"Saturday Night Live" is no stranger to poking fun at religion, but its latest sketch is drawing criticism for suggesting Vice President JD Vance may have played a role in the death of Pope Francis. The episode opened with a sentimental musical number dedicated to moms ahead of Mothers Day. The song was abruptly interrupted by a parody of President Donald Trump, played by cast member James Austin Johnson. The opening monologue of the show has consistently been focused on the president for weeks."Its me again, invading all aspects of your life," Johnsons Trump said as he took the stage. He quickly shifted the tone by commenting on the Catholic Churchs recent election of a new pope."We have an American Pope, Chicago-style, no ketchup," he joked about Pope Leo XIV, who was born in Chicago, Illinois. "But we like Pope Leo. We hope he does what we want. Thats what you want the Pope to do."SNL COMPARES TRUMP TO JESUS IN EASTER SKETCH MOCKING ECONOMY AND FAITH: 'DONALD JESUS TRUMP'The sketch took a darker turn when the parody Trump implied that Vice President Vance may have had something to do with Pope Francis death."Otherwise, Ill have to send JD back to do his thing. Trump vows to increase trade with India, Pakistan after praising ceasefire agreement: 'A job well done!'
    www.foxnews.com
U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday promised to increase trade with India and Pakistan after the two nations agreed to a ceasefire to end the conflict with each other."While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade, substantially, with both of these great Nations," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a 'thousand years,' a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir. God Bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done!!!"The fragile ceasefire was holding on Sunday after several days of intense fighting, with dozens killed as missiles and drones were fired at each other's military bases. The deal was reached after diplomacy and pressure from the U.S., but artillery fire was witnessed in Indian Kashmir within hours of the agreement.Attacks were witnessed in cities near the border under a blackout, as was the case in the previous two evenings.INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE'S EFFORT TO PULL INDIA, PAKISTAN BACK FROM THE BRINK OF WARThe fighting began on Wednesday after 26 men were killed two weeks prior in an attack targeting Hindus in Pahalgam in Kashmir. Both countries rule part of Kashmir but claim full control.Late on Saturday, India accused Pakistan of violating the agreement to stop firing and that the Indian armed forces had been told to "deal strongly" with any continued firings.Pakistan blamed India for violating the truce and said it was committed to the ceasefire.TRUMP ANNOUNCES INDIA AND PAKISTAN AGREED TO CEASEFIREThe fighting and explosions reported overnight had quieted on both sides of the border by dawn on Sunday."I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have lead to to [sic] the death and destruction of so many, and so much," Trump said in his post."Millions of good and innocent people could have died! Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions. I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision," he added. In the Indian border city of Amritsar, a siren sounded Sunday morning to resume normal activities.Officials in Pakistan said there was some firing in Bhimber in Pakistani Kashmir overnight, but there was no fighting anywhere else and no casualties were reported. The two countries have gone to war three times, including twice over Kashmir.Reuters contributed to this report.

Grieving moms dig with bare hands to unearth the dark truth behind their missing and murdered children
    www.foxnews.com
In the blistering summer heat, Cheryl Holsonbake found herself driving two hours from her home to Californias rural Kern County, where she would search with her "bare hands" any land that appeared like a shallow grave. The matriarch was joined by two other mothers in search of answers for their children."We took shovels and looked for my son there," Holsonbake recalled to Fox News Digital. "I would think if I could just search with my own hands and find him, I could bring him home. I could bring him back to his family. Thats what we would do on weekends."HARRIS FAULKNER HOSTS 'AMERICA'S MOST WANTED: MISSING PERSONS' ON FOX"People have sent us information when they wouldnt speak to detectives," she shared. "Theyve sent us what they think are clues. Weve opened our phones before and had pictures of human remains. Does this look like it might be part of your son? Who lives that life? But we stick together."Holsonbake is one of the mothers of the "Bakersfield 3." It represents three cases that were entangled with each other. The quest for answers is being explored in a new Investigation Discovery [ID] true crime docuseries premiering Sunday, "The Bakersfield 3: A Tale of Murder and Motherhood." Fox News Digital contacted the