Rory McIlroy's absence from first portion of PGA Tour postseason draws concerns from organizers
Rory McIlroy has had another busy schedule this season. But this week, he found a way to lessen his workload.McIlroy elected to skip the St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, much to the dismay of at least one PGA Tour organizer. Peter Malnati, a player director on the PGA Tour Policy Board, said he was "very concerned" by McIlroy's decision. The FedEx St. Jude Championship serves as the first leg of the playoffs. The BMW Championship is the playoff's second leg, while the Tour Championship later this month in Atlanta will conclude the 2025 postseason.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMMcIlroy's choice appeared to prompt PGA Tour officials to mull a rule change that could mathematically lock in certain players to the second and third playoff legs.2025 FEDEX ST. JUDE CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD: FULL LIST OF GOLFERS FOR FIRST LEG OF PLAYOFFSMcIlroy and PGA Tour playoffs top-seeded golfer Scottie Scheffler accumulated so many points from events throughout the season that their leads would keep them within the top-50 and top-30 thresholds that the upcoming tournaments mandate. The Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta brings the year's top-30 players together for a shot at the FedEx Cup trophy.Malnati hinted that a rule change was possibly on the horizon. "I think there is stuff in the works, and I'll leave it at that," he told GolfWeek.Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth pushed back against the idea McIlroy's actions will be the start of a trend for other players. Spieth previously served as the PGA Tour policy player director."You might have 1-2 guys do that for an event, but I don't think it will become a thing because they are still huge events against the best players in the world," Spieth said. "I think they're trying to figure out how to make sure you don't skip both of them and ideally neither of them."McIlroy's absence was not completely unexpected, considering he previously hinted that he was contemplating skipping this year's St. Jude Championship."There's a few tournaments that I played this year that I don't usually play and that I might not play next year," McIlroy told The Telegraph in Nov. 2024."I played the Cognizant in Palm Beach Gardens, [the Valero Texas Open in] San Antonio and [the RBC Heritage at] Hilton Head. And I'll probably not play the first playoff event in Memphis. I mean, I finished basically dead last there this year and only moved down one spot in the playoff standings."Despite missing the first leg of the postseason, McIlroy is expected to compete in the penultimate event of the playoffs in Baltimore and the final leg in Atlanta later this month. The Northern Irishman is also slated to be lead participant for Europe in this year's Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York.Follow Fox News Digitals sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Trump says JD Vance would be 'probably favored' for 2028 Republican presidential nomination
Vice President JD Vance would be favored to secure the Republican nomination for president in 2028, President Donald Trump said Tuesday.Trump was at the South Court Auditorium where he signed an executive order to create a 2028 Los Angeles Olympics task force when senior Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked him if Vance was likely to become the face of the Make America Great Again movement after noting the president said he wouldn't be running for a third term."You could clear the entire Republican field right now," Doocy told Trump. "Do you agree that the heir-apparent to MAGA is JD Vance?"RUBIO DOWNPLAYS 2028 TALK, TOUTS VANCE AS TRUMP'S SUCCESSORIn his answer, Trump noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio could team up with Vance to create a formidable ticket."Well, I think most likely. In all fairness, he's the vice president, and I think Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form," Trump replied."I also think we have incredible people, some of the people on the stage right here. So it's too early, obviously, to talk about it, but certainly he's doing a great job," he added. "And he would be probably favored at this point."CHARLIE KIRK NAMES JD VANCE AS GUIDING LIGHT FOR YOUNG CONSERVATIVES, BUT SAYS GOP MUST DELIVER ON PROMISESThe president also said others in his Cabinet could possibly lead the MAGA movement. Trump and some of his allies have previously floated the idea of him running for a third term, which is constitutionally prohibited.Rubio ran against Trump during the 2016 primary but has since positioned himself as a Trump ally.Last month, Rubio dismissed speculation that he could be the Republican Partys 2028 presidential nominee. Instead, he threw support behind Vance."I think JD Vance would be a great nominee if he decides he wants to do that," Rubio said during an interview with Lara Trump that aired on the Fox News Channel. He also commended Vances performance as vice president during the segment on "My View with Lara Trump" and made clear he is satisfied with his current role in President Donald Trumps Cabinet.

"I did everything I could to not throw up."The "Dead to Me" star hyped herself up to go to the hospital when she returned home, as she had experienced difficulties throughout her multiple sclerosis journey."I'm going to go, and I'm not leaving there until I have some f------ answers," she recalled. "I've been here for a long time."Sigler noted how "it could have been so much worse," and commended Applegate for instinctively knowing she had to seek medical attention."It is the worst pain I've ever felt, or so I thought, is my stomach when I'm vomitting. Teamsters boss says 'smug' Kamala Harris alienated union after saying they 'better get on board' in 2024
Teamsters president Sean OBrien accused then-Vice President Kamala Harris of pressuring his union for an endorsement Tuesday, recounting a tense meeting in which she allegedly said the union "better get on board."OBrien spoke with The Free Press founder and editor Bari Weiss on her "Honestly" podcast about who truly represents the American working class in a shifting political landscape. He described one off-putting encounter a Teamsters leader had with the 2024 presidential candidate in a photo op line:"So, Joan goes in the line and Joan says, 'I'm Joan Corey. I'm a vice president with the Teamsters Union,' and [Harris] pointed her finger at Joan and said, 'Teamsters better get on board,' and so Joan says, 'Excuse me?' 'Yeah, Teamsters better get on board. I don't know why you haven't endorsed me yet.' So she comes back, and she tells me this, and I'm like, 'The nerve!'"'THE VIEW' CO-HOST DESCRIBES HARRIS INTERVIEW AS 'MICROCOSM OF EVERYTHING THAT'S WRONG' WITH DEMOCRATIC PARTYOBrien, who has criticized the Democratic Party in the past, went on to claim that when Harris met with the unions executive board, which had prepared a slate of 16 questions, she only answered four questions."She really didnt answer the questions, and then on the fourth question my chief of staff slides me an index card and says, This is the last question. Shes not answering anymore, because she wanted to, like, pontificate and give her speech of why the country is the way it is, why we should endorse her."OBrien paraphrased her closing as essentially telling the union leadership, "Listen, Im going to win with you or without you.""And it was like such a smug answer, like, okay, and that turned the majority of the people in that room off her," he said. OBrien then described their postmortem of the meeting, noting that many in the union leadership were turned off by Harris smug demeanor and body language."You could smell it a mile away," he said.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREThe Teamsters declined to endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential race, a move that sparked internal and external criticism."Once we announced that there was going to be no endorsement, that's when all the keyboard warriors came out and the attacks from the DSA and, you know, my friends that were allegedly my friends that were, you know, high-ranking senators of the Democratic Party," he said. "Once I spoke at the RNC, then I was, you know, no good."Harris didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
