Texas family helps rescue woman clinging to tree after being swept 20 miles downriver
One Texas family helped save a woman's life who was clinging to a tree for hours as deadly flash flooding struck Kerr County over the weekend. The woman, who was swept 20 miles downriver, caught the Jeter family's attention when she saw Carl and began to "scream for help" while he was outside on his deck."She spotted me, and she started to scream for help," Carl told "Fox & Friends Weekend" on Sunday. "At first, I couldn't locate her. I thought she was in the river itself going downstream, and I was like, Oh my gosh, and then I finally was able to look across the river at the end of the tree and I spotted her, so I began to call out to her and tell her that I see her I got you. We're going to get you some help. It's going to be okay. Just hang on.'"TEXAS RIVER FLOOD LEAVES DOZENS DEAD AS EMERGENCY CREWS RACE TO FIND OTHERS MISSING; KIDS CAMP EVACUATEDThe family was able to call for help and ultimately, Texas troopers rescued the woman from the tree after an hours-long nightmare."There were multiple teams that showed up," Josh said. "There was a Swiftwater Rescue from Bernie, Texas, team that showed, and then there were some Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens that showed with boats as well. We were able to help launch those boats by hand into the water for them to get in and rescue her.""It was just kind of you didn't think about it. You just did what you needed to do to help them get into the water to save this young lady that's clinging to life in a tree."The Jeters invited the woman into their home after the harrowing rescue. Carl said she was in "shock.""She was cut and bruised and banged up from the trek and cold," he said. "So we wrapped her in blankets and towels and got her into the house, the dry spot because it was raining outside at the time, pretty good.""She was just extremely upset, concerned, worried, and what have you."More than 50 people have been confirmed dead in Central Texas since the flash flooding began on Friday, and authorities are still frantically searching for more still missing. There are more than 27 young girls who remain missing in Kerr County who were staying at Camp Mystic, an all-girls private Christian retreat inHunt, Texas.Five young girls who were staying at thatcamp have been confirmed dead. Red states consider Alligator Alcatraz spinoffs as WH urges them to follow DeSantis lead: 'Lots of bears'
The White House and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are encouraging Republican states across the nation to follow Florida's lead and install their own versions of "Alligator Alcatraz" a remote detention facility for illegal immigrants located in the heart of the Everglades. Some red states are already warming up to the idea or already have new detention facilities in the works."We don't have alligators, but we have lots of bears. I am not aware of any plans for an Alaska version of Alligator Alcatraz," representatives for Alaska's state government told Fox News' Laura Ingraham Tuesday."Dear DHS: Weve got a swamp and a dream. Lets talk. South Carolina's gators are ready. And theyre not big on paperwork. If I was Governor, we'd be bringing Alligator Alcatraz to South Carolina," South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace posted to X on Tuesday, when Trump traveled to Florida to tour "Alligator Alcatraz."TRUMP SAYS ONLY WAY OUT OF ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ IS DEPORTATIONFox News Digital reached out to the offices of 26 Republican governors inquiring if they are considering rolling out their own versions of "Alligator Alcatraz," with a handful, stretching from Idaho to South Carolina, responding with what they have in the works.Garrison Douglas, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp's spokesman, told Fox News Digital that the Peach State "has helped lead the way in tackling illegal immigration" and recently announced plans to build the "largest detention facility in the nation.""From maintaining the longest continuous National Guard presence at the U.S. southern border of any state to banning sanctuary cities and directing the Georgia Department of Public Safety to enhance its partnership with ICE, under Governor Kemps leadership, Georgia has helped lead the way in tackling illegal immigration," Douglas told Fox News Digital Wednesday. "Furthermore, one of our private sector partners recently announced an agreement with ICE to convert a Georgia facility into the largest detention facility in the nation a move that is supported by the governor and will only bolster national efforts to detain criminal illegal immigrants and process them for deportation," he added. The communications director for Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Sam Dubke, told Fox Digital that Arkansas is building a "a new 3,000-bed prison in the state.""Governor Sanders is working hand-in-hand with the Trump Administration to deport violent, criminal illegal immigrants, which is why she signed the Defense Against Criminal Illegals Act earlier this year to put tough new penalties on illegal immigrants who commit additional crimes while in Arkansas and facilitate greater collaboration between Arkansas law enforcement and federal immigration officials, and is in the process of building a new 3,000-bed prison in the state," Dubke said when asked about a potential Arkansas version of "Alligator Alcatraz."Brandon Charochak, spokesman for South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, told Fox Digital Wednesday