My flight was canceled. But a baby in the airport taught me everything about God's peace in a storm
In the mid-1970s Steven Spielberg produced a movie called "Jaws," the fictional story of a monster shark that made a meal out of the swimmers off the New England coastline. One iconic scene involves a crusty boat captain, the police chief, and a scientist. They set off on the captains fishing boat in search of the shark. No one had seen it before. When these three men did, they nearly fell over in fright. The police chief delivered one of the most famous lines in cinema history: "Youre gonna need a bigger boat!"Their craft was no match for the threat. Suppose that the three men had been riding in a larger vessel: the Seawise Giant. It was the largest ship ever built, more than four football fields in length. It weighed more than 564,000 tons.If the three men had seen the giant shark from the deck of the oil tanker, their reaction would have been different. They would have noticed the shark, talked about it, maybe taken pictures of it. But would they have feared it as they did in the smaller vessel? No. They would have felt safe in a large vessel. The sea of life is swimming with sharks. They attack, gouge, and devour. But they cannot destroy you. Why? Because you are on the vessel called Living God. You are safe in his hands, established in his plans, and sustained in his grace.MAX LUCADO: FINDING PEACE AND FAITH IN GOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORMIf you believe you face your problems alone, you will never find deep and lasting peace. On the other hand, if you believe that you face your challenges in the Lordin the presence of the Lord, in the name of the Lord, in the power of the Lord, in the protection of the Lordthen you can be full of joy because you are full of the Lord.Jesus offers this assurance: "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27, NKJV).Jesus contrasts two types of peacethe peace the world offers and the peace he offers. The peace the world offers depends upon circumstance. If the weather is right. If the traffic is light. If the stock market is up. If the cholesterol numbers are down. If the spouse is happy. If the flight is on time. If. If. If. If.WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GOD'S MIRACULOUS 'WHOEVER' POLICYIs your peace an "if" peace?Exchange "if" peace for "his" peace."My peace I give to you."Jesus offers his peace! To be clear, he doesnt offer a peace like his. He offers his very own peace!I saw an image of peace-giving in Chicago OHare. The airport atmosphere was anything but peaceful. Thunder was audible outside. The tension was palpable inside. The hour was late, and we passengers were not happy. Unless the sky cleared, wed be searching for hotel rooms and next-day flights.Oh, the grumbling.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONI was doing my share. Airport food again? Grrr.Everyone was upset. Well, almost everyone. I heard someone singing. Seated a few feet away was a mother and her infant. A blanket covered the nursing child. It was clear to me that the calmest person in the sitting area was a baby, only a few months old.The child had peace because the child had a mother. The baby had the peace of the motherthe warmth of the mothers body, the nourishment of the mothers milk, the comfort of the mothers song, the assurance of the mothers presence.Yank the child from the arms of the mom, fear would erupt. But since the child was near the mother, the baby was the calmest person in the airport. As you envision the airport scene, are you more like the frantic, anxious travelers or the resting infant?God longs to give us what the mom gave that child. His warmth. His nourishment. His assurance. We can have the peace of Jesus. We can uproot thoughts of catastrophe and replace them with truths like this one: "The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts" (Phil. 4:7 NKJV).When your heart needs peace, trust God.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM MAX LUCADO

Trump administration cares more about sons death than DC Council, mother of slain GOP intern says
