Disney says Jimmy Kimmel's show will be pre-empted indefinitely following Charlie Kirk assassination comments
Disney is pulling ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" "indefinitely," the company confirmed to Fox News Digital."Jimmy Kimmel Live will be pre-empted indefinitely," a Disney spokesperson said.Nexstar Media Group, which owns hundreds of television stations, announced earlier it would preempt Kimmel's show on its ABC affiliates starting Wednesday night "for the foreseeable future" and would replace it with other programming over his comments about alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson."Mr. Kimmels comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located," Nexstar's broadcasting chief Andrew Alford said in a press release. "Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue," the statement continued.FCC CHAIR LEVELS THREAT AGAINST ABC, DISNEY AFTER KIMMEL SUGGESTED CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSIN WAS MAGAOn Monday, Kimmel accused conservatives of reaching "new lows" in trying to pin a left-wing ideology on 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson, even though prosecutors reaffirmed those ties in Tuesdays indictment."We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it," Kimmel said.ABC REPORTER CALLS ALLEGED CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSIN'S TEXT MESSAGES TO TRANSGENDER PARTNER VERY TOUCHINGFederal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr had issued a threat against Disney if it didn't address the controversy.Appearing on Wednesday's "The Benny Show," Carr called Kimmel's comments "some of the sickest conduct" and suggested there were potential "avenues" the FCC could pursue."In some quarters, there's a very concerted effort to try to lie to the American people about the nature of one of the most significant newsworthy public interest acts that we've seen in a long time in what appears to be an action by Jimmy Kimmel to play into that narrative that this was somehow a MAGA or a Republican-motivated person," Carr told host Benny Johnson."And I've been very clear from the moment that I have become chairman of the FCC, I want to reinvigorate the public interest. And what people don't understand is that the broadcasters, and you've gotten this right, are entirely different than people that use other forms of communication. They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest," the official added."Look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or, you know, there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead," Carr said.COMPLETE COVERAGE OF CHARLIE KIRKKimmels comments came one day after both FBI officials and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said that Robinson held a "leftist ideology" and was increasingly radicalized in recent years. It was also revealed that he had a romantic relationship with a transgender partner who was biologically male and transitioning to female.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPOn Tuesday, Kimmel took aim at Vice President JD Vance for "pointing his little mascara-stained finger directly at the left" as guest host of "The Charlie Kirk Show." Vance said on the show that most "lunatics" in American politics belong to the far left."And by statistical fact, he means complete bull---," Kimmel reacted.

Felon indicted in train murder as attacks terrorize commuters in blue city: report
A grand jury has indicted the man accused of fatally stabbing a Ukrainian refugee on a Charlotte light rail train, a case that has intensified concerns about violence on the citys transit system.According to Mecklenburg Superior Court records, Decarlos Dejuan Brown Jr. has been formally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Iryna Zarutska.Prosecutors allege that on Aug. 22, 2025, Brown unlawfully and intentionally killed Zarutska in what investigators described as a random act of violence. The indictment states the act was committed "with malice aforethought," a phrase used in North Carolina law to indicate the crime was carried out willfully and with intent.TRAIN STABBING SUSPECTS FAMILY HAS HISTORY OF CRIMES, RECORDS SHOWGrand jurors returned a true bill of indictment last week, agreeing there was sufficient evidence to move forward. The case now advances to Superior Court, with Browns next hearing scheduled for Oct. 16. If convicted, he faces a sentence of life in prison or, if sought by prosecutors, the death penalty. The indictment lists numerous Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers as witnesses, reflecting the scope of the investigation. Authorities said surveillance video captured the attack, and Brown, who has been arrested 14 times over the past 12 years and has a documented history of mental health issues, was quickly taken into custody.Brown has also been ordered to undergo a 60-day mental health evaluation at a regional hospital. The court ruled his capacity to proceed is in question despite prior local evaluations. The evaluation will determine if he can stand trial.Zarutska, who