that the governor serves as "President Trumps chairman of the Homeland Security Advisory Council," and had just "presided over the councils first meeting this morning in Washington.""South Carolinas law enforcement and National Guard continue to collaborate and participate with federal officials on illegal immigration enforcement and deportation,"Charochak continued. "Gov. McMaster has directed state officials to continue exploring how the Palmetto States unique assets and resources can be utilized to provide additional and enhanced support in the weeks and months to come."In Idaho, Gov. Brad Little is "planning to roll out new details on Idahos efforts to support President Trumps agenda," according to his office."Gov. Little fully supports President Trumps efforts to deport dangerous illegal alien criminals," Little's press secretary, Joan Varsek, told Fox News Digital Wednesday. "Gov. Little is proud that Idaho is leading the efforts through our recent action to enter into a 287(g) agreement with ICE and the Idaho State Police to assist with transporting these individuals to ICE detention facilities in our state while they await deportation. Secretary Noem recently applauded Idahos actions in supporting the Trump administration."SELF-DEPORT OR END UP IN 'ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ,' NOEM WARNS MIGRANTS DURING TRUMP VISITTexas Gov. Greg Abbott's press secretary, Andrew Mahaleris, touted in a comment provided to Fox Digital that the state has already offered up "4,000 beds for detention.""Gov. Abbott is grateful to finally have a partner in the White House working with Texas to secure our border and stop illegal immigration. In January, Gov. Abbottdirectedthe Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Texas Facilities Commission to identify land and facilities for the federal government to use as detention space, and in February Gov. Abbottofferedthe Trump administration 4,000 beds for detention," Mahaleris said. "Texas will continue to assist the Trump administration in arresting, detaining and deporting illegal immigrants."White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller joined Fox News' Laura Ingraham Tuesday evening following his trip to Florida with Trump earlier that day and called on all Republican governors to follow DeSantis' lead and erect their own "Alligator Alcatraz."TRUMP TO VISIT 'ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ' FOR GRAND OPENING OF SWAMPY EVERGLADES DETENTION CENTER FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS"We want to go to every Republican state now, of course, in a sane country, Democrats would do it, too, but they love the illegals and they hate the Americans," Miller said. "We want every governor of a red state, and if you are watching tonight: pick up the phone, call DHS, work with us to build facilities in your state so we can get the illegals out and we can get the criminals out." White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson added in a comment to Fox Digital Wednesday that "our nation would be well-served by more facilities" like "Alligator Alcatraz.""Alligator Alcatraz is a state-of-the-art facility that will play a critical role in fulfilling the Presidents promise to get the worst criminal illegal aliens out of America as fast as possible," Jackson said. "President Trump is grateful to partner with Secretary Noem and Ron DeSantis on this important project and our nation would be well-served by more facilities like this one."Trump took a trip down to the Everglades Tuesday morning, where he met with DeSantis, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and other federal and state leaders to tour the new migrant detention facility. The property is located at a former airport that has been outfitted with sturdy tent structures to house 5,000 illegal immigrants amid the Trump administration's deportation blitz. The detention center earned its name due to its location in the heart of the Everglades, which is home to massive reptiles such as alligators and pythons.ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS TRY BLOCKING TRUMP'S 'ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ' WITH LAST-MINUTE LAWSUIT"It's known as Alligator Alcatraz, which is very appropriate because I looked outside, and that's not a place I want to go hiking anytime soon," Trump said Tuesday during his tour. "But very soon this facility will have some of the most menacing migrants, some of the most vicious people on the planet.""We're surrounded by miles of treacherous swampland, and the only way out is really deportation," the president added. "And a lot of these people are self-deporting back to their country where they came from."DeSantis authorized the construction of the illegal immigrant detention center on a 30-square-mile property in the Everglades' swamplands of MiamiDade County under an emergency order in June.FLORIDA BUILDING 'ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ' WHERE ICE DETAINEES FACE NATURE'S OWN SECURITY SYSTEMDeSantis also called on fellow Republican governors to follow his lead and build their own versions of Alligator Alcatraz in an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity Tuesday evening."All the red states, at a minimum, need to step up and do this," DeSantis said. "If all red states are doing what Florida is doing, even if its at a smaller scale, because they may be smaller, youre going to see massive numbers for the deportations, and Biden let in how many millions of people, we need these types of solutions if we want to get the job done."

