West Point cadet turned Army veteran honors brother lost in 9/11 attacks through Mets game tribute
As communities across the U.S. mark the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that shook the nation, thousands of families continue to grieve the personal losses of their loved ones. One Brooklyn family is honoring the legacy of their son and brother, Jimmy Quinn, who died at 23 in the North Tower, by attending the New York Mets game against the Texas Rangers on September 12. This event will serve as a dedicated and fitting tribute to the young finance professional who tragically lost his life while at work."Jimmy crammed more life in his short 23 years than most people do in a lifetime," Joe Quinn, U.S. Army veteran and brother of Jimmy, told Fox News Digital.ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2001, US EXPERIENCES THE WORST TERRORIST ATTACK IN AMERICAN HISTORY"Its an energy that is hard to live without, even 24 years later," he said of his late brother, who he added was a Mets superfan.Jimmy graduated from Manhattan College in the Bronx the year before his death. Quinn said he passed his Series 7 exam a couple of weeks before Sept. 11, 2001."His whole life was ahead of him, and he loved it," Quinn said. "He used to say I work on top of the world and thats the way he felt about the way his life was getting started."At the time, Quinn was a senior at the United States Military Academy in West Point, where he described cadets, including himself, usually moving like clockwork.SURVIVOR OF 9/11 SHARES UNPARALLELED STORY OF RESILIENCE, BRAVERY WHILE FLEEING 78 FLOORS OF NORTH TOWER"I remember that morning, things were off," Quinn said. "Cadets were whispering when cadets typically dont whisper."Quinns roommate called out to the Corps of Cadets within earshot that the Twin Towers were on fire."The first tower collapsed, the South Tower, and my heart just fell," he said. "I was so busy at West Point at the time, I didnt even know which tower he was in. When the North Tower collapsed, that was probably the hardest part of it. Its kind of, your brain sort of knew that he was most likely in there, but your heart didnt want to believe it."Quinn recalls the planes impact on the World Trade Center looking like "tiny holes compared to the size of the towers."TRUMP, HARRIS SHAKE HANDS IN SHOW OF UNITY AT GROUND ZERO FOR 9/11 COMMEMORATIONIn the days following the assault on America that killed nearly 3,000 people, Quinn said his dad, a retired NYPD officer, "had the dining room table like it was a police precinct.""Slowly, each day, it became more and more dreadful and, like so many other families, we never found any of his remains," he said."It sounds crazy to say, but even to this day, there's that .00001 percent of your brain that has this slight hope because there was never really evidence," Quinn added. "He kind of disappeared for us."Quinn graduated from West Point in 2002 and deployed to Iraq in 2003.9/11 SURVIVOR RECOUNTS HAUNTING ESCAPE FROM 81ST FLOOR OF WORLD TRADE CENTER TOWERHe said that, citing his circumstances, Quinn's parents and West Point offered to relieve him of active duty."I wasn't going to hear any of that," he said. "To say I was a perfect cadet my senior year would be a lie. I really struggled just getting through that year, but thank God I did."Quinn trusts his calling was to serve alongside his brothers in arms both back then and today."I lost a brother, but my wife lost her brother in Iraq," he said. "We lost thousands of soldiers overseas and there are a lot of families that lost their brothers because they raised their right hand to serve their country after 9/11."As a managing director at Drexel Hamilton, a 100 percent veteran-owned and operated investment bank, Quinn embraces his day job as a way of honoring his brother."We do very normal, boring investment banking stuff, but we also have a mission of hiring veterans," he said.He also serves as a member of the Museum Visionary Network Leadership Council at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum."They were a huge part of my healing and my familys healing," Quinn said. "His name on the pole is where we go to pay our respects."