The mother of a slain congressional intern killed in a drive-by shooting says the Trump administration is taking her son's death more seriously than the Washington, D.C., CouncilThe Metropolitan Police Department said Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in D.C. for an internship, was shot June 30 around 10:28 p.m. and died at a hospital July 1. At the time, Tarpinian-Jachym was an intern for Rep. Ron Estes, R-Kan.Several people were seen exiting a car before opening fire, with one of the shots wounding Tarpinian-Jachym. Police said Tarpinian-Jachym wasn't the intended target, adding an adult female and 16-year-old male were injured. The shooting happened in the 1200 block of 7th Street, Northwest, near the Mt Vernon Sq 7th St-Convention Center Metro stop.MOTHER OF SLAIN CONGRESSIONAL INTERN SAYS DC COUNCIL TREATS VIOLENT CRIME LIKE A 'JOKE' AMID UNSOLVED KILLINGOn Monday, President Donald Trump federalized police in Washington, D.C., after a string of high-profile incidents.Tarpinian-Jachym's mother, Tamara Jachym, told Fox News Digital the Trump administration is taking more steps than the D.C. Council to fix the youth crime wave plaguing the nation's capital. After the fatal shooting, Trump sent a letter to Jachym, saying he and Melania Trump were "heartbroken for your entire family.""While we may never fully understand the impact that Eric has had during his meaningful life, we know he will be remembered for his kindness, faithfulness, and devotion to your family and his many friends," Trump wrote. "He will also be remembered for his commitment to our country. I know how proud Congressman Estes was to have Eric represent his office, the people of Kansas' Fourth Congressional District, and our Nation."Eric will be held in my heart, and I promise never to forget or forgive the terrible act that took him from us. Please know that my Administration will not stop fighting to clean up our streets and ensure law and order. May God hold Eric in His eternal love and care and provide you and your other incredible children, Angela and Jeremy, with abiding peace and unending strength."MOM OF CONGRESSIONAL INTERN MURDERED IN DC WARNS PARENTS IT COULD HAPPEN TO THEIR KIDSJachym said "of course" the Trump administration is taking her son's death more seriously than the D.C. Council."Or [the D.C. Council] would change the laws so 12- to 17-year-olds are booked and charged for crimes and get jail time or juvenile detention," Jachym said. "I am not saying for stealing a pair of shoes, but for serious crimes."I believe that something needs to be done because the council is allowing these people to engage in serious crime in D.C., and it's getting worse, not better," she added. "It's serious. And you know if they can't see that this is a serious problem, then we have a serious problem."The D.C. Council did not respond to a request for comment.NBC Washington reported that the number of juveniles arrested in Washington, D.C., has risen every year since 2000, with over 2,000 minors arrested in 2023 and 2024.In 2024, juveniles made up 51.8% of robbery arrests, according to police, adding that almost 60% of those arrested for carjacking in 2025 are also juveniles.Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith said the uptick in juvenile crime was one reason she helped establish a Juvenile Investigative Response Unit within the agency."Recently, we have seen an increase in fights in our schools and more serious criminal offenses outside of our schools," Smith said in April. "And we have seen an increase in juvenile suspects involved in criminal offenses district-wide."Jachym said the D.C. City Council needs to go a step further and ensure minors are held accountable for any criminal behavior because, right now, she feels it's a "crime utopia.""I mean, if you're old enough to walk around with a gun and pull a trigger, you're old enough for the consequences," Jachym said. "And these things that the council have in place are not working. Then what's the alternative? Have more people killed, raped, robbed, carjacked? It's just, you know, it's really scary."More recently, two juveniles were arrested after allegedly assaulting a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee in Washington, D.C.The Metropolitan Police Department announced that a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl face carjacking charges after Edward Coristine was beaten Aug. 3 at around 3 a.m. Authorities said the teens tried to carjack Coristine and a woman identified as his significant other.Police said Coristine got the woman inside of the vehicle while he confronted the group of people, which led to the attack.