fled Ukraine to escape the war, had been working at a local pizzeria and studying English at a Charlotte community college. She was returning home from work when she was stabbed near the Camden light rail station. In a statement released last week through its attorney, Zarutskas family described her as a "kind and hardworking young woman, deeply loved by her family and friends."PAM BONDI SAYS DEATH PENALTY A POSSIBILITY FOR IRYNA ZARUTSKA KILLERThe family expressed profound grief over her sudden loss and emphasized that they want the suspect in her murder to remain in custody."We are heartbroken beyond words. Iryna came here to find peace and safety and instead her life was stolen from her in the most horrific way," the statement said. "No family should have to go through this."Their focus, they said, is on seeking justice for Iryna and highlighting what they believe is a broader issue with safety in public spaces."This could have been anyone riding the light rail that night We are committed to making sure this never happens again."Following Zarutskas death, WCNC Charlotte obtained records from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) that detail several incidents near the light rail system.Just two days after her death, on Aug. 24, a 20-year-old man reported being bitten on both arms by a suspect while riding a light rail train. On Aug. 30, another report documented an assault on a different light rail platform, where an unknown individual struck a victim in the face. According to police, an arrest was made in that case.In the early morning hours of Sept. 3, a man believed to be homeless reported being held at gunpoint and robbed, with nearly $3,000 taken from his CashApp account. A few days later, on Sept. 5, a 52-year-old woman called authorities, stating she was threatened and then forced by a suspect to make unwanted physical contact with their genital area. All the incidents were recorded as occurring in or around the light rail or trolley areas, and several theft reports were included.CHARLOTTE TRAIN STABBING SUSPECT'S BROTHER SAYS KILLING COULD HAVE BEEN 'PREVENTED'Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles addressed the issue, reiterating the city's dedication to enhancing public safety."City leaders have been working to improve safety in our community and on our transit system and we will continue to do so," Lyles wrote in a post on X.Lyles said some of the changes underway included increased security presence, adding nearly "30 additional security personnel" to the Blue Line."We are committed to working with everyone to ensure that our community continues to be safe. I believe in Charlotte, and we will come out stronger together," Lyles wrote.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPAt a recent press briefing, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said the brutality of Brown's crime has prompted prosecutors to keep all options on the table."This young woman died a horrific, horrific death, as we all saw, captured on video. It was horrible." Bondi said. "The steps are, we charge, then we indict. Then, legally, we make the decision whether or not to seek the death penalty. That is certainly on the table once he is indicted for this horrific crime."A decision on whether to pursue capital punishment is expected later in the legal process.Fox News Digital reached out to Brown's lawyer for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

House clears path for vote honoring Charlie Kirk, denouncing 'political extremism'
The House voted Wednesday to advance a resolution honoring slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, clearing the way for floor debate later this week.Lawmakers voted in favor of advancing the measure and a bill to avert a government shutdown in a joint mechanism known as a "rule vote."The rule was adopted in a 216 to 210 vote along party lines. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., who is known to be opposing the federal funding bill, was the lone lawmaker from either side to vote "present."Massie explained to Fox News Digital that he vehemently supports the Kirk resolution, but opposed an unrelated provision in the rule that blocks Congress' ability from weighing in on tariff policy.ABC REPORTER CALLS CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSIN'S TEXT MESSAGES WITH TRANSGENDER PARTNER VERY TOUCHING"Im a cosponsor of the Kirk resolution, and obviously I will vote for it, but shamefully they turned off Congresss ability to vote on tariffs with this rule," Massie said.Rule votes are procedural hurdles that commonly tie together unrelated pieces of legislation that, if adopted, allow House lawmakers to debate each measure individually before respective votes. The current rule's adoption means House lawmakers could vote on the resolution to honor Kirk on either Thursday or Friday.A vote on the measure to avert a government shutdown a short-term extension of current federal funding levels called a continuing resolution, or CR is expected Friday morning. It is not surprising that no Democrats supported