DAVID MARCUS: DEI is the modern Democrat patronage scam
Back in the old days, cigar-chomping, big-city Democrat politicians would sit in smoky back rooms and hand out patronage jobs for their supporters. The ward leaders nephew would get a cushy no-show appointment to the water commission and the wheels of politics were greased.Today, much of this blatant corruption has been weeded out, but the modern Democrats have found a new, more subtle and much more lucrative way to pay off their allies. It is called Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.DNC MEMBERS RALLY AROUND PRO-DEI RESOLUTION: 'THESE ARE AMERICAN VALUES'During the Biden administration, the Department of Education alone spent $1 billion on DEI, and that's just one federal agency. In almost every blue city and suburb in America, local and statewide efforts pour even more money into diversity programs.Every person who has ever sat through a corporate training session knows exactly what the taxpayers are getting in return for this fortune being funneled to DEI experts and organizations: absolutely nothing. These hucksters are handed millions by Democrats just for putting together a few Power Point presentations about privilege theory, modes of whiteness, or trans visibility. Boss Tweed and the gang at Tammany Hall would be in awe.The corrupt union boss used to just get a nice beach house. These DEI people are building corporate headquarters. One interesting difference between the old corruption and the new is that it used to largely be men in politics giving men in the trades easy jobs to curry favor. But with DEI, it is more often women in politics giving women in the diversity industry jobs.CNN's Van Jones touched on this the other day in a way that all but gives up the game."So far, 300,000 Black women have lost their jobs since Trump became president," Jones said. "For decades and decades, Black women were not very welcome in the halls of corporate America. Everyone knew that. So over the years, many of our best and brightest Black women instead proudly went to work in the public sector."Note that Jones was not making an argument that these jobs are needed, but rather that they exist as a kind of work program for Black women. He went on to say, "Black women with multiple advanced degrees near perfect records as voters respected roles in their churches and sororities and homes in their own names are facing bankruptcy, foreclosure and economic disaster."Now, not all of these jobs have been in DEI, but a whole lot of them have been. And here Jones is all but admitting that this is specifically designed to benefit Black women who, by the way, just happen to be the most reliable Democrat voters in the universe.Over the past several years, the American taxpayer, to say nothing of almost every corporation in the nation, has spent Scrooge McDuck-level money on DEI, but has there been one single success story? One organization that can credibly say, "We are way less racist now?"Democrats just seem to naturally assume that any time spent talking about the evils of racism and how horrible White people have been and continue to be is time well spent, even more so if they can throw lots of money at it.But increasingly, as Jones makes clear, it seems that the purpose of DEI is not really to solve racism, something progressives dont actually think is possible anyway, but rather to create patronage jobs for loyal voters.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONIn perpetuity. It is regrettable that thousands of people have invested years of university and professional careers in a DEI industry that has turned out to be a badly failed experiment. But the American people dont want it, and they certainly dont want to pay for it.There may have been a time when you could look at DEI and say, "OK, let's try it," but that time has passed. This approach to diversity has only made race relations worse, and at this point, to continue to fund it on the taxpayers dime can only be called corruption. The smoky back rooms of yesteryear may have given way to alfresco espresso martinis in our modern age, but a patronage job is a patronage job, whether it's sitting in a crow's nest watching a cargo ship get unpacked, or making posters about unconscious bias. The Trump administration is right to tackle DEI on the federal level and every state and locality should do the same. It's not just a waste of money, it is corruption in action.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM DAVID MARCUS

9/11 families celebrate 'historic, landmark decision' in long-running Saudi Arabia lawsuit
Family members of 9/11 victims celebrated on Wednesday a court victory they said brings them one step closer to holding Saudi Arabia accountable for its alleged role in the 2001 terrorist attacks.Brett Eagleson, whose father, John, was killed in the attacks, said during a press conference in New York City the judges "historic, landmark decision," issued two weeks ago, to move forward with a long-running lawsuit against the Saudi Arabian government was based on "indefensible evidence.""There were at least 13 Saudi government officials connected to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. They were working and operating in and out of the Saudi consulates and the Saudi embassies," Eagleson said. "There were funneling support from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Washington, D.C., to their embassies in San Diego, to the hijackers handlers, right down to the hijackers themselves."COURT THROWS OUT PLEA DEAL FOR 9/11 MASTERMIND KHALID SHEIKH MOHAMMED, TWO OTHER TERRORISTSEagleson also named two people who he alleged were part of an "advance team" sent by the Saudi government to assist the Islamic extremist group al Qaeda in plotting the attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people. Saudi Arabia has denied the claims."It's been 24 years of pain and anguish and fighting for our families. What happened to this community, what happened to America that day, was horrific. However, what's happening currently and what's been happening for the past 24 years has been an abomination," Eagleson said of the drawn-out legal fight.MILITARY APPEALS COURT RULES DEFENSE SEC AUSTIN CANNOT RESCIND 9/11 PLEA DEALSJudge George Daniels of the Southern District of New York said in a 45-page decision that a person could reasonably infer that the two individuals had some knowledge that they were supporting the plane hijackers who perpetrated the deadly attacks on the World Trade Center towers and Pentagon. Daniels said evidence also showed the pair were following instructions from senior officials in the Saudi embassy and that the court has jurisdiction to examine the merits of the plaintiffs' claims that the Saudi government had a hand in planning the attacks."Some of the disputed facts cannot be resolved at this stage of the litigation, because weighing the evidence or assessing witnesses credibility will need to take place at trial," the judge wrote. "Nonetheless, the entire body of undisputed facts, and the Courts preliminary assessment of certain disputed facts, are adequate for the Court to conclude that the exercise of subject matter jurisdiction is appropriate here."Daniels decision means the two-decade case is likely headed for trial, a point Eagleson made during the press conference."This is what we've all known for 20 years," Eagleson said. "It's time for America to learn what we've been fighting. This is the best thing that we can do for the memories of our loved ones is lets stand up for whats right and just and lets have truth accountability and closure."The attacks on Sept. 11 were carried out by 19 suspects associated with al Qaeda, led at the time by Usama bin Laden. They hijacked four commercial airplanes in the United States, crashing two into the twin towers in New York City, one into the Pentagon and another into a field in Pennsylvania. The 19 died in the attacks. Five others were charged in military tribunals and are being held at Guantanamo Bay.