Women's volleyball activists react to California high school team forfeiting to opponent with trans athlete
A high school girls' volleyball team in California garnered national attention on Friday when its players forfeited to a team with a trans athlete on its roster. Now, three women who saw their own volleyball careers affected by a trans competitor have spoken out in response.Riverside Poly High School announced its girls' volleyball team forfeited to Jurupa Valley High School's team, which rosters well-known trans teen AB Hernandez. Riverside Poly did not cite a specific reason for the forfeit in its statement, but multiple parents and a school board member told Fox News Digital it was due to the presence of the trans athlete.Former high school girls' volleyball player and current activist Payton McNabb suffered permanent brain damage after being spiked in the head by a male opponent in a 2022 game. McNabb commended the Riverside Poly girls for refusing to take the court against Jurupa Valley.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM"I applaud these girls! They were put in a situation no young athlete should ever face choosing between their safety and their sport. Ive been there. I still live with the consequences of being injured by a male athlete on the court. Theres a reason the boys net is seven inches higher because the game is different," McNabb told Fox News Digital."What these girls did took real courage, and its devastating that theyre the ones paying the price for decisions made by adults."Two former women's college volleyball players who forfeited games to a team with a trans athlete last season also praised the Riverside Poly players.San Jose State University's women's volleyball team saw seven of its games forfeited by opponents amid a national controversy involving trans athlete Blaire Fleming. One of the teams to forfeit to SJSU was the Univeristy of Wyoming, which sacrificed an Oct. 5 game as the controversy involving Fleming grew. Former Wyoming player Macey Boggs told Fox News Digital she stands with the Riverside Poly players."It takes courage to stand up. Im so proud of them for doing what is right. Women fought for us in the past and its time for this generation to step up and fight for the women to come. It is refreshing to see this and very encouraging. I look up to these women. And I will continue to stand unapologetically for the truth with them," Boggs said.EX-SJSU STAR BROOKE SLUSSER MAKES NEW ALLEGATIONS ABOUT PROBE INTO TRANS TEAMMATE'S ALLEGED PLOT TO HARM HERMeanwhile, the University of Nevada, Reno women's volleyball players had to fight their own school just for the right to forfeit against SJSU later that month. The Nevada players approached university administrators privately to express their desire to forfeit the match and join four other programs that refused to play SJSU. But Nevada did not honor that request and instead released a statement insisting it would play the match.Nevada ultimately forfeited the day before the match, due to not having enough players. However, the university previously told Fox news Digital it had discussions with the players about potential "legal issues" that would emerge if the match were not played.Nevada captain Sia Liilii led her players in their resistance to face SJSU last season, and took on a key public role in the national debate over trans athletes in women's sports that partially defined the 2024 election season. Liilii met with GOP lawmakers during the conflict with her school, and gave an emotional speech at a press conference speaking out against her school the day the game was supposed to be played on Oct. 26.Now, Liilii says she "applauds" the Riverside Poly players for their stand."I would like to applaud the Riverside Poly Volleyball team for standing up for themselves by sacrificing a loss for the future of girls' and womens sports. I would also like to commend its school administration for prioritizing the rights and safety of their female student athletes, something I was not afforded by my university when faced with this situation. I am proud to say I stand with the Riverside Poly Volleyball team!" Liilii told Fox News Digital.Months after the SJSU volleyball season ended, Hernandez was the focus of a national media firestorm in May during the athlete's run to a California girls track and field championship. The postseason meets that Hernandez competed in were met with protests by female athletes and their families, who often wore "Save Girls Sports" shirts.Hernandez's run seemingly drew a response from President Donald Trump, who posted a Truth Social message the week leading up to the state final advising the state not to allow a trans athlete to compete. Trump did not reference Hernandez directly in the post. In response to Trump's warning, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) amended its policies in the days prior to the event to ensure that any female athlete who finished behind a trans athlete at the championship would be bumped up one spot. This resulted in Hernandez sharing the first-place spots on the medal podium in high jump and triple jump, and the second-place podium spot in long jump at the state meet. However, in July, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Education (CDE) and CIF for its policies that have allowed biological males to compete in girls' sports across the state despite Trump signing an executive order in February to prohibit it.Jurupa Valley provided a statement to Fox News Digital Friday addressing Riverside Poly's forfeit."We were notified that Riverside Poly High School canceled todays scheduled girls volleyball match with Jurupa Valley High School. They did not disclose the reason. We have no additional comment at this time," the statement said.Jurupa Valley's next girls' volleyball game is set for Aug. 25 against Rim of The World High School.Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

