Top House Dems say they'll join GOP to quash Trump impeachment effort
Top House Democrats said Wednesday they will join Republicans in blocking a House-wide vote on impeaching President Donald Trump."I have said before from this podium, this is not the right approach we should be taking," House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., said at his weekly press conference. "I'll join members of the leadership team in voting to table that motion."Aguilar called the push by one lawmaker within his caucus a "distraction" from Democrats' messaging that Republicans are trying to gut Medicaid via Trump's "big, beautiful bill" a narrative the GOP has pushed back on.ANTI-ABORTION PROVIDER MEASURE IN TRUMP'S 'BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL' COULD SPARK HOUSE GOP REBELLIONDemocrats are scrambling after Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., stood on the House floor Tuesday and invoked a maneuver that effectively forces House leaders to take up a piece of legislation within two House working days.House Republican leadership has opted for a vote on Wednesday evening to table the measure, a procedural motion that, if successful, would block a House-wide vote on impeachment.Thanedar acknowledged his colleagues' concerns about his move during his own press conference Wednesday morning, though he insisted it would not deter him."Even some Democrats call me a lunatic, just like the president has called me lunatic," the Michigan Democrat said."But they have never said, nobody has said to me, Mr. Thanedar, the seven articles of impeachment that you presented to the U.S. Congress, theyre a piece of s---. They're not good. You missed it, missed the point. They are not legally right.' They didn't do that. No one says that."However, Aguilar said hours later that it was not the right time to push an impeachment effort."This is such an impactful moment, and our colleagues are locking themselves in a room for 24 hours to protect and defend healthcare. We shouldn't be talking about this proposal that is not right, not timely," Aguilar said, referring to the House Energy & Commerce Committee's meeting on budget reconciliation, which has been ongoing since 2 p.m. Tuesday."This president is no stranger to impeachments, he's been impeached twice. Impeachment is a tool that can be used, but it takes weeks, months to do. Right now the issue of the day is, will hill Republicans stand up and support healthcare in this country?"MEET THE TRUMP-PICKED LAWMAKERS GIVING SPEAKER JOHNSON A FULL HOUSE GOP CONFERENCEWhen reached for comment on Thanedar's push on Tuesday, White House spokesperson Liz Huston told Fox News Digital, "Every action taken by President Trump and his administration is fully lawful and firmly rooted in the will of the American people. President Trump is doing exactly what he promised: securing our border, bringing in trillions of dollars in investment to America, and restoring common-sense leadership.""Meanwhile, Democrats are once again showing where their true priorities lie siding with illegal immigrants over the safety, security, and well-being of hardworking American citizens. This desperate impeachment stunt is nothing more than a reckless political act that the American people see right through," the White House said.No Republican is expected to vote to proceed with impeachment.

Judge orders release of Georgetown researcher arrested by ICE after allegedly spreading Hamas propaganda
A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the release of Badar Khan Suri, theGeorgetown University postdoctoral researcher detained by immigration officials in March for allegedly spreading propaganda in support of Hamas.Federal Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles issued her order from the bench during a court hearing in Virginia, saying that the government presented no evidence to refute Suri's claims that he was being punished for his views on the war in Gaza.Suri, who is married to an American citizen, was being held in federal detention in Texas following his arrest.Suri, an Indian national in the U.S. on a student visa, was accused of "actively spreading Hamas propaganda and promoting antisemitism on social media," a senior Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official said in a statement in March.MILWAUKEE JUDGE INDICTED FOR HELPING IMMIGRANT EVADE ICE FACES UP TO 6 YEARS IN PRISON"Suri has close connections to a known or suspected terrorist, who is a senior advisor to Hamas," the DHS statement continued. DHS did not name the suspected terrorist or Hamas advisor.Secretaryof State Marco Rubio determined on March 15 that Suris activities and presence in the U.S. "rendered him deportable" under the Immigration and Nationality Act, the senior official said. The act is a rarely used legal statute that gives Rubio sweeping power to deport those who pose "potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States."Suri was duly granted a visa to enter the U.S. to perform doctoral research on peace building in Iraq and Afghanistan, a Georgetown University spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News following his March arrest.Fox News' Bill Melugin contributed to this report.