Diabetes study reveals diagnosis gap affecting millions of people
Nearly half of adults worldwide who are living with diabetes dont even know they have it, leaving millions vulnerable to dangerous complications.A sweeping new study, published in the journal The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, examined data from more than 200 countries between 2000 and 2023, tracking how well health systems identify, treat and control the condition.Researchers analyzed how many people with diabetes are undiagnosed, untreated, receiving suboptimal care or achieving optimal blood sugar control, broken down by age, sex, location and year.CUTTING OUT ALCOHOL AND MEDICATING SOONER COULD PREVENT 'SILENT KILLER,' EXPERTS SAYThe researchers found that about 44% of people aged 15 and older with diabetes remain undiagnosed."Many people would not have signs or symptoms until their diabetes is very advanced, and many people are not going to the doctor often or at all for lab work," Tanya Freirich, a registered dietitian nutritionist in North Carolina, told Fox News Digital. (She was not involved in the study.)Most diagnosed patients, roughly 91%, receive medication, but less than half manage to get their blood sugar under control. That means only about one in five people worldwide are effectively managing their disease.Young people are the most likely to go undiagnosed, despite facing serious long-term risks, such as heart disease, kidney failure, blindness and nerve damage, according to the study.SUGAR IN DRINKS LINKED TO HIGHER DIABETES RISK THAN THAT IN FOOD, NEW RESEARCH FINDSGeography plays a powerful role in diagnosis rates. In wealthier countries like the United States and Canada, diagnosis rates are higher, though challenges remain in long-term management of the disease. In lower-income regions, particularly in parts of sub-Saharan Africa, fewer than one in five people with diabetes are aware they have the condition.Lead author Lauryn Stafford, a researcher at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, said these numbers should set off alarms for governments and health systems worldwide."By 2050, 1.3 billion people are expected to be living with diabetes, and if nearly half dont know they have a serious and potentially deadly health condition, it could easily become a silent epidemic," she said in a press release. The study also suggests that treatment itself often falls short. Prescriptions alone dont control blood sugar, as researchers warn that health systems must also focus on monitoring, education and lifestyle support. For some people with prediabetes, early treatment as well as moderate lifestyle changes can return blood glucose (blood sugar) levels to a normal range, effectively preventing or delaying type 2 diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTERIt is difficult to be exact about the number of people who are undiagnosed, experts say."Those are data points that are unable to be confirmed until diagnosed," Frierich said. "While I do not doubt the accuracy of the tool [used in the study], there may be unknown factors that are not included in the model."MORE IN HEALTH NEWSThe dietitian recommends that everyone has a semi-regular health check. She also noted that increasing fiber intake with whole, unprocessed, plant-based foods like vegetables and nuts as well as stayingconsistently active can reduce the risk of diabetes and help to regulate blood sugar.

NC Republicans lay into Dems over Charlotte murder, crime policies: 'She died because of our complacency'
North Carolina Republicans excoriated Democrats on Wednesday for "soft on crime" policies that they say led to the murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte.GOP leaders from across the state gathered in Charlotte for a press conference on Wednesday, highlighting their plans to reform city and state crime policies. Kyle Kirby, chairman of the Mecklenburg County GOP, urged Americans not to shirk away from the footage of Zarutska's slaying."Don't look away. Don't turn your heads. Don't shut your eyes. Watch it. Because she had no choice but to look evil in the face," Kirby said. "Her final moments were moments of terror, pain and loneliness. While no one was able to lift a hand on that car to help her, you can see the killer walking away with his knife dripping blood in chilling indifference.""What the Democrats call restorative justice looks like Iryna Zarutska's murder. The suffering of you and your loved ones for their gain. Shame on the Mecklenburg County justice system. You failed to incarcerate an individual who had been arrested previously 14 times. Shame on the civic leadership of Charlotte. You failed to protect the very people you swore to serve. And shame on Mayor Lyles. You failed to offer anything other than platitudes and pandering instead of real, meaningful leadership," he continued.CHARLOTTE MAYOR SCORES PRIMARY RE-ELECTION VICTORY AMID NATIONAL BACKLASH OVER GRUESOME TRAIN MURDERKirby recounted that Zarutska arrived in the U.S. as a refugee fleeing the war in Ukraine. He also encouraged residents to attend a candlelight vigil on the one-month anniversary of Zarutska's death."She made her way from that country to Charlotte seeking refuge and promise, and she was given the edge of a knife," he said. "She died because of our complacency and what we have allowed to perpetuate in the Charlotte and municipal and county governments."UKRAINIAN WOMAN WHO FLED WAR STABBED TO DEATH AT CHARLOTTE LIGHT RAIL STATIONKirby's message is one that also has taken root nationally, with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance pointing to Democratic policies like cashless bail, which they say allows dangerous criminals to roam free.Vance on Wednesday pinpointed former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, who had attempted to criticize Republicans for using Zarutska's murder to score "political points.""The murder of Iryna Zarutska is a horrible tragedy and we must do everything we can to keep people safe. Only a cynical DC insider would think it's acceptable to use her death for political points, especially one who supported cutting funding to law enforcement in NC," Cooper wrote on X.Vance then replied, "Law enforcement arrested this thug 14 times. It wasnt law enforcement that failed. It was weak politicians like you who kept letting him out of prison."Trump also called for Decarlos Brown Jr., the suspect in the case, to face the death penalty on Wednesday."The ANIMAL who so violently killed the beautiful young lady from Ukraine, who came to America searching for peace and safety, should be given a Quick (there is no doubt!) Trial, and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY," Trump posted on Truth Social. "There can be no other option!"