Kern County Sheriffs Office for comment."One of my sons favorite shows as a kid was Americas Most Wanted and shows where they would look for missing people he loved them," said Holsonbake. "As long as people listen to the story, were going to tell it. And it brings information to our detective."The tale of tragedy started in March 2018 when Holsonbakes 34-year-old son, Micah Holsonbake, went missing. He vanished the same month as Jane Parrents then-20-year-old daughter, Baylee Despot, whom he knew. Then, in April 2018, Diane "Di" Byrnes 38-year-old son, James Kulstad, was shot to death in his car. He shared a social circle with Micah and Baylee.Holsonbake said it was Byrne, who died in 2024 after a battle with ovarian cancer, who realized that the cases may be connected."She called me out of the blue and said, I heard your son is missing. My son was murdered. They knew each other," Holsonbake recalled. "I had no idea."FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON XAbout two to three weeks later, Baylee went missing. Holsonbake realized that her son knew her. Her husband, who had spotted missing posters for Baylee, texted the number listed. It was her mother."He told Jane, You dont know me, but I think our son and daughter knew each other," said Holsonbake. "Then we banded together."Parrent still vividly remembers the last time she saw Baylee."I gave her a quick hug in front of Matthew Queens house [the man she was living with]," she tearfully told Fox News Digital. "I just wish that hug was tighter. But in hindsight, you never know whats going to happen. But that last day, I saw her, touched her, smelled her, heard her voice."The children were all going through personal struggles during those final months. James, once obsessed with surfing, became addicted to drugs after being hit by a car in 2007 and prescribed opioids, Marie Claire reported.According to the outlet, Micah, who enlisted in the Navy after 9/11 and later became a stockbroker, also became addicted to drugs after surgery. Baylee was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and survived an overdose. She also endured domestic violence in a previous relationship.SIGN UP TO GET THE TRUE CRIME NEWSLETTERHolsonbake still grapples with guilt over the last time she heard from Micah."He called me and asked for money," she said. "I didnt have it. He got angry with me. He raised his voice at me."I hung up on him, and I never talked to him again. Ive replayed that moment a million times. . . . The last time I saw him was about two weeks before that. He was teasing me and joking. I try to focus on that because he was more himself. . . . But I dont hang up on people anymore. Be careful hanging up on your kids."According to the docuseries, the women became frustrated by the lack of information they received from the police. The investigators argued that, like with any case, they withheld key details from the public to prevent any potential evidence tampering or alerting potential suspects. The mothers took matters into their own hands. Whenever they received a tip on social media or through a phone call, they went searching. Parrent put up missing posters daily, even after they were taken down and poles were greased. If she drove by a strange-looking black plastic bag, she wondered: Could human remains be inside?"Im not a very religious person, but I have gotten closer to God, and I havent walked this path alone," said Parrent. "But its just so painful to relieve this every day. And you get so frustrated. You tell law enforcement, We got a tip to go look here. Well, we cant go search there on a tip, because that costs money and time. OK, well go do it ourselves. And weve been told to go to so many places. Ive always said, I have nowhere to look and everywhere to look.'"GET REAL-TIME UPDATES DIRECTLY ON THE TRUE CRIME HUBIn 2018, a womans leg was found in a Kern County lake, about 25 miles southwest of Bakersfield, Marie Claire reported. Parrent was certain it was Baylees. It belonged to 64-year-old Santa Ana resident Shirley Mae Cassel.A month later, a severed arm was found in a bag, weighed down with rocks. According to the outlet, Holsonbake read an article about ANDE, a company that offers DNA testing in less than two hours. The outlet noted that while bone fragments had been sent to Sacramento for DNA through the State Department of Justice, results could have taken a year or more. But just before Christmas in 2018, Holsonbake learned through ANDE that the arm belonged to her son.In 2020, Queen and Baylee were charged with Micahs kidnapping, torture and murder, Marie Claire reported. According to the outlet, investigators believed that Queen and Baylee brought Micah to Matthew Vandecasteeles garage in 2018 to question him about a firearm. Micah was accused of stealing the gun from Queen. The Bakersfield Californian reported that several people interviewed by police who knew Micah said he had grown increasingly paranoid of Queen leading up to his disappearance. Others claimed Micah owed debts to various people for drugs. The outlet noted that police had interviewed Vandacasteele while he was serving time on separate convictions. He claimed Queen asked him to use his garage to extract information from Micah. Queen and Baylee were alleged to have placed zip ties on Micahs arms, and Baylee retrieved a knife from inside the apartment. Afterward, Baylee looked shaken.