state officials investigate whether he is competent enough to be put to death.David Lee Roberts, 59, was scheduled to be executed on Aug. 21 for the 1992 shooting death of Annetra Jones, but Marion County Circuit Judge Talmage Lee Carter temporarily stayed the execution until it can be determined if Roberts has a "rational understanding" of what would happen to him."Or similarly put, the issue is whether the petitioner's concept of reality is so impaired that he cannot grasp the executions meaning and the purpose or the link between his crime and its punishment," he wrote in the ruling.Carter said the execution will remain on hold until the Alabama Department of Mental Health concludes its report on Roberts.EXECUTION SCHEDULED FOR TEXAS DEATH ROW INMATE CONVICTED IN 'SHAKEN BABY' CASE AS LAWYERS MAINTAIN INNOCENCERoberts was set to die by nitrogen gas, a controversial method Alabama began using last year when convicted killer Kenneth Smith was executed in January 2024.Attorneys representing Roberts argue that his death sentence should be suspended because he has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.Roberts' attorneys said in a court filing that he hears voices and is delusional, adding that he also recently attempted to burn tattoos off his arm and leg because he believed they "are trying to control his thoughts.""This evidence demonstrates Mr. Roberts is incompetent to be executed because his delusions prevent him from having a factual or rational understanding of the reason," his attorneys said. The Alabama attorney generals office is not appealing the stay, although the state has asked that the competency evaluation be expedited. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states cannot execute inmates who are insane and do not understand their upcoming execution and the reasons for it, but Alabama law does not provide a clear standard on what courts must find in evaluating a person's competency to be executed.EXECUTION DATE SET FOR FLORIDA MAN CONVICTED OF KIDNAPPING WOMAN, KILLING HERRoberts murdered Jones in Marion County on April 22, 1992, while he was staying at a house her boyfriend lived in.Prosecutors said Roberts arrived at the home, packed his belongings, stole money and shot Jones three times in the head with a .22 caliber rifle while she was sleeping on the couch. He then poured flammable liquid on her body and the floor and set the house on fire.Jurors convicted him of capital murder and voted 7-5 that he receive life in prison without parole. "I made a couple of country records and was a part of his album and went to the Country Music Awards and worked with Brad Paisley, went to Johnny Cash's house."I was getting heavy into it and finding country music is a form of hip-hop music," Snoop Dogg added. Hulk Hogan of WWE fame faced multiple health issues leading up to his death
WWE superstar Hulk Hogan, 71, died on Thursday after a reported cardiac arrest.Although there has been no confirmation of what led to the fatal event, the famed wrestler had allegedly been facing multiple health issues in the months and years before his death. In an appearance on Jake Pauls "IMPAULSIVE" podcast in September 2024, Hogan admitted that hed had 25 surgeries in the last 10 years.PRO WRESTLING ICON HULK HOGAN DEAD AT 71This included 10 back surgeries, procedures on both shoulders, and knee and hip replacements on both sides.Hogan called out the difference between todays fighting rings and the dangerous equipment of the 1970s, which he described as a 22-foot ring with "lumps" and "boards sticking up.""It was horrible," he said. "The equipment and jumping up and dropping the damn leg for 40 years, when I had the largest arms in the world I shouldve been using The Sleeper.""I probably shouldve quit earlier, but I just loved doing it and the money was just crazy."Regardless of the physical consequences of his years in the ring, Hogan stated that he has "no regrets."DR MARC SIEGEL: THE HEALTH AND TIMES OF HULK HOGANTMZ Sports reported in March 2025 that Hogan had undergone neck surgery to relieve pain, which was a "quick turnaround" that required little recovery time, according to a representative.Earlier this month, Hogan's wife, Sky Daily, squashed rumors on social media that her husband was in a coma following recent surgery, noting in an Instagram post that "his heart is strong, and there was never any lack of oxygen or brain damage."Daily revealed in her post that Hogan had been recovering from a "major four-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusin (ACDF), which is an intense surgery with a long and layered healing process.""If you look it up, youll see what the last six weeks have involved not just for his spine, but also for his vocal cords, and the eating/breathing tubes that are clamped over during surgery," she wrote in a post. "Weve been in and out of the hospital to support that recovery."In an op-ed for Fox News Digital, Dr. Marc Siegel, Fox News senior medical analyst, shared that although Hogan will not be remembered for his health struggles and surgeries, they certainly were present. Those included "his admitted steroid use in the 1990s, to multiple knee and hip replacement surgeries, to shoulder and multiple back surgeries, and finally a neck fusion operation which, by many accounts, was followed by a downhill slide in his health, culminating in a fatal cardiac arrest," the doctor wrote.OZZY OSBOURNE'S RARE FORM OF PARKINSON'S SPARKS QUESTIONS ABOUT LIFESTYLE CHOICESSiegel pointed out that Hogan came from a group of professional wrestlers who had a "high incidence" of steroid and drug use, suicide and heart disease.According to a recent University of East Michigan study, wrestlers between 45 and 54 years old were nearly three times more likely to die prematurely than the general U.S. population."And those numbers increased the older the wrestler was," Siegel added. "Many of these men didnt even make it to their 70s.""Keep in mind the physical strain of having a large, bulky frame being repeatedly slammed, combined with frequent travel and the emotional stresses of being both an athlete and an entertainer."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTERIn 1994, Hogan reportedly admitted under oath during the trial of then-WWF Chairman Vince McMahon, whod been charged with steroid distribution that he had used steroids "for over a decade" before he stopped."Hulk Hogan lived in pain for decades, but it didnt keep him from being a continuing role model for many, including in his later years," Siegel said. "He came to embody physical and spiritual vitality, and that is what he will really be remembered for."Dr. Bradley Serwer, an interventional cardiologist and chief medical officer at VitalSolution in Maryland, noted in an interview with Fox News Digital that without firsthand knowledge of Hogans medical history, the exact cause of the reported sudden cardiac arrest "remains unknown."For more Health articles, visitwww.foxnews.com/health"It was reported that he was experiencing good health until he collapsed," Serwer said. "This presentation is quite common for a heart attack with sudden cardiac arrest."The most prevalent cause of sudden cardiac arrest is a heart attack, or ischemic heart disease, the cardiologist shared."When a heart attack occurs, the heart muscle is deprived of oxygen, resulting in the death of muscle tissue," the doctor detailed. "This condition predisposes the heart to abnormal heart rhythms, such as ventricular fibrillation (Vfib)."Vfib is characterized by "rapid and irregular electrical activity that causes the ventricles [to] quiver and be ineffective," Serwer said. This results in the heart being unable to pump blood to the body, leading to a rapid death.Cardiac arrests that occur outside a hospital have a "significantly low" survival rate of about 10%, according to Serwer. For those who receive cardiac arrest response, like CPR and defibrillation, survival increases by up to 40%.
