New Jersey's ban on privately operated ICE detention centers struck down by court
A U.S. appeals court struck down a law in New Jersey that prevented the federal government from contracting with private firms to operate immigration detention centers across the state. The courts 2-1 ruling marked a victory for President Donald Trump and his administration during their ongoing illegal immigration crackdown across the country. One of the Trump administration's efforts has been to expand a network of detention centers in preparation for the deportations of dangerous illegal aliens. The courts ruling also means CoreCivic Corp., a private prison firm, can continue to operate the Elizabeth Contract Detention Facility, which is one of the centers ramping up deportations.DEM REP TO PLEAD NOT GUILTY TO FEDERAL CHARGES FOR INCIDENT AT NEWARK ICE FACILITYIn the decision, U.S. Circuit Judge Stephanos Bibas, who was appointed to the post by Trump, wrote, "Just as states cannot regulate the federal government itself, they cannot regulate private parties in a way that severely undercuts a federal function."Bibas added that the law "interferes with the federal governments core power to enforce immigration laws."New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, signed a law in 2021 that barred CoreCivic from renewing its agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to continue operating the Elizabeth Detention Center.DEM REP MCIVER EXPECTED TO MAKE FIRST COURT APPEARANCE AFTER NEWARK INCIDENTCoreCivic ultimately sued the state, resulting in a district court judge siding with the private firm. The state then appealed the ruling to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court and received a decision counter to what it had hoped.New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin expressed disappointment about the decision in a post on X on Tuesday.DEM LAWMAKERS DEFEND STORMING OF ICE FACILITY, SAY TRUMP ADMIN IS LYING AT ALL LEVELS"As recent events at Delaney Hall underscore, entrusting detention to for-profit companies poses grave risks to health and safety, and as the dissenting judge noted, States retain broad latitude to protect the health and safety of people within their borders particularly where, as here, there is no conflict with federal legislation," Platkin wrote, in part.Platkin added he is evaluating the next steps in the case.CoreCivic's Ryan Gustin told Fox News Digital that the company has "played a limited but important role" in the U.S. immigration center at the Elizabeth facility for more than 25 years."We appreciate that we've had the opportunity to present our positions to the courts and are grateful to the 3rdCircuit Court of Appeals for reaffirming the federal government's discretion to rely on the Elizabeth Detention Center to support its vital mission," Gustin said.DEM CONGRESS MEMBERS STORM NEW JERSEY ICE PRISON TO CONDUCT 'OVERSIGHT VISIT': 'PEOPLE DESERVE DIGNITY'Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., was hit with a federal indictment for allegedly obstructing Homeland Security agents during an incident outside the Delaney Hall immigration detention center in Newark on May 9.McIver and two other members of Congress said they were conducting a congressional oversight visit that coincided with an immigration protest when a clash ensued with federal agents.According to the DOJ, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was allowed into the facilitys secured area and refused to follow federal agents' warnings to leave. When officers tried to arrest him, McIver allegedly put her arms around the mayor and "slammed her forearm" into one officer while grabbing another and using both of her forearms to forcibly strike the second officer.McIver has pleaded not guilty to the charges.Fox News Digitals Michael Dorgan and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Trump may have 'just handed an Emmy' to Stephen Colbert, industry reporter says
The Hollywood Reporter speculated on Monday how Stephen Colberts feud with President Donald Trump after his "Late Shows" cancellation could net him his show's first Emmy.CBS announced last Thursday that it would cancel "The Late Show" next May at the end of its broadcast season. Though CBS and Paramount clarified that the choice to cancel the series was "purely a financial decision," and it's been reported that the show loses CBS $40 million a year, many liberal commentators have pointed to Paramounts recent lawsuit settlement with Trump and an upcoming merger with Skydance as the reason. For his part, Trump celebrated the decision on Truth Social shortly after the news was announced, claiming Colberts "talent was even less than his ratings."COLBERT'S MOST PARTISAN MOMENTS AS 'LATE SHOW' HOST, FROM LEADING BIDEN FUNDRAISER TO DANCING WITH SCHUMERColbert fired back against Trump on his show Monday night."How dare you, sir?" Colbert responded. "Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go f--- yourself."Hollywood Reporter editor Steven Zeitchik argued that the "Late Show" franchise ending, combined with Trumps jabs, could motivate academy members to finally award Colberts iteration of the late-night comedy show after nearly a decade."Whether the president actually had a hand in the cancellation matters less than the fact that Emmys voters see a partisan battle in the firing," Zeitchik wrote. "An Emmy wont change public policy on immigration and Medicaid. But its one of the few ways liberal Hollywood can stick it to the leader they loathe.""The Late Show" is currently nominated for best Outstanding Talk Series against "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Late Night with Seth Meyers." "The Late Show" under Colbert has been nominated for an Emmy 31 times since his run as host began in 2015.Zeitchik added that Colbert winning an Emmy could give the anti-Trump comedian an even bigger platform to attack the president on a personal level.DAVID MARCUS: STEPHEN COLBERTS CHARACTER IS THE LATEST NEVER-TRUMP REPUBLICAN TO FALL"In a grand irony, if Trumps stance does give Colbert the Emmy the president will have enabled the host to win an honor that has saltily eluded him. ('The Apprentice' went 0 for 8.) And if Colbert did finally win for this show, he would gain an acceptance-speech platform of some 7 million TV viewers, and millions more online, all on and courtesy of the network that just canceled him. Thats the thing about punching someone with a TV megaphone they can punch back," Zeitchik wrote.Fox News Digital reached out to the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for comment.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Two potential causes of fatal assisted-living facility fire revealed; first responder bodycam rescues go viral
