Marlon Wayans vows to be an 'equal-opportunity offender' in 'Scary Movie' comeback
FIRST ON FOX: When Marlon Wayans announced that a new "Scary Movie" was being made, fans were thrilled yet nervous that the franchise would lose the edginess it had in the early 2000s. Wayans quickly put those fears to rest in a new interview. The "Scary Movie" films are politically incorrect parodies of some of the most iconic horror movies in recent years. The likes of "Scream," "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "The Ring" were a few brutally skewered by the "Scary Movie" cast. The films featured disability humor, jokes about race, body image and much more.Wayans, who played Shorty Meeks in the first "Scary Movie" and its 2001 sequel, was pumped about the series returning."After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what theyve been asking for a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!" he wrote on X in the announcement last October. "Were looking forward to having fun on the big screen again."COMEDIAN MARLON WAYANS REJECTS CANCEL CULTURE, SAYS IT ONLY EXISTS IN SOCIETYS MIND'"Please dont go woke," was the common refrain from fans cautiously excited about the franchise returning. No need to fret, according to Wayans."Well the Wayans, we were always woke-ish," Wayans told Fox News Digital. "You have to pull from woke because that means you're aware, right? And you have, but you have to be an equal-opportunity offender and you gotta be, you know, you gotta explore both sides. So for us, I'm not taking a side or taking a side of comedy. So I don't even know what woke means."He analyzed the rest of his comedic work in the context of wokeness."You know, if you call 'In Living Color' a woke show, but it was absolutely hilarious," he continued. "'White Chicks' was kind of a woke movie, but it was absolutely hilarious. We take these things and we go 'Don't Be A Menace' was a very woke movie. But when it comes to humor, it's not about woke. It's about you explore the woke to find the humor, just as the way you explore the blind to find the humor. You know, there's humor everywhere. And I think they're saying, don't be PG or PC. You know, there's no holds barred. Take your gloves off and F us up. That's what we're gonna do. Everybody gets it."WHITE CHICKS STAR MARLON WAYANS PUSHES BACK ON CANCEL CULTURE, VOWS TO NEVER SELF-CENSORAs for what recent horror movies he's hoping to poke fun at in the next "Scary Movie," Wayans said, "Everything's on the table."And he said there's plenty of solid material to pick from."Especially when it comes to horror, there's been a that genre has been flourishing," he said. "I think you know I feel like the synapse that we're having, we're about to enter a whole new era, you know, the platinum era of filmmaking. I think when things die down, is because you know you need to find that new well of creativity and that new up-and-coming talent and the old talent that has new ideas that knows how to execute. And they just bring it to a whole 'nother level and that's what I'm looking forward to, man."The actor said he's hoping to have some good news for fans wanting to see the original cast back in action."You know, we're trying to bring the band back together," he responded. "We'll see. I can't make no promises. But, you know, if we've talked to everybody we're looking to have a nice, fun, 'Scary' reunion."AIRPLANE! AND SCARY MOVIE' DIRECTOR RIPS CANCEL CULTURE IN COMEDY: WE DONT WANT TO TRY TO EDUCATE'The Wayans' family's "no holds barred" humor was evident in another early 2000s classic, "White Chicks." While Marlon noted that people have tried to "cancel" him and his brother Shawn for years for starring in the film, he challenged those critics by pointing out which demographic most enjoyed the movie."Every time we bring a Wayans project, we're always gonna have that flavor," he told Fox News Digital. "That's just who we are. We're equal opportunity offenders, no holds barred. And we have fun and we go dark, but with kids' gloves. And the whole purpose is not to hurt feelings, it's to actually make people laugh. And even the people that, and our thing is, we try to make the people that we make fun of laugh the loudest. 'Cause flattery is the greatest form of mockery. I mean mockery is the greatest form of flattery.""And so, they've been trying to the internet or whatever and trying to cancel us for 'White Chicks' forever, but you can't," he added. "You know why? You know who loves 'White Chicks' the most? White chicks. So we told the joke the right way. And that's just how we do our family humor."Wayans is currently on his Wild Child tour, stopping in major cities across the country. Fans can get tickets at www.marlonwayans.com. He also has a comedy special, "Good Grief," currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

Alana Honey Boo Boo Thompson says she was Mama June's 'little moneymaker' during drug addiction
Behind Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompsons pageant dresses and charismatic personality was a little girl navigating a storm of chaos, emotional neglect and her moms drug addiction. In her new Lifetime biopic, "I was Honey Boo Boo," Thompson pulls back the curtain on the trauma she endured while growing up in the spotlight, beginning at the young age of 6."For me, its not about fame, and its not about the money," she said. "Honestly, my story is simple. Its about a mom and a daughter and breaking the cycle of emotional abuse."ALANA 'HONEY BOO BOO' THOMPSON CLAIMS SHE'S NEVER SEEN A DIME OF MONEY MADE FROM TLC REALITY SHOWThompson was the star of multiple reality television shows, including "Toddlers and Tiaras," "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" and "Mama June: Family Crisis."Now 19 years old, Thompson revealed how her on-screen confidence concealed the harsh reality of constant criticism and family struggles, particularly with her mother, June "Mama June" Shannon."My mama put men, money and eventually even drugs ahead of me," Thompson began her biopic, narrating the movie.Thompson rose to fame during her breakout on "Toddlers & Tiaras," which would eventually lead to her spinoff, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."She recalled the moment she stopped being a daughter and became a dollar sign to