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPThe outlet also noted that police discovered Vandecasteele had searched for how to dissolve a body online, days after Micah was suspected of being killed.Parrent told reporters that Baylee wasnt capable of doing anything that horrific unless "her life was in danger, or she was threatened." She argued that her daughter should be found to get answers.Prosecutors alleged that Micah had been dismembered, and that his remains were scattered throughout Kern County. His skull, found inside a bag, was retrieved in 2021.Some thought that the news would break the mothers apart. It didnt. They continued to lean on each other."I have done things I'd never thought I would do before," said Parrent. "This has made me a different person. I hope Im a better person. I know not to be afraid to speak up and call people out on whats wrong and broken. . . . Im stronger now, but sometimes you dont want to be strong. You just want to crash into the waves and have it be over. But you cant give up hope."In 2022, Queen was convicted of second-degree murder in Micahs death. KGET reported that he had been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison, plus 56 years. The rest of Micahs remains have never been found. James killing remains unsolved and is not believed by authorities to be directly connected to Micah or Baylee, Marie Claire reported. Baylee is still missing.MISSING WOMAN FOUND AFTER MORE THAN 60 YEARS, SHERIFF REVEALS WHAT REALLY HAPPENEDToday, the surviving "Bakersfield 3" moms are urging anyone with information to come forward."We need people to think to themselves, Could this tip help a mom find her daughter, find a shallow grave? Would I want someone to do this for me?" said Holsonbake. "Just come to us. Well sit and listen to you, because Ill always be searching. Well take it from there."

Tom Cruise linked to Ana de Armas after Ben Affleck romance sent her running
    www.foxnews.com
From action-packed movie roles to high-profile relationships, Ana de Armas is no stranger to the spotlight. However, the 37-year-old Cuban actress - who has recently been photographed out and about with Tom Cruise - has no interest in living a life in the public eye.During an interview with Elle in 2022, the "Blonde" star, who had a brief relationship with Ben Affleck in 2020, said the constant interest in her love life while dating the "Gone Girl" actor was "horrible.""Which is good," she added. "Thats one of the reasons why I left L.A."TOM CRUISE, ANA DE ARMAS SPOTTED STROLLING TOGETHER IN LONDON PARK ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAYDe Armas, who grew up in Cuba before relocating to Spain at 18, moved to Los Angeles when she was 26 years old, in hopes of making a name for herself as an actor and director. But she got more than she bargained for.In 2020, De Armas sparked a relationship with her "Deep Water"co-star, Affleck. The actress broke off their roughly one-year relationship because she didn't want to be Los Angeles-based, reports said at the time of the split. The actress and Affleck split in January 2021, and insiders claimed the breakup was "amicable."ANA DE ARMAS SAYS 'HORRIBLE' ATTENTION ON BEN AFFLECK RELATIONSHIP LED HER TO LEAVE LOS ANGELES"There is deep love and respect there,"a source told People magazine at the time. "Ben continues to want to work on himself. He has three jobs lined up, and hes a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives."Another insider close to the former couple added that "she broke it off.""Their relationship was complicated," the insider added. "Ana doesn't want to be Los Angeles-based and Ben obviously has to, since his kids live in Los Angeles."BEN AFFLECK, ANA DE ARMAS SPLIT AFTER ALMOST 1 YEAR OF DATING: REPORTOne year later, de Armas confirmed that building a life in Los Angeles was just not in the cards for her."Going through it [myself] confirmed my thoughts about, 'This is not the place for me to be," she told Elle. "It became a little bit too much. Theres no escape. Theres no way out. Its always the feeling of something that you dont have, something missing. Its a city that keeps you anxious."In an effort to escape public scrutiny, the "No Time to Die" star said she intentionally stays away from the internet.ANA DE ARMAS SEEMINGLY ADDRESSES RUMORS THAT SHE'S DATING EX BEN AFFLECK AGAIN: 'I DON'T THINK SO'"I deleted Twitter years ago," she told Elle at the time. "I have barely been on Instagram for almost a year."Most recently, however, de Armas and Cruise, who are reportedly collaborating on a project, have been spotted together in London