DC police accused of changing crime stats just weeks before Trump federalized city
Just weeks before President Donald Trump federalized the Washington, D.C., police force over crime woes, the Metropolitan Police Department was hit with accusations of allegedly juking crime stats for more favorable results."When our members respond to the scene of a felony offense where there is a victim reporting that a felony occurred, inevitably there will be a lieutenant or a captain that will show up on that scene and direct those members to take a report for a lesser offense," D.C. Police Union chairman Gregg Pemberton told NBC Washington in July of an alleged trend to manipulate crime stats."So, instead of taking a report for a shooting or a stabbing or a carjacking, they will order that officer to take a report for a theft or an injured person to the hospital or a felony assault, which is not the same type of classification."The accusations from the union chief followed the police department suspending Washington, D.C., police commander Michael Pulliam in mid-May for allegedly changing crime statistics in his district, local media reported in July.DC VIOLENCE HAS GROWN FAR MORE DEADLY, DESPITE DEMS CLAIMING 30-YEAR LOWThe police commander was accused of falsifying crime data to make crime trends look more favorable for the city, but has denied the allegations. A week before his suspension, Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against a higher-up, local outlet NBC Washington reported.Pulliam is currently under investigation over allegedly changing stats. The Metropolitan Police Department told Fox News Digital Thursday, when asked for additional comment and updates on the case, that it "does not comment on internal investigations or personnel matters."FORMER CAPITOL POLICE CHIEF SAYS CRIME BY GANGS OF YOUTH IN DC HAS SPIKED, ESCAPED CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODSThe accusations over changing crime stats were soon followed by Trump federalizing the police department on Monday in response to a spate of high-profile killings and attacks, as well as a crime wave in the District that has persisted since the 2020 era. The president federalized the local police department under section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, which allows the president to assume emergency control of the capital's police force for 30 days."Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs and homeless people," Trump said Monday. "And we're not going to let it happen anymore. We're not going to take it.""We're taking it back under the authority vested in me as the president of the United States, I'm officially invoking section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act," he added. "You know what that is. And placing the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department under direct federal control. In addition, I'm deploying the National Guard to help reestablish law, order and public safety in Washington, D.C. And they're going to be allowed to do their job properly."On Thursday, Trump railed against the accusations of manipulating crime data in the District."They are under investigation right now," Trump said Thursday during an Oval Office press conference. "They are giving this phony crime stats just like they gave other stats in the financial world. But they're phony crime stats. And Washington, D.C., is at its worst point, and it will soon be at its best point. You're gonna have a very safe, you're going to have a crime-free city."Trump-aligned legal group America First Legal Foundation, which was founded by White House advisor Stephen Miller, exclusively told Fox Digital Thursday that it filed a FOIA request seeking all crime records and data compiled by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, including any records "reflecting the falsification or non-publication" of crime data and statistics.RADICAL DC OFFICIALS TREATED OFFICERS LIKE CRAP, POLICE LEADER SAYS 7 ATTACKS THAT LED TO TRUMP TAKEOVERDemocratic lawmakers and local liberal leaders have slammed Trump over federalizing the city which has included hundreds of National Guard members flooding D.C., as well as law enforcement officers from agencies such as the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Capitol Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisting with Trump's law and order crackdown claiming crime is at a 30-year low."Violent crime in Washington, D.C. is at a 30-year low," House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said Monday. "Donald Trump has no basis to take over the local police department. And zero credibility on the issue of law and order. Get lost.""As you listen to an unhinged Trump try to justify deploying the National Guard in DC, here's reality: Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low," former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton posted to X.Washington, D.C., was among the cities caught up in a spiking national crime trend in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic raged and protests and riots overtook cities nationwide recording 198 homicides that year, which marked a 16-year high for the city. Homicides jumped to 226 in 2021, edged down to 203 in 2022 and soared in 2023 to 274 a 20-year high.TRUMP CLAIMS DC CRIMES TROUNCE STATS FROM NOTORIOUSLY VIOLENT CITIES WORLDWIDED.C. saw homicides drop by roughly 31% from 2023 to 2024, according to year-end Metropolitan Police Department data reporting 187 in 2024. The data shows violent crime across the board fell by roughly 35% from 2023, when the department reported 5,345 incidents, to 2024, when it reported 3,469.A study published in July by the Council on Criminal Justice found the chances of a person facing a violent crime in Washington, D.C., have dropped in recent years, but the possibility of dying during such a crime has skyrocketed. The study examined violent crime data from 17 large U.S. cities between 2018 and 2024, specifically investigating the lethality of violent crimes in those cities. It found Washington, D.C., had the highest lethality level out of the group which included Baltimore and Chicago at a 38% increase in lethality in 2024 compared with 2018.EXCLUSIVE: TRUMP-ALIGNED LEGAL GROUP FILES FOIA REQUEST FOR DC CRIME DATA, CITING ALLEGED MANIPULATIONLethality in D.C. jumped by a whopping 341% when compared to 2012 data, the study found, reporting that there were 13 homicides per 1,000 serious violent crimes in 2012 to 57 homicides per 1,000 serious violent crimes in 2024.The study defined lethality as "the number of homicides per aggravated assaults and robberies.""You have less chance of being victimized, but if you are victimized, you have more of a chance of dying," John Jay adjunct lecturer Jillian Snider, a retired New York Police Department officer, told Fox News Digital Tuesday of violent crime trends in the nation's capital. The District's police union chief told Fox News Monday that it supports Trump's federalization while slamming claims crime has ticked down in the city."We completely agree with the president here that crime in the district is out of control and something needs to be about it," Pemberton said in support of Trump's actions during an interview on FOX Business. "This concept that crime is down is really an old trope. They're using statistics in a way that makes it appear that crime is going down, but our rank-in-file officers know that we're going call to call to call, for armed carjackings, stabbings, robberies, shootings, homicides and the crime isn't going anywhere."Fox News Digital reached out to the union for additional comment on the matter, but did not immediately receive a reply.Fox News Digital's Hannah Panreck and Breanne Deppisch contributed to this report.

Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson regretted being blocked from bands hit song: book
John Mason knew that Brian Wilson needed help but it came at a high price."Brian was in a weak mental state," the entertainment lawyer, who once represented the fragile leader of the Beach Boys, told Fox News Digital."Brian often said to me, as sad as it sounds I fried my brain. I took too many drugs. Brian couldnt get up in the morning without somebody getting him up. He couldnt eat healthily without somebody giving him something healthy to eat."BEACH BOYS' BRIAN WILSON CAUSE OF DEATH REVEALED"So, the good and bad of Dr. Eugene Landy in Brians life was that he motivated Brian to become a participant in his own life," Mason shared. "But the bad part was that, as time went by and years went by, Dr. Landy expected more and more to replace Brian in the Beach Boys Brian wasnt allowed to do anything without a Landy handler being with him."Mason, who has worked with Roy Orbison, Reba McEntire, Shakira and Quincy Jones, among others, has written a new memoir, "Crazy Lucky." It explores what it takes to defend the famous during career-defining moments. The book delves into Wilson's relationship with Landy, a psychotherapist accused of holding a Svengali-like power over him. Mason said it led to one of the singer/songwriters biggest regrets."Mike [Love] and Carl [Wilson] came into my office and said to Brian, Hey, we have the opportunity to write a song for this movie, [1988s] Cocktail," said Mason."Its going to be starring Tom Cruise. Its really great. Wed love you to join us. And Brian was really excited. He said, Oh, Id love to do that. But later in the evening, Brian called and said, I shouldnt do that. Dr. Landy said I shouldnt do that. Well, that turned out to be Kokomo, the biggest hit the Beach Boys had had probably forever. And Brian felt really badly about not working on Kokomo.""When he heard it, and when I heard it, we went, Oh my gosh, was that a missed opportunity?" Mason recalled.WATCH: BEACH BOYS FOUNDER BRIAN WILSON HAD ONE BIG MUSIC REGRET: PALMason wrote that Landy refused to let Wilson participate unless he, too, were listed as a writer on the song. However, Carl and Bruce Johnson, along with Love, refused. They went on to write "Kokomo" without Wilsons input. It was a decision that Wilson deeply regretted over the years."Brian is truly a giant teddy bear and genius who regrets bad decisions and lives for better ones," wrote Mason.According