Mama June.A scene in her biopic showed Thompson being scouted for the TLC series."The cycle of pain started even before I could recognize it. It started when my mom looked at me, and, for the first time, she just didnt see me. She saw her own potential," Thompson remarked. As the former child star continued to vie for her mothers attention, her reality show, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," became an "overnight hit.""Everything was going well for us. Young and nave me loved every minute of it. Mama told me over and over again how important I was to her, and I loved being her little moneymaker. It made me feel special. This was our thing, and I finally gave her something no one else could."However, Thompson confessed that feeling quickly took a turn."But with all the money coming in, things were changing. And the truth of who Mama really was, wasnt far behind."Behind closed doors were forced smiles and silent tears, and the biopic highlighted how fame nearly ruined the familys foundation. The biopic continued to highlight bitter fights, cheating allegations and the life-changing moment when Thompsons family, including her father, "Sugar Bear" Thompson, was involved in a car crash in 2014.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERAfter the familys car collided with a truck, Mama June decided she was going to leave Thompsons father. In "I Was Honey Boo Boo," a scene shows the family moving to Georgia, and the actress who portrayed Mama June announces she had bought a home for "a quarter of a million dollars" all because of her "little moneymaker."Thompson went on to share her roller coaster of a life and recalled the moment Mama June was absent from her life.Once their reality show was canceled, Thompson admitted, she "felt lost" without it."But now that I wasnt mamas little moneymaker, she didnt need me anymore," she remarked."It was hard, it was definitely a big change for me, going from my mom being there 24/7 to not being there at all. At the time, I didnt understand that her love was only transactional."However, in the "I Was Honey Boo Boo" biopic, there is a moment where things started to take a positive turn for Mama June. The movie briefly highlights her 300-pound weight-loss journey, going under the knife before her new reality show, "Mama June: From Not to Hot."As the dramatic transformation may have been seen as positive by fans, it made Thompson feel worse about herself. As pounds were shed, a darker side of her mother emerged, one Thompson had trouble understanding as a young girl.Thompson started to ask herself if she needed to lose weight too.MAMA JUNE REVEALS SHE SPENT ALMOST $1M IN FINAL YEAR OF ADDICTIONThe pressure to match her moms "glow up" left Thompson questioning her own self-worth."The glow up that Mama had, as a young girl, it made me think you needed to have surgery to look good," she reflected. As a child who admittedly struggled with weight, she couldnt help but wonder, "Do I look OK? My mama looks good now."While "Honey Boo Boo" dealt with another dramatic life change, she later revealed that she discovered just how deep her mothers drug addiction ran.Mama June wasnt just battling weight; she was battling drugs."I didnt get why mom chose drugs over me," Thompson recalled, recalling a time she was explicitly warned not to tell anyone about Mama Junes drug habit."If someone finds out, youll be taken away from me and sent to foster care," the actress who portrayed Mama June says in the biopic.Thompson described the deep, quiet fear instilled in her by her mother.Things quickly spiraled out of control. With Mama June slipping deeper into addiction, Thompson was forced to live with her sister."I was scared to find out that my mom might die," she admitted. "I was scared for her but worried that shed die."MAMA JUNE ADMITS TO A $2,500 PER DAY DRUG HABIT IN EMOTIONAL PLEA TO REUNITE WITH HER KIDSIn 2019, Shannon and her boyfriend, Geno Doak, were arrested on suspicion of drug possession after a dispute at an Alabama gas station. Details about what drew police to the gas station were not released at the time. Doak had a lengthy criminal history that included arrests for theft, burglary and criminal damage to property. The couple had been dating for three years.Around this time, Shannon began selling her belongings and eventually her home. This was also when she lost custody of Thompson. In 2020, on the family's latest reality show, "Mama June: Family Crisis," they began to discuss a path for her to return to Thompsons life. Thats when she dropped the big confession about her past drug habits."The only reason I sold the house we was dead f---ing broke," she explained. "Because, you know, at that point, we was doing quite a bit. I mean, it was a couple ounces a day. Our habit was $2,500 a day, if not more."Mama Junes drug abuse had not only threatened their lives but also their financial security.Despite earning hundreds of thousands of dollars from the show, Mama June allegedly blew through it all.Thompson claimed in a recent interview with People that despite starring in the popular show, she's never seen any of the money from it.She also alleged that her mother took $35,000 from her earnings during her appearance on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2019, only returning the money recently but without any apology.LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? Im done with Mama June," Thompsons character says in the biopic, acknowledging she was no longer the little girl trying to prove her worth.Thompson says she was under immense pressure from an early age to generate income, forced into a role she never asked for.The former child star is now a rising junior in college, studying nursing and living in Colorado with her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, 24.While her mother is five years sober, Thompson previously opened up about how difficult it was to forgive her."[Forgiveness] was hard, but, at the end of the day, shes my mom. When she was bad in her addiction, I just kept thinking about the day shed recover. Were going pretty good. Hopefully it lasts. I just no longer have any expectations for her."Mama June did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment."I Was Honey Boo Boo" premieres on Lifetime May 17 at 8 ET.