Social Security Administration phishing scam targets retirees
Phishing emails and messages are among the most dangerous cybersecurity threats. One of the most common and harmful examples is the Social Security Administration phishing scam, which targets unsuspecting individuals with alarming and deceptive messages. Even the biggest data breaches and financial frauds in history started with someone receiving a phishing email. They are highly effective because of two things urgency and impersonation. You'll often see phishing emails or messages asking you to take immediate action. They create urgency to make you panic and click the link, which can install malware on your device. Scammers build this urgency through impersonation, pretending to be government agencies and threatening you with things like pending taxes, traffic violation tickets and more.I recently received an email from Charles, who almost fell victim to one of these phishing emails, which is a classic example of a Social Security Administration phishing scam, claiming his Social Security number had been suspended due to its association with money-laundering activities.HOW TO DETECT FAKE AMAZON EMAILS AND AVOID IMPERSONATION SCAMSIt's a classic phishing email, one that either wants to steal your money or infect your computer and steal your personal data. These kinds of scams are very common, and if you're not careful, they can easily fool you.Let's discuss how this Social Security Administration phishing scam works and how you can stay safe.Sign up for my FREE CyberGuy ReportGet my best tech tips, urgent security alerts and exclusive deals delivered straight to your inbox. Plus, youll get instant access to my Ultimate Scam Survival Guide free when you join myCYBERGUY.COM/NEWSLETTERIn the email received, the scammers used alarming language to create fear and urgency. It begins with an alarming accusation that your Social Security number is under investigation for links to serious crimes like drug trafficking and money laundering. Here's a portion of the message:"We are conducting an ongoing inquiry into your Social Security Number and identity due to suspected links to drug trafficking. A series of international wire transfers to accounts on the Federal Trade Commission's restricted list has been flagged. There have been reports of suspicious activities associated with your Social Security Number in Texas and New Mexico. We would like to inform you that this document contains sensitive information and should be managed carefully. The document presented here is an official communication from the Social Security Administration, authorized by the Texas Attorney General. The Texas Court has directed the suspension of your Social Security Number due to its association with money laundering activities involving your bank accounts."At first glance, the email looks official enough to cause real panic. It name-drops major authorities like the Social Security Administration (SSA), the Texas Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission to make the threat sound credible. By tying your SSN to federal crimes, the scammers are not just suggesting you might be in trouble. They imply serious legal consequences, even the possibility of arrest. This is urgency weaponized. The goal is to make you act before you think, pushing you to click a link or download a document out of fear. In that moment of panic, a person might forget the basic rules of cybersecurity.Another psychological trick the scammers use is overwhelming the reader with details. They mention multiple states such as Texas and New Mexico, wire transfers and restricted lists, all to create the impression that the situation is deeply serious and far beyond an individual's control. When people feel overwhelmed, they are more likely to submit to someone who seems to have authority and offers a quick way to "resolve" the problem, usually by clicking a link or downloading a file. While phishing emails are designed to look convincing, there are always subtle but important signs that give them away. This email did not address the recipient by name. Instead, it used broad terms like "Recipient" or launched directly into accusations without a personal salutation. Legitimate government communications almost always use your full legal name and reference specific case numbers or account details.WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?Agencies like the SSA do not suspend Social Security numbers based on a single incident, and they certainly do not send serious notices through unsecured emails. Threatening suspension due to vague, unverified "activity" is a tactic meant to bypass logical thinking and trigger fear.Although the email tries to sound formal, the phrasing is clumsy and inconsistent. Sentences like "The Texas Court has directed the suspension of your Social Security Number" are vague and improperly structured for an official legal notification.Scammers are constantly improving their tactics, but by following these steps, you can protect your Social Security information and outsmart even the most convincing phishing attempts.Scammers love to make things sound urgent, like claiming your Social Security number is about to be suspended or that you're suddenly under investigation for something serious. It's all about creating panic so you'll act before you think. Remember, real government agencies don't send scary emails demanding immediate action, threaten you with arrest or ask for payment in gift cards or wire transfers. If you get a message that feels rushed, alarming or just "off," hit pause. Take a breath, double-check the facts, and never click a link or respond until you're absolutely sure it's legit.Good cybersecurity habits start at the device level. Your information could have been leaked through a past data breach, sold by shady data brokers, or even scraped from public profiles online. Also, limit how much personal information you share publicly. If you can, consider using a personal data removal service that helps remove your data from people search sites. Christian, 'tradpop' music making 'a comeback' as conservative ideals become more popular, report says
