Actor Lance Reddick, best known for his roles in The Wire and John Wick movie franchise, passed away at the age of 60 due to natural causes. His publicist, Mia Hansen, confirmed the sudden death, and police were called to his residence in Los Angeles, California.
Reddick had been on a press tour for the upcoming fourth installment of John Wick movies, set to release on March 24, at the time of his death. He was also set to star in the spinoff, Ballerina, alongside Ana de Armas.
With more than 25 years in the acting industry, Reddick’s work spanned across a dozen films and television shows. He played Charon, the hotel concierge at The Continental Hotel in New York, in the John Wick series, and Cedric Daniels, a Baltimore police lieutenant in The Wire, which examined the narcotics scene from the perspectives of law enforcement, drug dealers, and users.
Reddick also appeared in the Netflix series Resident Evil and the science fiction-action movie Godzilla vs. Kong. He was well-known for his voice acting in the TV series Rick and Morty. Reddick studied classical music at the University of Rochester in New York before attending the Yale School of Drama.
In 2021, Reddick and his fellow cast members earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for their role in the film One Night in Miami. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, and their two children, Yvonne Nicole and Christopher.