Five mainstream media figures who ran for office as Democrats
Political reporter Hanna Trudo is considering running for Congress in New Hampshire as a Democrat. If she did take the plunge, it would make her the latest mainstream media figure to seek office on the Democratic ticket. Here are five other mainstream media figures who campaigned as Democrats for office, or at least made an attempt.CNN political analyst John Avlon announced last year that he would leave the network to defeat Donald Trump and "his MAGA minions" by running for Congress as a Democrat in New York's First Congressional District in Long Island."Right now, our democracy is in danger. This election is not a drill," Avlon warned at the time.JOURNALIST TURNED POTENTIAL HOUSE CANDIDATE SAYS FELLOW DEMOCRATS 'KEEP LOSING' BY FAILING WORKING CLASSWhile he went on to capture the Democratic nomination, he lost the general election to Rep. Nick LaLota, R-N.Y., by more than 10 points.Avlon, the former editor of the liberal Daily Beast, was known for hosting a "Reality Check" segment on CNN that skewed heavily to the left.Former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera made an ill-fated Democratic primary challenge in 2020 to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., in New York's 14th Congressional District.Running as a more moderate candidate who opposed the Green New Deal and universal health care, she was routed by the far-left Ocasio-Cortez in the primary, getting just 18.2 percent of the vote.Caruso-Cabrera spent more than 20 years with CNBC, serving as the financial network's chief financial correspondent as well as co-anchor of "Power Lunch." She also lost her bid for the Democratic nomination for New York comptroller in 2021.AOCS CONSTITUENTS WEIGH IN ON PRESIDENTIAL RUN, RECALL HER STUNNING 2018 POLITICAL UPSETOcasio-Cortez upset longtime Rep. Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary in 2018 before cruising to victory in the deep-blue district that November. She's now one of the leaders of the Democratic Party and is even rumored as a 2028 presidential candidate despite being only 35.Longtime New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof briefly left the newspaper in 2021 after a 37-year run to run for Oregon governor on the Democratic ticket."I am confident we can do better as a state. I do think thats going to require vision and leadership and sending a different kind of leader to Salem," he told a local outlet at the time.Unfortunately for him, his New York ties wound up haunting his candidacy.Kristof was deemed ineligible early in 2022 after the state Supreme Court ruled he didn't meet Oregon's three-year residency retirement. Kristof had voted in New York in 2020, calling his ability to meet the requirement into question before the Supreme Court's decision ensured he wouldn't make the ballot.TRUMP SURPRISES 104-YEAR-OLD WWII VETERAN WITH BIRTHDAY MESSAGE AFTER VIRAL TIKTOK INVITEKristof returned to the Times later in 2022 and has been there ever since.Former ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd long claimed to be an independent, but the mask came off officially in 2021 when he briefly ran for Texas lieutenant governor as a Democrat.Dowd, a straight, White, male Christian, wrote in 2018 that straight, White, male Christians should not pursue power in order to make space for minorities."I would humbly suggest that we as White male Christians take it upon ourselves to step back and give more people who dont look like us access to the levers of power," he wrote, adding, "As a White male Christian in America, I am part of a dwindling subset that has held the levers of power politically and economically in nearly every field for the entire history of the United States."Dowd's run in an attempt to oust Republican Dan Patrick didn't last long. He dropped out after less than three months, saying enough diverse candidates had emerged on the Democratic side that he should step aside. Democrat Mike Collier ultimately lost the race by 10 points to Patrick.TRUMP SAYS COMEY KNEW 'ASSASSINATION' MEANING BEHIND DELETED SOCIAL MEDIA POSTDowd spent 13 years at ABC News as a political analyst before leaving in early 2021, where his "independent" claims were often criticized given his obvious preference for Democrats. Dowd, who served as chief strategist for George W. Bush's 2004 re-election, left the Republican Party during Bush's second term over his disillusionment with the GOP.Dylan Ratigan, a former CNBC journalist who went on to host an eponymous show for MSNBC, mounted a run for the Democratic nomination in New York's 21st Congressional District in 2018.Ratigan didn't come close, finishing far behind winner Tedra Cobb, who went on to lose the general election to Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y.Of course, going from a journalism background to a political campaign isn't solely the domain of Democrats.Republican Kari Lake, who now serves in the Trump administration, was a news anchor in Phoenix before making unsuccessful runs in Arizona for governor and U.S. Senate in 2022 and 2024.