on several occasions over the past few months, fueling rumors of a potential romance.Speculation began to swirl when the pair were photographed together for the first time on the night before Valentine's Day.On Feb. 13, the two were pictured walking through London's Soho neighborhood as de Armas carried what appeared to be takeout bags of food from a restaurant. The two stopped for photos with fans before leaving in a taxi together.A source later told People magazine that Cruise and the "Ghosted" actress had dined out with their agents, saying they were "discussing potential collaborations down the line." The insider claimed that Cruise and de Armas "appeared to haveno romantic connection" and were "just friends."However, the duo further fueled dating speculation when they were again photographed together on March 14 as they arrived at the London Heliport by helicopter at night.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERWhile speaking with People, a source said that Cruise and de Armas echoed the statements made about them, and insisted they are collaborating on an upcoming project, but are not romantically involved.According to the insider, director Liman also accompanied the two on the trip, but further details about the project were not disclosed. The 62-year-old actor and de Armas were most recently seen chatting as they walked down a path in a London park on the "Knives Out" star's 37th birthday last week.In a photo and video captured by a bystander and shared on X, Cruise was seen wearing a white polo t-shirt with dark blue jeans while de Armas sported a light-colored t-shirt with jeans, white sneakers and a brown crossbody bag.Cruise walked next to de Armas with his hands behind his back and was holding what appeared to be an olive green dog leash with a pouch. The pair were accompanied by another woman as well as security guards during their outing.Celebrity matchmaker Alessandra Conti previously told Fox News Digital that she doubts the relationship between Cruise and de Armas is actually platonic, noting the two are both guarded about their private lives."Since his devastating and public split with Katie [Holmes], he has kept a low profile when it comes to his personal life. However, his new relationship with Ana de Armas could be his big comeback into being in a celebrity power couple," Conti said."As a matchmaker in Beverly Hills for nearly 13 years, it is clear that Tom was gravely affected by the public nature of his relationship with Katie and was gun-shy and incredibly private with any other potential romances since the split back in 2012."TOM CRUISE AND ANA DE ARMAS FUEL ROMANCE RUMORS AFTER STEPPING OUT IN LONDON AGAIN"The fact that he was seen publicly with Ana is a huge deal," Conti added. "My celebrity clients know exactly how to keep their love lives under wraps if that is their desire. So, this is a clear indicator that he is feeling secure about the potential of this romance, though sources are saying that it is merely because they are in a film together."Even if they are simply working together, as a celebrity matchmaker, I believe this couple is incredibly compatible for a number of reasons and do think that this could be a lasting Hollywood match if they give it a chance to blossom."Fox News Digital's Janelle Ash and Ashley Hume contributed to this report.

What started as a way for a pair of two Illinois detectives to crowdsource tips to solve decades-old cold cases ended in a shocking discovery.Detectives Andrew Houghton andMatt Vartanian were looking to breathe new life into unsolved cases by launching the true-crime podcast, "Somebody Knows Something," in October 2024 at the request of Elgin Police Department Chief Ana Lalley. Their goal centered around using modern investigative technology to potentially bring closure to local families."We both kind of looked at each other and said, No, I'm not really sure that's for us," Vartanian told Fox News Digital. "Then we took a step back, were open-minded in our thinking and objective, and thought that this could be a really good vehicle to utilize investigative processes within law enforcement."MISSING WOMAN FOUND AFTER MORE THAN 60 YEARS, SHERIFF REVEALS WHAT REALLY HAPPENEDThe pair combed through open cold cases within their area, zeroing in on the disappearance of 23-year-old Karen Schepers in 1983."Our thought was, depending on whatever case we started with or if we did multiple cases, there may be people that are outside of Illinois and outside of our region that might have known about some of these cases," Vartanian said. "So it was the right thing to be able to get that information out there to be able to get answers for the victims and families."Schepers was enjoying a night of celebratory drinks with coworkers atP.M. Bentleys in Carpentersville, Illinois located 45 miles outside Chicago.Schepers was the last of the group to leave the bar at approximately 1 a.m.onApril 16, 1983, and neither she nor her1980 Toyota Celica wereever seen again, according