to Masons book, Wilsons struggles began in 1968, when he quit performing and devoted himself to songwriting instead. While Wilson was determined "to make the greatest music," his mental health began to deteriorate.Mason wrote that Wilsons experiments with drugs, specifically LSD and cocaine, had "diminished his mental capacity." He rarely left his bed and, according to reports, would go without brushing his teeth or showering for weeks."He eventually became so bizarre that he would sit at the piano in his living room surrounded by actual sand that had been dumped in big piles in a sort of playpen," Mason wrote."He was forsaking his young family wife Marilyn Rovell, a singer with the group the Honeys, and young kids Carnie and Wendy for his strange kind of creative peace. Four years passed, and he never left the house. His weight ballooned to 350 pounds from eating entire birthday cakes as a late-night snack."In 1975, a "devastated" Marilyn brought in Landy, a psychologist known for his unconventional 24-hour treatment of celebrities. Wilson, who reportedly feared being committed to a psychiatric hospital, completely surrendered. Their first session took place in Wilsons bedroom closet, where the artist felt safe, the Los Angeles Times reported.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTERLandy was successful. He padlocked Wilsons fridge, put the star on a diet and shooed away drug-enabling pals, The Telegraph reported."Dr. Eugene Landy [helped] Brian overcome his fears of everything," Mason told Fox News Digital. "I would call it an agoraphobia. . . . He feared going outside. . . . And he needed outside help."Landys strict methods worked. But in 1976, Landy was fired over a dispute involving fees, the Los Angeles Times reported. When Wilson was regressing into drugs and obesity, Landy was rehired six years later, the outlet shared. The 24-hour therapy resumed from 1983 to 1986. Landy said he was paid $35,000 a month. And as Wilson began recording and playing live again, Landy was a constant shadow looming over him. Manager Tom Hulett, who knew that Mason was friendly with the Beach Boys, suggested that he could be "a strong, independent balance." In 1984, Mason was hired."I was asked . . . if I would be Brians lawyer, and I agreed," said Mason. "At that time, Brian was, I think, doing better, but he had a lot of issues. . . . Brian came to my office at least once a week. We started having Beach Boys meetings at my office once a month, and we all insisted that Brian come to those meetings without Landy.""Brian was my client. . . . [But] Brian did check in with Landy after our meetings, after our phone calls. Too often I would get a call back from Brian saying, I know I said that, but I have to change my mind."LIKE WHAT YOURE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSMason wrote that Landy was eager to insert himself into every part of Wilsons life. Wilson was controlled by both prescription drugs and the "Landy handlers" who "secretly or openly recorded everything Brian and anyone else said" for the doctor. No decision was made without Landys approval, leaving Mason bewildered and frustrated."Ultimately, it led me to say to Brian, I cant work with you if Dr. Landy is in a position to change your mind or to second-guess me," said Mason. "And he said, I understand that. But then, Dr. Landy called me and said, You told Brian that he cant work with me so you are fired.""Thats a shame, but that is the kind of control Dr. Landy had over Brian Wilson," said Mason."After Mason was fired in 1990, Landy continued to tighten his grip. At one point, he was co-credited as a songwriter on several tracks. Wilson was "an obsession" to Landy, Mason wrote. But in 1991, the Wilson family took legal action to appoint an independent conservatorship. The goal was to stop Landy from further influencing Wilson both personally and financially, the Los Angeles Times reported. In 1992, Landy was barred by court order from contacting Wilson."The court ordered Landy to disassociate from Brian," said Mason. "Ultimately, Landys license to practice psychotherapy in the state of California was revoked. And Brians second wife, Melinda, was able to keep Brian motivated to perform.""He did a lot of shows," said Mason. "He wrote songs, he did a lot of work. His health seemed to be pretty good. I saw Brian a number of times after I wasnt his lawyer, and he looked good. He felt good. He was in a good mental state."Landy passed away in 2006 at age 71. Wilson died in June of this year. He was 82.In his lifetime, Wilson admitted he didnt entirely regret his association with Landy. Mason doesnt either."I have to say that, in Brians case, I dont think there was a better outcome," Mason explained. "Had Landy not become involved, Brian would have become an ineffective vegetable. He was taking too many drugs and couldnt find focus.""I dont think that, at that point, back when Landy came in, either Brians ex-wife Marilyn or his daughters were able to motivate him to be independent. Drugs and alcohol have led to the demise of too many people. Many people we see end up dead from the process."BEACH BOYS FOUNDER BRIAN WILSON DEAD AT 82"Saving Brians life probably necessitated a Eugene Landy who could come in and force him to take control of himself," Mason continued. "I think they were the best years of his health, but the worst of his years with Dr. Landy."