Trumps Middle East trip handed Israel a historic opportunity if it chooses to act, experts say
TEL AVIV As President Donald Trump wrapped up his high-stakes Middle East tour on Friday, many media outlets portrayed his decision to bypass Israel as evidence of a rift with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. However, while Air Force One did not land in Israel, experts say Trumps visit advanced policies that align closely with Israeli interests and presented a strategic opportunity that Jerusalem has yet to seize.Avner Golov, vice president at MIND Israel and a former senior director of Israels National Security Council, told Fox News Digital, "Israel sees a massive wave approaching to sweep across the Middle East a wave of momentum and change. The decision it faces is whether to ride it or be crushed beneath it."TRUMP MAKES HISTORIC UAE VISIT AS FIRST US PRESIDENT IN NEARLY 20 YEARSThroughout the visit, Trump emphasized points that directly reflect Israeli priorities. On Tuesday, he condemned the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks, called for Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords and warned Iran over its nuclear ambitions. On Wednesday, he even extended the normalization initiative to Syria. When asked aboard Air Force One about skipping Israel, Trump said, "This is good for Israel. Having a relationship like I have with these countries... I think it's very good."In Doha on Thursday, Trump went further, stating: "I want to see [Gaza] be a freedom zone. And if its necessary, I think Id be proud to have the United States have it, take it, make it a freedom zone."According to two Arab officials quoted by The Times of Israel, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff told mediators in Doha that Washington does not intend to pressure Israel into ending the war in Gaza aligning with Prime Minister Netanyahus firm stance. On Friday, President Trump was asked in an interview with Fox News Chief political anchor, Bret Baier on Special Report, if he was frustrated with Netanyahu. Trump responded, "No, look, he's got a tough situation. You have to remember there was an October 7th that everyone forgets, it was one of the most violent days in the history of the world. Not the Middle East, the world, when you look at the tapes. And the tapes are there for everyone to see."A readout released on Thursday by the State Department of a call between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Prime Minister Netanyahu, also showed continued support for the Jewish state."The Secretary stressed the deep U.S. commitment to its historic relationship with Israel and the ironclad U.S. support for Israeli security," adding "The Secretary and Prime Minister discussed Syria following President Trumps historic meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Saudi Arabia. The Secretary and Prime Minister also shared their mutual commitment to make sure Iran never possesses a nuclear weapon."TRUMP SIGNS AGREEMENTS WITH QATAR ON DEFENSE AND BOEING PURCHASESChannel 12 chief political correspondent Amit Segal told Fox News Digital, "There is an uncomfortable experience from an Israeli perspective to see Air Force One flying over us on its way to countries, some of which are outright hostile and others semi-hostile. If you are not at the table, you are on the plate.""But this isnt personal. Its not about Netanyahu and Trump," Segal added. "Trump has full support for Israel but when American interests come first, he acts accordingly. Its America First."Dan Senor, host of the podcast "Call Me Back" and a former state department official, agreed that despite headlines suggesting tension, policy tells a different story."Theres always noise in the press," Senor told Dana Perino, co-anchor of Fox News Channel's "America's Newsroom." "But policy right now is very strong. Were seeing maximum pressure on Iran, no public criticism of Israel even as dozens of Israeli tanks are positioned near Gaza."TRUMP SAYS HE'LL DROP SANCTIONS ON SYRIA IN MOVE TO NORMALIZE RELATIONS"What I found problematic in past administrations especially under Obama was when private criticism became public," Senor added. "That gave others a green light to pile on Israel. This administration, even if it disagrees, isnt airing it. And that matters most."On Friday, in a proclamation marking Jewish Heritage Month, Trump stated, "I believe there has never been a greater friend to the Jewish people than my Administration. We will never deviate from our conviction that anti-Semitism has no place in the greatest country in the world. As the 47th President of the United States, I will use every appropriate legal tool at my disposal to stop anti-Semitic assaults gripping our universities. We will proudly stand with our friend and ally, the State of Israel. I will never waver in my commitment."Tamir Haiman, former head of Israels Military Intelligence and now director of the Institute for National Security Studies, said the Israeli government feared being caught off guard."This is a player so strong that sometimes, without intending to, he can throw a small player off the field like a giant whos spinning and accidentally knocks someone out of his way with his shoulder," Haiman told Fox News Digital. However, he emphasized that the developments in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Syria are not inherently bad for Israel unless the government fails to act."The missed opportunity here is enormous," he said. "There were two major levers Israel had Israeli consent to U.S. arms deals with Saudi Arabia and American consent to lifting sanctions on Syria. Both could have been used to advance key Israeli interests: normalization with Saudi Arabia and ensuring Syrias development follows a non-jihadist path. And we [Israel] lost both."TRUMP SAYS US HAS GIVEN IRAN PROPOSAL FOR NUCLEAR DEALThe sense of urgency grew last week when Trump abruptly paused U.S. airstrikes on Iranian-backed Houthis just days after a missile landed near Ben Gurion Airport. Reports soon followed that Washington had dropped its demand for Israeli-Saudi normalization as a prerequisite for a U.S.Saudi nuclear pact a strategic goal long championed by Netanyahu.Reuters later confirmed the shift. Meanwhile, Saudi officials made clear that progress on the Palestinian issue remains a prerequisite for any nuclear deal something seen as unlikely while the war in Gaza continues."After the Saudi story, where we were thrown under the bus, I said we need to stop and investigate," Haiman said. "We shouldnt just say its the presidents whims. We need to ask, What depends on us? What needs to change? Im not sure theyre doing that."The sharpest potential rift remains Iran. Jerusalem views a nuclear-armed Tehran as an existential threat. Haiman calls this "a historic window" to stop it, by force if needed. "The American interest is to finish wars, not enter them, and to seal a deal better than Obamas," he said, warning that a diplomatic track pursued over Israels head could soon limit Israeli military options.Mondays release of 21-year-old American-Israeli Edan Alexander, freed after direct talks between Washington, Qatar and Hamas, added to some fears of Jerusalem being sidelined. Israel played only a logistical role.Within Israel, the Gaza war continues to divide strategists over whether to keep pressing Hamas or stop the war for a hostage deal. Haiman called the current "fight, deal, fight" rhythm "boiling the frog," but acknowledges that without a hostage deal now, the 21 living hostages might not survive.Golov believes it is time for Israel to stop reacting and start shaping events. He urged Jerusalem to push Washington to demand that "Qatar must stop funding Hamas, stop Al Jazeeras incitement, and pay a price for interfering inside Israel." Israel, he argued, does not have the leverage to do that alone."It must anchor itself in a regional bloc with the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan states that are just as terrified of a Muslim Brotherhood resurgence." To get there, he said, Israel must climb aboard the wave Trump has already set in motion.