MSNBC corrects former contractor's false claim that Israeli forces killed Gaza boy during aid distribution
MSNBC issued a correction Tuesday after the network aired a false claim that a young Gaza boy had been killed by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) during a humanitarian aid distribution.MSNBC amplified claims from former Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) contractor Anthony Aguilar, a 25-year U.S. Army veteran and retired Green Beret lieutenant colonel, who said on air that he saw a boy he called "Amir" gunned down by IDF forces outside a GHF distribution site on May 28. The child has since been found alive, and GHF sent a letter to MSNBC urging an update."All In" host Chris Hayes told viewers he had "good news" to share but did not mention Aguilars earlier MSNBC interview."An update on a different story we covered here, this one from the end of July. You may recall in our coverage of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the role played by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. We played a sound bite of that Senator, Chris Van Hollen, speaking with an eyewitness, a U.S. veteran who was working for GHF as a contractor at an aid site in Gaza," Hayes said.EXCLUSIVE VIDEO REVEALS GAZA BOY, SAID TO BE KILLED BY IDF, IS ALIVE"In that conversation, Anthony Aguilar relayed a story of one specific young boy who, just after he was able to collect life-saving food, Aguilar said was struck down and killed by gunfire from the IDF," Hayes continued. "We noted at the time that the Gaza Humanitarian Fund [sic] denied Aguilars allegations. But now we can report the little boy he spoke of was, in fact, not killed."Hayes told MSNBC viewers that the GHF last week held a news conference to announce they had found the child, and he had not been shot."NBC News producers confirmed the boy is alive, and has been evacuated outside Gaza with his mother," Hayes said.Hayes only mentioned Aguilars comments that were aired on his program via Sen. Van Hollen, but MSNBC also conducted an Aug. 2 interview with Aguilar in which he amplified his false claims on "The Weekend: Primetime."MSNBC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital when asked if "The Weekend: Primetime" will also issue an update.ISRAEL SAYS UN MISLEADS WORLD AS GAZA AID STOLEN AND DIVERTED FROM CIVILIANSLast week, the eight-year-old whose real name was confirmed by the GHF to be Abdul Rahim Muhammad Hamden, but who goes by "Abboud" and his mother answered questions provided by Fox News Digital through a GHF translator, in which the pair appeared excited ahead of their planned extraction from the Gaza Strip.Aguilar claimed that he and the boy had a touching moment where Abdul kissed his hand and then his face in apparent thanks for the food supplies. The former Green Beret said that the boy then ran back to the group of other Palestinians who were shortly after forced to leave the aid site after pepper spray, tear gas and stun grenades were employed, he claimed in hisinterview with MSNBC.Aguilar who was employed as acontractorfor UG Solutions, a subcontractor for GHF then said he heard shots fired after the Palestinians had left, and upon reaching the scene, he found Abboud and others had been shot by the IDF.FOX NEWS CHANNEL FINISHES SUMMER 2025 TROUNCING ABC, NBC, CBS IN PRIMETIMEThe GHF, who terminated Aguilars contract in June, launched an investigation at the end of July to try and locate the identity of the boy and uncover what happened.Through their investigation, which relied on speaking with localPalestinians, they eventually tracked down Abbouds mother and her son.The identities of Abboud, his mother and other relatives were verified by GHF by using facial recognition software that compared the images of the boy with those captured by Aguilar, along with biometric data shared with Fox News Digital.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News Digitals Caitlin McFall contributed to this report.