Noem dismisses Jeffries' warnings as DHS considers arrests of Democratic lawmakers after ICE facility clash
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is pushing back against warnings from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed it is considering arrests of Democratic lawmakers who allegedly clashed with federal officers outside a ICE detention center in Newark, N.J.Jeffries strongly criticized the potential arrests, calling them a "red line" the department should not cross."Theyll find out," Jeffries said, warning DHS against targeting elected officials for what theyve described as oversight. But Noem dismissed his comments, saying political threats would not interfere with law enforcement duties.FOX NEWS GOES INSIDE NEW JERSEY ICE FACILITY STORMED BY DEMOCRATS"This wasnt oversight. This was committing felonies," the secretary said during an appearance on "Jesse Watters Primetime" Tuesday night. "I cant believe they act like this, and then defend it."The controversy stems from an incident last week in which several House Democrats from the Garden State attempted to enter an ICE facility without prior clearance. According to DHS, when access was denied, tensions escalated, resulting in a physical altercation between lawmakers and ICE officers."We had members of Congress assaulting law enforcement officers," Noem said. "They were cooperating with criminals to create criminal acts, and then they're saying that they were providing oversight."WHITE HOUSE BLASTS DEMS CROSSING THE LINE BY STORMING ICE FACILITYA DHS press release described the lawmakers as having "stormed the gate" of the detention facility, calling the event not just a political stunt but a serious threat to officer and detainee safety. "Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said. She added that the department would have facilitated a formal tour had the lawmakers followed proper protocol. DHS also released information about some of the migrants currently being held in the facility, with many facing charges in the United States or abroad for homicide, drug trafficking and possession of a weapon.ICE FACILITY DEMOCRATS 'STORMED' HOLDS CHILD RAPISTS, MURDERERS: OFFICIALS"What are they [lawmakers] trying to do?" questioned Noem. Bodycam footage of the arrest shows him being led away in handcuffs.Baraka, who is running for New Jersey governor as a Democrat, denies he did anything wrong.NEWARK MAYOR ARRESTED AS DEM CONGRESS MEMBERS STORM NEW JERSEY ICE PRISON TO CONDUCT OVERSIGHT VISITNoem stopped short of confirming whether the members of Congress involved will be arrested. She reiterated that her department would uphold the law and continue their mission of making sure those who enter the country illegally or obstruct enforcement face consequences. She also emphasized that decisions about prosecution will be made by the Justice Department."The fact that a member of Congress punched them, hit them, body-slammed them and then claimed that they were the victims," she said. "It's astounding to me that someone would even vote for someone and put them in a place of leadership when they perpetuate something as hypocritical and as criminal as what these individuals did."AGITATORS CLASH WITH POLICE, ARRESTS MADE AS CLERGY MEMBERS DESCEND ON NEWARK ICE FACILITYNoem also called for possible congressional censure of the lawmakers involved. "Whats happening in this country and what agendas the Democrats are embracing is absurd and it's not American," she said."I'm hoping that the American people recognize it and hold them accountable for what they're doing for criminal acts against people in this country."

CNN panel loses it after Kevin O'Leary calls Kamala Harris a 'loser'
A CNN panel lost it on Tuesday after Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary called former Vice President Kamala Harris a "loser," and admonished the Democratic Party for failing to run a primary after former President Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race."Now we're going to talk about it. They did not run a process. They picked a loser, and she lost, and she got slaughtered because they didnt run a process," O'Leary said to the panel on Tuesday.CNN political commentators Bakari Sellers, Karen Finney and podcast host Van Lathan quickly pushed back on the notion as the panel discussed members of the party who rallied around and defended Biden after the debate, as well as boosted Harris as his successor after he decided to exit the race."First of all, like, lets just make sure that we maintain some respect for Kamala Harris," Lathan said. Finney agreed, saying of the former vice president, "I think referring to her as a loser is disrespectful. I think that we need to make sure that we have a little bit of dignity."BIDEN AIDES ALLEGEDLY FRETTED THEN-PRESIDENT WOULD NEED WHEELCHAIR IF RE-ELECTED, NEW BOOK REVEALSCNN political commentator Scott Jennings brought the conversation back to Biden, and said he basically disappeared after exiting the race."He did show up at the convention, but from the point at which he dropped out of the campaign, he basically disappeared. And then after Election Day, between that and the inaugural, he really disappeared. And I just think there are legitimate questions about it," he said."At that point, if he was not fit to run for office, I argued at the time he was not fit to serve in the office at the time, yet he was. He was not in the public eye. Decisions were being made, monumental policy decisions were being made. And I still want to know, who was making them?" Jennings added.Sellers agreed that Jennings deserved those answers before defending Harris."Theres nothing about Kamala Harris thats a loser. Lets just put a pin on that," Sellers said.BIDEN'S TEAM HID THE TRUTH ABOUT HIS HEALTH ALL ALONG: WH PRESS SECAs O'Leary continued to argue that Harris was "slaughtered" in the election, Finney accused him of being disrespectful."Im not being disrespectful! Im talking facts! She got slaughtered because they disavowed the process. Dem lawmaker seethes RFK Jr's 'legitimacy' as HHS secretary has 'expired' in heated exchange