DAN GAINOR: Journalism's original spin. 7 ways the Tapper/Thompson Biden book attempts to absolve media
Journalism is the first draft of history, to paraphrase a famous quote. If thats true, journalism books are the CYA of history. Such is the case with the new book by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios National Political Correspondent Alex Thompson, who try to shift the blame for coverage of President Joe Bidens health entirely onto the White House and away from the biased news media like CNN.The duo is about to release their book titled, "Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run." The book would be better titled, "Original Spin." Based on early release to various news outlets, it is a whitewash of journalisms many failures to properly cover Bidens very public slide into incoherence. If Helen of Troy was The Face That Launched a Thousand Ships, this book launched 1,000 takes on Twitter/X, some of them so good they should win awards. (Stephen L. Miller, aka @redsteeze, outdid them all.)JOURNALISM'S 'ORIGINAL SPIN': HOW TAPPER'S BIDEN BOOK ATTEMPTS TO ABSOLVE MEDIABut it wasnt just Tapper, it was an entire media enterprise that hid Bidens decline. Here are my seven favorite moments from then and now:The Amazon description reads like its promoting "All the Presidents Men," not a book-long rationalization. "From two of Americas most respected journalists, an unflinching and explosive reckoning with one of the most fateful decisions in American political history: Joe Bidens run for reelection despite evidence of his serious declineamid desperate efforts to hide the extent of that deterioration." And it then includes this quote from the equally culpable folks at Politico: "The book Biden allies fear the most."Biden allies dont fear the book. There arent many left who admit they supported him. Its the media who fear it. Because this book reminds Americans the legacy press is untrustworthy either covering the news or admitting their role in covering it up.Were not letting Tapper off that easy. Heres his ego-infused PR quote in a CNN story, "Toni Morrison once said If theres a book that you want to read, but it hasnt been written yet, then you must write it," Jake Tapper said in a statement. "Thats what inspired this book: we wanted to know more about what we all just lived through. More than 200 interviews later, Alex and I have a much better idea. And soon you all will too."AXIOS REPORTER PUSHES BACK ON BIDEN'S DENIAL OF MENTAL DECLINE, SAYING WHITE HOUSE INSIDERS DISAGREETo hear Tapper and tell it, they are hard-working truth tellers in a world beset by dishonest politicians. This is the same CNN anchor who repeatedly both covered for and covered up Bidens mental failings. And he wants a get-out-of-jail-free-card for admitting Biden isnt mentally fit to run a hotdog stand. Or eat at one.On February 8, 2024, Biden held a press conference to counter special counsel Robert Hur's claim Biden was, "a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." The presser was epic, with the president pretending his memory was "fine." Then he called Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi the "president of Mexico" during a presser where he spoke slowly and seemed to lose his train of thought. (Days before, he claimed he had spoken with a dead French leader.)The media coverage was laughable. The New York Times ran with, "My Memory Is Fine, a Defiant Biden Declares After Special Counsel Report." The Post chose, "Biden responds angrily to special counsel report questioning his memory." Legacy media outlets skipped the embarrassing memory lapse in headlines.Tapper wasnt alone running cover for Biden. There was "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough, who delivered the most-embarrassing quote of the entire 2024 election: "I've said it for years now, he's cogent. But I undersold it when I said he was cogent, he's far beyond cogent. In fact, I think he's better than he's ever been, intellectually, analytically, because he's been around for fifty-years," Scarborough said. "Start your tape right now because Im about to tell you the truth. And f--- you if you cant handle the truth. This version of Biden, intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever."That was March 6, 2024. Bidens campaign ended slightly more than four months later. There was no medical event. No rapid decline. And this came after the disastrous press conference. When journalists didnt like what people were saying about the president, they pretended it was based on phony videos. CNNs Brian Stelter ran with the White Houses argument. "The White House used the phrase cheap fakes," adding, "let me explain what that is." Now, we have Tapper saying that Biden didnt even recognize actor George Clooney. In June 2024, NBC News' Gabe Gutierrez did a well ackually segment that argued Biden hadnt wandered away from foreign leaders. "In reality, another camera angle showed the president was actually trying to greet skydivers." He also said the right was "falsely claiming the president was meandering." Just like the right falsely claimed a White House staffer in an Easter Bunny outfit pulled the president away from press questions. As part of the books PR blitz, Tapper