to the Elgin Police Department.BODY OF MISSING WASHINGTON STATE GRANDMOTHER FOUND BURIED UNDER SHED PARTIALLY ENCASED IN CONCRETEEven though the community had countless theories of what may have happened to Schepers, including the possibility something happened to her on the way home or when she arrived at her destination, the case ran cold.Schepers disappearance remained an open investigation for 41 years, and was briefly revisited by the Illinois State Police in the late 1980s and again by investigators in 2010."In 2008 [and] 2009, we did a bunch of billboards for that case and tried to generate media interest," Houghton told Fox News Digital. "A lot of DNA was put into the national databases that were kind of new on the scene at that time, so that was the new technology then."FOX HOLLOW SERIAL KILLER'S SECRET TAPES COULD REVEAL MURDER HORRORS IF EVER FOUND: DOCUMENTARYDespite the multiple attempts to solve what happened to Schepers, detectives were unable to follow any major leads, until the department launched "Somebody Knows Something.""When we started to look at the Karen Schepers case, we realized that we could put everything out there because we had no idea what happened to her,"Vartanian said. "Whether it was an accident or if it was something intentional, and then anything in between. There was so much time that had gone by,we knew that there was a lot of content that could be there."With permission from her family, Houghton andVartanian began digging for new information regarding Schepers, using a mix of old-fashioned police work while leaning on updated technology.MISSING WISCONSIN TEEN FOUND MORE THAN TWO MONTHS AFTER DISAPPEARANCE"This was very much an old-fashioned talk to people, get in a car, go knock on doors, go drive around type of investigation," Houghton said. "Investigations for any of our cases are still like that, but this was much more like that in the fact that we had to go look and see what roads existed in 1983? What bodies of water existed in 1983? Because it's very different now than it was then."The pair hit the pavement, talking to locals in the area who knew Schepers to paint a picture of her final moments on the morning she went missing. Houghton and Vartanian worked to determine what route Schepers took home, along with researching the weather conditions and other details that may have contributed to her disappearance. As the detectives were pouring over print media, they discovered the nearby Fox River was flooded at the time of Schepers disappearance a key break in the case that prompted them to call in expert divers to search the body of water.LUXURY FLORIDA MALL'S STRING OF MURDERS AND KIDNAPPING HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON: RETIRED FBI AGENT"Interestingly enough, we would get a lot of tips from people that were saying, 'There's no way she's in the river," Houghton said. "It's too shallow, I fish there, I boat there. However, there are different parts where the river might be two feet deep or one foot deep, and there are other spots where it's [up to] 15 feet deep, so it really depended on where you were looking."On March 24, 2025, the Elgin Police Department called in Chaos Divers, a non-profit team of independent divers specializing in underwater recovery, to search the river. In a dramatic end to a four-decades-long mystery, Schepers and her vehicle were found."As we each heard the news that her car was found, time stopped while we drew an audible gasp," Schepers family said ina statement. "When it started back up again, our lives took a new path that finally included the answer to Where is Karen? This question has been haunting all who knew Karen for many years."'DATING GAME' SERIAL KILLER'S RISE TO FAME WAS KEY TO HIS DOWNFALL, ARRESTING OFFICER REVEALS FOR FIRST TIMEThe divers were able to recover Schepers vehicle while keeping the structure intact, allowing investigators to use dental records to identify her skeletal remains."With this case, it was a bit of a unicorn in the fact that we had no idea what happened to her," Houghton said. "Don't be afraid to fail, dont be afraid of looking foolish. Because at the end of the day, the goal is to find this person and we did that in this case. If we do this five more times and this is the only time it works out, so be it. But if you do this five or 10 times, and you find one case or solve one case, it's totally worth doing that for that family."Houghton andVartanian are already planning on the next case to revive in the second season of their podcast, telling Fox News Digital it will likely be a homicide investigation.Houghton and Vartanian were able to provide her 90-year-old mother with two items recovered from her vehicle hersapphire birthstone ring and class of 1977 high school graduation tassel providing a sense of closure for Schepers loved ones as the mystery surrounding her disappearance finally comes to a close."We hope for continued success on each and every cold case," Schepers family said. "Miracles do happen."