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman got into a heated exchange with Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday, which culminated in the New Jersey Democrat declaring Kennedy's "legitimacy" as a health official has "expired.""The impact of reorganization is something that I shall continually ask you to show me," Watson Coleman said as she grilled Kennedy about overhauls at the agency that have affected programs related to minority and low-income health. "So please let me warn you now. And I don't want rhetoric, I want numbers.""I welcome those inquiries," Kennedy responded."The other thing that really troubles me, sir, is LIHEAP [Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program]," she continued. "It is a program specifically to address the needs of low-income and minority families as it relates to heating and even air conditioning. Why, why, why, why and what is your rationale for eliminating that program specifically? Why, why, why?"WASHINGTON POST PRAISES TRUMP HHS REPORT ON TRANS SURGERY FOR CHILDREN, SAYS IT MAKES STRONG CASE FOR CAUTIONKennedy attempted to respond, saying: "I'm very committed to LIHEAP. My brother ran a .""I don't care about your past," Watson Coleman said. "I care about your functioning in this department and this administration, right now, in response to this question.""My time has expired," Kennedy responded.TOP TRUMP ADMIN HEALTH OFFICIALS SHARE VISION FOR HHS TO 'MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN'"Well, then so has your legitimacy," Watson Coleman shot back. "I yield back."Watson Coleman was grilling Kennedy in the House Appropriations subcommittee Wednesday morning regarding staff cuts to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which assists low-income families to power their homes.Kennedy responded to her question after their five-minute exchange expired, explaining that the Trump administration's energy policies will lower costs across the board, including for low-income families."I'm very conscious of the importance of LIHEAP to poor people all across this country," Kennedy said. "My brother ran a low-cost, nonprofit fuel company for most of his life that provides low-cost fuel in New England. I've had many, many people come up to me and said, My life was saved because that. I talked about Buu Van Nygren, who's the president of the Navajo Nation, when I visited about three months ago, and he said cuts to LIHEAP will end up killing people. So I understand the importance of this."The Office of Management and Budget's rationale "was that President Trump's energy policy is going to reduce dramatically the costs of energy in this country," he said. "And if that happens, then LIHEAP is just another subsidy to the oil industry. If it doesn't happen, then Congress is welcome, and they should, appropriate the money for LIHEAP and I will spend it."MAHA MOMS CALL FOR RIGOROUS TRANSPARENCY INTO HEALTH CONCERNSEarlier in the pair's five-minute exchange, the New Jersey lawmaker accused the Trump administration of carrying out "racist attacks.""Few things enrage me more than the racist attacks I see this administration carrying out by embarking on an ignorant crusade to rid the government of any programs that are working to improve the lives of Black Americans," she said, as she railed against the administration overhauling federal policies focused on diversity, equity and inclusion and critical race theory initiatives. "The administration has moved to ban the words Black, race, bias, minority, oppression, prejudice, discrimination, disparity and racism.""Any grant application on federal programs that include these words had them immediately stripped," she claimed, adding that such policies worsens the health care system for Black Americans. "It is painfully clear to me that this, in doing this, this administration that you work with and work for is attempting to legitimize racial discrimination. And that, sir, is a moral disgrace."HHS DOWNSIZING BEGINS AMID RFK JR. 'MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN' PUSH: 'WIN-WIN FOR TAXPAYERS'Kennedy shot back that President Donald Trump shares the same vision for the nation as Martin Luther King Jr."Congressman, President Trump's vision of this country is the same as Martin Luther King's, that we should have a colorblind administration," he said. "President Trump is deeply concerned about the maternal health crisis and the fact that Black mothers, are more likely to die in childbirth 2.6 times, 260% likely to die."Watson Coleman responded, "I don't need this rhetoric about Donald Trump and the lie that he cares about me and Black people."Kennedy will head to the Senate side of Congress later Wednesday afternoon, when he will testify before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee regarding HHS' budget and recent staff cuts.