and Thompson co-authored a piece in The New Yorker, titled, "How Joe Biden Handed the Presidency to Donald Trump." Four paragraphs in, they quote Democrats who agree with their narrative. "We got so screwed by Biden, as a party, David Plouffe, who helped run the Harris campaign, told us," they claimed. And one paragraph later, "Plouffe added, He totally f---ed us."The article goes on to credit actor George Clooney for writing an op-ed calling Biden to step down. The actor had attended a Biden fundraiser in June and the article gave an exchange where, "It seemed clear that the President had not recognized Clooney." But Clooney is Tappers hero here. Not the legions of conservatives who complained about Bidens failing health long before. The Clooney name gets mentioned 59 times in the piece. Fifty-nine. Thats five more times than Clooney has appeared in movies, according to IMDB.com.Even after Bidens debate with Donald Trump, two New York Times writers wouldnt give in. Lydia Polgreen wrote: "No one won this debate, but there is no question who lost: anyone who plans to cast a ballot for president in November." Jamelle Bouie agreed, "Well, we had a raspy and stumbling President Biden and a deranged and incoherent Donald Trump, who spent two hours unleashing a stream of lies. Is there a winner here? Nah."AP delivered one of the greatest understatements in history: "Debate-watchers in the Biden and Trump camps seem to agree on something: Biden had a bad night."CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM DAN GAINOR

Russian drone strike in Ukraine kills 9, injures 4 after peace talks, officials say
A Russian drone strike hit a passenger bus in northeastern Ukraine on Saturday, killing nine people and injuring four others, Ukrainian officials allege. The attack came just hours after Russian and Ukrainian officials held their first direct peace talks in years, although the two sides failed to reach a ceasefire agreement for the conflict that began with a February 2022 invasion by Moscow.Ukraines national police released photos showing the aftermath of Saturday's strike in the city of Bilopillia in the Sumy region. The city is about six miles from the front line and border with Russia."This is another war crime by Russia a deliberate strike on civilian transport that posed no threat," the Sumy regional administration said on Telegram.ZELENSKYY SPEAKS WITH TRUMP ALLIES AFTER RUSSIA PEACE TALKS BROKER NO CEASEFIREUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the attack as "deliberate killing of civilians."A mourning period has been declared in Bilopillia from Saturday through Monday. Local community chief Yurii Zarko called the day of the attack "Black Saturday."The passengers on the bus were being evacuated from Bilopillia when the drone struck, according to local media outlet Suspilne. Authorities were working to identify some of the victims, most of whom were elderly women. The injured victims were transported to a hospital in Sumy, the regional capital. Three people were listed in serious condition. On Saturday morning, Russia's defense ministry claimed its forces hit a military staging area in the Sumy region, around 31 miles southeast of Bilopillia, but did not mention any other attacks in the area.It was not immediately clear how the strike would affect peace efforts. On Friday, Russian and Ukrainian officials met in Turkey in an attempt to reach a temporary ceasefire, but the talks ended in less than two hours without a truce. The negotiations were the first face-to-face talks between the two countries since the early weeks of the war. Both sides agreed on a large prisoner swap, but remained far apart on key conditions for ending the conflict. One condition for Ukraine, which has the backing of its Western allies, is a temporary ceasefire as a first step toward a peaceful settlement. Russia, however, has pushed back against the truce, which remains elusive. In Turkey, Russia and Ukraine agreed to each exchange 1,000 prisoners of war in what would be their biggest such swap, according to the heads of both delegations. Both sides also talked about a ceasefire and a meeting between their heads of state, according to chief Ukrainian delegate, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. An aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin said both sides also agreed to provide each other with detailed ceasefire proposals, with Ukraine requesting the heads of state meeting that Russia took under consideration.TRUMP, AFTER SKIPPING RUSSIA-UKRAINE PEACE TALKS, WANTS TO MEET PUTIN AS SOON AS WE CAN SET IT UPZelenskyy said he discussed the negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump and the leaders of France, Germany, the U.K. and Poland. On X, he called for "tough sanctions" against Moscow if it rejects "a full and unconditional ceasefire and an end to killings."Zelenskyy was in Tirana, Albania, on Friday, to meet with leaders of 47 European countries to discuss security, defense and democratic standards. The leaders he met included French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk."Pressure on Russia must be maintained until Russia is ready to end the war," Zelenskyy said on X.The Associated Press contributed to this report.