Faith-based and "traditional" pop hits are surging on the music charts this year, as noted in a recent report.Alex Warrens "Ordinary," "a folksy melodramatic ballad about faith and love," according to Semafor, was the No. 1 song in the country this week and has been on Billboards Hot 100 for the past 20 weeks. The songs popularity isnt an oddity. Several Christian and country artists have also ranked high on the music charts this year, the report said, indicating a "political vibe shift" in American pop music since President Donald Trump took office. It stands in stark contrast to the 2024 "brat summer" trend, embraced by former Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign, where boundary-pushing female pop stars Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Charli XCX dominated the music scene, Semafor reported.BRANDON LAKE CELEBRATES GROWTH OF CHRISTIAN MUSIC AFTER LATEST GRAMMY NODSChristian artists Brandon Lake and Forrest Frank have also enjoyed more mainstream success. Lake's "Hard Fought Hallelujah" is now in its 19th week on the Billboard Hot 100 and Franks "Your Ways Better" hit its 10th week on the chart."Christian music is making a serious comeback," Billboard reported in May after the two Christian songs became the first faith-based hits in 11 years to make it on the Hot 100 chart.Country star Morgan Wallen is also wildly popular, having several hits on the Hot 100. Jeffries sidesteps question about Mamdani identifying as Asian, African-American on college application
House Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries sidestepped a question about a New York Times report that New York City Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani identified as African-American and Asian on his college application, which prompted attacks from his mayoral competitors."New York City Mayor Eric Adams is attacking Mamdani over reports that he identified himself as African-American and Asian on college application. Mamdani was born in Uganda, his parents from India. What are your thoughts on this issue? Mamdani has checked multiple boxes trying to capture what he calls the fullness of his background," Rev. Al Sharpton asked Jeffries on Saturday during his MSNBC show. "I mean, is this a real issue to you?"The article claimed that Mamdani, when asked his race on his 2009 college application to Columbia University, checked the boxes for "Asian" but also "Black or African American," in their article published on Thursday."I think to me, you know, the issue that we have to deal with in New York City, which our Democratic nominee did talk about extensively during the primary campaign, is affordability," Jeffries responded. "And particularly in many of the neighborhoods that are being overwhelmed by gentrification and wiped out by housing displacement."RESURFACED VIDEO SHOWS NYC MAYORAL HOPEFUL SAYING HE WANTS TO REPLACE PRIVATE HOMES WITH COMMUNAL LIVINGJeffries continued, "that whoevers going to be the next mayor of the City of New York really needs to articulate a concrete plan for making sure that working-class communities, including working-class neighborhoods of color, can still have a place in our great city.""The city that both of us love, but we know, is changing significantly in terms of the opportunity for working families and middle-class folks to be able to continue to call a home," he said. The New York Times' reporting was criticized by liberals, including former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann, who wrote on X, "Your absolute abrogation of the NYT standards would in a better era there have led the full range of you in management to resign. Utter failure.""Then again, if you don't realize NYT is perceived as actively campaigning against Mamdani, you're all lost anyway," Olbermann continued.CUOMO CONCEDES IN NYC DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY FOR MAYOR, CONGRATULATES AOC-ENDORSED MAMDANIThe Times' assistant managing editor for Standards and Trust, Patrick Healy, put out a lengthy statement on X the following day after receiving "reader feedback" on the article."Our reporters obtained information about Mr. Mamdanis Columbia college application and went to the Mamdani campaign with it. When we hear anything of news value, we try to confirm it through direct sources. Mr. Mamdani confirmed this information in an interview with The Times," he wrote.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREHealy explained that the New York City mayoral candidate felt limited by the options listed in the application's racial identity boxes and since he was born in Uganda, decided to write in the country on his application.Mamdani's application was made available to The Times after a cyberattack on Columbia University in late June led to some of the school's sensitive information being exposed to the hackers.Healy stated that although the outlet received the information after it was stolen in a cyberattack, "The Times does not solely rely on nor make a decision to publish information from such a source," and verified the application with Mamdani himself before publishing the story.