Authorities said a July 13 fire that ravaged a Fall River, Massachusetts, assisted-living facility, killing 10 people and injuring more than 30 others, was an accident that may have been sparked by either a malfunctioning oxygen machine or the careless use or disposal of smoking materials.State Fire Marshal John Davin said during a news conference Tuesday the Gabriel House Assisted Living Facility fire started in a resident's room on the second floor of the building. However, when authorities investigated and conducted initial interviews, they found the fire did not appear to have been set intentionally, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn."[Authorities] found no signs that cooking, lighting, heating, electrical outlets or other appliances contributed to the ignition of this fire," Davin said. "They found no candles, incense or related items."MASSACHUSETTS NURSING HOME STAFFING ACCUSED OF FLEEING INSTEAD OF HELPING ELDERLY RESIDENTS ESCAPEThe only items investigators found in the room that could have been related to the cause of the fire were an oxygen concentrator and numerous smoking materials in the room, according to Davin.Since the person who was in the room where the fire originated died in the blaze, authorities said the two most likely causes were a mechanical failure involving the oxygen concentrator or improper use or disposal of smoking materials. When authorities have two possible causes, the incident is ruled to have an "undetermined" cause.DEADLY OVERNIGHT BLAZE CLAIMS 9 LIVES AT MASSACHUSETTS ASSISTED LIVING HOME AS RESCUE EFFORTS CONTINUE"Investigators believe the presence of medical oxygen played a significant role in the fire's rapid spread and the ensuing tragedy," Davin said. "Oxygen is a necessary component of any fire, and it was present in the area of origin and other locations at Gabriel House. In an oxygen-rich environment, the fire will ignite more readily, spread more rapidly and burn at higher temperatures."Home oxygen was a known factor in about 20 fire deaths and more than three dozen injuries in Massachusetts over the last 10 years, and it was a suspected factor in many others, according to the fire marshal. Incidents involving smoking materials are the leading cause of fatal fires in Massachusetts and across the nation."Please, there's truly no safe way to smoke, but smoking is especially dangerous when home oxygen is in use," Davin cautioned. "No one should smoke around medical oxygen."Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon commended the work of first responders who appear in viral bodycam videos saving elderly residents from the home."Over the past week, the Gabriel House victims, the survivors and their families have not left our thoughts for a single minute since last Sunday night," Bacon said during the news conference. "I can't imagine the loss they suffered or the pain they feel. What I can say is that every firefighter at the scene that night gave 100% and then gave more to preserve as many lives as they could under catastrophic conditions."ONE DEAD AFTER FIREWORKS EXPLOSION SETS LOS ANGELES HOME ON FIREFox News Digital previously reported that five firefighters were among the more than 30 injured in the blaze."We have a philosophy in the fire service: You risk a little to save a little, and you risk a lot to save a lot," Bacon said. "They risked everything in hopes that others might live. We mourn the lives lost and the decades of family memories that were erased as a fire, smoke and intense heat tore through Gabriel House."I ask that you say a prayer for these families, and I also ask that you spare a thought for the first responders who are confronting their own trauma. They did a job no one should ever be asked to do, and I know they would do it again. They represented the very highest traditions of the fire service."In addition to on-duty fire crews, dozens of off-duty personnel raced to the fire to help, he said. The Fall River Police Department reported 35 officers also responded to help with evacuations.Bodycam footage showed police rushing to help, equipped with flashlights and explosive door-kicks."Eleven officers and two sergeants exemplified professionalism, bravery, and selflessness in the face of danger," the police department wrote in a Facebook post. "The coordinated efforts of the Fall River Police Department, Fall River Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services demonstrated the unwavering commitment of our public safety personnel to protect and serve this community."

Am I describing Germany? Or am I just describing the United States right now? Because I will tell you what. You think that the prison in El Salvador is not a f---ing concentration camp, you're out of your f---ing mind."Biden infamously revealed to "CBS Sunday Morning" in 2021, that he would smoke "anything that even remotely resembled crack cocaine," including "more Parmesan cheese than anyone you know."Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele also responded to Biden via a post on X, also referring to Biden's history of drug use."Is Hunter Biden sniffing powdered milk?"