JONATHAN TURLEY: Biden not the only loser revealed by shocking Hur audio
"For posterity's sake."Those words from President Joe Biden sum up the crushing impact of the leaked audiotapes from the interview between him and Special Counsel Robert Hur. Not only did they remove any doubt over Biden committing federal crimes, but they also constituted what is akin to a political racketeering indictment against much of the Washington establishment, from the White House staff to Democratic politicians to the media. The interview, conducted from Oct. 8-9, 2023, has long been sought by Congress, but was kept under wraps by Biden's Justice Department even as Biden campaigned for a second term.BIDEN REPEATEDLY SAYS I DONT REMEMBER' REGARDING CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS IN NEWLY RELEASED HUR INTERVIEW AUDIOMany of us balked at the conclusion of Hur that no charges were appropriate despite the fact that the president had removed classified documents for decades, stored them in grossly negligent ways, and moved them around to unsecure locations, including his garage in Delaware.Given President Donald Trump's indictment for the same offenses, it was hard to imagine how the special counsel could not recommend the same criminal charges (presumably after he left office).Instead, Hur declared it would have been hard to get a jury to convict Biden because he was "a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."It appears that Trump, on the other hand, was presumptively not sympathetic or well-meaning and possessed a good enough memory to face prosecution. The contrast was glaring and only reinforced the view of many citizens that there are two tracks for justice in Washington.Soon after the report's release, Biden gave an irate press conference at which he lied about the findings of his culpability and lashed out at any suggestion that he had gapped or stumbled in the interview. For example, when reporters raised Hur's assertion that Biden had forgotten when his son Beau died, Biden angrily responded, "How in the hell dare he raise that?" Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself it wasnt any of their damn business."However, it was not Hur but Biden himself who raised the death of his son, and he forgot a wide array of dates, including when he served in office. The interview shows that in 2023 it was clear that Biden was mentally diminished despite claims from many allies and former aides that there was a sudden loss of capacity just before the disastrous debate in 2024.It is now undeniable that the White House staff actively hid the president's incompetence from the American public. That includes the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki (who left her post in May 2022) and her successor, Karine Jean-Pierre, who insisted that Biden was sharp and "running circles" around the staff.Of course, the media is now covering the story after the public saw the truth in the debate. Figures like CNN's Jake Tapper have even written books that belatedly pursue the question despite previously insisting that there was no evidence of a diminishment in Biden's mental state.Tapper repeatedly dismissed the claim and even excoriated Lara Trump for raising it. In one interview, he pushed a White House talking point that such suggestions were mocking Biden for a childhood stutter."It's so amazing to me- a cognitive decline," he told the president's daughter-in-law. "I think you were mocking his stutter. Yeah. I think you were mocking his stutter and I think you have absolutely no standing to diagnose somebody's cognitive decline. I would think somebody in the Trump family would be more sensitive to people who do not have medical licenses diagnosing politicians from afar."When Lara Trump insisted that this was clearly evidence of a "very concerning" cognitive decline, Tapper dismissed her statement by saying, "Thank you, Lara. I'm sure it's from a place of concern. We all believe that."Keep in mind that others beyond Lara Trump were raising this issue and there were tapes showing obvious physical and mental decline. The media simply refused to seriously pursue the story until the cover-up no longer mattered after the debate.Over on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough was equally apoplectic at those raising the issue and stated"Start your tape right now because Im about to tell you the truth. And eff you if you cant handle the truth. This version of Biden intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever. Not a close second. And I have known him for yearsIf it werent the truth, I wouldnt say itThis media effort continued all the way up the debate itself. On CNN.com,Oliver Darcy wrote "Right-wing media figures are desperately pushing conspiracy theories about Biden ahead of the debate."Once the public found out, the media was ready to tell the story when it became impossible, and no longer politically beneficial, to deny it. Articles began to appear with the same realization of, "Oh you meant THAT mental decline. Well sure."It was the same belated acknowledgment that came, after the election, with Hunter Biden's laptop. The media just moved on with a shrug and a collective "our bad" concession. As for the then-president himself, the one moment of clarity in the interview may have been his most incriminating line. When asked why he removed classified material on Afghanistan, Biden admitted "I guess I wanted to hang on to it for posterity's sake."CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThat is precisely what critics on CNN and MSNBC accused Trump of doing: removing material as types of keepsakes or trophies. One president was indicted for that and one was sent along his way to pursue a second term in office. The real indictment that comes out of these tapes is a type of political racketeering enterprise by the Washington establishment. It took a total team effort from Democratic politicians to the White House staff to the media to hide the fact that the president of the United States was mentally diminished. It there were a political RICO crime, half of Washington would be frog marched to the nearest federal courthouse.Of course, none of this complicity in the cover-up is an actual crime. It is part of the Washington racket. After all, this is Washington where such duplicity results not in plea deals but book deals.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM JONATHAN TURLEY

HHS SEC ROBERT F KENNEDY JR: American patients pay more so others can pay less that stops now