the rule's adoption on Wednesday; rule votes traditionally fall along party lines and have rarely seen bipartisan crossover, even if the legislation they include has wide support from both Republicans and Democrats. And while Democrats are largely expected to buck the GOP-led government funding patch, the resolution to honor Kirk's legacy is expected to get healthy bipartisan support. The Turning Point USA founder was assassinated last week during a college campus speaking event in Utah. The resolution to honor him, led by Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., lauded Kirk as "one of the most prominent voices in America, engaging in respectful, civil discourse across college campuses, media platforms and national forums, always seeking to elevate truth, foster understanding and strengthen the Republic."SCRUTINY INTENSIFIES OVER SECURITY LAPSES SURROUNDING THE CHARLIE KIRK SHOOTINGIt also said Kirk's "commitment to civil discussion and debate stood as a model for young Americans across the political spectrum, and he worked tirelessly to promote unity without compromising on conviction," and it called his killing "a sobering reminder of the growing threat posed by political extremism and hatred in our society."Both Democrats and Republicans have released statements condemning political violence in the wake of Kirk's killing.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPThe latter measure that advanced on Wednesday evening, the CR, will keep government agencies funded at current levels through Nov. 21 of this year if it's passed by the House and Senate and signed into law by President Donald Trump. That bill includes a combined $88 million in added security funds for Congress, the judicial branch and the executive branch.Conversations about boosting lawmaker security, in particular, had been ongoing but took on new urgency after Kirk's death.

He also has world championships in the 4x400-meter relay in 2019 and the 4x100-meter relay in 2023.The sprinter has had legal troubles dating back to last year. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital in January, Kerley and his wife got into a verbal, and then physical, dispute on May 6, 2024, his birthday, when Kerley's wife was in contact with an "unknown person on Instagram."Kerley approached his wife aggressively, and she punched him out of fear, according to the affidavit. Kerley then "grabbed the victim, pushed her to the ground, encircled his arm around her neck and impeded her breathing." A probable cause alert was then entered into the jail's system, and he was subsequently charged following the January arrest. In May, Dania Beach police arrived at a south Florida hotel before 8 a.m. ET after Olympic hurdler Alaysha Johnson claimed Kerley hit her during a conditioning appointment for a meet. Kerley said he was "going to f--- everyone up in here up," Johnson reportedly said. Kerley was alleged to have hit Johnson in the face, causing her nose to bleed. Police reportedly said the injuries "were consistent with her statements."Kerley was set to run in the 100-meter dash on Saturday and the 200-meter on Sunday at the Grand Slam Track event during the weekend of the alleged incident. The event later confirmed that Kerley would not compete. Kerley had been booked on a first-degree misdemeanor charge.DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY EXPLAINS WHAT TURF TOE ACTUALLY IS, WHY IT MAY COST JOE BURROW REST OF THE SEASONKerley was a part of the 4x100-meter team in Paris that was disqualified due to a botched handoff. Lyles figured to be a part of that team but fell ill with COVID-19 earlier in the week, which contributed to him falling short in the 200 meters, an event for which he had been the heavy favorite.Kerley accused the United States Track and Field Association of playing favorites by adding Lyles to the 4x400-meter team in the 2024 world championships.Enhanced Games founder Dr. Aron D'Souza has been critical of the Olympics and sport governing bodies in the past, calling them hypocritical when it came to natural sport and athletes' health and even claiming his event will be safer."For the people who say this is unsafe or unhealthy, Id tell them that the two longest-serving sponsors of the Olympics are Coca-Cola and McDonalds, the two organizations that have done the most damage to health in human history. Theres actually no doubt about that," D'Souza said in a 2024 interview with Fox News Digital."Fast food and fake sugar have done more damage to human health than anyone in human history. You can read the history books. The rise of McDonalds and the rise of Coca-Cola have been very much attached to the Olympic movement. So, when the IOC and its cronies want to lecture me about safety, I point to their own history."The Enhanced Games are set to take place next May in Las Vegas. Former Olympic swimmer James Magnussen, of Australia, is set to compete, where rewards of up to $1 million are being offered.Follow Fox News Digitalssports coverage on X,and subscribe tothe Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
