A federal judge in Rhode Island issued a preliminary injunction on Thursday, blocking the Trump administration from denying federal transportation funds to states that do not cooperate with immigration enforcement authorities.Twenty Democratic-led states brought a lawsuit against President Donald Trumps administration, challenging a new Department of Transportation (DOT) policy of withholding or terminating federal funding to any state or local government that does not comply with immigration-enforcement policies.During Trumps first day in office, he issued a sweeping executive order that would deny federal funds to "so-called sanctuary jurisdictions."U.S. District Court Judge John J. A retired police detectives skeletal remains have been found inside her rural Connecticut home filled with hoarding conditions seven months after she was reported missing.The remains of 73-year-old Mary Notarangelo were discovered in February after work crews arrived at her rural Connecticut home to remove piles of trash accumulated from the retired detectives hoarding behavior, according to the Glastonbury Police Department. Notarangelo was last heard from around June 12, 2024, when she texted a friend to say she was suffering from abdominal cramps and vomiting and had fallen. Approximately three weeks later, the friend called the police to request a welfare check.CT POLICE QUASH NEW ENGLAND SERIAL KILLER RUMORS, ARREST MAN AFTER WOMAN FOUND DISMEMBERED IN SUITCASESeven months later, on Feb. 24, an environmental services crew was called to Notarangelos home to begin removing the "mountains" of garbage. Notarangelos skeletal remains were discovered after workers used a small excavator to shovel a large pile of debris from behind her front door.Authorities have not provided a reason why it took over half a year to find Notarangelos remains, though officials pointed to the large amount of trash in her home. Glastonbury police said conditions in the home were among the worst they have seen and complicated attempts to locate Notarangelo.Officials reported finding cages of dead birds, a live cat and mice within the home, which also had a terrible stench.BODY OF MISSING WASHINGTON STATE GRANDMOTHER FOUND BURIED UNDER SHED PARTIALLY ENCASED IN CONCRETE"Once inside, I observed more mountains of garbage, cobwebs and spiders," Officer Anthony Longo reported. Additional searches were conducted on July 5, July 11, July 12 and Nov. 20, but Notarangelo was never found."Its so upsetting and so sad," said Patti Steeves, a friend of Notarangelos who previously worked at the Bridgeport Police Department as a civilian employee. A new session for the Oregon House of Representatives began after a performance by two Black drag queens on Wednesday.In honor of Pride Month, Democratic Rep. Travis Nelson, the first openly LGBTQ+ African American Oregon legislator, invited Isaiah Esquire and Aqua Flora to perform for the sessions opening ceremony.The two drag queens lip-synched to Aretha Franklins "A Deeper Love" and Beyoncs "I Was Here" while wearing bright gold outfits and dancing across the room. Opening ceremonies are not the time or place for ostentatious displays of political symbols and social activism," Drazan said.Oregon's House legislature often invites performers to their opening ceremony.Nelson provided a comment to Fox News Digital defending his decision to invite the drag queens as a matter of free speech."Opening ceremonies are a normal and active part of the Oregon State Legislature," Nelson said. "Each Legislator has the right to invite guests for opening ceremonies as long as the date is available. Inviting guests is not only an established tradition here in Oregon, but also a matter of free speech and civic participation allowing the public to be part of our chamber process."He added, "That right belongs to every member of this body, and by extension, to the guests they bring. New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdanis office said Thursday that the New York City Police Department (NYPD) hate crime unit is investigating a car bomb threat made against him, despite not owning a car."After multiple death threats and racist messages, Assembly Mamdanis office is participating in an ongoing investigation by the NYPDs Hate Crimes Task Force," a statement from the mayoral candidates office read.