President Donald Trump's bold executive order on drug pricing isn't just policyit's a revolution in healthcare affordability. The plan is simple yet transformative: ensure Americans pay no more for medications than citizens of other wealthy nations.Consider this stark reality: a GLP-1 drug costing $88 in London commands $1,000 in the United States. Even after manufacturer discounts to insurers, Americans still pay over $400for the identical medication, from the same company, produced in the same facility. This disparity is especially galling when pharmaceutical companies extract 70% of their profits from Americaa nation representing just 4% of the world's population. This global free-riding on American patients ends now.Industry leaders recognize this imbalance. I've already engaged with CEOs from four major American pharmaceutical companies and a foreign manufacturer eager to relocate to the U.S. Their response has been encouraging, but we're prepared to act decisively if necessary. U.S. Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) possess the statutory authority to deliver on President Trumps commitment: other developed nations must pay more, so Americans can pay less, thus preserving the innovation pipeline.PRESIDENT TRUMP TAKES ON 'BIG PHARMA' BY SIGNING EXECUTIVE ORDER TO LOWER DRUG PRICESAmericans deserve both groundbreaking therapies and affordable access to them. Yet according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, nearly one-third of patients skip prescribed medications due to costan unacceptable reality in the world's wealthiest nation. While prevention through healthier lifestyles remains our best strategy for reducing medication dependence, certain treatments will always be essential. The pharmaceutical industry has delivered remarkable advancements in cancer and autoimmune therapies that benefit patients worldwide.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONWe value continued innovation as a core American principle, but we cannot indefinitely subsidize global medical progress while other wealthy nations contribute disproportionately little.President Trump's negotiation approach has already proven effective with NATO, where European countries responded to accountability by making historic reinvestments that strengthened the alliance. The same principle applies here. The President and I stand united: global free riding on American patients must end.CMS, with Dr. Mehmet Oz at the helm, extends beyond payment reform to fundamentally realigning care delivery incentives. This initiative will protect safety nets for vulnerable populations while addressing the financial pressures facing state partners and federal programsparticularly Medicaid, which has seen dramatic growth in both enrollment and costs. The coming months will be decisive in achieving President Trump's prescription for a healthier Americaone where innovation thrives, and patients no longer shoulder an unfair share of the global healthcare burden.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM ROBERT F. James Carville dismisses Democratic Party's record-low polling: 'We're winning elections'
Despite a flurry of polling so far this year indicating the Democratic Party's favorability sinking to record lows, veteran Democratic strategist and pundit James Carville remains optimistic, as he points to recent ballot box victories by his party."You can't discount people winning elections," Carville told Fox News Digital this week.Carville spoke the day after a new survey from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research was the latest to spell trouble for the Democratic Party, six months after they suffered setbacks up and down the ballot at the hands of now-President Donald Trump and Republicans. The Democratic Party has been in the political wilderness since last November's elections, when Republicans won back control of the White House and the Senate and defended their fragile House majority. And Republicans made gains among Black and Hispanic voters as well as younger voters, all traditional members of the Democratic Party's base.ON THE RISE: NEW POLL INDICATES TRUMP'S APPROVAL RATINGS EDGING UPAccording to the survey, only about one-third of Democrats are very or somewhat optimistic about the future of the Democratic Party. That's a steep decline from last July, when around six in 10 Democrats said they were optimistic. The survey, conducted May 1-5, points to an increase in optimism among Republicans, with 55% more optimistic about the future of the GOP, up from 47% last summer.HEAD HERE FOR THE LATEST FOX NEWS POLLINGSince Trump's return to power earlier this year, an increasingly energized base of Democrats is urging party leaders to take a stronger stand in pushing back against the president's sweeping and controversial agenda during the opening months of his second administration. And their anger is directed not only at Republicans, but also at Democrats they feel aren't vocal enough in their opposition to Trump. And that's fueled the plunge in the Democratic Party's favorable ratings, which have hit historic lows in several recent surveys. The Democrats' ratings stood underwater in the most recent Fox News national poll at 41% favorable and 56% unfavorable in a survey conducted April 18-21.That's an all-time low for the Democrats in Fox News polling. And for the first time in a decade, the party's standing was lower than that of the GOP, which stood at 44% favorable and 54% unfavorable. The figures were reversed last summer, when Fox News last asked the party favorability question in one of its surveys. The Democratic Party's favorable ratings were well in negative territory in a Pew Research national survey 38% favorable, 60% unfavorable conducted in early April and at 36% favorable, 60% unfavorable in a Wall Street Journal poll in the field a couple of weeks earlier. And national polls conducted in February by Quinnipiac University and in March by CNN and by NBC News also indicated the favorable ratings for the Democratic Party sinking to all-time lows.Confidence in the Democratic Party's congressional leadership sunk to an all-time low, according to a Gallup poll conducted early last month. The confidence rating for Democrats' leadership in Congress stood at 25% in the survey, which was nine points below the previous low of 34% recorded in 2023.And the semi-annual Harvard Youth Poll, which was released late last month, indicated that approval ratings for Democrats in Congress among Americans aged 18-29 nosedived."I dont doubt any of thats true," Carville told Fox News. "But theres one thing: Were winning elections left and right as were talking about how the Democratic number or image is low."John Ewing, Jr., a Democrat, this week ousted a longtime Republican mayor in Omaha, Nebraska, a blue dot in a reliably red state. Ewing will become Omaha's first Black mayor.Last month, the Democrat-aligned candidate comfortably defeated the Republican-aligned candidate in a Wisconsin state Supreme Court election. The high-profile and expensive campaign grabbed plenty of national attention and outside money.Democrats have also performed very well so far this year in special elections, including flipping red state Senate seats in Iowa and Pennsylvania. In addition to looking back, Carville also pointed ahead to November's gubernatorial election in Virginia, where Democrats hope to win back the governor's office in Richmond."Let's see what's going to happen in Virginia," said Carville, who first grabbed national attention for his work as a lead strategist on former President Bill Clinton's successful 1992 presidential campaign. And Carville predicted that "were going to win that."
